Petesy Carroll joins the Energized Show during early COVID-19 lockdown from Blanchardstown, tracing how local newspaper work in 2009–2010 grew into Ireland’s only pre-fight coverage of Conor McGregor’s UFC debut in the Irish Mirror. He recalls the first wave of Irish MMA—Ashling Daly’s international ranking, Paul Redmond as top featherweight, John Kavanagh’s National Basketball Arena and Kings Hall shows, and Shannon Gilbert’s fight with Redmond as proof Ireland could match US talent. Carroll credits Severe MMA’s early coverage, says the scene’s 2010–2015 golden age cannot be replicated after McGregor’s scale, and argues grassroots Irish MMA has declined: fewer weekly shows since Joey Kavanagh’s death brought tighter regulation, with Battle Zone, Cage Contenders, and similar pathways largely gone despite better gyms. On McGregor, he no longer talks to McGregor’s circle, picks Justin Gaethje as the next opponent who could beat him, criticizes the Cerrone comeback buildup and drinking at the press conference, and says McGregor’s ESPN pay-per-view with Cerrone exceeded insider expectations. He discusses ghostwriting McGregor’s unrealized 2014 book, mixed public reaction to McGregor’s COVID messaging and million-euro donation pledge, and cautions against hyping Ian Garry and Paul Hughes as “the next Conor.” Carroll prefers Cage Warriors’ hard matchmaking for Irish prospects over Bellator’s pay, urges Kiefer Crosbie vs Peter Queally, doubts Rhys McKee’s cancelled Belfast UFC path, and debates UFC 249 going ahead versus other sports shutting down—giving Khabib a 70% chance to fight Tony Ferguson.

okay what's going on guys and welcome to a brand new episode of energized today we have a very special guest on the show mr. Peattie Carroll himself PC how you doing I'm good man thanks for having me on and good to be talking in these times of our isolation good to keep me busy I appreciate the invite no problem with all my whereabouts you base right now Blanchard sound and weight we me and my missus at tactfully milk home to save for a deposit now it looks like we could be locked in for the next few once so a and these things happen for ya I'm back and I'm in blanch the moment the beautiful capital of Dublin as I like to call it yeah but like as we said earlier like we have a duty to be like putting their content for people that are sitting home basically looking for stuff to do yeah yeah but you know obviously Ross isn't on the show today years there were commitments that it has to be done because of these times but he told me to keep the show on the road but MPT everyone knows you in the world of him a PT how did you get into this into the MMA scene and my brother was training for a long time and in grappling and stuff like that so he he eventually moved on to do MMA and oh it was working in a local newspaper and because that paper so they cover like all the different cultural areas like they're fed I'm altering their swords malahide and Blanchard Sam Cassell knock Luke and AM don't draw him don't Larry all these different areas on basic OHS mind into ma from what brother being into it and then as the Irish scene began to emerge and say if there was a slow news we can think is that I used to be like oh well I got is going from Luke and call Conor McGregor he was the he's a boy is born an hour with Maurice white next week or whatever we could interview him and that's basically what started like I just I'd find like a little tree hundred-word part in the paper that wasn't full and if they had absolutely no other option they'd have to use the MMA story so that's how yeah initially said I was with 2009-2010 and then am givenchy down when when Connor made his debut and stuff we graduated on to the mirror and stuff like that and I used to convince when the papers to give it a go and they were actually the only newspaper in Orland that covered that and debut pre-fight post for the cars everyone covered it after the 50 G's baby thing and everything put in Romero or the first paper to give us a chance oh is this tree ringing them every weekend for about a year going like ah this points on this weekend what about this one what about this one and then eventually when I got the UFC and I convinced them how big of a deal that was they eventually then become so I'm always very grateful for their yeah that's that's pretty much how I got into it it was very good to be kind of am among those people at the initial kind of aura storage and then you know just right place to really time I guess and and since then it's gone from strength to strength yeah Chris well last class and what what else was sort of going on around that time when and you actually first started riding obviously you said Connor was want to know like there was also you'd like the first wave they had like people like obviously called pan Dre paddy hill and yeah they were all Ashe was probably the most established in terms of and she really was that at the top of the hill and her division already she was flowing flowing away at the time and the problem was that she was fighting flow away and the UFC didn't injured it was the last weight division do see introduced for female so I mean that's why when she went to USC she she was fighting at a lower weight class at strongly and she was just killing herself to make the way you know we never like we did see some glimpses of brilliant brilliant co-wash thing in do super we never saw her at her best I don't think and she was definitely at the top of the heap in terms of she probably had the best international ranking in order you know at that time and and then even it's funny to say and now what Connor was named the best featherweight in Orland then oh no he was so I mean he's the coach narrowly for ruddy ruddy was the main fat away in Ireland and am I always talk about that for you have with Shannon Gilbert E because this was before say Cage Warriors champions just went to the UFC like that's commonplace now we had pandro dude did that Chris fields we got a call-up to the Ultimate Fighter after wearing a belt and I was in Neil Cirie and Conor McGregor all that went true straight to the UFC after when a cage where is 12 before that we were still trying to figure out what what we needed to do to get these photos to the US and one guy who probably wasn't the best business promoter in the world but certainly knew how to generate interest and and make compelling points was John Farex on occasion that there are days these were the best events ever that used to happen in the national basketball arena and Tyler are opened the Kings Hall in Belfast and maybe a few were places for he used to get all this international talent Cauldron foyers that so he had Shannan Gilbert II who was a former USC for to come over to foil on ruddy and anyone if you would ask internationally he would've won laughs we do what I said Shannon Gilbert he bought we all thought if running one if he gets on into the USC he ended up winning it but he didn't get so in the UFC and but it was it's one at I was mountain that's where that was when we realized that we're every bit as good as these guys in the US I am only a couple of short years after that we had Conor making his UFC debut and I'm going to put the world on those that ko my crisper image so it's incredible that just two years before that we didn't know how to get Lance in