This weekend IUR FC has its 8th installment a night of champions, with a main card of back to back high level amateur title fights. Paul Browne the voice of Irish MMA joined me to talk about some of the fights.

[Music] foreign [Music] from nearly everything MMA in Ireland um he's the voice of nearly every show that we have here and he's going to be the voice for the upcoming your Fighting Championships show uh run by decky uh a fantastic card as always whenever I see the show coming up I know it's going to be well matched um thank you very much for joining me how are you and how excited for you are you for this show yeah deadly uh your age so it's this Sunday isn't it and it's yeah after a couple of weekends off now kind of got to be between me teeth for this one I got the chance to sit down today and uh go through the card and it's it's as always it's really good there's six title fights making up the main card so six total points back to back which is insane this promotion I love how it's grown so this is the eighth and it's almond obviously and commentary we're seeing these Fighters over and over and over and again like a lot of the fighters that fight on this show may make repeated appearances on the show like for instance Conor McCarthy's in the main event it's his sixth appearance on the promotion so there's a lot of Fighters like that that there's a lot of familiar names and the more they're fighting the more shows they have um you're seeing the fighters want to come back because they're treated well they're looked after it's run like clockwork it's run so slowly the team that won't let work on the show are amazing and the fighters love it the location is great as well normally because what you'll get is you'll get a lot of fighters from the south it's only an hour from Dublin it's very easy there's also it's a little easier red paper is for the fighter to fight in the north until it is in the South but you can fight on this one without having to go all the way to Belfast or all the way to Derry so there's there's quite a few factors that makes this promotion um attractive to the the fighters there's no crow fights on this one but the level on the main card is phenomenal there's there's Fighters there that you could easily easily stick and stick them in a profile and they would not knock out a place they'd look better than a lot of the pros so um it's as always it's stuck but this one's a little lighter numbers wise at the moment I think than some of the previously your parents decky McLean always loads them up and there's been some of them brothers were 24 or 25 fights on the card they get last counters about 15 confirmed he told me there's a possibility of a couple more being uh tagged on um at the last minute so uh an easier day's work for myself and mcgahan on the on the desk but uh I just can't wait because the last one was so good I just can't wait to go again you know yeah like you said I love the show like that for me for the traveling as well like yourself it's a little bit it doesn't seem like a long drive for me when I get I'm like it's only knowing like that I'm about 20 minutes from Dublin so for me when I go to Belfast it's nearly three hours it's about now I'm 15 depending on how fast I go and like you said do you know what the difference is it's when you get out there after the show and it's wrapped up and it's only 9 p.m and you're like I'll be home with me gas by 10. that's such a such a nice change of pace from some of the other long tracks isn't it yeah because it's been nice like that the the last cage conflict because it went on longer than expected I wasn't home for like four o'clock or something it was crazy I didn't work four or four o'clock and I didn't get home four o'clock so I was awake for 24 hours um but like that with this card what you mentioned was like Sarah Sheridan as well this will be a four appearance I believe on the show and I think the reason why they keep coming back like you said is they're treated well but it's not like some other shows or or the way she was one of the pastors if someone has a big name they'll come along and get a title shot Adam Mcenroe he's bought on the show quite a bit he hasn't fought for a while but he's getting the title shot as well so he I think he lost his last title shot but he's getting one again um I've been talking he said there's there's been massive improvements and he's he's got the bit between his teeth people who tend to do the show favor as you look at Nikolai from SBG or SBG mace I think nates are quite good as well yeah um yeah there's a good team on the card who was it Paul fit yeah because Nikola is facing Alex uh he responded to originally faced Paul Fitzgerald I believe and like that mace is always a club that would replace the fight or if a fighter goes out like that because deck is still going to them and then the clubs are so good back as well and it just seems to be a hand in hand sort of a thing and like I said it's a fantastic show there's been so many good moments with regards to no Pro I would assume there was going to be profiles because he's starting to get more but I like this idea of Conor McCarthy who debuted on their very first show headline in this show so I like that the amateurs the Night of Champions is called and that they're they are the main event they are it there's no Pro fights over and and I think like that because Conor is such like you said he's been on what this is the sixth time he's back over and over again that someone like him gets to Main Event the card like this that he was there when they started out and they were there for his diet out that is it's come to this so this is it's a fantastic show and I can't wait like that it is a little bit later on numbers might means we might be even home even earlier this time than usual but like that known decky he'll add another five fights tomorrow yeah yeah they're always meaty cards you know but do you know what I found with the the Euro carriers over the last year as well like there'd be 20 something points in there and you'll have one or two sort of curtain razors where you might have like a team Rules match maybe a novice fight but then straight away you're into a couple of amateurs on the carrier that have had a handful of fights and you know who they are there's very few Fighters there that like you'll be on some shows where the whole undercard I remember one show I worked the whole undercard of like five or six fights the combined record of the thought of the all of the fighters on the undercard was one and two or something like that you know so it's you don't have a whole lot of knowledge and notes on on of those Fighters so you're just sort of you're winging it on a commentary basis but on this one you'll always find like there's there's fights I I think of the last one you had um people like emra Darcy was fighting theme McGuire was like the first adult level fight on the card like and you know they're two very good Fighters they've only had a handful of fights each but you'd know them because you're not competing in various other uh disciplines as well it's usually nice and they're beefed up you know there's there's a good um volume to the card and it's the same this time around like there's a strong enough Wonder card with a few fights there's always a few names on there you're okay I can't wait to see him go again I can't wait to see what he looks like this time around and then obviously as you said the guys in the main character are all the ones who've been there over and over and earned their spot and now they're they're all getting the chance to fight for titles it's uh it's gonna be an exciting night you know yeah it is I like that you what you said I was only thinking the other day and I spoke to Becky about for us he he makes the the prelims younger card like that usually he does have a few more fights that if fights fall out a lot of these fights can just interchange from like undercard to main card obviously with the titles being on the line this time for the whole main card that probably wouldn't be the case but when they would have the Highland level