I'm with Daniel Clooney ahead of us fight for the interim featherweight title at
Virtus Six at Healy Park in Alma next week.
Daniel, how are you doing brother? Good to see you.
I'll go bro, I'll go a bit nervous for this note.
I find that with a lot of fighters, they're kind of not nervous at all to fight,
they perform under the bright lights, but you stick a microphone in front of their faces,
they freeze up a little bit.
Yeah, obviously they look more about to make a walk here.
Your last win there, you had a brilliant win over Henry Leca and I shoved the microphone in
in front of you. And I remember your text and I can't even remember what I said because
I was just on cloud nine. How were you feeling now, a bit of time removed from what was a
brilliant performance?
It was true. I couldn't have expected that. People were saying the practice is flying
triangles like I don't. It's not something I do on training but when I felt as I am
under the leg I was just like go for it. It was true for it.
An absolutely massive win. You're coming in here now too but for people who don't know
you've been around the jiu-jitsu scene for a hell of a long time European
medals and things like that like you're a very very decorated I've been training
with you since you were like a scrawny little teenager and then all of a
sudden I was just found I was getting butchered by you I'm a winner you're on
the mat I've seen you grow and I was always so excited to see you make this
crossover which I've done it against a couple of really tough opponents Adrian
Jujila Henry Leca now you're fighting Tom Buckley who's 8-1 and he's coming
in on a five-fight win streak. You're going right in the deep end at the start of the amateur career
but you've proved already that you're able for these tests, aren't you?
Yeah, that's what I am. I'm trying in Jiu Jitsu 10 years this summer so I have a lot of experience
competing. I'm only doing MMA just over a year now so I am still kind of fresh but I am enjoying
mixing it up and yeah, two flats and fighting but that's what I want.
Yeah and the issue I suppose when you come in highly decorated in another background is getting
matched. You're not going to get matched at someone who's kind of at a
beginner level. People are going to know who you are and that's probably been a
bit
