Okay, so I'm here with Amy Flynn. She's going to be fighting this weekend uh at Evolution Fight Show. It's going to be on in Arane. She's going to be fighting Jemma Coill. I spoke to her previously, but we're going to talk about this fight. How are you, as Fight Week? Thank you very much for taking the interview, especially so close to the fight. How are you feeling? >> I'm feeling good. I'm really excited. Um this is quite a fast turnaround when it came to fights as well. So, I didn't think I'd be fighting this close to the end of the year, but so this is really I'm just really looking forward to it as well. Um, it's just I I didn't think it would happen. So, now it's like it's happening. I'm really really excited for it to go as well. And thank God it's fight week. I'm just so looking forward to just getting this weight cut over and done with and then just getting into that ring and having a bit of a party with Gemma. >> Yeah, it will be because I I've seen her in K1. I've seen her in MMA obviously. I've seen her in K1. But uh I think it's going to be a fun fight for both of you. I think it's going to be a fun fight for everyone to watch as well. But h you said you weren't expected to fight this close towards the end of year. How did this come about then? How did you end up fighting? >> So um like I've myself and Mark have been in contact with Ronan McCarthy who is running Evolution. We we like you know we all are quite local James as well and I've known Ronan for a while as well. So, I've been asking to get on his a lot of his shows and he's been asking for me to come on to a couple of his shows for a while now as well. So, luckily it managed, it just came about. Um, so I fought on the 9th of November on the Capital One show, Thai fight, and unfortunately I lost. I just didn't do enough, but I was still happy with what I did. Um, but I came out of it no injuries, absolutely buzzing to go again and I just said it to Mark on the way home. That was also in Artane. Actually, Artain are going to be sick of seeing my face. But I saying to Mark on the way home, um, do you know what? I just don't want to have so much of a massive gap between fights anymore. Um, I'd like to kind of keep as active as I possibly can be. Like this year originally, I wanted to be as active as I possibly could have been, but it just it didn't happen. Like, so um, I fought Mel back in March. That was my first fight of 2026. We were supposed to be fighting on the Valkyrie show, which is a tie show that Ne was running. Um and unfortunately that fell through and luckily myself and Mel were able to get on to um the premier fight night which is ran by courage and that's down in cl. So we all had to hight tail it down to tipperary then a couple of weeks later as well and then I just had a bit of downtime and I didn't want to I think I was trying to get on to a couple of shows in August. It just the matches just weren't there. I don't know you know it just just it just didn't happen. And then I got matched for November which is amazing. and got put against a very strong opponent from Galway and we had a battle. It was absolutely amazing. Like I said, then I came out of the ring unharmed, feeling good, feeling ready to go again. So I just said it to Mark, yeah, will you have a chat with Ron and see if he's got anybody for me? And I think within the week I was matched with the big GC. So look, you can't look you can't beat it. Like so like you know, finishing off the year with a bang. like started off with Mel had in it in the middle and now I've got GC to finish off the week the the year. So happy with that. >> Yeah. Know it is like said you want to be more active but it's not a bad year considering um yeah >> and I like I said I know Gemma and I know obviously yourself and I just think it's just I just see this fight being really really like it's actually got me excited. It's going to be a really really fun fight. But you talk about it being fight week and you wake up. What kind of a weight cut do you do? Do you have much of a weight cut? Do you kind of walk around close to your your your fighting weight or how do you do it? >> Well, this year I've been quite good about my weight management. Now, I'm a grubber. I love food. Food is my favorite thing in the entire world. So, it is quite hard for me to stay at fight weight, but I fl like my fight weight would actually have a big range. So, like this is the lowest I'm going to, but like I have fought from 65 all the way up to 7071. So my walkound rate is usually about 7071. But um like that I fought in November at 67 and then I had to come down. Then we're coming down to 64. So usually I do like to give myself a little bit more time to let the weight come down quite naturally because I don't I don't very often do like the weight. I don't do water load and I don't do a lot of the songs. I might have to do it this week. I don't know. But um usually I like trying to give my body a little bit more of a natural weight loss process and stuff like that. So, at the moment, it's it's a calorie deficit and it's just horrible cuz I all the Christmas stuff is about and oh my god, just there's too much there's too many racks of cheese in Tesco and I have to just go in like this and it's it's that