amateur ones on the main card if something fell out they were able to easily replace it without a look in our place not a sort of way you're looking at people going I would have put him on the main card sometimes and that's that's how stacked and how good he's got this show too and like you said it's got it's down to him how he runs it and and just the way he does business and how he choose the fighters because ultimately you treat them right they're going to come back and that's obviously been the case yeah yeah speaking for Fighters you know um if the show was run well and things like that the starting time and whatnot anytime I've worked on this particular show I'm told Ray lovework you can offer three o'clock you know that most should be four over ten minutes behind schedule but more often than not it's actually kicked off at three o'clock you know and we've had to sort of sticky in a break or two just to give the staff a little breeder to go to the toilet and that kind of thing cage so we're going to take 10 minutes after this flight boom but it runs smooth as soon as it got the fires are out of the cage I'm announcing the next one I can see the runners have the guys at the door ready to go I love how that works and Fighters like that because you can just look at that and go right I know when I need to warm up I know when I need to eat you know that little things like that made such a difference when you're competing and uh people like they're watching fans don't realize that a lot of the time but if you're at a show where you know you're meant to say you know around six o'clock and it ends up being half eighth part of the nine you can be going in there having not eaten for five hours and you know you might have gotten yourself warmed up two or three times and cool back down and mentally that can be draining and that can really impact your performance so a shoulder generally runs the Clockwork you can look at it and go okay the main character X time and second on the main card I know I know when in and around I'm gonna be fighting that's massive for Fighters you know Fighters and coaches love that so I think that's that's probably a big reason why and obviously you know the setup there is nice uh the cage is nice the venue it's it's comfortable you're not stuck in a a cold dressing room with a guy club in the middle of December and things like that so it makes um you know little things like that all add up and make it a nice experience for the fighters and that's where a lot of them keep coming back yeah because I think most of the runners that he usually has our lives from Team Taurus you see the likes of Rory Lavery um the character Brothers like people like that or seeing Fox it's all the kind of voice Contours if they're not on the card and they actually haven't been on a lot of cars lately it's like the likes of ocean and stuff so they know what the fighters need so does andek he puts puts trust in them as well like you you rarely see decky running around in a packet Panic it's maybe happened once or twice but you've never really seen right now and panic he gets people in that you trust knows what to do for the fighters and they get it done for the fighters and like that that's what keeps bringing them back and and having these amazing shows that uh we've got to number eight now we're gonna have nine before the end of the year now obviously because of his injury he couldn't fight in October so he's fighting November which actually it was bad news for him but it was good news for Irish Regional fight fans because now we've got to your Fighting Championship shows yeah yeah there's one I think it's December isn't it the start of December we get uh we get one more before the year is out so that'll be a nice way to cap off the year and look from here on in now up until that point I was just going through Midori today this is another another MMA promotion about the release a date now toward the end of the year and obviously next week we're straight back in the deep end with a big cage Legacy card there's like most weekends now throughout the rest of the year or more often than not we have something going on you know and for me it's either in a cage Warriors event so they've got like for over the next nine weekends they've got five five cards so I'm working away every second weekend working with them and then we'll sprinkled in there's a serious handful of domestic shows here so uh busy times ahead and it's great like you said for the fighters pouches it's it's brilliant so the opportunities are there in abundance for people to uh to get wins on the records get performances get experience under a belt so great times you know yeah nowadays it is busy you're a little bit more busier than me obviously with cage wires and it seems to come in like that it's Peaks and valleys it won't be stopped for two or three weeks then all of a sudden two or three weeks it's on again and it's it's just it's crazy and then that's why I like now if once the shows are off for two or three weeks I like to take a breather because usually two weeks before the shows I am flat out and it's like yourself you'd always say for the job and then doing this as well it's it's not easy but we're going to get into the card but what we're going to say before we actually get in We're not gonna be picking winners or losers we're going to look at different fights and how we think they're gonna go um I would rather just let the fights play out amateur fights and see how it goes and then see see what happens after so is there any obviously we want them to get around to all the fights obviously because there is so many so if you want to start with a flight that you like from the the undercard uh yeah I think um Nikolai shiopou and Alex Fagan which we mentioned earlier that's a really good one um so Nicolas shop who was five and four all five of his wins have called me he sucked up over them all four of his defeats have gone the distance so the road the method Victory is there if you can drag him into deep Waters uh chances are you might come out on top you have more chance of coming out on top but he stops fighting win fights he actually won three fights in the stage for eight days there I think it's the end of March so he had two wins at the Nationals one weekend and then the following weekend on I think it was cage conflict and oh stopped all three of them so um you know he's he's been finding his feet his room in the last four about his three and one so he's really hitting a hot tree perform and he fights out at SVG nice and it's a very very very interesting fighter he's up against Alex Fagan Alex is one and four but it's slash three fight his last but they were two let me double check the names Jordan Scully Jake Gilpin and Dewey Harrison I mean there's not an easy fight there and those were all very very close decision losses in really entertaining fights are you really right Alex uh I think it's it's just like he's a step or two a fight or two away from teams you know slipping into place and get you know finding the difference between getting your hand raised and walking away from those fights dejected the amateur career is all about building up experience he has the skill sets and it's just a case of uh finding that extra little uh just you know like I said getting those victories so I think that one's got the potential to be a really good fight I think skill steel wise these guys are really well matched so there's one I'm really looking forward yeah notice I know Alex as well and like you said the skill set and everything's there I've been speaking to him he said he's ready he said since the last time he's fought he's he's come on leaves and balanced Fighters are always going to say that but the conviction and what he said it to me I believe it and he's not gonna like he's gone into this fight with Nick like it was originally supposed to be part of his Sheriff um but I whatever happens sometimes injuries or whatever happens the names are very good that would have been a good point too that would have been a really really good matchup as well if both of them would have