Orland to the UFC you know there was no path there at all and then two years later just conveyor belt of challenges get started COC it's amazing that fight that you're talking about on Roddy was that wound I was on that documentary with him party girl yeah 10,000 hours from the great severe I'm a that's like that's a big part of MDMA seen here as well and certainly back then the way severe mi was we had we had and back then back then and 20 like by 2011 2012 2020 no I only joined in 2013 but around then he had a great team laganja McGann and going to the local events and grain being the other and the video producer and then oh it was growing up the articles and you know that close repeat we were so dedicated at the time that you know we were getting these lot stories out and we were loving it like we thought it was amazing book I've never seen anything like that and you know years later you do see an L book this little web so yeah very MacDonald in them it's the logger they're like was was one of the biggest websites in Europe you know I don't mean because the traction was happening in Orland them because of all these Irish codes were signed to the UFC and there was so many people scrambling for information on Connor and Patty and all this stuff they just kept ideas of here because we're the only ones that were covering their careers but that that was a big part of it too you know and yeah that would get a go dynamic there's we had some counted events you Royden and then some accord it was the best and I'm Noelle then came in he had a talking bro like that was obviously severe my podcast inside there with with Sean who came in later and bought Sara at the point when we were all going the events and and when there was still a lot of ents happen in Orland it was it was brilliant crack it was the best one we ever had and then even even towards the end berg on an international events and stuff like that and it was just there it was just incredible it was a brilliant experience and both new or fresh yeah we'll just mad me didn't know what we're doing you know they're only agents and I can remember like we've been covering this board a lot longer they am say severe before it's a very common long wait well not a lot longer a couple years maybe and me and Andrew had been but I can remember when Connor made his debut they had already been to a UFC event that I'd never been and I was like I don't even know who to apply for credentials it's one of these events and well I'll probably never be in a situation like that again like we were a completely broken all around the world just praying that things would work out because if they did just hit record and pray like yeah yeah all the time all the time it was insane I'm just terrified as Erlich I never I've never really been anywhere when it would be parents I remember I got the stack over these events like this a couple times boy just be gone point myself to America never been there before I was it was terrifying for their brilliantly sized for him as well it was great times those are it's really like you know look we're in we're all probably in better financial situations that we were back then and like you know we were doing far better for ourselves I'm sharable that though though it was far more romantic back then when you think about it just going after and wanting to get the word out about these four years it was it was completely - Golden Age of it for me and just before Connor got Sonia pretty much on then maybe the first year or two years you know when they had the Mendez 400 and stuff like that in the USA that was absolutely golden from about 2010 to 2015 just unbelievable what times those are great times looking back at them as well like just the trajectory we're still going up like you know yeah yeah absolutely and I think like it like people get annoyed with me because I always say they dem days will never happen again and I guess why if you're a foyer and now you think you take that as an insult port I mean it was just so magical I know this stuff has ever been done before the problem is now that all this shit's been done before we've gotta go use transcended the sport basically and become the most successful and my father of all time probably the wealthiest MMA fighter of all time so when you've had a guy that scales every mountain in the sport if someone else comes along and doesn't know it's just not a special unfortunately like it's just not the same as when this guy did it for the first time and put that Troy collar down on the moon unless unless it surpasses which would be a hard thing to do how do you surpass them you bucks Mayweather and Pacquiao on the same night you see this the problem would always be we don't know we don't realize this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing we're always like when is it gonna what are we gonna happen Talia no idea again it was the perfect cocktail of madness yeah so you're all see an SVG a cool bit when it was like shared almost [ __ ] today was never in the shared and I was in I was in like there was one that I was in before when the long mile road I think Arezzo was just in the la moille and then it moved to to conquer oh yeah no I mean I'd say I've been around forever for SVG James it's just hard to remember which was where and there's been like I think this been for since I've been covering it they can and yeah I mean it used to be always going to far away from I guess so it was never like a fixture in there I'd never be in there too much of the time you know and like I'll probably be I probably go there once before an interview everyone I could and there was no point ever try and schedule an interview with Connor because he just won't be a time show up a day later the thing is they always on the phone if you got him for them a couple of times they available yeah yeah I can remember being in the gyms over the years and obviously like it's it's amazing to see to stay in the air I have actually been in the new one yet well it's amazing to see like I mean even the last more so stay at the Arrington so sleek you just when we were back then we would have never expected you can have a gym like that like that looks like you know that looks like a total fitness like the looks like a West Point or whatever you know one of these sleek concealer gyms it looks it's unbelievable really like I mean even I needed the gyms even tinier Owens gym now compared to what it was back then isn't saying even some of the jujitsu James we have there like East Coast there and valerian micellar Garcia and so Finn am in flashes down here they're just unbelievable facilities it's it's it's come a long way in a short amount of time you know yeah from nothing to like actually one of the biggest hot beds in the world yeah yeah and I don't know if it's one of the biggest heart like it definitely was I don't know if it is anymore we just don't have enough events you know we have Bellator come here a few times like they're huge of answering but we don't have the grassroots same use up and that's what build these guys like the scene that produced Conor McGregor Neil Cirie all of these foreigners doesn't exist anymore that's that's the that's the toughest part of it well boy Disney talk because they did so many more facilities and so many more people have taken a look and I don't I don't think that