Ross and Baz recap Cage Warriors 210 at the RDS in Dublin, framing it as a shock night for Irish MMA: the hosts say it was the first time Ireland left the venue with a losing record on the card, after opening 0–3 and finishing roughly 5–7 for Irish fighters. They walk through prelims and mains—Alex Keogh’s quick knockout loss to Cristiano Oliveira, Cory McGloin’s darce loss to Jordan Walters after a dominant first round, Damon McKenna’s decision loss to Miguel Haro with a broken hand, Sen Kley’s welterweight win over Louis Bricusse, Ronan Deegan’s statement win over Billy Sutherland, Kenny Mokhonoana beating former champion Solomon Simon at lightweight, Keith Keogh’s submission and bonus, Conor McCarthy’s sharp win over Demetri Grill, Jared Harris’s triangle loss to Anderson Soares, Maximus Lally staying undefeated, and Paddy McCorry losing the middleweight title to Gustavo Sousa by first-round darce choke. They praise gyms including SBG Naas, Fight Academy Ireland, Team Rhino, Ara Grapple, and CMAC MMA, debate matchmaking and bonuses, and briefly cover other Irish results that weekend plus upcoming cards including Jordan Galabuzi at IMMAF Gala, Slice and Scrap 6, and Aaron Macdonald at UAE Warriors in Lisbon on 5 October.

[music] Diana. Okay, here we go. >> It's time. [screaming] Okay. What's going on, guys? And welcome to a brand new episode of Energized, brought to you by Orings Competitions. Ross, >> are you intoxicated or something? How are you doing, man? What a weekend we had, man. Fresh off Cage Warriors 210 in the Ords and it was an eventful night, Bosmo. It really was. Um I think it's the first time ever Ireland left the ODS with a losing record. Um it was it was strange to see. I'm going to say it was unexpected and I think it gave everyone in the Irish MMA scene a bit of a shock cuz I think we're used to going to the RDS all the Irish win. We leave with that good feel factor and uh we're happy out even when we're sort of playing our content for the night. We go on the bases assuming that the Irish fighters are going to win because that's that's what we have to do to prepare our content for the night. So it's definitely a real shock to the system when you know we lost the first three fights of the night and then going from there h things picked up but uh yeah it was it was definitely strange battle wasn't it? >> Yeah well do you know what last time at Cage Warriors 200 as well unfortunately Saul lost in the main event for his world title because we thought he was going to go on to UFC after that and then like obviously the same situation happened again as Patty lost in the first round as well. So like like when you get that high and then all of a sudden the arena is just dead silent bar the opponent's team going crazy. It's it's it's a it's an eerie feeling and like a lot of people like obviously a lot of people that go to these events like are more fans of the fighters and they wouldn't be be that much into MMA itself and they they like were sort of like like the shock it's like Patty was meant to win like he was meant to go to the UFC next and now that's not happening. Yeah, but I think all the Irish guys were meant to win, so we we might as well get into it. Baz, we might as well start at the start of the night and move uh onwards, I suppose. Alex Kio lost by by knockout in 45 seconds. Um Cristiano Olivera, he came in there and he was game and he hits hard. So look, he obviously went in there and finished Alex Ko. Um I think the arena came to a standstill fairly fairly quick. It was quite a bad knockout as well. But look, I suppose let's let's look at it from the Irish perspective. Alex Ko is one of the best talents this country has. He is a phenomenal grappler. He has blown through his opponents. And you know, the likes of Maxi and Conor McCarthy say he's the most talented and hardest worker in the gym. Peter Ky can't speak high of him. So, same with Sergey. This guy still going to have a bright future ahead of him. I think uh the only thing you worry about a fighter when something like that happens is first of all that they're actually okay and then second of all that I suppose it's not a massive mental defeat for them. >> Yeah. Well, like we did go we like see that's that's the funny thing about when you're covering these events, you're actually in the back and you get to see the fighters after win and a loss and like we saw Alex like he was there. He just seemed really really dejected as you would be >> because like last time out he probably deserved a performance as night bonus. We like he got the win in his cage warrior debut in less than a minute. We were saying before this he's probably going to be in there less than a minute as well. Obviously, we told you he was going to win, but like what I said to him after I was like, "You look the like like you will be back." Now, I tend to say that to everyone, but I mean that like I'm not going to tell you you will be back if I don't think you're going to be back. I'll just be like, "Oh, your hard looks tonight. It wasn't your night." Yeah. >> But like he's still young. He's fresh in the game. Like all the animals that are in SPG Nate, like they're on their way up and like look this is just a minor blip. This is the fight game as well. Sometimes you can be the hammer or sometimes you can be the nail, but like Alex Ko will be back 100%. >> Yeah, absolutely. And uh next fight up we had Cory McLolin. Um obviously stellar prospect out of Fight Academy Ireland. He was fighting Jordan Walters and B. This is oneway traffic for the first round. Cory McLolin like had his way with Jordan Walters. anything he wanted to do. Like he landed big shots, you know, he got him down when he needed to get him down. He we were like this this is the guy we've been waiting for. This is the the moment Corin McLolin's waiting for. Obviously he's taken the hardest fights going um as a pro. Nahome Wii, Mario Dano, Kon Masky, all really really top guys. >> Yeah, Kieran Masky um in the last fight