[Music] [Applause] [Music] all right hey everyone uh welcome back I'm here with Dey melen of the I all right now this this is an ongoing debate I have with people is is it I are your it's NRI and arish so in the arish language is your oh okay Fighting Championship because that's that's where it is excellent um that answers the next question what does that mean um no that's cool and then um just everyone I talk to it's you know no one knows how to pronounce it properly so thanks for clearing that up um first of all fantastic show thank you um it's my first time being up here um the mechanics of it the logistics of it everything ran so smoothly uh it was great uh so whatever you're doing behind the scenes keep it up you're doing a great job um it was very enjoyable to work behind the scenes with you um you know not really being a part of anything but it was it was pleasant um you know so one thank you for having me and then two thanks for for that because it was very no one said a bad word about it everyone huge um lot of positivity in that regard so that's what I try to do when run the show I don't want to have a good group of people around me that help it's the same group of people that whatever's happening in my life they're they're always the ones that are with me so Jo like whenever this started have a good cor group of people around me that uh that have have helped run it so it's h i get the whole thing set up and started but then whenever it gets going most of the time today I spent out the back getting the boys warmed up wrapping hands and cornering so uh without them it wouldn't wouldn't be what it is either another compliment that I keep hearing about these shows is uh the cards are set up uh the matches your matchmaking is really good and just from what I saw tonight absolutely that's right on the money um what what is it it take to you know make these matches happen because you actually had a few more than two or three that were kind of last minute yeah well there was six pullouts from last Thursday I think they started last Wednesday or Thursday they started and uh from that it's it seems to be a fighter show like if if you want to Podge your record and you want to pick easy fights and you sell tickets to get belts this isn't the show for you if like what you see with with most of the matchups from from the bottom to the top they're all 50/50 fights you don't know who's going to win some of the some of the fights like the main event h on paper the records didn't add up to why you would make that fight but the two boys I've been about the scene a long time uh and I remember the last time I think it was Dylan's last amateur fight was against D and it was a draw so there's more to it than actually just looking at a record and seeing like right well he's two and0 and this play jum two and one will make this happen it's more just a you don't know know what way the C is going to go and I think we went 50/50 tonight like I think we were split on wins and losses and that's the way it should be because it's only going to battle the bikes going forward then for the bigger stage absolutely yeah um I I I think that uh even at the amateur level these days you know some of the fighters kind of forget that you know especially as an amateur you should just really kind of take what's given to you and then just you know take it learn from it and move on that's it like and like to D roads he had the drop of a hard change from like Jamie who was I think he was maybe five and one at the stage to taking on a European Champion with a lot more fights and a lot more experience and and just it was a matter of what about this and he said yes straight away so that's that's the kind of Champions you want on your show Absolutely far enough it didn't work out for him tonight he's going to learn from that and come back Jo like uh I think with the way the coach set up from bottom to top you're you're going to you're going to learn your after my show I think that's I think that's the easiest way of saying it you're going to like some nights you might be the hammer some nights you might be the KN like and that's that's what it is at amateur whenever whenever I used to fight amateur that's what it used to be you didn't I remember my first fight the poster was released the day before weighin and I was trying to figure out off the poster Which F looked similar size to me to see who it was was fighting it was only then whenever I got to The Venue that I was think I've nared down to two people here of which one it's going to be and the way I look at my fight careers i' say I'm Free a date to fight and on that date I'll fight anyone and that's what where this show is and a lot of the fighters and a lot of the clubs that I'm dealing with that's that seems to be their mentality as well so that's a good mentality to have and it's a good mentality for a club to kind of push on you know their members to do that I remember my first fight um an amateur amateur Ultra amateur fight so uh I always have to I always feel like I have to preface that um but uh you know I didn't know who I was fighting until literally um we were back getting ready to walk in the cage and it was you know same thing you said I was looking you know people similar weights to me like just trying to size everyone up like is it you is it you um thankfully um I'm pretty big or I'm pretty heavy dense so like there's only a couple I had to pick from but uh what about putting on these shows is like kind of the most difficult thing uh yes the hard part is like coming from such a small team don't like and but other than that like it is hard don't get me wrong there's a lot of organizing within it and I as I said I've done do all this myself from making posters set up the pay-per-view to matching the fights to everything you see until we get to the day that's where the the rest of everyone ad comes in around me in hubs so it it's a lot of stress to put on top of someone like with a young family of a four-year-old and then the way On's four months old oh wow and my own fight career on top of that it's uh it's not easy but listen I I enjoy it I set out whenever I stopped fighting in the time whenever I moved on the the bigger show uh I decided that there was something I wanted to do was to bring him back to Yuri this is this is my my town this is where I'm from this is J like to bring stuff here there's nothing on on Sunday the crowd that be around the town like the we coffee shops are doing well the hotel does a lot better on Sunday so like having having a smaller business is doing well is great putting something on like this in in the town is great and I'm sort of getting people wanting to come up here to fight is is it's it's what it's all about for me it's great um so the flip side of that what's kind of the most enjoyable part of all this like watching the fights getting to see my teammates do well H getting to get my teammates on the card you know like H you even like from put I'm not one of these ones to be standing I'm standing doing an interview about be in front of the camera Jo like all suited up and putting belts on people and whatever else I try pass