just stood there and it would have been a great strike in there match up you know I would really like I still want to see that fight after this fight massive at Broad neckline like I said the root of Victory is you need to try and drag him into the deep Waters um like that or Alex could potentially want to go for a finish himself it depends on how confident he is how much he he feels is improves since then since his last fight um he seems very confident from what I've been talking to him so I think that has the potential to be probably one of the fights on on the undercut but like that you could say that about a lot of the fights on them because there is quite a few mm-hmm yeah well Alex's fight against uh Jake Gilpin was was one of those it was a brilliant freak you know and it's funny against Stewie Harrison again just that performances are really good just missing that little extra five percent to be the difference between winning and losing but you keep training you keep working hard eventually that just slips into place so uh yeah it'd be very interesting to see how we go you've got a tough test here nobody's finished Shield who he had in nine fights so um he is a tough guy you know so that's a really good one you know the other one I was looking at when I looked at the undercard and it stood out to me was Dewey Harrison who I've just mentioned and he's fighting Brendan Branigan from Team KF so Brendan's four and one uh three of those fights I think came yeah they were over in the UK so they're against toys that we wouldn't know what they're already saying we picked up a victory over Michael Shields and cage conflict Michael Shields is No Easy Day Out for anybody so um Brendan's only defeat came to Vladimir stanker that was a split decision last and Vladimir of Sanka is absolutely ripping it up here on the amateur scene so that gives you some idea of what so you know he's he'll be coming in there confident he's training with guys that are flying high and doing well um Dewey Harrison I'm always very impressed with he I think did he lose his horse too he lost his first two mouse yeah so he's three and one in his last four so he's another guy who's hit a bit of form you know sometimes it takes guys a little time to to find their feet when they start fighting you know just making in cage decisions at the right time Dewey's Muay Thai I love watching it's just really really uh slick you know he's he's tough as they come he just gets into a good fight but he's uh he's exciting to watch he's got wins over Alex Connelly Nick rebriano which is well that was a brilliant for you for me and then Alex Fagan of course who we just spoke about so he's in there and he's beating good guys you know it was Adam Mcenroe and Jess parallel who are both fighting for titles they're the two guys that have beaten him most recently so it's you know his level is good so the two of those guys coming up against each other something's got to give and I think that one's gonna be a real standout as well for me yeah it is because when he actually fought Adam Mcenroe I think he debuted and then his second fight was just like that's your baptism of fire going into fights yeah is is people those look better now with the time that's passed you look at those fights now go whoa that's all you know that that that's good experience under the bed you thought too really good guys you know so let's see what we're after what Sunday brings yeah and every one of his fights is exciting I think actually the Jess powder one was he actually fell down I think it might have been his arm or his wrist he actually it was due to injury was was how it was stopped um he beat Alex Connelly it was the was it real naked or was it a guillotine at the end of the round and because Alex wasn't responsive after the buzzer went uh so that was like nailed by one it was actually that was actually given as three minutes on the third round that was it because I had to announce that one and it was like there was a bit of uncertainty going on as what had actually happened because he had the choke and the clacker went and he was still in the choke and Alex is still awake and Alex Connelly was after peace and not piecing up Theory but he was ahead on the scorecards because he had he's a good so far he'd been Landing that straight left helmet down the pipe over and over through that fight I remember it well it was commentating on it as well and he was just he was he wasn't coasting but he was well on his way through a good victory Dewey just pulled it on put it on her adjustment of Nothing to Lose here in the last few minutes or so and went and went and went and he got that rear naked choke something and the 10 second clacker went and everyone everyone was on their feet it was one of those nails like is he going attack is he going to happen he didn't tap the rest stopped them when The Bear Went and I don't think the ref relays at the time rate that he was done he stopped him and then I accidentally used to still just stayed still on the floor again he was out with his eyes were opens and reference just assuming he was going to get up but he didn't get up so they were like oh well what oh what happens here oh yeah well obviously that's a submission because you can't answer the Bell so it's over so it went down as a submission on three minutes of the third and final round which was yeah part of the way dramatically with brilliant you know I remember that at the time because I interviewed Alex after and and that's what he said he goes like to be beaten like that was put like that he performed well like I said Dewey always has these except something crazy always happens in his face like that yeah it's a standard bang or it's like that something at the last minute but Brendan Branigan like I said it only lost the stanker the KF Lads actually go across to the UK a lot to fight um like you said there's a good they're all hitting form Don norcus recently he won he he in 50 something seconds he battered German and and you might he hit your man a jab and the ref that was it and Chris Fields has this like they just seem to have this standard at the minute if you're not good enough you're not going out to fight I think it seems to be the ethos with them because they come out and they seem to perform every time they come out and if they don't perform you've been cave side they hear about her um so this like you said this has the the makings have been an absolute cracker of a fight and it was I believe it's kind of the the main event on the prelims would I be correct no I think the rule in order I have at the moment and there are two more points after it sort of deck and Ryan taking on Garrett McCormick Eric's tense amateur fight now I believe uh so that's you know a really it's gonna be a really good level there as well and then you've got Shay Latham taking on Josh Green so there's there's plenty of good fights going on there on the card it's it's neatly enough even on the undercarriage you know and by the time that's all over and then we step into the toilet fight and then it would be well warmed up at that point and we'll be ready for some some really good action at that point you know just beat Jess recently uh cage Conflict for the penalty sport Jordan O'Neill twice like Conan he's got a wealth of experience going in against Declan Ryan who had a highlight kind of knockout against Paul Fitzgerald on one of the earlier shows on your Fighting Championship as well so he's another one I think he's he's been he hasn't been so active recently but he seems to be back now and and that's a good fight because I think they were supposed to be fighting different opponents something fell out and and it all came together like this so like I said they're just a war monster is plenty more there's ocean daily from Taurus there's so many fighters like I said we can't name them all but there is so many good fights to get us warmed up for this absolutely banging main event or maybe yeah main character sorry um yeah yeah six six weeks back to back I mean that's gonna be a nice novel experience yeah I don't think we've had that yet that's