he finished them quite spectacularly as well. So we were expecting a lot from him and from watching the first round we're like this is the Cory McLolin that you know fight academy Ireland fighters are singing his praises you know the Limati law maker as uh as he's called and he looked sensational out there and look Jordan Walter just toughed it out and when he saw his opportunity he snatched up the darke and and look he got the tap in the end you could see how dejected Cory McGloin was afterwards but again another top talent like this this loss definitely doesn't define him and he's far better than his record says as well and look I wouldn't be surprised if he goes on an absolute tear now um one thing I will say to these fighters is I saw uh Tero do an interview backstage with Rob Smith now I didn't see at the time but I saw Rob Smith post it so shout out to Rob Smith [snorts] um and Oliver Tero the first thing he said in the interview I can't remember [snorts] who beat him but he actually thanked the last person to beat him cuz that turned him into the animal that he is today. And that's what all these guys need to do. They need to, you know, go back to the growing zone and they need to get better from these losses, not, you know, take them too to heart because at the end of the day, the losses are what going to make you better. They're going to that's what that's where you find out the gaps. You know what I mean? Like Cor Mclottton for the rest of his career probably won't be caught in a darke. >> No, I 100% agree, Ross. Um, going into it as well, I was sort of like, should we put out a top five of who to watch this weekend at Cagewires? And like Cory McLolin's name was in my head the whole time because I was like, right, we all know FAI, they have a massive like following. Like they like obviously Patty would have brought a lot of people down fighting for the title. >> Um, >> like Cory looking at him like he he has the look like he has the style and I was I was like right Cage Warriors great signing that they're after getting in now. And then like if you're looking at now Jordan Walter's now three and 0. Cory's now two and two. So, as you said, look, look, that's something you can build on. the first round >> like he he definitely went from that and then yeah and then got caught in the second round and I remember when he when he got caught when like before he tapped I was like that looks pretty tighty and then obviously he had to tap but >> look these things happen and as as he said look Corin McGin will be back and like he'll like don't be surprised to see him in the future fighting for world title with cage wars. >> Yeah absolutely and uh we're staying in the featherweight division for the next one. Damon McKenna went and he lost a decision to Miguel Harrow. Look, Miguel Harrow was game this fight. He he like we said Basma this guy didn't come to lose. He was 12 and 12 24 fight veteran uh at the end of the day. Dame McKenna he actually broke his hand in this fight and you can actually you can you can nearly tell that that happened after watching it back that uh he wasn't wasn't letting that right hand go as much as you'd like him to. Um and he couldn't get the job done unfortunately. Um, we probably won't get to see Damian back in the cage for a while. But hopefully he recovers and we do get to see him again because again like he is the he is the talisman for uh team Rhino and he's he's carrying that gym on their back. A lot of people in that gym look up to him and too rightly so. Like he's making hours of journeys down on a Monday night to do high level sparring and team lo like this guy really wants to make this career. Yeah. In Dublin. So, from like the top of the country down to the capital. So, look, he he definitely wants to make this his career and he's doing all the right things. He just uh needs to not get this hurt by us and hopefully his hand heals sooner rather than later. >> Yeah. No, look, we're massive fans of of Dame McKenna, like top top guy. Like for the people that don't know him and yeah, he's the face of Omar Rhino. So, look, a hand injury like that, it's very important he gets that like sorted out properly to continue his career cuz um look, he's 4 and2 now. Like, how long how long do you think an injury like that could put you out for? >> I'd say we won't see him till 2027 to be honest. >> Yeah, definitely 2027. Yeah, sure. >> All right. So, like who knows? Could be February, March next year depending on how severe the break is. I ain't no doctor. >> Right. So Ross, uh, we were 0 and3 at that stage, Ross. >> 0 and three. >> We had to start putting videos. We had to we had to start putting videos of you walking around the arena. >> Yeah. I I was also saying um I was like, "Nobody talked to me. No one mentioned we're 0 and3 to me. I don't like I don't want to hear it." Uh, but next up we had D1's favorite son and Kley went out there and I don't think I've ever seen someone make the walk, get in the cage, do the business, walk backstage and enjoy every single moment as much as Sen Kley enjoyed that fight. That was his walk out. He was I wouldn't be surprised if he lost his voice with with the walk out. He was singing along to every single word. He was embracing the Dublin crowd. He was smiling from ear to ear. H as Andy Shepard called out his name. He called it out with them. He he loved every last moment of it. And then it was oneway traffic. Um Louis Brisco was undefeated going into that fight or precuse, whichever way you want to say it. Um and Sen Koki, he really he really put it put uh some work in on him. So much so I you know I think Derek Hickeyi went to stop the fight once or twice. I I even think he touched off Sen Koki and then jumped back out of the way. Um as Senaki said in one of his interviews uh Declan Kenna wanted De or Declan and um or Derek Hickeyi sorry Derek Hickeyi wanted that man dead is what Senaki was saying. Now >> it's at certain point like it looked like he finished him like