that off to one of the way to do that or whoever standing closest don't like to get the bels on but getting actually see Fighters develop and as I said get to see my own team doing well Jo and fighting in front of their the hometown and maybe like you might come to watch one fight fighter tonight but then you might see one of the other boys on the on the card then the next thing he's fighting in Bast or Dublin and you want to go to watch him J and sort of transfer and that support all around the team then so that whenever whenever one of us fight we've got a a bit of a follow and then from the other ones you know it's it all sort of links up that way like so just seeing seeing cge like that where there was 32 Fighters showed up tonight and put on a hell of a show like that's got nothing got to do with me that's that's all just on the fighters tonight like you know so far far to them awesome uh uh where do you see kind of the future of your Fighting Championship what what would you know 5 years from now what would you like to to see it's just to be like a like a platform in in Ireland for the for the younger Generations coming up for the Grassroots MMA for the amateurs MMA and then the already level Pros somewhere for them to learn their craft develop their skill set to move on to the bigger stages like Kieran for talk sake the come an event tonight he uh spent most of his amateur career here he did fight elsewhere as well but he was one of our Champions our Bantam champion and then he moved to cage Warriors for his Pro debut I think he got a second round submission and then he's back tonight just because it um it just worked better for him to fight here than it did in cage Warriors and then we'll be back to Dublin next year with him for cage Warriors again so uh Ken's one of my teammates as well so obviously that that's how I know the sort of the game plan there but J like that that's what it that's what it's all about it's like having something that if you want to come out with the boys and have a drink or you want to take your family to an MMA so it's one of the only ones in the country that sort of fits all the builds J like it's not a it's not a overly rowdy crowd but it's also not J like like they enjoy their fights so you've got more fight fans than just going to see your your m fight John so that's what I like about it yeah the the crowd here was definitely you know a crowd of all ages and that that's cool to see you know kids experiencing you know fighting uh and that sounds weird you know kids experiencing Combat Sports that's it and learning that uh you know it is a more or less safe sport that you know you can participate in and then potentially you know have a career in as well that's it like both Dora and Karen had the families with them had their young kids there unfortunately Doris didn't go his way but it's like seeing D with with his way man after the fight and don't sh him how to like what way you deal with these things is it's only a learning curve absolutely for the we don't like to see them there don't like turn the whole thing around and just be happy to to have your family there like you know it is whenever I was fighting Lily I have my niece one of my my nieces with me and then a few nephews at different fights I can see the the buzz of taking them into the cage to after the fight it's the silly things they got that during years to come I don't care about the fights don't fighting doesn't really mean much to me don't like I enjoy it but it's their memories that you have with your family don't like and and stuff like that that's that's what the the Sport's about rather than all the other stuff that goes away don't like people people are very very quick to forget in the sport but your family is always your family 100% one of the things you said you want to do with your promotion is kind of a you know breed the Grassroots uh of MMA in this country what do you what advice would you give someone who is maybe just starting out in their MMA career or is just interested in starting they haven't really started yet but they maybe they want to uh kind of what I done whenever I started off like social media has has put a lot of pressure on the sport has also like put a lot of pressure on people that don't need pressure on them so what I would be saying is like get in enjoy the process don't think of the end goal like I want to get to the UFC or I want to fight wherever just get in and take each step as it comes enjoy your training enjoy your whatever Parts with you're sporing try to learn and then if it comes around to fighting then whenever your coach says they they call what about a fight or if you said your coach want to fight that's just the time then you start doing it because I see a lot of people come in nowadays and like they want to they might have went to show tonight they want to be the champion and then they're going to turn pro and they're going to go to cage Wars they're going to go to the US C but it's just like just you might have you might never go anywhere with your career so let's enjoy the smaller moments in dur like in the gym where you're training you come in and you might sub somethingone that's a hard B you you might SPO with somethingone you do you do well and then it's like right you're doing that so now we'll go to the the lower level shows you might have a novice fight or like a something that got down and it's like you done well at that we stick in and J I can just take each step as it com a lot of people want to jump straight on fill their t-shirts with sponsors and become the Prof profal athlete there's no other sport in the world that works like that but for somehow nowadays MMA fighters seem to think that five or six fights and I'm a world be yeah you know like so it's it's one of them things just enjoy the process okay right on um and if someone wants to jump on one of your cars they can ret out to you directly or how does that work ret out to me on on my Instagram page or even just go on your Fighting Championships and send me a message there and then between that we sorted out with uh yourself and your coach uh no fights are confirmed without coaches so J but if you want on the a lot of a lot of coaches to be flat out now so if you want the card send me a message and then we look at with with your coach and then we'll get you get you sorted awesome I I appreciate you having me down I want to be to the next one I think you have another one in or sorry when is your next one the next one's February 23rd we have just stuck a post up there I just just on the high of today awesome stick the poster up now sa spot canal canal Hotel Court hotel near yeah so that's where we'll be hopefully we get a bigger one at some stage next next year in the sports center and probably be double the capacity oh that' be great few more few more Pro fights in that on and uh then just mix between the two between the canal court maybe two or three times a year and then the big one in the sports center just to start to sort of send the pro Prof off know that's sort of I hope to be back in February all right you too sir all right thank you very much cheers all right he