like I don't think the same like they used to be you events on every weekend the cross or the Ute to grow within the sport like I mean to be Oh an hour and so in the ballot or is pretty mentally that it does happen what I'm I don't think it's giving people that it's not a grassroots and sport you know there's no there's no battle zones anymore there's no cage contenders there's no Akuma well there is a human still is it there's no rumbling roar ocean MMA and you know all of these these events that really really allow these guys to cut their teeth and you know they don't really exist anymore because of the because of the the situation with gel Cavalia when he died and we had to bring in a lot more legislation and safety precautions which was definitely warranted but it did and it did kind of cut the legs off in terms of the grassroots development there is still amateur shows and stuff like that bored and they aren't the same and it doesn't feel the same as it did certainly back when those doors are coming true and every weekend we really cards you know so the yeah there might be more people doing it like going down to the gym and putting on the gear doing burpees or whatever there's not as many people but there's not many people compete you know because there was like a foot guy - every weekend where people were competing like you know that that doesn't happen anymore love you may is not a love that dog was mental it was brilliant and the royval reason created like i mean the atmosphere the community atmosphere that we had a memory back then was far better is now everybody knew each other and you know and everybody saw each other regularly and also um you know we are always talking to each other and we'd always be able to start there any issue or anything like that when we see each other in Paris and I guess it's just there is no am the only kind of coming together of the community we have now was a palette or and stuff like that it's it's obviously a very big event like it's not like you're in it you're in a tent there was the venue you know I mean yeah you probably ought to sit down and relax more but you definitely you won't have the same restriction like there's not like a security wall to get you to talk to these boys afterwards and stuff like that but look and it's great that look better Suarez brought with a whole new level of professionalism with it in the sport and the fact that the four is again paid there were there that was never happened employed a so there is positives and negatives there to all of this you know I mean for them yeah it's just very different it's just a very different landscape but so you know you know yeah yeah it's crazy it's just it's crazy how things have just literally blown up like they don't know obviously like I'm not gonna I'm not gonna stick in Conor but like obviously people want to know what sort of situation like Conor Conor McGregor's face right now because like you seen him go from obviously 102 to now and people are bringing on fights that he might have like some like just engage he they continuously say his name and I've seen Nate Diaz fight that's never gonna go away but like you have your ear to the ground what would you sort of where'd you see this sort of go well I think it's gonna go I don't know anything like I mean I don't know I don't really talk to anyone encounter circle anymore and like I mean yeah like I'd say usually before it a fight gets booked you'd probably find out about it I'm usually you can tell boy like Watts Johnson what's ready saying like cuz because you know well Connors told them what he wants so they're gonna pretty would say why he wants yeah look I think the the the only element did this around me before he was missing for me was an alum at the depth I don't think anyone you know it nobody in the world ha if they if they're good version of Conor McGregor shows will pare that down strong he's gonna beat him and I guess the thing that it did show us that he isn't in the place that he was when he fought Habib cause at two different men yeah he looked look it's two different points as well to be honest and maybe there's a way better way better for it in Cerrone II but two different guys they genuinely believe that he definitely put a banner full forward ahead of the surrounding for you where you know there was the whole thing of like did a lot of people in order to completely turn my back on Conor after their being for it so it something needs to change there and I did and I'm no Beast a Moroni and put the up the only element that they did I just didn't have an element that out there oh yeah getting think he was gonna leave was that for it so II we want to see him fighting someone where I'm like this guy he could be Connor look and there is lots of them people out there at the moment it's not like the Connor who just bad idea Alvarez when you're like he's gonna beat the [ __ ] out of anyone they put in front row right in two different divisions as well I'm sorry I thought yeah we yeah I mean but that was all her in the same time like he was the best for you in the world in when he was doing that stuff as far as I was concerned he use the best for about 18 months and you know and I just feel as though it's gonna be very hard from I mean I just feel like if he wins this next one you probably go back to that kind of place where we can use on tour chable and for Alvarez one the greatest Lloyd wait for his wall to him he beats him on his forest for you oh but Lloyd wait in the USC or was it second X because he Foster he thought Diaz it that's 100 tears 170 dot well there's a second about our second point one seven yeah and he so we I mean that was absolutely unbelievable after snatch now look after all that adversity came through but he just felt won't be able at that time I don't think he feels will be able anymore and but if he came in and he starts gauge he's certainly would like if he beats gauging engage he said himself he's like nobody will argue with him called for her babe or nobody will argue with the fact that he gets to be or Tony depending on who wins that if it happens but nobody would complain if Connor got could be began after he be cagey so I think that's a good for you to make am I look like I think of Connor Connors kind of can be him absolutely you know oh you know there was a time when gage just started for the USC when when people like this guy imagine this fellow for Connor just standing in front of me get killed I know people I don't like this is a good for you so that will show you where Connors gonna dropped a little bit in terms of people's perception that's not to say cages of cages of savage I think he's amazing I love he's one of my favorite words to watch but it is a different situation than it once was you know so that's interesting change in case she's a big enough name to pull against Connor as well cuz like obviously people that are really involved in the may seem more definite okay she is poor like for your sort of average found that just tunes in foreign they probably wouldn't even know I had to pronounce Katie's name yeah that will be funny actually then I would imagine that Artie and sign on the yes yeah like these are things people have to think about you know yeah but like I didn't think like Cerrone like Cerrone isn't like he's a he's pretty iconic they would but he's