a sort of depth of toilet floating on one cardboard um the opener is is a really fascinating one the lightweight title so you've got Jake Gilpin fighting out a sec Yoku and he's fighting Adam Mcenroe so Jackson we just spoke about uh another team KF player coming back after a little break and jobs are as well as the Joker has had 12 fights already amateur fights or a really experienced fighter he's been out there working Gilpin I'm so impressed with he's five and three at the moment his last two belts he's been getting better and better and better he was he's the first time I saw him I think was the Alex Sagan fight a really good striking match so he'd stayed really high level striking from both stances and I was blown away by how good he was but just the Improvement fight by fight he fought um who have you fight today he won the Euro title a couple of about the goal was Aaron Boyle yeah and he won that and then in his lasso he got a brilliant victory over Marek Soup for the Akuma belt so his last two points were point of Victories now he's coming back to defend himself against Joker and again Joseph A guy who's fighting consistently and racking up the experience and the second lands are you know they're they're building they're grown and I'm really excited just to see the Improvement this guy is showing over and over and really excited to see where he can go you know yeah like that I've I've kind of seen him from the start as well and I actually said to him after his last performance I just said echoed exactly what you just said I said you get better and better every time I see you whether it be striking grappling he seems to be so well-rounded and like that he has been I I don't have the days here but like that five or three record has been built quite quickly I believe he's been quite active hasn't he yeah I don't have the dates here it's wrong to me but we've been very quick he's foreign but then he fell on the seat and got going and like you said striking ungrapping because even in the last one he gets married soon I've trained with Mario he's really strong really good Grappler a couple of good iron bar finishes on his record already so even on commentary I was saying right well this is kind of very much Striker versus Grappler and Mark was trying to get takedown in the tour around and it was all to play for it was Jake that was coming on strong and Jake was taking him down so I mean I think Jake even had his back possibly I won't be remembering that incorrectly it was what Akuma was wild at night I think it was still busy after the Damian McGregor knocked out just before but it was uh it was just you know a brilliant performance and uh he's improving on our levels I'm very interested to see what jokes already looks like as well like we said Jox has had a little bit of a break he's got wins over because he's under card as well he's got winds over like Dewey Harrison and we just spoke about Sam Simon who's fighting in the main event structures no mortgage you know what I mean he's um and he puts in the work you know if you you follow him on the social media everyone knows the jokes are sweating into the camera so um he's constantly grafting you know what I mean and uh very interesting to see how both of these guys shape up against each other what a cracking way to open the card yeah it is like that Jake's looks very impressive and Josh like I said he's taking that break in that time because I I speak to him he's he finished College he started his job he's about to become a father I don't know whether it's going to be yes um in that time so congratulations to you and yours in that time he just said he's been just looking at what's been going wrong in his face and what he's fixing like uh like you said if you see he's the sweat and you do see the KN boys do the jobs of impression or they can find someone who do the jokes on fashion books he wants this bad he wants this bad Jake's gonna want this bad like this is going like to open this like to open the main event this is going to be a cracker of a card most of their fights go to a decision right when I looked at the mall roll but I don't think this one will for some reason yeah yeah yeah it's um it's a really fascinating matchup you know um that belt stopped out there Jacob who's now making a source title defense and you know sometimes you know that can as far as can feel a little bit of pressure from that as well so it's just yeah it's interesting solitically as well just to see how Adam Mcenroe gets gets the grips with Jake and Jacob is very mobile Striker you know so uh yeah interesting interesting can't wait for that one you know okay so the next fight then after is obviously Sarah and emo we talked about obviously Sarah been uh repeat competitor on the show so rightfully she's gone there then imadas he's made quite a splash he's treating two under in less than 12 months Sarah's been there she's been quite active as of late and she's kind of put herself at the top of the pile I think of of the females within Ireland in the amateur scene yeah yeah Sarah's age amateur fight now I believe and you you look at her record like she picked up two wins there in June it's Gemma Brown and Chloe crows you're too in the spaces I think it was a week or eight days or something and um you know she'd be going through a bit of a tough time so it was good to see um or do that and just get back on track and then you look back at our record she also's wins Overland and Raquel Garcia and then you look at that that now and what they've done since you're like oh Jesus those winds actually look a lot better and they ordered a bit of time has passed so she she has really good um ability there she puts in the work you know she's got her hands full with a really good opponent here now for this Phantom wavel to Emerald Darcy Lucas said aimer's record is three and two over the last year but a lot of kickboxing experience so it goes what quite a few K1 shows where emers been fighting for titles and that kind of thing so um it's been interesting watching her transition into MMA so the style she would generally use her boxing is very good but she you would have seen a lot of this side on stance lead legs sorry kick and that thing where the kickboxers love their three yeah you lift the leg up and you throw multiple kicks while the leg is in the air you know that that sort of flick flick flicky stuff you can't do that in MMA you can't leave your leg up there do you know what I mean that leg is going to get grabbed and dragged and someone's going to be on top of you or on your back so she has kind of eliminated that to the point I think in her last though against the Lawrence Gallagher I don't think she even drew a kick or barely true yeah yeah and you know she finished her with shots to the body she was going up top and she was hitting shots to the body and mixing things up and uh TKO with a body shot you know just I think she cracked into a castle uh muscle or something like that or did some damage there did some cartilage amateur or something it was really painful looking one um the previous win to that in the ER cage against Thea magoir was very very impressed with um so what she was doing well was she was working behind her Jabs so so well it's very difficult to get past that job and that's the challenge that Sarah is going to have now so you know it's going to be slipping the head off the center and maybe Landing Stitch ABS slipping the head onto the inside or coming over the top with the right hand little things like that will be a key here because Emer has really good reach and just accuracy and actually hits hard and she throws that jab and you know it's annoying trying to get past it but the shots that are coming behind it are powerful ones so a really interesting contrast of soils I think Sarah my guess will be that Sarah is probably going to be trying to get this out to the ground uh Sarah has looked really good in the grappling of course she got that really good joke Victory didn't she in in that last pair of wins she got so um and in other fights as well she thought Terry Ann Vernon who had a similar style