Energized Rush face-off preview ahead of Cage Legacy The Aftermath in Dublin on 4 April 2021, pitting Sineadh Ni Nuallain against Sarah Elliott Sheridan in an amateur bout framed as SBG Ireland versus SBG Charlestown. Both teenagers describe a long wait—roughly two years for Sineadh—to finally compete, after cancellations and pandemic disruption. They know each other from past training and from Sarah watching Sineadh’s first K1 fight; both say familiarity adds respect and motivation rather than hesitation. Sineadh, 19, cites striking and overall MMA versatility; Sarah, 18, points to work ethic and self-belief. Sarah openly targets a knockout–TKO finish; Sineadh says she is comfortable winning by strike, wrestle, or submission. They share admiration for Katie Taylor and high-level SBG teammates including Leah McCourt and Sinead Kavanagh, who were noted in Bellator featherweight rankings that week. Sineadh moved from Mayo to Dublin at 18 after striking from age eight; Sarah began at Shaolin in August 2018. Hosts push pay-per-view support for Irish MMA’s first event of the year, and both fighters close with sponsor thanks and fight-week confidence.

Okay, what's going on guys? Welcome to a brand new episode of Energized Rush. Introduce the guest, Matt. Okay, Cage Legacy is this weekend. And in the blue corner, we got Sinead Noonan. And in the red corner, we have Sarah Elliott Sheridan fighting out of SBG Charlestown. Girls, how are you doing? I'm good, thanks. So, we'll start off with yourself, Sinead. Sinead, how much are you looking forward to this fight? And where do you think you have the advantages over Sarah? I can't actually express how excited I am to fight. Cuz like I This has been a long time coming, like 2 years coming. So, I'm over the moon just to have a fight. So, Sarah, thanks for taking the fight. You know, very a lot of respect. And where do I have advantages? I say I think my striking cuz I'm a striker. But then again, I can grapple at the same time. Like I'm a mixed mixed martial artist. You know, you can't just be good in one particular area because obviously you can't just do that in mixed martial arts fights. So, I believe I'm kind of well-rounded. And Sarah, what about yourself? Where do you feel like you have the advantages and how much are you looking forward to the fight? I'm buzzing. I can't wait. Like you said, we've been waiting a long time to just get in there. So, I'm buzzing. But I feel like overall, I have an advantage just probably in me self. Like I know like my work ethic and I know how much I put in. So, like my belief in myself is like, right, that's where I like overall in general. I'm not going to say like striking or grappling because I've been working on both. So, I just think overall, like that's my advantage. Just me. Me and my advantage. And we'll start with yourself as again, Sinead. Obviously, you know, the female MMA scene is probably slightly smaller than the male MMA scene in Ireland. And that's no way I'm not going to put Are you guys very familiar with each other? Yeah. We've actually trained together as well at some stage in our life. So, you know, like you said, the area of Irish women MMA is very small. You know, I think everyone knows everyone in that kind of in the women's side of things. So, I think you're going to know everyone you fight eventually in in Ireland just cuz it's such a small kind of area, but it is developing. So, you know, someday hopefully it'll get bigger. And Sarah? Um what do you mean do we know everyone like in Yeah, well like how familiar are you with your opponent? Ah, like I watched her at the chat at the time before. Like so, I'm very familiar. Like all right, was that her first K1 fight ever? Like sitting with her family and stuff. So, I'm buzzing. Like to me this is like full circle. It's like that's the first show I ever seen. Now, this is the first person I'm going to go against. Like let's go. Do you know what I mean? It's all like just in me being like it's all meant to happen. Well, this this reminds me of the best of frenemies right here now. I don't know if that's right, but like still we're like, you know what I mean? Like of course respectful. I could just I could just picture Sarah in Sinead's family photo after the fight. Does this Does this Does this make it any more difficult going up against someone that you you know rather than someone you don't know? Uh Sinead do you want to go first? Does it make it any more difficult knowing who your opponent is like? No. I I I I don't care who I fight. I just want to fight. I don't care who it is. I've had so many like like opponents that have pulled out that I've got injured that my collarbone couldn't fight. You know, I've had opponents break their leg and couldn't fight. Do you know what I mean? So, to be honest, especially in Ireland, you just have to take what you can get at the moment. Do you know? Especially when I'm bleeding pandemic as well, which makes it a little bit tougher. So, you just have to take what you get. And you know what? Like I'm sure Sarah's the same. You just take what you get. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. What about yourself, Sarah? Yeah, like I'm Sorry, I'm getting really I'm What was the question again? I can't even Yeah, do you find Do you find you find it difficult that you you actually know Sinead rather than fighting someone that you have no idea who is I like it to be honest cuz to me it's like that inner like you know cuz I know like him like Sinead work I think of what Sinead does and that's to me I'm like right I feel like it's going to be a very good fight and a good fight for the fans but as a first fight it's part of our amateur fighters and like right like it's not to me this isn't going to be an easy fight but it's going to be a great fight for me to win because I'll know I worked for it you know what I mean? If that makes sense. Does that Yeah. Yeah, of course. makes it like a bit more drive to me. I'm like yeah, let's go like it's I can see it visualize it like in my And guys obviously visual- visualization has is a big thing in mixed martial arts and it's probably a big thing that both your coaches in as sort of put on you guys but tell us this we'll start with yourself this time Sarah. How have you envisioned this fight finishing? Uh like I have like three things in my head like I can see the cage or like the white like obviously the white ground black yellow ground probably knock her out and then TKO like I want to knock her down though first and then smash her face and that's I'm sorry I'm sorry what I'm saying now. What about yourself Sinead? She can try and knock me out but I don't That's not going to You know if you want to strike I'll knock her out. If you want to go to the ground I'll either out wrestle you or I'll uh submit you so we can go or you know I don't actually give a [ __ ] which way it finishes to be honest as long as I get the win I don't care. Yeah, you can try. Like we said you can try. I think there's no way of putting it no matter how how much you like someone but when someone said they're going to knock you out there's no way you're able to take that personally is there? No. See it's not personal. Yeah, it's again it's a competition. give a shite. Somebody could sit there and say they hate me all doesn't doesn't not phase me. Doesn't not phase me. It's a fight. You know what I mean? It's our careers. We all want to go to the same spot. We all want to go to the UFC. We all want to go to this that and the other. So we're just there to fight for what we want. Do you know what I mean? It's not impersonal in my opinion. I don't know about anybody else. Yeah, can you can you both tell me as well what age you were when you got into mixed martial arts cuz like as we can see now like the Irish women are doing great things and there's obviously like going to be younger men and women looking at this and looking at yourselves and then like going to be following your careers as well. So like what what age were you when you started cuz you're both very young now. I don't even think either of you is 20 yet. I think Sinead you're 19 and Sarah you're 18. Like that's some unbelievable stuff. How long have you been How long have you been training mixed martial arts, Sinead? Um I did striking when I was since I was eight and then I when I moved to Dublin from Mayo was when I was just turned 18. So just over a year and a bit I've been doing MMA together and like the jiu-jitsu. I've been doing jiu-jitsu and striking separately. When I moved to Dublin I kind of went to the MMA classes. Yeah. And Sarah, what about yourself? Yeah, I started in Shaolin when I was 16. So 2018. No. Yeah. 2018 August. That's when I started. It's two and a half years now. So So you're like you're literally just both just beginning your journeys. It's That's why I think it's a great thing you're coming on here and you have Excuse the term, you have the balls to come on and actually like talk face-to-face and put yourselves out there. It's great not only for yourselves but for Cage Legacy and Irish MMA MMA as well. Ross, what do you think about that? Yeah. Yeah, I think it's absolutely fantastic. It's great to see not only Irish athletes but Irish female athletes were massive supporters of Irish women in sport. Barry will actually tell you his sporting hero was Katie Taylor. I always say Katie Taylor is the greatest Irish athlete of all time regardless of gender. So while we're talking about Irish athletes that we really admire, is there any athlete at all in the MMA world or just in the sporting world who you guys admire? We'll start with yourself, Sarah. Yeah, of course. I think I named the one like Katie Taylor as well. Like how can How can you not like the goat of all time? But um even the people I get to train with, especially the two girls in my club like Fiadh Davis and Leah McCourt. Like they're about like high level classic beyond world champion jiu-jitsu black belt and Liam McCourt like headline Bellator. So I'm really very blessed to be able to train with them and what they're doing what they're doing their work ethic like that inspires me as well. Like be what you want to be but surrounded by and that stuff. So yeah. And Sinead? Like you said there Katie here obviously like Sarah said how can you not do you know what I mean? She's done amazing things. But like my whole team my whole girl team in SBG like what we have six or seven pros. So I look up to them a lot you know they took me under their wing when I moved. So I can't choose one they're all they're all equally just as helpful as each other do you know what I mean? Yeah and then I suppose shoutout to both featherweights Leah McCourt and Sinead Kavanagh who both made it in the Bellator rankings this week. So great to see just Irish women making their mark on sport. It really really is. But as well if you have anything else to add in there? Yeah just quickly before we finish like what is it actually drives you to become the like the best mixed mixed martial artist you can be? Sinead I'll ask you first. And my family. They've known I've wanted to fight since I was about eight or nine. Since I started I loved it and they've given up a lot and they've paid for a lot and they've you know believed in me like they let