not like am I look the fact that what's all that last point was Connor coming back hi Todd I didn't think surround me was even a factor in it to be honest like you were in we're in Vegas I was like it's like we were at the press conferences like he's like the 15 we get to like you know it's like we have to talk about Connor talking about his come back and talk about you know like there was someone Stovall all that all those in the media at the time the New York Times article all that stuff and has it has he changed as the check come changed oh and what do you think about going here for you you know like that was it lasting people were like it didn't even matter and of course he doesn't a bigger name but if I anything that showed me that the whole thing can just be about Connor it doesn't need a world oil it can just all be about him and then look it's not the same and then the viewers like there be for God's when the biggest and a knife fight that was ever watched I think was two points so Familia and whatever was for it was big in terms of I can remember when ESPN deal was signed everybody was saying we're never gonna see a pay-per-view like be even Connor again they're never gonna break a median so the reward in the street from insiders was that Nate Diaz and Jorge hospital which was hoped to be the biggest fight they could put on before Connor came back that only did 600,000 boys but Connor believed without able to water when he came back and it over a million they never talked to her gonna do over a million on that with that platform with ESPN because it's it's like behind a paywall so you it's like having a subscription to Netflix I'm Dan paying 70 quid for the Uighurs man you know what I mean like that's that's a situation they have a pay per views there so they never thought they could do that Connor did that when he fought surround he so I think it doesn't matter it doesn't matter who he fights next he just needs to win it matters in terms of he needs to fight someone that will stepping stone towards the toil I need to find someone who people legitimately believe can't beat him and I think kg can beat him for I probably to be honest I'll probably that I get probably before you foster ownio would have went for gauging but now after the surrounding for you I probably have to say I go for Connery no water and like when you're looking at the Connors team right now like it before but it was gone to the group are you saying he was drinking and stuff and everyone was on his watch do you think it seems like a bit of friction in that team as well to be honest and the way it obviously the Augustine like it doesn't seem like they're all getting along together I mean his team I don't think so I think it sorry and like rowdy and John like they all seem to be together and the only going to schisms we saw where we feels and Tom King and party and people like that who are necessary in Connors camp you know like they're all friends with Connor what they earned in that team that gets them ready for fights and stuff like that so and like yeah I feel like I don't think it's in a bad situation I felt it was in an awful situation at that point like I mean like a lot of people in that count point of God I group me and for place slightly saying like he's got the press-conference drinking lots this last point in two weeks that that happened like I mean like I'm an idiot media member if I'm not saying like it's not a good thing for an athlete to be drinking two weeks before the biggest boy was like that was the stupidest [ __ ] I've ever seen him with loosely I mean who's in control there that's when I was like there's something wrong and to come because anyone else's coach would be like oh yeh don't drink you know they go oh yeah that's that's not a good idea go damn that's what I thought things were bad like an undated proved to be like that was you know they can try and rewrite that any way they want but that was that was a one-sided lost Connor so for the greedy buyer really bad and performance for years account see this is what I'm saying this is one of the greatest foreigners of all time in the UFC he's held to a higher standard than anyone else I mean you expect him to be important Habib in some kind of trouble and he didn't at all and then he keeps on calling by like his defense of a takedown which Habib eventually actually got us look how good I am that's crazy that's not kind of a red color years ago he walks in he hits you once and it's over but that's that's the guy that we remember so I think it's a bit disingenuous to say you know look at me stopping that takedown for twenty seconds until I could see it that was deadly I don't think that's the same standard that we expect from him you know because when you see him what he's doing well it's just it's to see so he's so captivating and he has this his power is his ability to make people believe in him you know and I guess he still has that to some extent when he says things like oh look at the way I nearly defended that takedown Oh ple opt look at the way near you defends that takedown like yeah he still has that power to make people believe for I I don't feel it's the same as it was at the height of his power and of course it couldn't be he was like a magician then you know it was like it was unbelievable but nothing we've ever seen before he still is absolutely an anomaly in the for he came it was just not the same as it was back then and it probably couldn't be when you've earned over a hundred million dollars and you know you're basically the best thing since Jesus for you know five years your life yeah but it is great it's like what he gave us was amazing and then while he's actually giving him a community now obviously Bellator and all coming over to talk over the rounds it's a he's given the old people a world platform really mmm yeah and yeah I don't think any of it can happen without Connor but you know as much as he healthy the obviously did you know stifled the growth of mm a little bit as well with the with his behavior as well you know that it can't be said like I mean look we won't be even at this parity if it wasn't for Connor but sometimes I felt like we're at the party and someone took the box of air away yeah yeah but like I mean geez oh I've lost lots of contracts due to how he's behaved you know I've lost contracts and oral and stuff like that and it happens like I mean I don't care you know I'm in a good situation now but I want to be whatever my voice forever and now I'm here and it's great but you know to just say it's all been like sunshine and roses and isn't isn't being accurate you know I don't think yeah that's one thing I would like I want to get into about you get into MMA fight obviously loads people these days more and more people are like want to get into the MMA media scene how did that come about well over master's in journalism I you know worked out papers since I was 19 and and I just had an interest in MMA so I did this for free basically for seven years probably seven eight years or maybe I got a you know a few like maybe forty quid an article off off the mirror I'd say one for you beat you there in a few quid and then from there and severe of a so we were we working for severe obviously like we weren't getting a lot of money in at the time and so I remember voice sports reached out to where I