three times and then all of a sudden Louis was back up again. >> Yeah. Yeah. No, look he was he was he he was doing his best to intelligently defend himself but look yeah >> Sen Kley is a problem in that welterweight division. Sen Kley is a potential superstar for cage wars. He can talk the talk. He can walk the walk. He's got an unbelievable fight style. He's really really marketable guy. He comes from a fighting family and he has everything that cage warriors are looking for and even even walking back he was doing the the social media spiel afterwards and threw in derby there saying I'm going to get to the UFC just like this guy and then there there was Derby like it was all perfectly timed sending Kley he is a a very marketable fighter and he is definitely someone to watch out for. If you don't know now you know. >> Yeah. No Ross 100% agreed. Like look, the place erupted once Sennon won. Obviously, we're 0 and3 at that stage. Sen gets the win. Irelander off the mark. like sen the way he's obviously like from Dublin and like trains up in Belfast. He has that crossover like following like you can really see how much people are supporting fighters like when we put the content out and then see like obviously certain people get more interactions than other and then you can just see who the most like who who people are really like are drawn to and send popular guy >> very popular >> even more popular than I thought >> right as well and he's only 22 as well people don't realize that you know I mean he's very very young >> I was actually going to ask you that I wasn't I wasn't sure what age he was as well also [clears throat] you did a great interview with him after post boy. Um, we have that up on the shorts on YouTube and it's all over Instagram as well. But like the way he gave it to his friend Josh. >> Yeah. No, that was that was really nice to see. It was just um that was that that really lit up the arena and uh I think everyone was feeling very energized after that one. So 3 and 0 the Coco show. Cannot wait to see send him back. >> Yeah, absolutely. And I think he's fresh as a daisy as well. So sooner rather than later, get him get him on a flight to Rome. I'd be here for it. >> Yeah. [clears throat] >> And then uh also uh next up we had uh another domestic dust up. Um Ronan Degan took on Billy Sutherland. And look, I think Ronan Degan made a real statement here. Um in fairness to him, he was quite dominant throughout the fight. H obviously a very very talented skilled fighter. First man from Offley to fight and win on Cage Warriors. First man from Ara Grapple to fight and win on Cage Warriors. The guy is as humble as you'll get. You know, he brought, as he said himself, he brought the tractors up from offly h the top ticket seller on the night. He was supposed to be opening the opening the card. He got bumped up to the fourth fight of the night because the amount of ticks he sold. Ronan Degan is here to not make up the numbers. He's here to make a run for that flyweight belt. And he's going to be a hard man to beat. He seems to live the professional life inside and outside the cage. like he said he told Kieran when he walked in the doors he wanted to be a professional fighter and make go with this fighting thing and he was at the bottom of the rung when he said that to him and now he's the top guy in air grapple he's leading the charge and there's probably not a better ambassador you could have for your gym than Roland Degan >> yeah that's a massive compliment you just paid him there like obviously going into that fight I knew we were Ireland were going to get a win somehow um then like obviously we like we're we become friends with Kieran Davvern obviously the head coach of our grapple and then we'd also be good friends with Jerry Pric as well head coach of Omar Rhino. So like seeing these two gyms collide like we were sort of like look we're obviously impartial because look for Irish MMA. So and we're big fans of Billy Sutherland as well. >> Yeah and look shout out to Billy because at the end of the day like he stuck it in there with Ronan Degan. It was a massive step in competition for him. You know, uh, Biddy Sen was 2 and0, but he beat the same fella twice. So, you could nearly say he was 1 and0 in some regards. And like he beat he beat one he beat a fella and then just beat that fella better the second time. Uh, and then he was going in against Ronan Degan who was 4-0 who was already fought like 20 plus veterans down in EFC. Shout out to the guys there. Their next show looks great. And it was a massive step in competition. And look, he it wasn't his night. He wasn't the guy he left with his hand raised, but that's a massive learning uh curve for him. And also, he got to dawn the yellow gloves and he got fighting a massive stage. Not many people get that. And I wouldn't be surprised if he gets that opportunity to go again. >> No, he definitely will. The thing is, I was only thinking about it today like Roland now is just is riding history from here on out. >> 100% be the first first every time he does something now for >> air grapple. >> Yeah. So he is like >> those yellow gloves will be up in air grapple and he'll be that guy. >> Also we got to finish it. Do you think do you think Ron Degan was unlucky not to get a a bonus on the fight night? >> Yeah. Like who got the there was obviously five bonuses and like >> I think four in the end. >> Well I thought they had five grand to give out. >> I think they did but I think only four was given out in the end. I thought I thought I saw Ian Dean putting a grand there into the a grand chocket [laughter] into the briefcase. No, look at the at the end of the day, I suppose it's a bit like with the UFC, the bonuses are are discretionary. So like um whatever's put up for grab is put up for grab by the sponsor. So like look, I think I think it's actually cuter that like four people got a grand then one person got five grand to be honest because that money means a lot to those