last year Kerry works well behind that jab straight shots one two and um managed to you know land the north to win the first couple of rounds there was a round where Sarah got a hold of her and got her down but I think at that point maybe she was a bit too fatigued to to make it count and you know she's developed a lot since then so she's not the same fighter but I think that's the interesting stylistic matchup that's a play here for this Phantom weight belt yeah what I noticed about Emer like I said I don't believe she she uh true okay I asked you this before we started and I rewatched the fight and I still can't remember I don't think she's so what I did say like I said that jab but that right hand is coming straight as soon as that jab lands in the last fight more so against Lords that jab landed and then right hand was nearly immediately over so there was no Telegraph and it was you're getting pop pop and then you were getting hurt and like that when Laura's then was going to cover up it was to the body and it was so precise it was so powerful and it was so quick I like that without throwing a kick because obviously like you said with the sidekicks or the front arm kicks as he continues she will pick she will be kicking hitting those calf kicks hitting those head kicks like what we're seeing with her boxing now once she's trained with Sean O'Bannon a couple of times I believe as well um so imagine how that's gonna bring her on but like you said it's it's such a good contrast to size Sarah is able to get guards into positions Advance the positions and put them in really uncomfortable positions where she's getting enough damage to win the fight and for a striker if she's fighting a striker it's so frustrating because it's very rare that Sarah let someone back up or is able to get back up once Sarah gets them down she will move them into another position she'll make it hard she'll grind it out and she'll just wear them down and damage them and then win the fight like you said she's got that submission track as well once it gets to the ground but Emma showed fantastic take down defense against fear who comes from MMA cork which is a huge like really fantastic wrestling gym and no matter what for your dance he just couldn't seem to get her down like said she was kept on the ends of jab so already as a coach uh for striking as well so I I'd say Andrew said with the previous experience against Kerry I reckon they have a plan device of how they can go on and try and utilize the game plan to be Emo and then obviously Universe got the same one so that's what makes it so exciting it's like what style is gonna who's gonna Implement her style and it might be weird to do them one might Sarah might want to stand a strike and even by going to the ground but I don't think so yeah well they've actually been matched to fight before as well I believe so you know there's probably been a little look and watching going on uh for a little while from both sides and trying to put holes in each other's games and as you said there they'll have had a full camp now to to prepare for this on both sides so it's going to be interesting to see what both teams bring to the table it's a really interesting matchup just as contrasting soils and you know Ronnie like you mentioned there he's a brilliant coach so kind of a time to plan they know that Emerson's danger there the parimer used brilliantly to stop Fear mcgoy or take her down was she basically just owned that space between her and her opponent and didn't didn't allow her opponent to step in and close the distance every time she stepped in she was meeting the jab and that so it was it was making life very difficult for her and then by the time see it did get a hold of aimer she was just a bit too beaten up to to really be a operating um or firing on all cylinders and actually get get the fight where she wanted it to be so you know the pathway is laid out there that the longer these foyer's amateur careers go on the more footage there is of them so the more your opponent can study you the better you get your opponent has more opportunity to try and figure out a way to stop your A-game so yeah this is one of those fights now where both of these have a handful of fights now they can watch each other they've seen each other fight repeatedly so it's interesting to see how they figure each other out yes basically whoever's game is able to implement their game plan on the night and who's better on the night and like that is fantastic fight it's the first ever Women's Amateur Championship on your Fighting Championship as well so they'll be making history as well so the winner The Winner Takes it all so after them who have we got we've got Jess is it next can I I have the flow rates next time yeah yeah So Jamie said and David Logan what a fight it's like Damian McGregor viral sensation um Damien's actually he's not even one he's on a fire fight win streak uh and it's just the 18 or 19 years of age it's looking better and better all the time um yeah because the last year year seven you got that triangle finish over Kean McCarron and then he went and he got that wheel kick victory over Machu Brio and that performance I mean if anyone watched it you'll have heard me lose me bleeding Marvels on the commentary myself and and Reese to sail and The Comedy Room we're all just blown away it was one of those moments a year and Eric horse you you know what it was like it was one of those moments where everyone in the place was on their feet it was just uh you remember forever it was one of those because it was so good it was that Dynamics and that explosive um stylistically I think Jamie where Damien's dangerous obviously that kick in Rage and those spinning shots Jesus Christ the danger is evident to see but his guard as well when he's on his back you know the threat to triangles and arm bars as well is there um I think Jamie Jamie's a really really good Grappler so it's going to be very difficult to catch him in something in those positions and where he stands out for me with his striking is the boxing Rangers so if he can get inside those kicking distances and we get to work with the hands we saw some really good work in the back the boat against Gary Rooney James this is only a second fight this year but he had 12 fights in 2022 so he's this is his 20th 19th 19th 19th amateur fights so what I'm you know what a serious level of experience he's been building up the the training Partners as well that are available to Jamie like guys that I see in team Rhino all the time in and around that weight class sister's good guys plan a new gen amateur level like Sean Brazil and Aaron Henry then you've got chair Harris of course who's who's fighting about cage warriors uh very soon as well so there's a really good selection um of four years in and around that weight class uh it someone that moves like Damian mcguigan with that speed it won't be something that he's not used to especially after 18 amateur or yeah he's at 17 fights already so um you know you're not going to collect much ABD he hasn't seen before um he's been in there with the best of the best I thought you Gary Rooney just that'll live forever in the memory as well so this will just yeah just two guys I spoke at the Sarah to Karen about fights that you could put them into where you you could change this to a pro fight and they wouldn't look out of place both of these guys we said it I think we sat on reset it on commentary when Damien fought the last time this episode um and reset these would look better than some pros if this was a profile you know what I mean that they're at that level because that's why it was so good and this one the two guys are at a really high level I believe Jamie is very very close to making the step into the pro ranks as well so um yeah just one I can't wait for again yeah I I think I'd Echo your thoughts as well I think there's no one else really for him to face within that division that he hasn't already fought whether he's one or he's lost he's taken that experience and it's going to be his eventual turn pro one and he's taking this fight very