was working for like the mirror severe and one of the other papers the examiner maybe at the time and you know they're making you know the errand if you earned a hundred quid a week then it would have been like wow you know this is incredible so Dan am so foil and voice reached out to severe ma or like oh who is your owner even want to write something for and this you see Dublin guard in 2014 so I was like yeah that's great I'll do that so then that became a paid gig they'd like me to kept me on and Jesus I'm trying to remember where I went and from there I can go start working with news talk that was specifically about origin of May I went the Daily Mail there with the share dog or even adding for MMA junkie I think the moonslayer was something from my voice so it's just you know it's just it's absolutely you know a passion thing like I mean it would have never happened unless it was genuinely into it and I look like I mean it's some big breakthrough moments as well and you know it was the first Paris in the feature I'm very regularly in a in a national paper and in Orland the force with a regional call them and the in the sport and then I'm there force full-time worker heard one of these major publications on it it's brilliant boy I mean it's not nothing's guaranteed this you know this could all go away tomorrow it in this current climate in the crowd over here a situation like I mean that's more prevalent than ever really feel and you see people get laid off while climbing like it's it's a huge risk there's absolutely no security and like over times we're not what am i avoiding before I was there before I had a contract like where everyone just says ah no we don't want that anymore like in the same week we lost and voice coil on Newstalk and something else I can't remember but that was a bill that was probably worth about 1,500 quid a month to me and so it's gone so your howell incomes gone so it's really a noisy thing to get involved in I had a job for a long time the base is supported at all and then in 20 the Christmas of 2014 and McGregor rang me and asked me to read his book and so to be like the ghost story is book so we tried to make that happen but it never happened in the end like that again trying to do it I went and I stayed with him for two weeks and bags and stuff like that we lived live together and stuff it just it just never came to be and that's unfortunate boy I think it's probably for the best name on it so you know why would you say that and I think with that book when he would have signed up book in 2014 think about how much his errand and potential went from from 2014-2016 generated I think about like it or you felt from the get-go when he is selling that book dealer was too Ariens great you know because we hadn't even been written yet yeah and then like it's that happens and then like he probably saw him like I get on imaginative now I'm not privy tiny to details wait a Majan like you know he's signed in whatever March 2014 he's like this is Louis morning and probably boy and probably boy September 2014 he's like what renegotiating I think it became a board you know I was in like Jesus this really that were that much and it's it's so time-consuming it never happened the end and I don't really know we love it all to be honest I'm pretty happy after it knows he could do it once you retire yeah yeah I don't know if Connor is like the type of guy that can even sit down for things like that he's a he's a lawyer he's always on the go yeah listen it must be mad for him walk like just people constantly mash them just constantly Otto although he's doing great things right now putting out the videos better coronavirus telling people like a bit talking about shutting down the country in store yeah I think it's been a fairly mixed reaction that I would use I know although I just I didn't really read into it I just watched about took my own opinion on it oh yeah yeah I think it's it's great cuz I mean when you're going around the the areas and stuff you're seeing a lot of their young fool is still hanging around I don't know where are you where you live I'm living you know right I don't know if you I would put this loaded gangs he also is hanging around here and he's the toy be going to wait like if he's saying it that will have a like a big impact on them you know I just think a lot of people hi there you know they're like he was this guy telling me how to live my life considering the way he's been over the last year they had a lot of that I'm calling his nation and stuff like that it Sam it's my because look at one stage he was to going to be raised up as the origin see this is what we all wanted to be able because of things that have happened after that it's no longer like that like I mean where we'd be lying if we said it was the same way as it was 2015 when those world toilets and when he that the public perception sentiment was going ie and working this kind of stuff is is am is helping him get get back on good terms with always people I think he's aware not to know and I don't think he's done aware of that definitely working know like yeah it is like I look it's like he's doing good things so that shouldn't be criticized at all like I mean when you become a brand like McGregor I mean every single thing you do is is measured and considered I'm sure by a whole team of people and in public relations and but yeah I thought it was still a mixed reaction boy I feel like when he's saying things like he's gonna donate a million euro and I think he can't criticize that that's great I wasn't that was more point what I was leaning on oh the donation yeah so flavor yeah yeah like just what he's doing like giving a man in Europe yeah that's burning cause I hope he doesn't leak I mean you see I got home on this situation before we're kind of where I was on radio Todd no great it was that he donated all this houses that are homeless and then two weeks tired to bring me back on because it was a scorebuddy entry million from selling those nails are so yeah it's brilliant it because it's brilliant absolutely so I just I don't want to get myself to enjoy it again yeah but that's obviously what we wanted you on the show because you you know more than us yeah I mean it's brilliant I mean I think I think once like anyone donating that amount of money is absolutely fantastic I think I do agree which is that this is helping them get back on on good Terence George people and I do feel like he needs to do that like I mean he criticized me for I went around the street and I just asked 10 people ahead of his last for you what they thought of Conor McGregor and I know Conor a long time and he was very upset about it and he did an interview with Sean she innovated saying hey you know that wasn't accurate that people everyone in Ireland love them well as he actually got closer to four he did acknowledge it he acknowledged the fact that you know that the urge people are holding him accountable and they still have and I think you did a great job again a lot of people back on sorry but the Cerrone win but there's still work to be doing on this could be the thing that really helps them all we've noticed even people reaching out to me that you know we're sick of going even even after this raw meeting there don't look like look this is brilliant so hopefully it continues and hopefully he can