fighters. >> Yeah. No. Yeah, I do think R should could have got one as well. >> Yeah, >> if there was five grand then then there was one. >> Yeah, there's if there's a grand if there's a grand missing Ronald Degan will take it. >> Yeah, 100% man. >> And then um yeah, so Ross, we then that made the Irish MMA tally to two and four. Yeah, because at all Irish fair doesn't uh doesn't boost [laughter] the numbers. Uh then we had a Lewis Burn versus uh Oliver Tero. Uh Tero moved up away class uh for this one and look he he he dropped Lewis early and got the body lock in the first round and look it was a tall a tall tale to ask come back from that as well. Uh obviously when someone gets in the body lock for minutes at a time it can be quite soul destroying but look I think one thing Lewis Burn showed he has no quitting them. H he fought right at the end. His his best moments of the fight were probably the last minute of the third round. Lewis Burn is a is definitely a top talent. He's definitely one that can get things back on track. He just has to learn from this loss, find out where the mistakes were made and fill those gaps. And look, Lewis has been doing this game for a very, very long time. No one ever questions his work ethic. He just needs to find out what went wrong, how to fix them, and and go again. >> Yeah. from watching the fight like he he was wearing a lot of damage as the fight was going on. Like obviously we saw him in the back and he didn't look too great but look it was obviously a fight Lewis was on an absolute tear before that fight like he's now 5-1. Um hopefully like he gets back uh rests up and is back in the new year because he has that new contract with Cage so they obviously see what talent Lewis Baron has. >> Yeah, 100%. I think they're going to probably give him a step back in competition next time out and let him go in there and do his thing and we'll see see what's up with him. I haven't seen him since the fight uh since fight night. So, uh hope hopefully he's doing well. Bit of rest and recovery and maybe in a week or two he gets back back in the gym and does some start doing some light training. >> Yeah. So, Ross, that was the end of the prelim card. Ireland were two and five. So, >> our hearts were breaking. where our hearts were break. I think we take these dice for granted when Ireland just keep winning like you know this isn't like you know what I mean? >> Yeah. As I was saying to uh Ian Dean and Dion I was like hold on I thought we were able to pick the results here. No >> pick the results. >> Yeah. Yeah. That that's that's the thing that's it can be a cruel mistress this this MMA game. >> Yeah. >> But uh here we are. Basmo. Moving on to the main card, it we were guaranteed to win again in this one, man. >> We moved from two and five to three and six. H Kenny Moana went in there and he beat Solomon Simon. H this was for me was a real intriguing match in the buildup to it. Boads have been on the scene for I'm going to say 10 plus years including amateur and it was a long time coming. I was when the fight was made I was like have these two fought each other before and I was like no they haven't. But it it felt like they had cuz they both bounced around weight classes and they both bounced around that um that scene. So it was uh definitely interesting to see for me on this one. Uh I think we learned a couple of things uh throughout this fight. H Kenny Moana give him all the praise he deserves. Unbelievable stuff. I think lightweight is the new weight class for him. He told me he done a lot lot of running for this fight that he hadn't been doing for other fights and it really really showed the best cardio I've ever seen out of Kenny Moana. Um he was even doing some some taunting and showing a bit of his personality in there. I feel like we've never got to see that in his past few fights because he's been so tired come the end of the third round. So uh really really good performance by Kenny. H I think you know maybe people weren't as high on Kenny as maybe they should have been and I think you know it was a bit of a yall must have forgotten moment for Kenny Moana and he went in there and showed what he's capable of h in terms of Solomon Simon's performance um I felt like watching him his his cardio wasn't where it needed to be in terms of he looked very very tired and sluggish come the third round and we're not really used to that from cuz He's known as sort of a buzzer beater finisher and the last sort of 30 seconds of each round that's where he has it all to give and at the end of the day that wasn't there on fight night uh for Saul this time out. So that's something obviously he needs to make a readjustment for. Uh, one thing I will say is, you know, Saul's obviously had had a new baby there recently as well and like this isn't like excuse for him, but obviously from being a father, I know how much he puts into doing that and like to between doing that and then like driving up to Dublin for fight camp and, you know, getting your sleep and your resting recovery in, you know, I mean, that can be hard to do uh from there. But look, Solomon King Simon is a cage warriors champion, you know what I mean? Um he he will be back. He will put on uh spectacular forms again. And yeah, hopefully we see we see some big knockouts from from Solomon future and hopefully he can fix those mistakes. >> Yeah. Well, look, going into this fight as well, it was like a classic SPG Ireland versus Team Rhino fight, like and both lads like a like very well known on the scene um within the community. >> And then Kenny had previously said that he didn't think he was going to fight in Cage Warriors again after his last win >> and then he was back and I was like, "All right, well that's cool." And then Saul as is obviously a former cage warriors featherweight world champion and then had won his debut at lightweight and then was fighting this one. So I think looking at it beforehand I was like right Saul is obviously the favorite going into this. So