seriously as well as Damian mcguigan had said to me he reckons Matthew Freel wasn't taking him seriously and thought it was a bit too early I think he had said to me that Matthew said it was too early in his Armstrong's career to be fighting someone like him and we were all there the way he set that up leg kick leg kick leg kick and he just stopped there and span on the spot I was sitting there this is probably my most viewed video it's like 50 000 views or plays or whatever and I think I went and I mounted to like you Phil and Rhys what uh like like it was I think that's what I said on commentary your jaw was on the floor it was wild wasn't it yeah I like that I've I've I started in film I think towards the end of his kind of like his you or Cadet kind of career and he was William belts then and he was going to the UK then and like the training partners he has as well but like I said Jamie has this experience and it's grappling as well he never looked once uncomfortable with Gary Rooney Gary who only can't win some submissions he was able to get out of it I think he worked so well uh from the bottom against Gary Rooney I don't think when Gary takes people down he's able to smolder them Advance some position ground and pound or get submission Jamie was actually throwing up shots from the bomb he was throwing his own submissions up as well like Jay like you said this is a really high level fight and what I love about these flyweights is they're so exciting all the time and you've got Jamie who's been that I I believe he was that first ever super cup he's been at multiple lineups he's fought the best of the best around the world not only regionally so it's going to be interesting to see how this one pans out like I said I reckon he's taking Damian seriously especially after the last fight and I don't think he would I don't think he would have taken this fight if he thought it was an easy fight I think Jaime wants these half fights if you look at his topology you're just like you for who and you look through the names and you're like my God like he's been there with the best of the best and he is one of the best at right like he's up there in the flyweights and I think the turnpro will go soon but for now I just can't wait to see this fight um yeah um one thing that'll probably work in his favor is that he definitely won't be taking Damian McQueen and likely like in the same way that you mentioned there he won't be looking past them you know thinking oh this guy only has like six fights or whatever so he's probably not on my level I don't think there'll be any of that going on he's going to realize after that that fight a few weeks ago Jesus this guy is is very dangerous they need to be switched on for this one so yeah yeah Fly Away fights are just I think they're just the best can't wait yeah nowaday's gonna be good on it then obviously you've got here in coogans come back because Kevin Coogan was the person who was originally scheduled for some of these fights with Macho Freel with no he fought Master three with Jamie Abbott and then he obviously his engine he's out for quite a while and Damian slide in there and hasn't looked our place so when Karen Coogan comes back it's gonna be even more interesting so um that's a fantastic fight I can't wait to see that and see who gets crowned at a chance so what is up next then the running order I have next is the Welterweight Title just how low against Manta socilius so that's an interesting one um mantis Samantha's taking this on on short notes yes because Daryl Ward I think that award that's it because I was looking for Daryl Wardman on the street but I think Jess and mantis and Dara Ward and mantis and I think all these people have been scheduled to fight together but it's never happened it's like around Robin sort of thing and yeah yeah it comes together now all Manchester's wins I believe four wins advice submission as well you wouldn't expect anything less from Akira and Davon student who watch Jess Powell are so good at is making good Fighters look ordinary and it might not always be the most exciting game plan but it's using an effective game fan and it usually comes out on top you can see that with multiple titles uh probably one of the best if not the best welterweight within the country like just just so much going on in this fight what do you make of the fight it's an interesting one really like you said Memphis four and four we've got four wins by submission Jess has been known to take place down and growing the milk in the top position like you mentioned there somebody fights haven't been overly excited I know that that's something that Jess wants to improve on because he's getting closer and closer now to stepping into the pro ranks and it's a little harder to grind out a full round and nullify your opponent for five minutes than it is for three minutes and also um you know you're you're talking about scoring damage and impactful striking and that Jess has said to me like that you know these are improvements that I need to make in my game so I think you might you if we find it find the fight in that position you might see guests throwing a little more uh or doing a little more damage or they are trying to in those positions you know or just being up a little bit more active those are things that it'll have to improve on it if he does want to go pro but um 16 amateur fights already you know that he's he's one of these guys that's he's on every promotion and he's he's holding a lot about sales as well mantis four wins point submission he's also last three voice submission so you know I mean he goes for it sometimes it doesn't pay off but he carries a threat and I'm going there coming in here with nothing to lose he sees playing with house money you know he's just taking this late notice like nobody's expecting him to be just held up guess parallel takes him down you know mantis is uh he's got Wings Over the looks of Brian Manning Peter helping his decent fighters on his record so yeah don't count them out you know what I mean it's um it's a test a good test for Jess and it's it's the test for me for test will be not whether or not you can win the win or lose this fight because guess has won and last fight screws for a career it's your amateur career that's what it's about well can he Implement some slight stylistic changes you know that might stand to him going forward because he's getting look at that he's getting very close now to making the jump to the pro ranks that's what I want to see yeah and like that he's only in MMA three years I want to say which is is ridiculous and you see just as Alexis and even people that beat and Paul Buckley said to me after I just couldn't figure him out Dave I just I just like it just mine when he got me down I didn't know what he was going to do next he he wasn't easy to read um he was hard to get off and and like that he does have that arsenal of the Striking and he's got the range he's a very big guy I don't know how he ever made lightweight but he did um twice these are two of the biggest welterweights around as well like mantis cuts a lot of weight he is absolutely shredded and I think that that actually played against him in one of the fights I commentated on recently it would have been on this show yeah but I remember yeah because I said it in the garden I suddenly he's visibly tired here in the third round and he he clearly cuts a good chunk away to make this way could that be a factor do you know what I mean so valko is our big welterweight sport yeah Jess does have amazing reach here serious reach you know yeah and I wonder like that because he comes from Santa his brother fought just recently on ukfc head Kick City I don't know if you've seen the highlights yeah head kicks here head kicks there so um uh apparently Jess was there watching on what am I gonna have to do this weekend but like that it's good that Jess is aware of those those uh what he needs to improve like I said that strike is that he just needs to use it he needs to use that reach he needs to use that and this like I said this might be the opportunity this this is the opportunity