get back to a good phone with the people because doctors have it have an impact on MMA as well and how its seen in Orland you know he is the guy that everyone immediately thinks of what they think about right yeah no they don't they don't think of anyone else like it if you're in the sport of course you so many different points of reference but he is the guy for the normal Joe Joe soap on the street when they think about Conor when they think about him lady thing about Conor McGregor and then forcing that goes back to what is he doing lately and this is a great thing that he's doing ladies hopefully that will help well well the rising tide will lift all ships as they say yeah and hopefully stays in this part is just it benefits everyone yeah absolutely look I mean that that's the one thing that I don't think people understand we want him to do well we've we were the people going this guy is the great you know like this girl is unbelievable so we're the ones that have blew open our faces when everything stops we do want it to be right but having been the go is gone now he's a great guy he's a great guy and having a blown up in our face before we just have to be a bit cautious he can't just go like this is amazing every time he does anything you know it's just cuz believe me the sheriff are still in my face my friends yeah and then even on the other hand you're Katie Taylor who's just almost the opposite yeah it's just you seen her documentary what do i yeah on believe believe believe believe I couldn't believe it was actually yeah I got like I just never never thought you would be able to show that side of herself I never tell you be able to learn that much from her and even stuff I'm not religious or anything like that but that scene where she's praying before she goes over I think I'm worried about our first professional fight or maybe a world title fight and in professional boxing this was really radiates like I mean it was it was grip you know it was like holy [ __ ] like I can't even breathe watching this and yeah absolutely unbelievable documentary I am yeah I think I think the best sign of a documentary is how much can you learn from someone like you learn about someone from her I knew nothing about Katie Taylor Bracy going in that she was religious I don't know love no no you know it's a it's it was absolutely brilliant eve of the way how we dealt with the stuff that i dad now they tell us I didn't even expect it to do that to be honest achoo I didn t know PT I was blown away about it like I was actually amazed I was actually amazed well they go obviously well obviously what we're talking we're talking with Carnegie he's met he's made it to the top yeah who wants to in the origin a scene should people be looking out for and Paul he wasn't ain't Garriott of two names and jumped to Moines straight away and always I've been here in this situation way too many times where I'm like this guy is the next guy and it puts it absolutely insane amount of the pressure on the Florida first of all it was only making her four steps in the in the game yeah and and people tend to get carried away with it there was already happen about those boys they have willingly throw themselves into the into the fray they want to be considered the next guy for as much as I'd say these are two of the best with I've ever seen as any pros I whatever to do two of the best I've ever seen already pros that's goes right back to McGregor everyone and I have to see it all wrong I've seen it all go wrong before look I mean I don't want to name names or whatever board seeing go is that I thought were perfect and I just can't go wrong he he's gonna be amazing he's gone right to the UFC and it if there's a lot that can go wrong there's they it's come it's actually ever before this hands as well he'll go wrong it can go wrong in terms of who's Perot and your waffle a pony and are you thinking about who you are for it boy do you want to avoid that person and and this no way means gone for it cons at all it means gain something from every fight you get and just because you be a couple of guys to are useless that doesn't mean that you're gonna be able to go in and kill someone off off is the champion at the moment like that's a completely different set of set of skills that you need and it completely different levels of experience so or you can remember when Gary and I was watching his amateur videos for a long time and very excited obviously and then I sent the video to some other media members I say keep this on the down-low but this guy he's gonna be insane and a week later was like blah blah blah over twitter it's always like over there that goes so I think he's absolutely capable him Apollo absolutely capable of doing anything they want the sport foot it's a long way to go and it's a it's a lot of [ __ ] that you need to negotiate to get from where they are now to total conversations in the USC and a lot of lookers involved as well are they came well absolutely I love it and I love the fact that we have these guys and to be honest like the thing with Bellator is right they're so into Bellator and that's that like you don't know any word in you're just you're so into Bellator and it's very hard for me to understand how you go from say how do you go from we're key for Crosby is to where Peter quit is how do you knew that because much mean without well keepers an undefeated go well he has not won last we all okay how does he go from point these guys I've never heard of the fine people here I know it's the scale of its a scale of that's the problem with me for a lot of the ballot are voids or you don't know what winning means if he wins that for you where's he going is he going for you never going I've never heard of all right that's not excite oh no oh no that's like if you look at Kate warriors like grain boy and it seems to be looking after the two lads they're like brilliantly unlike in his that makes it exciting at some point in the next year those two lads are gonna be [ __ ] into the wolves are they're gonna yeah we're gonna see them point Li they we are not we are not going to see these lads eased into anything but yeah they'll give them favorable matchups when they're at this stage in their career which Indian absolutely should the best matchmaker in the world is president sir he's prime95 fighters for the UFC like I mean that's that's a go you knows what he's doing so but only no I mean Gary knows I'm Paul use those and some stage they're gonna get a name and they're gonna be like [ __ ] that I don't know like I don't know when that happens with some of the guys and on unbelt or like when does it go from the prospects status to championship contender status I think they need to make something there that bridges that gap a bit like they don't like the idea of european oils or you personally do because it just feels like a mismatch of fights happening in europe it was our last time at the last parrot or table it just sort of seems like where they go like like aussie Kieffer's like fighting in their keeper cosby division almost cuz he's fine and i'm allowed the tongue for that was 165 like no one else is really got their preferential treatment done yeah well the community you know like I think he's down to 155 and to be fair to key for like for those times that he's called it would savage boyars like he's