Ian Garry is obviously fighting for the world title against Islam Makhachev at UFC 330. But obviously the welterweight world title. Imagine like if Conor knocks out Max Holloway, they and then Ian beats Islam Makhachev, they'd put Conor against Ian for the for the world title. >> [music] >> The Energize show, up the Irish. Okay. Man, we are coming off one of the most action-packed weekends in combat sports Ireland's had all year. So, uh we are going to bring you all things UFC main events for, you know, the next two pay-per-views will be headlined by Irish men. Uh we also have all the action that happened over the weekend in Octagon Cage Warriors. Uh you know, Katie Taylor, if anyone has any tickets they want to send to my way, we'd be more than happy to take them off our hands. Zeus for boxing coming to Dublin. It's It's all things going on in the combat sports world here, Bas. >> Oh, man. Uh this is what we This is what we love about Irish combat sports. >> Yeah, absolutely. >> This is what we like about the game. >> It is a absolutely massive. So, why don't we just go in chronological order. The next UFC numbered event will be UFC 329. It will be Conor McGregor versus Max Holloway. Also with Paddy the Baddy on the on the card as well, which is definitely going to make the press conferences interesting. Uh tell us this, Bas. What What are your thoughts on the hype of the event so far? Obviously we had the McGregor and Holloway with Joe Rogan uh Freedom 250 and then just the hype build for the fight in general. What do you think? >> To be honest, yeah, it isn't as big as I thought it was going to be after Conor not fighting for 5 years. Now, bear in mind, he was scheduled to fight Michael Chandler and there was going to be a huge uh there was it going to be a huge thing in the 3Arena. We were like scheduled to go to that. I remember that was on a Monday. I remember I didn't drink that bank holiday. I was like, "We have to be fresh for this one, man." And then uh that obviously didn't that fell off. I think the Sunday night, wasn't it? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. So, this one hasn't felt that big. Like obviously, they did they had the back and forth with Joe Rogan, which would be massive for any fighter. I think they should do that for like every pay-per-view. Like I'd love to see Ian Garry do one with Islam Makhachev. >> Yeah. >> Whether it's Whether that be with Joe Rogan or Daniel Cormier or even Bisping. Bisping maybe he likes to like to like just getting few digs in there as well, you know? But uh obviously then Conor went on Ariel's show and then he went to Jimmy Kimmel's show and look, he said some interesting stuff as well, but like there's also been a lot of backlash. Like if you in your opinion, do you think there's been more positivity coming out of it or negativity coming out of it? >> See, it it it's hard hard to really tell because obviously Conor's been on shows like Jimmy Kimmel and likes and he's been received really, really well by the hosts and he's you know, he's over in America. I know you actually sent to me, but I seen that video that went viral where the guy runs into Peyton Manning and then runs into Conor McGregor in the same video. Like in the States, he seems to be still very, very well received. However, over in Ireland and UK, you know, he he's struggling to escape the Nikita Han trap where that's that's led him down. So, I think it's interesting to see he was on Jimmy Kimmel and you know lots of people spoke out about it saying that you know, the trial was never brought up as part of the interview etc. Now you know, you have to look at it from I suppose the media perspective as in you know did Ariel Helwani like say what are we talking about in this interview? Was that blacklisted from being brought up? Did the UFC blacklist from being brought up? Who knows? Even Ariel Yeah, even with Ariel. So, like we don't know whether that's something that you know if you bring that up, we'll walk out the interview or you know we're not doing the interview if you bring that up. Who knows? Um >> If you had to guess, what would you think? >> I don't know if I feel like maybe with Jimmy Kimmel, I think with like mainstream TV, I feel like you can tell people what to do more if that makes sense. With Ariel Helwani Look, maybe because it was maybe because it was in studio he felt more intimidated to bring it up as opposed to if it was over Zoom, maybe it'd be easier to bring it up, you know? >> Um Ariel's very clued in. Like obviously PT's on his show all the time. PT and Conor don't don't really speak anymore as well. So >> And like you know >> Look, at the end of the day, Conor McGregor losing that legal battle has tarnished his reputation forever. It's very hard to come back from that. You know what I mean? >> Yeah. >> Being held accountable for the sexual assault of a woman is something that is really not going to ever be washed off your record or you know turn your name's just going to be tarnished forever. And that's this is what what happens, you what I mean? Like you like you know these these things have consequences and obviously you know that's that's that's how it goes. So, I think the old public um If you if I had to like ask like 10 people in the street, I would say eight people are not fans of his anymore. You know what I mean? >> And even for instance like like we can stay on the topic like we were out over the weekend if you couldn't tell like and um like we were talking about doing the Energize Show and then people are like, "What do you think of Conor McGregor?" Like it's the first thing we get asked, you know what I mean? It's like >> Yeah, I'm not surprised. I'm not surprised that's the first thing, you know. >> Absolutely and it's gotten to a stage now where people actually forget that he was a a world-class fighter and like a world-class athlete. And it's more It's funny how successful he was in the cage. Now all anyone talks about are his out of the cage issues. >> Yeah. >> Um You know, I remember a day like Conor McGregor would either pick up a mango in the shop and eat it and that'll be a headline. You know what I mean? Now they we even like people might get arrested in Dublin. They're like, "Oh, friend of Conor McGregor's is arrested." You know what I mean? They're they're like Anything that can sort of bring the man's reputation down, the press know they got the clicks over and and that's what they're doing, you know what I mean? Um Uh And and that's sort of where where it's at for him um right now. I think his sister's tanning salon