[Music] okay so I'm here with Mr match fre who's GNA be fighting this weekend on Kars a massive opportunity we haven't actually spoke since he turned Pro he's uh one of the guys I really like watching I get along with behind the scenes as well thank you so much for your time how are you how are you feeling fight week kage Warriors big week yeah yeah it's a big opportunity for me um I really can't wait um it's kind of daunting like I I was kind of saying that to you earlier like it's a big step up and level and there's a lot of pressure on me but like I'm really excited to to have this opportunity in general because like this is kind of the goal for everyone that's like starts off in MMA it's like cage Warriors is the show to be on if you're in the UK and Ireland like it like it bellor is good but I think like cage Warriors has that better path to like the UFC and if the UFC is your end goal that's where you want to be you know yeah it's like the direct route straight too because like how many people have come to Kos between Patty OT poy I think came through obviously Conor McGregor like there's so many people that have gone to that like I said in the UK and Island it's the only kind of really big kind of promotion of that size Bellator and pfl come in but there obviously American that come in just do a show here and there as where they're consistent with their shows but um like you said when you kind of got the call for something like cage War like how was that because obviously you you've had two fights so far and I think the call came in before your second fight or was it after your second fight uh it was just before the the second fight it was actually fight week off the the second fight so I I had the fight booked in Scotland and I was like trading away or whatever and it was like the last week I was just starting to cut me cut me carbs and and do the water load and all that and here was like oh K was just rying about you and I was like right okay what are they want oh um if a fight in three weeks it's like okay um that's that's about soon uh and then he was like you can't take it though because you're already you're already scheduled for another fight I was like right okay I go do you think they'll take it next week and he goes I'll ask them um so got got the fight finished in Scotland or whatever and rank here and up straight out of the cage was like get on the phone to cage Warriors let let's get in there let's get it done you know and I think I woke up the next morning and kierum was like yeah that that's sort of no that's booked like like like we have it sort of he he wasn't even in uh Scotland with me he was in he was in Vegas at the world he was competing in in Jiu-Jitsu and so like I remember like phoning him so it must have been like 5 in the morning for him something something mad I like I fought at like 12: at night in Scotland I don't know what time it was in Vegas probably probably actually probably like one o' or something in the day or some [ __ ] like that I think it's eight hours or something like that yeah it's something it's a long time like so like it probably was 8 in the morning or something yeah or doll way around I don't know which way it is but you know I mean but he was still awake anyways and or yeah he was awake any I got on him like so um yeah no I got on them and uh says like get that sort of and yeah next day he got the text yeah sweet this is your opponent um it was a guy that I was actually trying to get match with a few months ago on a a more Regional show in England um but like there he was giving me back like the show came to me and we're like oh we're trying to match this guy I was like oh great sweet I'll take that fight I I lock the guy up I was like 100% I'll take that and the show went back to him and go like right okay will you fight this guy and then he goes oh I'm away on holidays or something it's threw me off a bit I was like what do you mean like you you went to the show asking for a fight on these dates or whatever and then you're not there for them dates like it just it threw me off that like it was on what do you call that show um the one blae fought on a few times Jordan fought on it there before he went to cage Warriors as well um I can't remember UK no ukfc no no no it's it's God where's it based is it in Wigan or something no it's not in Wigan I I can't remember where it is I can't honestly can't remember what show it was but like decent enough show um and like even better opportunity know that's on cage Warriors like it's the same fight I think it's like a less it like it's almost the same date as what the original fight was booked for so like actually perfect like it it works out but Almighty is that the show Almighty is the one yeah where I can't even remember where that's based I think it's carentry yeah something like that yeah I know somewhere in England anyway well um there's something I want to ask you obviously when you were you it was fight week when you got to call for cage WIS did that kind of show off your preparations then uh for the fight because obviously it was a week away and a lot of people might have said you know what like I might just scrap this fight and take the K the C once the fair play you for obviously your man you said you were going to fight and you thought but did that play any effect into your preparation your buildup was that on your mind there was people that said like what are you doing you should definitely just pull out of this one it's like no no I'm not that person like I'm not going to do that like it's just not I I would hate for someone to prepare for a fight for so long and then go like oh yeah I I got a better opportunity over here and then the other guys