called a you know I can recall though freakshow once and you know that was when he was like foreign our keepers we're going Colin Fletcher's pedigree go he's fought in the Ultimate Fighting Championship got his you know made the fine like hopefully that's a real test and last time after his last when he called him star him back always like that is looking like that's the top European lightweight like kefir he said he only feed prospect against like one of the best European lloyd wright's that's [ __ ] that's an unbelievable for you but will Bellator listen to like that's that's the thing that always me like it's like he's made a great void daily what's the point important is going through the media and him calling our name I think you guys doing nothing but because that seems to be what they do every time that's not even that's not even keepers folks that's Bellator assault but not just said yeah yeah yes that's what I mean yeah like I agree with you yeah yeah it's like Bellator yeah I think they need to listen to him and get it done because that's the type of stuff that will make it extremely oh he's even saying to them like key for V Moyles price they keep Moyles boys didn't wanted because they were like well he's a step down from query I look in terms of what they've done the craze yeah is a step down from queenie for keepers probably a bigger name Macready gentleman keepers like well-known and so you for you him in orleans and then you become the guy who's been query and kefir like that's huge from oils yeah it's also used for Kieffer's ago i went and beat the go you BP or clearly yeah Raza asked to keep across be there on this when he was on the show Wacom and he's hit like you just said who I mean so yeah yeah yeah yeah he's or not to a circle personas as well but it's the most interesting for you can be put in he needs to recognize that but look Kiefer like could be saying who so they made appointment that's stirring over and it controversy between the two like it's just a belt or could get their finger and do it that's all we need this happen are you sure are you surprised don't right now everyone used to just aim for DLC and then like so many people saw in the Bellator and then do do you think like Paul or in will be better off just going on the belt or your are you or do you think the right to just continue to go for you see oh absolutely not yeah I think they're ready to go for the USC 100% look I mean what why why are they here for like out of here for money like go to Bellator 100% and I look both ways are great like look at the key nobody James galleries making for chrissake no that's the thing so they get to its are hard which way did you go you know well it's I don't know like I don't know because it's if you if you go to Bellator you're ruining yourself with you see that's the thing so what happens in Bellator like what does everyone think Bellator European series gonna stay around forever if nothing else does like so what why would this stay around forever you're getting that money the money that go is that again in in in situation upon situation before now is that the triandos elicit this world like they're getting way mom way than they would on cage where is right but you're getting way more than you would anywhere else it's not like caterers are paying really badly a Bellator I just paying you what you should be into it those are paying way more than everyone else get paid so Belt are paying way more than everyone and they suddenly go and say forty fighters are less whatever promotion like will they still want the fight for a quarter of the money I think that could be if that goes away it's gonna be one of the most detrimental things that ever happens to the European scene to the UK and Ireland that's what it's like I was reluctant to be like this is amazing and they're like why aren't they journalist saying this is amazing because you've signed up all of the talent and if you go you've basically decimated the scene yeah you see Dublin's come back and there's facing known could be able to gonna be hurt like I mean yeah he do you think could actually go on that card Rhys Rhys McKay's office but the problem is now that Belfast event was gone so belfast event that we were expecting he goes in he wins the fight and then he goes the UFC that's gone though so does he get in with a win over how can Faust probably not like you know probably not cuz he's only fought one one for you on this run at welterweight and that was against hack and fossum hack of us is nowhere near and the UFC level for her based on his recent record like it was an interesting fight and but you know it was because Theresa I didn't chop the 1k it's like I don't know that's enough on the strength of 90 you get the USC Reese is gonna be in the USA's rhizomes and he's brilliant he's top of the list and Overland as far as I'm concerned and I just don't know if that's a guarantee anymore I talked with a winner Belfast was guarantee and boy I think Ian Paul reefs are guaranteed for us he fighters and that's what we're missin that's that's like that's the excitement like that's the like like we don't have orders for is New York see anymore when the orange for is our do see it is absolutely fantastic it is brilliant fun it's just it's it's like nothing else Cobra game is great as well ah Coria is great when they're on the car it's like but we've belt or Disney detail many co sign right like in nearly linked in any cheapens it you know I don't know what link and it does like how many how many of the how many orange for is assigned to to Bellator and what percentage of our SPG like it's it's it's you know data would expert 90% I'd say more it didn't tell you what SPG fighters and and that kind of makes it feel like if you're just in SPG you'll get to Bellator so we don't know I don't know if people see it as maybe the thing it was when James are in from you know it means like he was one of not so many and now it's like he's one of 50 or something well it's still a very different circumstance a he's in than guys who I just saw him James is something different there is something but I'll see yous he is come back to Tillman and like they're the headline card is Darren Taylor against Robert Whittaker first of all what a [ __ ] headliner map is it book jet it's like a very visit it is oh is it Oh dueling breo I thought it was just in the works I didn't know they officially announced it boy they're yeah it's unbelievable and bought in this situation I'm a bit am I'm a bit weird about it you know I just don't know if it's gonna actually um happen yeah did you see yeah the video of their until cent design you're saying I'm queen you go nuts yeah I mean we get down on the show couple of more couple weeks back I don't know if it's I don't know if he's if then do our Maximus you know I really don't am I don't have a breeze if I think they get on really well to be honest but away your your show where normal girls up see print as well a little team dans la da da full he still isn't a visual Jenna what's not know so your parents put that out they put it out that it was being it's in the works that doesn't mean it's actually happening well you you have your three grams and you know only percent I thought that was great oh I don't think it is man so yeah now it's not well no look I mean I think like if ESPN are born