As part of our Road to Georgia campaign, we're catching up with former Team Ireland athletes to hear what representing Ireland on the IMMAF stage meant to them.

This week we feature Alexander O'Sullivan of CMAC MMA

✅️ IMMAF European Championships Bronze Medalist (Prague 2016)
✅️ IMMAF World Championships Bronze Medalist (Bahrain 2018)
✅️ IMMAF European Championships Silver Medalist (Rome 2019)
✅️ IMMAF World Championships Bronze Medalist (Bahrain 2019)

Alexander represented Ireland across Europe and the Middle East, competing against some of the best amateur MMA athletes in the world before progressing into the professional ranks.

When asked about his favourite IMMAF memory, Alexander recalled his quarter-final victory over Alexander Loof by armbar, securing another podium finish for Team Ireland.

Reflecting on his Team Ireland journey, Alexander said:
"Absolutely, I’m 5-0 as a professional now and had 13 bouts in the IMMAF circuit against top-tier international opposition. It prepared me for my professional career."

From Prague to Rome to Bahrain, the IMMAF pathway helped provide invaluable international experience, development and opportunities that continue to benefit athletes long after their amateur careers.