that's killing me right now. That's the only thing that's killing me right now. >> I can imagine. I'm going in now. I heard fairy tale in New York for the first time today. So, this is the the beginning of of the real Christmas. So yeah, going in seeing all that stuff and and that's that's a good like that you're able to have a flexible weight fight range as well. Actually, if you wanted to fight a 70, I've got a fight on Louis McGrill show and a K1 I think is in December that they're looking for. So I'll talk about that after this if you're interested. But yeah, it's it's good that you have that range as well because do you find I like say predominantly do MMA and and a lot of the ladies find it hard to get matched. Uh is it would it be the same in in K1 and Tai or is it a little bit more easier to get matched? >> Well, there's a lot more of the ladies around at the moment that are at my weight as well. Like a couple of years back um there would have been a lot of people between 62, 66, 67 like in K1 and thigh and stuff like that as well. But some of them have progressed on to go pro. So they're either doing C or B class or there's I'm in this really weird space at the moment with my experience. So like I'm kind of I'm more experienced than the ones that are coming up and then I'm just bang in a very awkward middle right now. So it's more getting people it's more to make sure that it's a nice fair fight so that the experience levels and the the weight levels also match. So, that's just a little bit that was what we were kind of finding quite hard, but luckily I've got there's a there's some amazing ladies coming up through the ranks right now and it's great to see. So, it look it's it's an exciting time right now to be in this way category. >> Yeah, it's good. I really I really try and help. You've probably seen me pushing like the females in combat sports. I think obviously it it's really really grown and like what Ne has done Mel and yourselves and and stuff like that has really helped it grow and I think when someone comes out of a gym and they kind of break through that's when you see a lot of females kind of going that way you see it now in with with Gemma and Mel a lot of people when they started the female classes they went to them the likes of Iran Darcy has really kind of got people into Sha Ban and I know obviously it's MMA but it's it's getting them into combat sports is the main thing >> uh but Yeah, it's it's really really good to see. Um, and you you find that a lot in MMA as well, that you might have someone that's 61, 62, but everyone else has seven, eight, nine fights. If they have came in a year before, it might have been different. I know now it's like 57 is kind of the weight class in MMA. It's >> it it fluctuates. And I think Amber Lens on this show as well, and I think she's like really really like I want to say 48 or something like that, is she? >> I think so. Yeah. cuz like she like like that like that fight against her and Alice like I am so excited to see because I've known both of them for so long. Like I've known Alice for years because Alice used to come up to do the Unite events with us as well. Amber's come to them as well like and we've got my my teammate Anita is also fighting on that as well and she's been going off to to spar with Amber to kind of get a few rounds in and stuff like that as well. So like that is going to be the most amazing fight. Like when I seen that poster like the scream that I scrumpted was ridiculous. Like like as well like that like the other um Olga and Joanna that's going to be an amazing fight. I'm telling you right now, like these are these are hardy hardy women and it's just like I know the evolution fight card itself is an amazing fight card, but the amount of women on it and the actual caliber of women that are on it and I'm just saying it cuz it's me and the GC, but like the the amount of female fights that are on this and the high quality female fights that are on this, this is amazing. Like so we've got Vicky and H Chloe fighting for an Irish title. like the like it's so great to see that like we've got these title fights and it's not just an all female fight card. It's a it's a mixed bag and we've got some of the female fighters also going in as a title fight. Amazing. >> Is this I see Vicky I've seen Vicki before. I don't know what's after happening to my screen there. You see me still? >> Yeah, I can hear you. >> Can you see me though? I don't know what's after you >> right. I'm after disappearing. Um, so yeah, but I I'll just continue as it is. I see. Can I fix it here? But yeah, no, there's Vicki. I've seen I watched the fight Rachel. It was a really, really good fight. And there is It was Alice and Amber. I seen and I talked to Alice back and forth. Can you hear me? Yeah. >> Yeah, I can hear you. >> Yeah. So, I've talked to Alice and when I saw that, I was like, this actually seems like a really good fight. I asked people around the scene and they said uh they said it was a really, really good fight. So, I actually will be at the show. I was talking to Ronan and he's going to have me up at the show. So I will be there. >> It's like I'm back unfortunately for people. >> You're back >> unfortunately. But yeah, so this obviously