to do it you go to the ground with mantis it could be a 50 50 that you'll get sober he'll get some because Jess does have some subs but like that open it up a bit more and see how it goes it is a really exciting fight the Dara award against the two of these guys at one stage is fights I want to see and I hope I'd reckon they will get made hopefully he's not out for a long time we don't know what's wrong but this is an absolute Bangor of a fight when a fight falls out for decky he just seems to just pull out a master shock like who was it that he pulled out it was like Tyrion and locker room came in was it tearing lock and came in as the last minute oh yeah yeah yeah that wasn't left on the last show yeah oh yeah Kevin kill stepped in for a title fight with Karen and locker room yeah yeah yeah and it was great brilliant yeah it was it's a fantastic fight and Kevin killed with only a three or four flights at the time Tyrion had that and he didn't look out of place but Jackie just has like that and I think it's like we talked about the relationships he's formed were people and and how people know him through the years of fighting that he can get these people in like and especially if there's a tight London line it's a little bit easier to hang their carrot in front of people and we've got an amazing fight here now although there was an amazing fight before but this is equally as good and I think like I said with the intricacies of that submission track and then Jess potentially open up into the Striking it's looking very exciting this fight yeah yeah and then there's two more points after that there's uh the coal main event for the bantamweight belt and that's that's a really good it could be an interest in Jiu Jitsu for nna matchup here and Brady and Ross query so here and Brady is now ten until um he had that recent uh appearance on virtus where he won two fights in one night on that four-man Grand Prix format so he got the wins over Jared Ryan and Dale Sheridan he looks Sensational the back take on Jared Ryan was unbelievable and he um he is an exceptional Grappler in mixed martial arts so he's really finding his um he's on a firefight win streak as well so he's really finding good form Ross craney who has had I think 16 amateur fights Ross had a few fights way back when and then between 2000 he stopped in 2016 came back in 2021 and he's been very active I think seven or eight fights since and uh he's got five submission wins to his name so he's a really dangerous uh Grappler he had a great inverted triangle finish on UK FC a few months back as well and he's training in CMAC with you know the life to Kikyo and Alexandra sort of lots of really good guys in and around that weight class and now you're adding a couple of younger up-and-coming fighters in there like uh Jake Nye uh Henry lekko we saw him make a debut on virtus the guys that are running around that Banton weight uh weight pass just look so so good so they're all there to bounce off each other and Ross is there as long as any of them and a really really entertaining fighter to what particularly when it comes to the grappling so I'm really interested to see how this one looks if it hits the man and I hope it does um it definitely is going to hit them out because that is both there so it's like like I said Russ when he took that break when he was welcome back to remember who he's welcome back by Gary Rooney James Rooney and Karma Conway they were his first three fights back uh he went in and he won gold at the four nations and then obviously that inverter triangle at ukfc uh Kieran Brady has just been Sensational he's beaten Jordan Bradshaw like that uh Jordan Bradshaw Jack core twice for the Flyway title like Clan Wars uh the Grand Prix and that's led to the streak and kieron is very good like kind of like Jess he would grind it out and he'll always look like he'll always be causing damage he's not holding you he's he's looking for it but like you said Ross has five out of seven wins as submissions I think one's a TKO so when Ross wins it really doesn't go at a distance but when Cairns it does Go the Distance most of the time not all of the time his obviously he got the back take so it'll be an interesting one to see once again close to the ground like it's kind of like you said with mantis as well does Russ has been submitted himself so Ross is going to go for it and could potentially get caught but he could potentially be victorious he's been around quite a while and I think this is something he's deserved he's except that was quite a long break and to be welcomed back by dollars for you guys is like was unbelievable and then to win gold go over there with the the Irish team and I think there was only one person who didn't come back at gold and I think they came back with silver and they had to fight the tournament that that Irish team that went off to four nations last year was Sensational so it's it's a really interesting flight it's one of the ones when it goes to the max you're gonna wanted to go to the matter well people like me and you and know the scene will want that to hit the Max from the beginning and stay there from beginning to end and and see who comes out on top yeah yeah I think I should just come out from the slap fist bump and just sit down and get stuck in to stay over just you just entertain the Jets and everything else you know so um really good kind of yeah a contrast of grappling soils for Boko is clearly very high level um Floyd's Phantom weights in this country of amateur Emperor like we're just there's an abundance of real talent there you know so that's it that's a cracking matchup again two goal is a brilliant experience um Brady has 12 fights and who only has 16. like there's a lot of the fighters we're seeing on this card have a serious amount of amateur built now now that the lockdowns are out of the way and the shows are all back in abundance and people have been able to rack up appearances and also go off and compete on things like the four nations or go to the imfs people are building their experience Bank very very well over the this last world was plenty of guys there was 14 15 16 amateur fights already now we're seeing on this card so that just spoiled really well for the future of the storytellion yeah it is and like that they are with those autonomous the foreign agents you could have two three four fights I imagine you if you get to find you could have five fights and it's all just experience and the UK are taking a lot of ice Riders off we have seen apfc without taking a good few Irish Fighters over uh next month ukfc usually brings people over like they did last weekend FCC brings Fighters over so there's options for them there and like I said within like you said with your calendar for the end of the year the show there's so many shows Jake guy uh like I said he he went ten and two and I want to say less than eight in months like that's how quickly yeah I think 11 months or something like that or no sorry 13 months something like that um I remember just looking at me notes there before his last help and uh I pulled put up a little highlight video over there at the weekend and just reminding me Jesus how good is this cage you know so they're they're in and around that weight class there's guys there racking up serious experience guys like him and as I said you mentioned Jamie had 12 fights in one year these guys are building up a big level of fight experience in a short period of time and then you add on another couple of years of training behind that they become a very tantalizing Prospect to enter the professional ranks because Jake's only JT went off is he 19 or something like that and then you don't need to be going into the programs probably yet anyway do you know what I mean it's got it like that will reach a point where Max alley telling himself nobody room for a fighter because you're an amateur but you've had a ridiculous amount of fights you're on a crazy win streak and there's no one out there that's there's not going to be enough Fighters out there that you haven't already beaten that have more than five or six fights at