just left like scw so like I didn't want to do that to the guy so I was like right we're definitely fighting but in my head I was like I need to take as little damage as possible so I went into the fight and I was like right my my jiujitsu coach isn't here this guy runs a jiujitsu JY let's not get involved let's not get involved in any of that let's let's just keep it like keep it clean and um so my Muay Thai coach was there mark and he's he is amazingly probably the best striking coach I could ever ask for like the way he translates stuff just works for me um we always had I'll go on about him later actually I'll bring him back up again um but yeah no so the game plan was then just let's snipe him from range and pick him apart and I really chewed up his leg with leg kicks like I I butchered his leg um like um I had don't that many times that he was actually lumping getting out of the cage and I was sweet like I didn't have a mark on me and I actually lost I lost the fight on splot decision um but like I I really feel like I was robbed the two judges that give it to him like neither of them could agree which rounds he won so one of them give him round one one of them give him round two so like I have the videos of round one and two I don't think he won but what can we do you know it's over with now so we move on I survived it it took no damage and what do you call the is it Chris Chris bongard or whatever the the cage Warriors fighter he was like he was the commentator at the show and he was like I thought you won that like so I was like here we go so like there's a high level Pro here going yeah I I think you did enough to win that like so you know but that's the with home shows it's like you really have to go out there and finish the guy put on a dominant performance but like I I was not for taking Russ I just wanted to won the fight um get home safe no injuries yeah because obviously it did obviously affect and how your game plan and how you went in but you talked about the Striking there not that we didn't really see it from you before but your striking seems to have improved a lot and do you think that fight actually helped you with your striking and different things because you were solely kind of just striking and not using your grappling which you are known for oh definitely definitely um like I've been working my striking a lot um but because we like the dynamic our gym we had a lot of people that were coaching and then they were showing this sty of striking and then we had Mark in for a while and then we had another sty of striking back again like it was mainly K1 right but K1 doesn't work for me like that that styl of striking I I find it stupid cuz it's just like I'm going to walk forward you're going to hit me and I'm going to hit you until one of us Falls over it it it's good to watch but it's not it's not fun to fight like it's like let's just take chunks out of each other whereas like Mark comes from like a Muay Tha background and it's it's more of a thinking man's striking martial art like you know it's like hit and don't get hit but also hit your opponent and make him look like he's going to fall on his ass like it's it's great like it's all about off balancing and stuff and like the way he explains stuff he breaks it down and it works so much better for me than than oh here you're just going to throw these punches and then chop a big legay kick in like you wouldn't K1 um like like the Muay Tha just comes to me a lot better um it's been a massive Improvement my game uh ever since I met Mark a few years ago like um and to be honest uh not going to him for a while was the biggest mistake I ever made for a striking to be honest uh let me down a few times but whenever I did have him in my corner like I he just sees things that other people don't see you know it's it's like he's in The Matrix or something like he goes oh they're throwing this punch you throw this elbow or something and you you'll just Land That Elbow like it's it he knows exactly what you need to do he can he can break it down from watching fight footage like that there like he knows exactly this person overreaches this way throw this and and you'll you'll see success he'll do it live in in our sparring rounds he'll go around and go you need to do this because you're getting caught with this and you'll make that a tiny adjustment and it'll change your round completely you know from getting hit to now you're now they frustrated it changed the dynamic and both have to change up your plans and it's it's so much better than what I was doing before like it's so much better yeah I I think sorry go ahead no no go ahead go ah no no I am I'm actually don't say what I was gonna say I say once once you kind of transition to Pro um you had the new rule sets obviously I thought when you on the ground OB the elbows and stuff were going to suit you with the positions you be in how have you found the change the rule sets the longer rounds like how how has it been so far uh well that the first fight didn't really go very long so I didn't really get to feel like the the time extension um but yeah no I quite like the elbows in the first fight like they were they were fun um it's a shot that like you just can't do that damage with the gloves from that range you know you're really need to you need to get your weight behind like a punch but like an elbow you can just like do that and you're cutting the guy open like I I I barely hit the guy in the first fight and he had a massive bruise and the inside of his eye like and I was barely hitting the elbows I I wasn't putting any Force I was just trying to like secure my position and not fall over while I was throwing them so they require no Force at all and