that's why I think Kenny deserves so much um like hype after this and like like praise for getting the win over Saul. Anytime you beat any former Cage Warriors world champion, you're putting yourself in the like in the category of a potential title fight yourself. So >> 100%. >> Yeah. So I think Kenny hasn't really gotten his flowers previously and also he's been around different organizations, but now he's like on a run with Cage Warriors. So expect Kenny to get a big fight again at the next Cage Warriors event. Also, shout out to Saul as well. Like, look, >> Saul is one of the the most kindest people I've met like in the MMA scene. Like, he's always into >> Yeah. Like, I mean, I like I know I know he's a very scary guy in the cage, but outside like he's like >> he's a bit of a sweetheart. >> Yeah. He's a great great lad. like he he looked ejected obviously after cuz look some like I don't think a lot of fighters plan for a loss and then when it happens and you can see them walking by you just have to be like here is salt you will be back you were you are a world champion so like >> absolutely >> yeah so look shout out to bow fighters cuz um look when when you take big fights there's big risks and bis big rewards and um this time Kenny got the got his hand raised >> absolutely What make what make the score then? >> I think three and six, I think. >> Three and six. Hopefully our mats are right. >> Yeah. Um Yeah. So then h next up we had Keith Kio the freak show. Look, Keith looked great in this fight. Um at one stage he was on his opponent's back, I'd say for three minutes looking for the rear naked choke and there was a lot of squeezing going on. Uh Keith used his smarts and he came off the back. Uh, and when he came off the back, he actually rolled his ankle one stage and I was like, "Oh my god." But the way tonight's going, like, is this is this the look that we're gonna have? >> It felt like that, Ross, didn't it? Sorry. That night, it just didn't The look of the Irish didn't feel to be there really. >> Yeah. Yeah. Who was who had the Shamrocks, lads? Uh, but look, Kiko, you managed to eventually get back on the back in round two and he got the rear naked choke. Look, Kiko is becoming an absolute nightmare for matchmaker Ian Dean. They're really, really struggling to find someone to fight him. Like I would say Keat's actually on the smaller side for a featherweight as well. Like 150 lbs catchweight could be seen as a risky move for Kiko. His opponent looked a lot bigger than him and a lot more mustering than him. But h Keith is such a skilled fighter. He is someone who took time to go over to Poland to get a a look at new bodies, new styles. He is someone who is an absolute ideal fighter to follow for the other CMAC lads. He's he's got all the jiu-jitsu skills. He's really starting putting together on the feet. His strength and condition is coming along leaps and bounds. He is he's a like we said about Rowan Degan, Kiko was a excellent role model for CMAC fighters. Um he loves it and again really really nice guy. You know what I mean? All he wants to do after after winning this fight is go and need an absolute rakeload of grub and look he got a bonus. He definitely deserves the bonus. Um can't speak highly enough for Kiko. I just hope that next time out on cage wires he gets an opponent that he has time to prepare for and adequate time to prepare for. >> Again, not not necessarily in Dean's fault, you need people to say yes. >> Well, yeah. Well, Keith knew he was always going to be on the card, but obviously when you're training and the the fight hasn't been announced, it's going to be very difficult. And also like obviously Trevor Mckango was meant to be on the card, but he fell off as well. So, his fight fell off, but like he he will Trevor Mckeno will be fighting on the cage warriors Rome card he just announced there yesterday. But look, Keith was the the face of Seamac there on the night. Like after his win, he got a huge reception as always. Like it look >> D15 really came out for him. >> Yeah, that's the he is a massive support there. like um I think I think CMAC the team is still a bit under the radar name wise but look Ke's doing great things obviously Jordan Bradshaw now signed with one championship then obviously Alex of Sullivan is um one of the most appreciated coaches in the country >> 100% >> yeah and then like obviously Kyle Sullivan got her >> first professional win there at EFC so she's one to watch out for as well but I'm just sticking on Keith He will be in title contention in 2027. Um I think if you haven't seen Ross' interview with Keith the like a very humble guy like just wants to put everything into the sport and that's exactly what he's doing and that's why the D15 community is behind him and so is the May community in fact as well. >> So that made it >> 46 46 and we're going to five. We're going five and six, baby. H. Next up, we had the hot stepper. We had the man from Claim. Claim for life, the one and only Conor McCarthy. What a for me. Maybe this was performance of the night. He went in there and put on a clinic against Demetri Grill. Uh this probably I'm going to say going into the night I'd say he was fighting the highest level of opponent. Uh, I don't know if I'm going to say that leaving, but I think like before the night I was like that's the hardest match up on the card for an Irish fighter. >> What about what about Kenny? >> Well, it was excluding like the Irish on Irish ones. I meant like the Irish fighting someone who's not Irish. >> Uh, look, Gerland has has been fighting the top guys in the division. And also, shout out to Conor McCarthy. H, he makes Dean's very job very, very easy. Um, obviously he went from uh fighting George Stains. He was supposed to be fighting one of the other top guys in the division and then he end up with Demetri Grill. Like the these are all the top guys in the division. Conor McCarthy says yes to every single one of them. Uh I think a win here for Conor