that they are they are in the works for that means it's happening it's also a tactic they used to put pressure on people and if you've listened to a tyrant he'll talk and they're he's always talking suggesting that he wants more money so I won't be surprised this was something that negotiation tactic for if that for you happens it's over they it just makes me a bit weird a bit Whitaker there because Whitaker is suffered a lot of injuries after yeah he's pulled out a few points and it's like oh man can we actually like imagine having that 40-fold I need elastic and we like do free emporia over again oh don't even say that I know way to some very quotable putty of the moment so I mean we got some good in the end and before we wrap things over because I'm taking a lot your Saturday morning off it you see 249 could be versus Tony Ferguson Dana's saying is still going on what are your thoughts not who you who do you think will win oh you pick a babe every time and boy oh you don't know I don't know what the what Dana's is doing to be honest it just it looks bad he it's he's acting like a babe and Tony is the cure for corona worse like I mean it's he talking about Ron warriors like it's a terrorist like this isn't gonna stop though this isn't gonna change the way I live in hostel II it's lit the nature of this virus is that a hostage change how you live I am look I think it's it's worse than its conc because it's like they're the ones that everyone just basis for dog free when you're thinking about when you think about my UFC most people in America actually don't even know MMA is a sport they just think UFC is sport oh so when you have every other sport pulling all their events as I and this isn't safe for our athletes but Dana we don't know I leads for public let them see what happens I don't think it looks good and it's also like I don't know they completely disagree though as well I feel like a hypocrite on a talk about this because MMA has never been a mainstream sport it's got very close to being a mainstream sport and I think MMA needs to exist in the gray area between mainstream and not so mainstream and if this work hasn't given them the period of a perfect opportunity time like basically come on the attention of everyone because all these other sports are called off if they can somehow deal will be even Tony in some weird like in the middle of the ocean or whatever they're talking about you do that it can probably will be viewed by an insane amount of people right like I mean that that's like like from a promoters point of view you're not meant to be really responsible you're known as the choice T person for the most part you know most people expect you to do the dirtiest [ __ ] you can to make money so why what me do it I guess so but look at look at WrestleMania WrestleMania still men to be going on behind closed doors yeah yeah I don't know any Verizon boy yeah boy I just know what's coming on yeah I mean it's interesting like probably watch nothing you know I don't even watch progress but probably if that's that's like on nothing else is on I probably watch it like just a cultural and standing point on these things you don't know me like I mean it's just like you're so starved of everything like I probably like I'd watch League of our elbows on there oh I never watched league of Orleans you know I do awful things for a bit of sports mom Jones watch I saw ESPN posted axe-throwing and I was watching the video actually another class on this I mean this thing is just there's not looks bar it's it's very hard to a great time pastor huh yeah we just have nothing to really okay sorry like that's the one thing I find it's tool for the moment like it's just come on shoot emotions radiation do you think that like D do you think that happens I think like I think Dan is gonna make em even Tony up even like because it's an ego thing gram now it's not about who's safe and I know he doesn't wanna break his word does he want people saying his lawyers look selfishly I would love this here well like like which sounds weird for the sake of humanity I don't think like I think they can pull it off make sure they have a better training camp and then everyone will have something really to look forward to but I mean if you either way all uncle it's you know I'm surely like a lot of people yeah look I mean it feels like even even with caged worries that went ahead last weekend the last second they had to move from London to Manchester yeah you know everything was did you brought the way it out of that not happen and it still happened and people are open arms until it happened and then after to really God remember the points they were great like they don't it's like it's okay store manatee open tiller Hopkins and then it's like oh well let's talk about the points showing it's like it just it just happened let's get on with it then that's what I think age worries anyway you know that was good that was good event yeah I mean you forgot that this was going on for the hours it was on like anyway you know well that's why it's kind of like finished and I was like ah [ __ ] we're back to this again look what percent do you think that's good do you see two pretty more is gonna go down I'm where'd you think it's gonna be on some Indian Reservation and let's say I'll give it a 70% chance to go ahead but the problem is I think this is gonna get so much worse yeah thank you that's that's the thing and yeah yeah it is and that's what I think it's gonna be horrific you know like this this is gonna be mental this is not like nothing I've ever seen before so I don't know if they can they would be able to press on with a delay of the tragedies that are gonna be going on around the world of that point and also America like it's only like America's the epicenter there was also a story Cory like you're opposed or epicenter and now it's now it's like the u.s. that's probably gonna come back around again it's just that's the thing like I mean everybody's like will it go ahead will it go ahead like everything's changing for even us day to day day today you know like it's it's a completely different situation we're dealing with now so it's like I don't know like that's that's what's gonna call it in the end how helm which is Dana boy will the wrist the lawyers of his employees and athletes to go on the show and that will satisfy his own ego I guess probably a lot for here - oh I just before we wrap it up if it does go down we're gonna have to have you back on opt for people I'm sure everyone knows yeah how could you forget that Facebook for people who don't know yet where can they find you and watch the baby look okay on and you can find me on Twitter a pizza Carol and Instagram I'm not very good on Instagram though it's just pictures of my dogs mostly and they're mm my voice calm where we're trying to do a show every day at the moment and which is great one for all we shot it with an oil on the end and the great Euro Bosch podcast we have no idea how it became such a big hit but we're very happy did and I'm sure soon everyone will realize you're stupid we're and stop listening but for the moment it's going strong it's go crack keep it going keep it grown everyone make sure that the Lloyd subscribe and as always stay energized absolutely thanks so much for having me buzz and all the best or us I hope he's doing well