this will this will end your year. Um which which Emma she's had 1k1 fight. How would you prepare for someone who who fights MMA predominantly or or do you prepare or do you just go in and do your own thing and have fun? >> Well, it's the exactly what you just said. Go in there and have fun. same like fighting for like I was fighting Mel as well who was um MMA as well so we're all we're all disciples of the standup so that's all that matters like as well so like I just go in with my own confidence in my own ability as well and then like that we just we just see what happens like so but yeah I I've had I've seen what Gemma can do in the cage I've seen what she's done in the ring on Artemis as well and like she's tasty and I'm like really like I'm so excited for this fight like I really am like as well like we we've we've met before as well up at Mel's um ladies day in Stban and she came down to theite event in my in my gym as well. So like we know each other like and it's just great like because we'll go for drink afterwards and you know like it's just amazing like so like really looking forward to it. >> Yeah. No, I I'm really looking forward to the whole show. I like I wouldn't be too up on the the K1 and my tie but I've seen Dean Grahams fighting on it. He's someone that I've heard a lot about. Um, and I'm hoping to go to the show and learn a lot more about a lot of fighters. So, I'm really taking an interest in in K1. Um, it's it's really exciting to watch. That's what that's what I love about it. But, >> you said you wanted to be more active this year than you actually have. What's the plan for next year? >> Just get in and get loads of fights to be honest with you. um like that I you know I have a personal goal to get a belt before I'm 40 of two years to get that done. So obviously in order for me to be my name to be in that room when it comes to who are we going to put up for the belt I need to be out there. I need to be active and I need to show my worth. So I'm very much somebody that wants to show that oh I'm ready. I'm ready as well. So once Christmas is over I'm back in the gym and I'm I'll be hounded marked to get myself matched. simple as or I might start branching out to others like how I representing myself. >> Yeah. No, how many would there be? Like I said, I don't know too much. I know there's the Rumble was recently. You've got Evolution and there's a couple of other tie shows that I know of down in Cork like say to the boys cuz it's it's the brother of one of the MMA fighters I believe me. >> Yeah. Yeah. And there's up north you've got deliverance I believe. But is there more shows than that or is there just kind of those ones? Is there a variety? >> Plenty more shows. >> Yeah. Now, there'll be plenty more shows between Thai and K1. There will be plenty on as well like that. We do have the likes of Deliverance. We've evolution with Ronin. We've got Capital One um with um Siam Warriors down in Cork, but he's doing shows up in Dublin as well. So, they go between Cork and Dublin. We've got the premier fight night with Courage. Um then we'll also have I I don't there wasn't many on of it this year but um Arena Oshin in um compound martial arts he does arena so he'll probably bring that back next year as well. I don't know if Hammerhead are going to be bringing back either Valkyries or um Ragnarok and stuff like that as well. There's always shows on so we like you have those seasons like kind of like an off season and then you have a season of shows. Um, so there should be a few. Also, there's Rumble Fight Camp Championships as well, like that Rachel was fighting on for the belt. Um, so like there's there's a lot more shows coming up as well in in the near as well. And then there's all the other shows like like that. Like there's a few of them on as well. There's another one on the same day as Evolution. I think there's the Battle of the Burr as well. Like there's loads of them. Like there's loads of them going on. You just have to know exactly where to look. But uh yeah, it's just it'll be a good there'll be a good few on now. and I'd like to get myself in as many of them as possible. >> Yeah, it's good that there is that many options. Sometimes I wish they wouldn't put them on the same day or consecutive weekends cuz in March I was looking six weekends in a row from March 1st to April 4th. There's a show every weekend in MMA. I didn't want to see my family anyways, but look, >> it's it's going to be it's going to be a tough month to travel, but it's it's all worth it. I'm gonna let you go. I want to uh wish you best luck going into this weekend. I'm really excited for this fight. I've also I've already had Gemma on yesterday. I think I released that today. This will probably come out either today or tomorrow. But is there anything you want to say before you go and thank you so much for your time? >> Uh no, just well, thank you to everybody that has um been a major support for the last couple of weeks and so sorry that I've been so mooney. Um please come and support if you can. There are tickets at the door. There's tickets from the gym. There's also will be a link and yeah, talk to you soon. Perfect. Thank you very much and enjoy the rest of your day. >> You too. Talk to you soon.