McCarthy has really really put him in title contention. You could say he's nearly the number one contender in this division. Obviously uh Yuan Davis is fighting Jordan Vennis and one of the biggest title fights in Cage Warriors history next for the lightweight belt. Conor McCarthy could easily fight one of the winners of that. I would love to see Conor McCarthy uh fight either the winner of that or maybe have one more. One thing I broached him with was uh what about Conor McCarthy versus Kenny Moana next uh as a number one contender spot. I think that would be really really cool to see. I'd be here for Conor McCarthy's hands. They look so sharp in that cage. He is definitely someone who I feel like will end up on the contender series next year. [snorts] >> Yeah. Well, Connor's finished. was I voted for the performance of the night, finish of the night, sorry. Um, going into that, as you said, he lost to George Stains. George Stains is actually fighting on Dana West contenders series this week. Then Dmitri Grean, he was a very, very dangerous guy. I like I know you just mentioned potentially Connor against Kenny. That'd be a great fight. But I think either Connor or Kenny should fight like Adam Cullen as well cuz he's a big name. >> Yeah. And like that's another that would be a big fight with a big name recognition. And then when if you can be like I beat Adam Cullen then therefore that's a good litmus test to to then push on for a title fight in 2027. But like also Connor very very young in his career as well. It was great to see him get that win back. You did a great interview with him as well and like he has that like he's SPG Nace and I think like he's now the face of SPG Nace as well. So people make sure to check out Conor McCarthy cuz uh he's a very dangerous guy to watch out for. >> 100%. I also think I actually think the fight to make you call it there is Conor McCarthy versus Adam Co because Conor McCarthy's one losses against George Stain. It could be SPG Nice versus H Nextg again. So like I think that's that's definitely and shout out to George Stains who Baz told me off air beforehand. Well I knew it but he told me he mentioned it. Shout out to George S cuz he's fighting on Dise Contender Series tonight. >> I just said that, man. All right. Sorry, man. [laughter] [gasps] We have to That's why I didn't say tonight. I said this week >> cuz this is me yesterday. >> Yeah, but this was meant to be recorded yesterday. >> Yeah, but it was released on the Tuesday anyway. >> Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. >> Uh 64 is it or 65? >> Uh 46. No, >> 67. >> 56. 5 56 56 56 >> Then >> 56. [laughter] >> Then we move to 132 pound catchweight. J Harris uh fought Anderson Suarez. Um look, G Harris looked really, really good at the start of this fight. He looked like he was getting the better shots landed. He was getting the takedowns. He was getting the way he wanted it. And I felt like he made one lapse in error in judgment and he stepped into that triangle. Now when when he was in the triangle as well, uh bit of a strange moment happened. Um Sorz was landing elbows to uh Jar's head from the top. Referee stepped in and stopped it to let him let Sorz know that you know watch where you're hitting. And for me it was a very strange interference by the referee. For me it's either it was an illegal strike and if he landed legal strike he should have lost the position or if it's a fair strike and it's close to where it should be or shouldn't be. Well then you shouldn't be stepping in to get interfere in the fight. Does that make sense? >> Yeah. Like it's either it's either a legal strike or or not. >> Yeah. >> Wasn't he? >> Yeah. But if he's throwing the strikes, >> right, and it's a legal strike, then he should lose the position. But if it's a legal strike, well then the referee shouldn't be stopping them to say, "Oh, here's legal. Here's not legal." >> Well, the thing is we could go massively into judging, but like it's more I think everyone gets away with one thing all the time. Like I mean if you kick someone in the bollocks you just get a like don't do that again. You know what I mean? [clears throat] Like the eye pokes for instance like everyone almost gets a free eye poke. You almost get free illegal shot. >> Yeah. But if like if you >> I don't think that's right though. But I'm just saying that's >> No, but No, but I'm saying Yeah. But I'm saying if you someone throws an illegal strike and they have you in a triangle and they throw the legal strike where you're in a triangle, you should at least be led out of the triangle for taking the legal strike, not left in the triangle. That's what I'm saying. >> I know. That's just my take on it, but what do I know? But, uh, look, [laughter] J Harris, uh, not a great not a great loss for him. He moves to seven and five. Um, look, he just needs to put a run together. He needs to win one or two fights um to get to get his career back on track. He sort of win one lost one for his last four fights, I think. So yeah, look, it's clear to see that there is skills there that that can bring him where he needs to get to. H it seems to be he looked he looked a bit tired going into the fight or during the fight. So like it looked like maybe there's a slight cardio issue there. And then also um just maybe he shouldn't have entered into his opponent's guard when he was he he was doing so well on the feet. So look, Chair's been around fighting a long time. he'll know the mistakes he made himself and it's up to him to try and fix them going forward. >> Just in the buildup to the fight, I felt like like from the outside looking in, obviously you're in team run, you'd know better than me, but it's more it seemed like J was doing everything right from the outside looking in. Like all the content he was putting out like he looked extremely confident like it was there with the the the new haircuts and everything. And it was just like um I felt like J was extremely confident going into this and a confident