then that last fight went the full 15 minutes or whatever the full three rounds and I have never felt fitter in my life like it's just a slower Pace than than amateur amateur like go go go go go whereas Pros like go go go go you know like it's there there's a break in between and that that kind of suits me more um and and definitely like with the longer rounds for grappling and stuff I I get a lot more success with that um like there was times in in my amateur fights where I was like in positions about the finished fight and I couldn't finish it I just didn't have enough time whereas if I had that extra time I would have got finishes like like I come from a Jiu-Jitsu background it the standard time for a Jiu-Jitsu match is five minutes for for a white belt j- Jitsu match or whatever and then you're going down to three minutes so you not have to get the Finish within three minutes opposed to five you know yeah like it's it's it's a big time difference when you think about it yeah it's only 60% of what you usually it so it is it is like a really big Improvement for me to have the full five minutes to work you know and and I don't think I was kind of worried that I like it was like oh this is going to be tough doing five minutes it's so much longer but when you're in there I remember thinking geez this this time still hasn't went off here like I was in the fight I was like hold on a moment something's not right here but like I was like I still feel great though like I wasn't like pushing myself as hard as you would as an amateur like amateur fights you have to win every second of them because they're that short that if you take your foot off the pedal you're going to lose you know whereas Pro you can kind of you can Circle about you can bang bang bang and then take a step off or whatever and and regain yourself and then go back at it again then like 10 seconds later you you have a lot more rest time in Pro but like you don't have that at all as an amateur like yeah like you said someone takes you down has you down for a minute minute and a half or minute one minute 31 seconds okay you you yeah you've more or less lost the fight that the round there like yeah yeah and like if like Solomon Simon Springs to mind he's really good at wrestling and like that he get into positions like yourself and you need that just extra 30 seconds 40 seconds a minute and it's it and then like that if it's standing for a minute and then you have to get them down get the position it's so hard so I felt that's OB the elbows and your style that that's what it would suit like it would suit you there cuz then you control the elbow you can get them they turn their back they'll do whatever and they it open up more opportunities for you yeah and like as I said earlier like to thr the punch to do damage you really have to posture up and and create a lot of space where's the elbow it it's it's that like like that that's the movement there and you can do damage with that and that'll Force the opponent to turn and that'll get you more opening yeah it's a great shot like it it really is like cuz it's bone and Bone and then in am if you po up there's a chance someone's going to wrap your neck up triangle like know yep yep no no like um I [ __ ] I love throwing them to be honest cuz like they're such a great shot like um I feel sorry for the boys in the gym that like have to have to take like the like the we soft ones that I give with like the inside of my arm and stuff but like yeah no they they're a great shot like um scares the [ __ ] out of the guys in the gym it's great you hear you hear no back chat off them after I'd say not not after eating a couple of couple of elbows but like that you've had a good start obviously you won the first one the second one like you said you think could went through and then now cage Warriors it's been quite successful so far um looking how do you feel about it so far and and what's your plans for obviously i' say this might be your last fight of the year or would you be looking to get another one in so that's a good question actually so like I was in my head I was like two pro fights this year would be great because it's only my first year as a pro and then like that K TOS one came up and I was like three would be amazing um I would love four to be honest like I I think uh if I could get another one on cage Warriors after this that would be literally the best thing to start a year like at like as a pro it would be the best start I could possibly get you know like I I want to get as much experience in the Pro rounds as possible as quickly as possible once I have that I can feel confident and comfortable anywhere there's not really anything that will phase me after that you know well once it on I just get used to the time and the elbows and and the new the new attacks with the knees and everything like that I'm going to be sweet like it'll be the same as the amateurs I'll be com comfortable to fight anyone at that stage you know yeah there's not really anything that anyone will do that will phase me too much I I'm able to implement one of my game plans to beat anyone at that stage that that that will be that will be the plan um just getting there you know that sounded like a little gibberish but like in my head that made no it it makes sense and like that lot Fighters will probably feel the same and like it is a good start to get like one and one like I agree if we you can't change that result anyways but cage War then is is fantastic and oh yeah once this fight is over obviously we're hoping you win you're GNA you're convinced you're going to win then hopefully another cage Warriors and then what happens from there happens from there like you know yeah yeah no