me move across country they helped me move across country you know so I want to give back to them and the only way I can do that is what I'm good at I'm not really good at anything else you know what I mean? So this is the only way I can give back to them no matter how long it takes. And Sarah what about yourself? It just makes me feel like the whole sport it just makes me feel like no one else makes me feel do you know what I mean? Like it makes me feel alive like I know it's really cringey to say it but someone like trying to like take you down or trying to bash you around it just gives you that sense of like for me sense of purpose and a sense of like passion and obviously like the bigger goal is to like like set up a gym like and like help people and to just from your family as well of course like that's what I would say I want to give me mom back everything she's given me. But yeah just to do Do self proud sort of like it's even though it's a competition it is it's me against me all the time and to just keep on improving and bettering myself. Yeah. Also, shout out to Owen Roddy what he's doing. He was giving away giving free classes for women for self-defense. Stuff like that's unbelievable to see. But, uh like obviously if people didn't hear at the beginning like it is SBG Ireland against SBG Charlestown. So, like obviously John and Owen will be looking at this and like I'm sure they're going to be like what what but they will want to win you know you know what these lads are like. These are a champ champ coaches. But, uh Is this the prequel to Wim to Warrior? This is like this is this is this is literally like this is the one people have to watch out for in this card. Is there anything like John or Owen have been saying to you like been like they'll give you a they'll give you an extra they'll give you a bonus if you get a win. No, he doesn't care who I fight as long as I win as long as I win, you know what I mean? Yeah, okay. Same with yourself? Yeah, no. Just do me best but he knows I'll do me best to smash ourselves. Just that little bit of confidence as well. Yeah, this is what we're definitely have to look out for in this card. This is on Saturday, Cage Legacy The Aftermath. This is not to be missed. Rossy, you put out a great point on the last face-to-face we did with the two lads. Do you want to explain exactly why people have to pay for this this like this whole entire card? Yeah, well I think it's it's quite simple really. If you've ever watched Conor McGregor, which I'm sure you have. If you've ever watched Liam McCourt, you watched James Gallagher, you watched you know, back in the day Owen Roddy, you know, you think John Kavanagh is a nice guy, you like any Irish mixed martial artist whatsoever, you have to take out your wallet, take out your card, pull it into the one the fighter's bios, and pay for the fight. This is really really important for Irish MMA. This is the first fight in Irish MMA this year. It is happening in Dublin, April 4th, Cage Legacy The Aftermath. If you want to see the next wave of talent go into the UFC, go into Bellator, you have to buy this pay-per-view. It needs the financial backing behind it to make it happen. And look, tenner is nothing. It's less than two Yeah, it's less than two points, lads. You know what I mean? Yeah. So, uh look And that that tenner investment that tenner investment could eventually bring you on your holiday to Florida Island or Vegas or someday. So, I mean like it's like you're supporting stuff that like people love and like we love and obviously at the very very end we're going to let the two girls shout out their sponsors because like everyone knows how important sponsors are these days as well during these hard times. And these people want to just go out and perform at the end of the day. So, tenner was nothing and it will mean like it will be like a savage night of entertainment as well. So, just before we wrap things up, Sinead, do you want to mention your sponsors and then Sarah we'll let you mention your sponsors as well, Sinead. Yeah, I'll just Sorry. Uh obviously my team, um top section HQ. Um that's actually our sponsor at the moment. I'm not really. Yeah, for her, Sarah. Oh, sorry. Uh yeah, the pay-per-view link is in my bio if anyone wants to Yeah, I just let you guys know. For uh thanks to obviously everyone in my team, SPG Charters, and One Hit Management, like Paul Albury and Owen Roddy. Um Savage Gone to Ireland, The Hustle Kitchen, Ordy Exports, um EHD Sports, and Well, Justin Kennedy Nutrition. So, yeah, I'm very blessed to be surrounded Oh, [ __ ] Yeah, my nutritionist. Yeah, go on, Sinead. Yeah, that's your nutritionist. He's going to kill me if he knows that I forgot about him. He's in the UK anyways, so it doesn't matter. He's He's helping me with my weight you don't worry. We're going to make sure we tag them all as well just in case just in case cuz we have one of the lads yesterday he forgot someone but we we're going to make make sure that's all right. Yeah, but like yeah, girls like we're we're actually going to see Cardi this weekend. two push. Sorry. Reese's smile. Or I actually rest. Okay. It's okay. You can You can send us a DM afterwards of all the ones and we'll make sure they are tagged. Don't don't worry about it. Guys, just before we do go, Um, is there anything you'd like to say to Sarah before you go? No, just we're going to put a show on Saturday. That's all. And Sarah? Same goes. Can't wait for the bell. Good There we go. Well, all I want to say is the best of skill to both women. We really hope you both put on your best performance possible and let the best woman win.