fighter is a dangerous fighter. >> Then >> at the weigh-ins then like uh Suarez looked terrible like actually looked so bad on the weigh-in scales. I was like Jared's probably the odds of the the most probably the biggest favorite to win now. Obviously bar on well Addict Ko according to the bookies but I was just like right Jared should get this one over the line. very unfortunate to see Jar because he's lose because he's probably the biggest personality on the card. Um people love Jerry Harris interviews like we love Jar Harris interviews. So, I mean, I don't I don't know exactly what age Jar is now, but like I think because we had him on the show like 10 years ago, basically it feels like he's still very young, but um look, everyone like everyone loves a Jar Harris win and he's massively supported throughout the country. So, hopefully Jar Harris is back very very soon. And look, I don't think seven, seven wins, five losses is a great representation of how skilled he is. So, um, look, next time hopefully he gets the win, does a big call out, and gets a proper run cuz 2027's just around the corner. I think every person who's either fighting and or listening to this should make 2027 their year. So, uh, look, hope you see J back very, very soon. Ross, that makes >> motivational speech from Basmo, >> mate. I mean, when you see these people put the hard in and get the get what they deserve, like you just want them to keep improving every like all the time. Um, we're here the whole time to do it. Um, we'll get into that more after this breakdown. So, Ross, what's that make the >> I think we're five and seven now. Are we >> five and seven? [laughter] >> Okay, Ross. Then going into the co-main event, Ross. >> Yeah, going into the co-main event. Maximus Maxali. And again, this is very much like the Kiko rolling the ankle. Maximus Max Valley gets dropped at the start of the fight and after he gets dropped ends ends up in a a choke because it felt like a bit of a modified guillotine or something like that. But uh he managed to escape and it's probably the first time I'm seeing Maxi actually like he looked pissed off in the fight. He loo it looked like there was a bit of I'm not having that. And uh he got in he he got uh got on top of his opponent got into full mouth uh got the grape vines in and like he started raining down elbows on his opponent. Like we saw a real vicious side to Max Lally and uh he he got the finish there there and then like Maxi looked great if you exclude the first 10 seconds of the fight. He looked great from there on in. Um he really really did and look he kept his O. He is someone who we always have and always will keep keep an eye out on. Um look feel like it's a bit of a rinse and repeat but like he's a great lad. He's really good character. He very very humble. Like a lot of guys if they were seven and0 in his position would not be as humble as he is. All he wants to do is get better every single day. Find the best bodies to train with. He's open to exploring new training partners all the time and he's a perfect role model for kids to be watching starting out martial arts saying like I want to be like Maxi. He's got a great family support unit around them. Um like his mom does all his nutritions. His dad seems to be very very good on the business side of thing. His brother is his test dummy for doing all the submissions at the kitchen table. So look you up the lollies. You up Max Ali. What a guy. Um, he's one of the guys that I will always root for in the Irish MMA space. He's an absolute decent skin. >> Yeah, [clears throat] I like I had a feeling you were going to say like you don't want to keep saying that everyone's a good guy, but like a lot of these people are. I think it's the humble how humbled these guys have been on the mat has created like their personality and makes them that be like that. And then just the the good thing Max can take from that punch is looking but looking at Gable Stevenson getting KO'ed. Max can take a big dig to the chin and not get knocked out. >> So uh that's a positive. But like obviously going into this one as well there there I feel like from the outside looking in there is a lot of like um from Cage Warriors more so as well. I think there's a lot of like there's a lot of stock put into Max ever since obviously he got like even before the UFCI but when he first got signed >> then all of a sudden he was straight onto the main card you know I mean he wasn't even expecting that if you look back in our previous interviews and then all of a sudden they were like this guy is selling big tickets getting a lot of people in talking about him like he was they they even sent Cage warriors in to do the sort of snatch photos with recreating snatch the movie photos with like Paul Fogerty and um own Rody like they don't just do that [ __ ] for anyone >> and like that that he's getting that push like that UCPI experience as well. They marketed the [ __ ] out of that as well. John Gooden was doing collabs with UC Fas for stuff with Max as well. Like he was getting the second biggest push on the card obviously Barb Patty who's a world champion. So look that shows how much they believe in him. Um >> the win the arena absolutely erupted. Um, I I was making sure to get the recordings of Max coming out of the cage and the amount of like young kids and like >> the audience that he has supporting him was like you could just see it. He crosses over. I think it's the way his mom is does a lot of content, his dad does a lot of content, his brother does a lot of content and the way he is uh supported throughout the country as well. I think he is probably the most supported Irish MMA fighter from the north to the south to the east to the west. So, uh, Max Liy Ross, do you think he'll get a title shot in 2027? >> I think he either be a title shot or Dana White's Contender Series. I think that's inevitable for him. I think he, as you say, he he is that guy. But, uh, >> Oh, yeah. Then just the last one, the