I I'm hoping to put on an exciting show on kwis and I hope they um I hope we get rebooked then I think there's there's a show November or something in Newcastle I think Jared Harris mentioned it to me um so like if he was to get on that and then I could jump on there somewhere as well that would be perfect like you know like uh we could have a few Irish men on that show for the end of the year I think I think that's the last show cage Wars do I think it's in November I'm not sure if they do a December one but like yeah if we could close out the year with with a few Irish men fighting on cage Warriers together like it'd be great like you know like yeah they've signed quite a few like there quite a few signed signing as well yeah that's the thing like and um like I I've been doing a lot of I've been moving down to those guys to do training um every once in a while which has been great like uh it's great to have Irish supporting Irish like you know in the amateur games it's kind of like everyone's out to get each other and then you go pro Henry said a good thing there last night Henry the F sh yeah he said um like it's like we're we're all to get each other here at amateur but like once you turn pro you're going to be training Partners you know because because there's not that many flyweights on island yeah we we need to support each other to [ __ ] to make it to the Next Level yeah I like what he said and you're saying I think I think you have to fight each other here to like the best flyweights like you fought all the best flyweights and then like that going forward like that's just made you better it's made them better because you want to be the best in the world you don't want to be just the best in Ireland you know that sort of a way yeah yeah yeah no like um that is go it's it's it's the build like you want to build everyone up too like like McGregor's said it was like it's the new wave or whatever of Fighters coming I can't remember it was he said something about the Irish Invasion or something something like that they were all coming then obviously you've got to like yeah we're coming we're not we're not coming to take part we're coming to take over something like that there you know th this is this is the next stage of that like it's it's we need to keep that going um because Irish Fighters all over the world they're doing massive stuff but like we need to do it together you know we like you need to build each other up you don't just get there by yourself you know and there there's plenty of guys that are moving overseas to go do that work and stuff but like you can do that here it is possible and people are showing that that it is possible you know really excited to to have this opportunity in general because like this is kind of the goal for everyone that's like starts off in MMA it's like cage Warriors is the show to be on if you're in the UK and Ireland like it like it bellor good but I think like cage Warriors has that better path to like the UFC and if the UFC is your end goal that's where you want to be you know yeah it's like the direct route the UK iseland it's the only kind of really big kind of promotion of that size Bellator and pfl come in but there obviously American that come in just do a show here and there as where they're consistent with their shows but um like you said when you kind of got the call for something like cage Wares like how was that because obviously you you've had two fights so far and I think the call one minute 31 seconds okay you you yeah you've more or less lost the fight the round there like yeah yeah and like if like Solomon Simon Springs to mind he's really good at wrestling and like that he' get into positions like yourself and you need that just extra 30 seconds 40 seconds a minute and and then like that if it's standing for a minute and then you have to get them down get the position it's so hard so I felt that's OB the elbows and your style that that's what it would suit like it would suit you there because then you control the elbow you can get them they turn their back they'll do whatever and it'll open up opportunities for you yeah and like as I said earlier like to throw the punch to do damage you really have to posture up and and create a lot of space where's the elbow it's it's it's that like like that that's the movement there and you can do damage with that and that'll Force the opponent to turn and that'll get you more openings yeah it's a great shot like it really is like cuz it's bone on bone and then in am if you POS it up there's a chance someone's going to wrap your neck up triangle like know yep yep no no like um I [ __ ] I love throwing them to be honest cuz like they're such a great shot like um I feel sorry for the boys in the gym that like have to have to take like the like the we soft ones that I give with like the inside of my arm and stuff but like yeah no they they were a great shot like um scares the [ __ ] out of the guys in the gym it's great you hear you hear no back shot off them after i' say not not after eating a couple of couple of elbows but like that you've had a good start obviously you won the first one the second one like you said e think could have went through and then now cage Warriors it's been quite successful so far um looking how do you feel about it so far and and what's your plans for obviously I'd say this might be your last fight of the year or would you be looking to get another one in so that's a good question actually so like I was in my head I was like two pro fights this year would be great because it's only my first year as a pro and then like that K TOS one came up and I was like three would be amazing um I would love four to be honest like I I think uh