their names you gotta be left with no choice but to go pro but look what a nice problem to have you know so you're better off being well prepared before you go into the pro Banks and uh that's what the amateur career is all about you go back to all in all once you you turn pro anyway you know yeah so avoid the best toys yeah like they say it's bad for you looking at it than looking for it so if they've got that experience there like I said they go into the programs like you you've mentioned most of the a lot of the fights are better than a lot of pro fights at entry level on on other shows in other countries it's just the talent we have is amazing and that leads us then to the main event yes um Conor McCarthy and Sam Simon for the super lightweight title uh fair play to Sam jumping in on this one I don't think I just mentioned there Connor couldn't really get a match for this one you know because Hunter has thought everybody 10-2 and King mentions on the L triangle last week uh that uh yes maybe his last amateur though so you know Conor is one of those lawyers since we started doing this commentary thing over the last year and a half anyone asks me who are the best guys who are the guys the highest level amateurs in the country who are the ones you most enjoy watching who are the ones to look out for Connor is is right up there um he's one of the names that are one of the first names that I dish out to people who've commentated as I said this has been his uh I think his sixth appearance on the show so I've commentated on nearly all of those um I just love watching disco fight this boxing is just unbelievably slick um it's defense of wrestling it's very good he's hard to get a hold of that that five round uh destruction of a really good fighter on an island was just it was mind-blowing to me and I I really just enjoyed watching them and I I just think that he is he's the perfect type of fighter I think he's only 19 or 20 to go forward into the pro ranks and and start to to really make a name for himself you know he's um he's got all the skills in the world and I can't wait to see the half stepper in action this weekend yeah no he's very good I've I've had the pleasure of interviewing him a couple of times I actually had him on in depth there I don't want to say quite recently I want to say within the last two or three months he was someone who was fascinated me and when it came to him versus Jess Paolo a lot of people are like is he gonna be able to stop just taking him down he did um Conan like I said we were looking at I was looking at that fight with decky when when he it was being made and I was like yeah I think Conor Nolan was probably the best fit to fight him at that stage especially for who was a really good Striker Connor Nolan is a very very good Striker for me you know I love watching him fight but because we saw the levels you know yeah and like that you see him improve fight on fight and fight and fight and he trains obviously in nature trains in Charlestown as well like he he goes all over and he works so hard he does The Beginner's MMA which I've gone up to in nice and he's like he's a very good he's very good at relaying the knowledge then to people coming in so I think like you said if people ask me who's gonna be a superstar out of Ireland and this isn't against anyone else but the likes the two guys that can be making there they've used a cage Legacy would have been to the Sprint of mine Conor McCarthy was someone that was always sprang to mind as well there is more kind of on the cusp of there as well but like you said I think Conor McCarthy after this fight probably is probably there's no other option the only fight I probably would have liked to see him in and I mentioned Suzuki for this one if he didn't get it but I think the guy's going um Pro was Charlie Lynch Spence or Charlie Spence Lynch who fought sent and I would also like to see him fight seven but when that fight was being talked about I think sennan only had three fights Connor maybe had nine or yeah yeah so not that there was a skill Gap there was a big experience Gap there as well I think that would be a fight I'd like to see but I think that time for that that fight has passed um yeah I think it's I think it's Pro now for him after this I I don't think there's much you need to round off in his game if you look at his performances is he's he's pretty solid going into into Pro but he comes up like said Sam comes in when no one has wanted to he's four and two since he kind of came back because he was out for for eight years nine years an injury two injuries he had to wait three and a half years for one surgery and four years for another surgery on one leg then another he came back he came back against Adam uh who we spoke about earlier uh he lost that fight and then he's he's won and lost but he's got visibly better he always had strong wrestling that seems to get better and better but he's added like front kicks psych and his strike and has got better and better as well so this will be an interest and this will be an interesting fight I really want to see Sam recently bet Julian our team KF and we've talked about how good those KF Lads are and Sam looked like that I've never seen him look so good so if he takes the form from that fight and his previous fights into this fight he's going to give Conor a very very good fight and I like that it's it's going to be very good for us to watch yeah like the long breaks and Sam has come back but Sam has the look I wouldn't say the luxury for Sam has a brother that we trained a lot with who is a [ __ ] physical specimen and I know because I train with people occasionally and yeah when he gets a hold here it's it's not pretty it's you know some guys just have this just very very out there level of you know um just ability athletic ability and when I first asked the coaches the Waterford Rhino coaches the first time when Sam was making his comeback uh it was sort of that Solomon's brother isn't it and they were telling me all about them they're like wait you see how strong and how powerful this fella is you know so he's come back and he's sort of took a couple of fights to find his feet but that's to be accepted after a very long breakout and now he's he's at that level where he's challenging for titles on the amateur scene he's really finding his rhythm finding the seat and look he stepped up to the plate against this guy Conor McCarthy where no one else would so that speaks volumes for his confidence um a lunar fire that's just improving all the time and much like his brother you know and when you've got a brother that you can work with and and sparrow with it like they're pumped in and around the same size and you know they're both Fighters a long long long time so you know they'll have they'll have put lots of work in together money in the bank and then you know Sam so um he can go in there and risk it all and just go for it you know so yeah interesting point yeah and I was a very good fight and that's that that's like he wants another title he said the one thing that kept him going through that eight nine years was getting a Titan shot because I think he was booked for a title shot before his injury and then he wanted to come back so it kind of came from circle like I said he's coming in here where no one else wanted to just go in there and have fun like I said he's improved every fight and his striking has got a lot better as well every fight I think he's got a really good kick straight up the front to keep people at Bay and then like that he's one twos have seemed to like his striking has seems to got better and better but like Conor McCarthy seems to be the finished guy collect a minute but like you go in there and see see who wants it and that's what it's going to come down to yeah yeah like it's that's that's six hundred points that's back to back it's gonna be just amazing you know and we can imagine nobody find that that main event comes around where we're gonna be fairly uh fairly worn out emotionally because some of those Reuters are unbelievably closely matched so uh yeah big night ahead big night ahead