last just the last thing. He was originally meant to fight Aiden Stevens. Stevenson. Stevens Stevens. Stevens. Do you think they should rematch that or do you think he should get like a like a bigger name? I >> I think that's a great match up for him. I think Aiden Stevens is someone who's been in Cagewire a long time. 185 veteran. I think it's a great match up for Max. So, I think that's that's that's a good fight for him next. >> Okay. Then, but Ross, what did that make us then? >> What? >> Was that 67 then? >> Uh yeah. Yeah. And then we finished off unfortunately with a loss in the main event. Patty Mccuri lost his middleweight title to Gustavo Soua. Gustavo Soua like he really made an impression on this fight week. He came in, his nickname is Jones after Jon Jones. uh the walk out, the pink hair, you know, he wasn't here to make up the numbers and uh he went in there and he wrapped up a dar choke within the first minute and got the job done. It was uh an all action uh fight for the one minute that happened. I suppose what we'll really look at is what's next for Patty McCari. I felt like this was meant to be his last fight in Cage Warriors. I don't know whether Cage Warriors would be interested in running an immediate rematch. like I wouldn't mind seeing that. Uh given the fact that it was on short notice, Patty Mccuri is a big name for for them in the middleweight division. I don't really know who else is there in the middleweight division. Um so I could definitely see them doing an immediate rematch and having Patty Mccary with him back as a world title. Um I suppose there's not really a lot a lot to break down on the fight. Look, obviously Patty McCari very talented fighter. He's won on Dana Wise Contender Series. He's won the other fighter. He won the K Dire middleweight title. It's uh it's actually amazing the fact that he's still fighting on the regional scene like he should be in one of the big promotion. So I think hopefully we get to see him back in there, win his title and then hopefully he can get signed to the UFC. >> Yeah, I think it was just probably um just happened out of nowhere and all of a sudden his neck was snatched and nobody could believe it honestly. The the never heard the tree arena so quiet after that. Um once he got once uh Suarez as soon as got that got the neck it was just like this is actually very very deep and then obviously Patty went down cold which was very very unfortunate to see. Um Patty of course I I think he put a post out he is fine he will be back. >> I think there will Patty like obviously sells a lot of tickets. I think he will be back in the main book PFL might come from now >> cage >> cage wire is called off him a title shot again in 2027. I'm sure he'd want to win that world title back as well. >> Um, look, he will he he'll have options whether it be the world title again or PFL. We'll see what happens. Look, Kire's 210 done. Not the night we were all expecting, but look, I think this night could be the making of quite a lot of few fighters. The ones ones who didn't get their hand raised. I think they'll come back bigger, better than ever, and those losses will make them the fighters that they are today. And that's that's that's what we're looking for. We're looking for a good bounce back off them. And like look, overall as a whole, great to have Cage Wires come back to Dunham. H hopefully we will see them again early in 2027. Uh I don't expect to get another one before the end of the year, but if they did want to, we'd be here for it. Um look, great night of fights. Um and yeah, I I think uh it wasn't the only show with Irish fighters on it over the weekend, though. Basmo H Academy Fight League um had some fights on over SPG Ireland were over there. H big shout outs to Ryan Kio and Keem Carton. They got both got first round submission wins. Ryan Ko was it's been a hot minute since we've seen him in the cage. I think Hexagon was the last time we saw him out there. And then Kee McCarten, I think it was Euro fighting championships. He beat Aaron Henry. That was the last time we saw him out there. So two first round finishes um for those two lads. Unfortunately, Mario Dafano, um Finn and Roger Lopez were not successful in getting their hand raised, but again, uh these things do happen. Uh but great to have uh those guys getting a run out. H Don Norcas was successful at Babylon 60. H got a first round finish. Very, very vicious. We posted on the wall. H Don Norcas up at 7 77 kilos. That's welterweight. So interesting to see would he stay there or not. H shout out to team KF. And then for me, probably the winner of the weekend, probably going under the radar beforehand, but Arman the Crane Herx, he is six and0 since moving to passers new over in Manchester top team. He went in against Marlon Jones, who'd fallen the ultimate fighter, and he went in there, ate a big uh liver shot early on the fight, got hurt, but he came back, and my god, these guys did not like each other. And you could tell by the way Arman Hurst put the beaten down on them to get the TKO. stop pussing around the world. H Armen Herkxig is our new full combat contender, 47 bantamweight champion. What a guy. Um he's really really doing bit since moving over to Manchester top team. He is an elite prospect. He is someone who I think is now going to be on the radar for Dana White's contender series uh early next year. He is really really come on leaps and bounds from his days on the octagon show or the amateur scene fighting out of them. Fair play to Arman Herik. It just goes to show if you put in the work the the results will come. >> Exactly. Then just coming up this week, M Gala goes down as SVG Ireland's Jordan Galabuzzi will be competing on that. And then also Slice and Scrap 6 will be going down this Saturday as well. And then Monday next week, the 5th of October, Aaron Macdonald will be fighting at UAE Warriors in Qashqai, Lisbon. Ross, we will be back next week. We'll be discussing much, much more of Irish MMA.