if I could get another one on cage Warriors after this that would be literally the best thing to start a year like at like as a pro it would be the best start I could possibly get you know like I I want to get as much experience in the Pro rounds as possible as quickly as possible once I have that I can feel confident and comfortable anywhere there's not really anything that will phase me after that you know well once once I just get used to the time and the elbows and and the new the new attacks with the knees and everything like that I'm going to be sweet like it'll be the same as the amateurs I'll be com comfortable to fight anyone at that stage you know yeah there's not really anything that anyone will do that will phase me too much I I'm able to implement one of my game plans to beat anyone at that stage that that will be that will be the plan um it's just getting there you know that sounded like a little gibberish but like in my head that made no it makes sense and like that a lot of Fighters will probably feel the same like it is a good start to get like one and one like I agree if we you can't change that result anyways but cage Warriors then is is fantastic and oh yeah once this fight is over obviously we're hoping you win you're going to you're convinced you're going to win then hopefully another cage Warriors and then what happens from there happens from there like you know yeah yeah no I I'm hoping to put on exciting show in cage and I hope they um I hope I can get rebooked then I think there's there's a show in November or something in Newcastle I think Jared Harris mentioned it to me um so like if he was to get on that and then I could jump on there somewhere as well that would be perfect like you know like uh we could have a few Irish men on show for the end of the year I think I think that's the last show cage Wars do I think it's in November I'm not sure if they do a December one think but like yeah if we could close out the year with with a few Irish men fighting on cage Warriers together like it' be great like you know like yeah they've signed quite a few like it's quite a few signs they're signing early as well yeah that's the thing like and um like I I've been doing a lot of I've been moving down to those guys to do training um every once in a while which has been great like uh it's great to have Irish supporting Irish like you know in the amateur games it's kind of like everyone's out to get each other and then you go pro Henry said a good thing there last night Henry the F Chay yeah he said um like it's like we we're all to get each other here at amateur but like once you turn pro you're going to be training Partners you know cuz there's not that many flyweights on the island yeah we we need to support each other to [ __ ] to make it to the next level yeah I like what he said and you're saying I think I think you have to fight each other here two like the best flyweights like you fought all the best flyweights and then like that going forward like that's just made you better it's made them better because you want to be the best in the world you don't want to be just the best in Ireland you know that sort of way yeah yeah yeah no like um that is go it's it's it's the build like you want to build everyone up too like like McGregor said it was like it's the new wave or whatever Fighters coming I can't remember it was he said something about the Irish Invasion or something something like that they were all coming then obviously you've got to like we're coming we're not we're not coming to take part we're coming to take over something like that there you know th this is this is the next stage of that like it's it's we need to keep that going um um because Irish Fighters all over the world they're doing massive stuff but like we need to do it together you know we like you need to build each other up you don't just get there by yourself you know and there there's plenty guys that are moving overseas to go do that work and stuff but like you can do that here it is possible and people are showing that that it is possible you know yeah no 100% yeah second that um I only have the free version this is going to end in a two minutes so the only thing is if we have to start again like we'll have to start again it takes 10 minutes before to start a new meeting though no worries is that okay that's good with me yeah yeah so it be 10 minutes and then it probably won't be much longer or do you want to wrap it up now within the next minute and a half no no no we we'll do another we'll do another bit um I have a we bit more to talk about perfect right so what I do is I'll end this now um and then like said it'll be 10 minutes so I'll just go down and get something quick to eat and I'll text you whenever it's ready I apologize I think we spent tooo much time talking at the start before we start recording all right you should you should have kept recording you should have like because once you told me where we're recording it threw me off a bit oh really so I said just it and then we were sweet when we were just having a conversation yeah yeah I find with a lot of people they their flow isn't as much because that's like that's why I try to do try to make people more comfortable but like sometimes when they know that it's going on it's like [ __ ] right it's go time whereas Jo what next time I'll just leave it recording and say it's not recording and then just [ __ ] don't even don't even tell me like like you're not perfect right so I'm going to shut this off and then I'm going to see if I can start it back earlier but you usually have to do 10 minutes in between each one so sounds good right perfect I'll let you know give me two seconds all right no worries