got in trouble. I think like They let an underage person do some tanning in there. And again like it'll be Conor McGregor's sister's tanning law salon gets fined. You know what I mean? I'm sure his pub got attacked got set on fire, didn't it? I think it it it's been attacked at least twice now, hasn't it? Uh like Yeah, there's He's not getting a good time from the Irish press and I think from the UK press now as well. And I think that's definitely going to affect the build up to the fight, at least over here. And it's going to be interesting to see, you know, historically at UFC press conferences, a lot of people will give out about the line of questioning. And Conor's been on the positive end of that where, you know, he's had journalists tell Conor McGregor tell McGregor's opponent that he's going to knock them out, which is probably not really them doing their job. And then he's had other journalists tell him that, you know, he's lost X amount of fights in a row as well as part of the question trying to go at him. So, it'll be very interesting to see. He's got a lot more press to do in the build up to this fight. He's obviously going to have a press conference to do. We'll see what happens there. And then there's uh Paddy the Baddy's going to be there as well. And Paddy the Baddy's definitely going to have one eye on probably both Max Holloway and Conor McGregor. Like that's a massive fight for him one way or the other. So, we'll have to definitely see if uh where where does Paddy Paddy the Baddy sit on Conor McGregor cuz he's going to be up there going like, that could be my next fight. And he could also look at Max Holloway and be like, that could be my next fight as well. And the winner of that fight could be I know that I know they're a fighter as well as well, but the winner of that fight could easily fight Justin Gaethje next. I know Arman Tsarukyan is sitting there on the sidelines, but UFC seem to actually hate that guy. So, uh who knows where [clears throat] that goes. But yeah, I I suppose very long-winded answer from myself, but it's very hard to see how the fight is building cuz over here like you even if he has said, "Oh, McGregor is a very good fighter." People don't even want to hear you say that and double with the moment, you know? >> It'd be It'd be interesting to see how many people click on this now to actually listen to our opinion on it, like, you know? >> Yeah. [snorts] And like Look at it at the end of the day I know I know it wasn't I know it was a civil trial, so like you sort of have to be cautious with the wording you use, but you you know what I mean? He was found liable for for the damages that that he done. And at the end of the day in the court of public opinion he's not he's not voting well in Ireland at the moment. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. And like like in in some facets he is as in like he's obviously very anti-immigration. There's a lot of people who are anti-immigration and sort of support him on that front. And then also like he he's become very religious all of a sudden. Well, not all of a sudden, over the last like 18 months. I think, you know some people are >> Publicly religious, I'd say. >> Yeah, publicly religious, you know what I mean? So, we'll see what that all that's about, you know what I mean? Um Look, if he's found God, he's found God. So be it. I just For me like it doesn't absolve you of all your sins the way uh you you might tell yourself. >> That's deep, bro. That's deep. But but I don't disagree. And well, look the thing >> Look, obviously come come UFC 329 like like I'm very interested to see the build-up. I'm very interested to see the press conference. I'm very interested to see the fight. In terms of the fight itself, I suppose that's something that we should look at. But as obviously he's been out for 5 years. He's had the broken leg. He's done a lot of rehab on it. Like what chances do you give him of beating Max Holloway who's been in there with the best in the world over the last 5 years time and time again? >> See, that's the thing. He hasn't fought in 5 years. He had that devastating leg break. He as you said in aerial that like most people mightn't be able to walk again. Mhm. And like as we've seen after like it happened to Anderson Silva, happened to Chris Weidman, like they were just never the same. >> Yeah. >> Like Max Holloway, if he goes in when he goes in there >> Yeah. >> he's going to be going for the leg. >> Oh, he is, yeah. >> 100%. >> Like why wouldn't he? I I I I can see it being a a stand-up fight as well. I don't think Max Holloway's going to want to um try and take him down. Like I I think he's going to want to try and beat him on the feet and like make him quit. >> Mhm. >> So like it's going to be really really interesting to see. Like I I believe Max Holloway is still in his prime. >> Like Max Max is obviously Max is actually a lot younger than people think. Maybe what age is he now? About 30? >> 34. >> He's 34, yeah. I was going to say 35, yeah. So he's still in his prime. >> Mhm. >> So and then Conor I think Conor's turning 30 eight on June in June. Would that be correct? >> Okay. Well, we're June now, so >> Oh, sorry. Excuse me, then it's July July. >> Okay. >> Yeah, so >> We're getting close to his birthday anyway. >> Yeah. Like and then look at how well is he treating his body over the last how many years, you know? Um that's that could be >> Yeah. >> [clears throat] >> And I know um I know people like obviously Max Holloway's known for having one of the best chins in the UFC and then obviously Topuria knocked him out and then people are questioning you know oh, what's the chin like? But then he went five rounds with Dustin Poirier and we all know Dustin Poirier definitely hits hard. And then he also went five rounds with uh Charles Oliveira and now obviously he got absolutely grappled out of it, not much, but at the end of the he's done another 50 minutes since his knockout loss without getting knocked out. So therefore his chin's probably still quite good anyway. So it's going to be very interesting to see how it goes, but I think of it you know, if McGregor is going to win, he's going to do it inside two rounds. I think that's what everyone thinks. >> Yeah. Well, like according to the bookies, Max Holloway's the favorite. >> So and look, if the shoe was on the other foot and like Max Holloway was coming in after 5 years after the leg break, and then Conor had been active, you'd be thinking Conor would be the favorite. So, look >> Absolutely. >> Yeah. But obviously obviously we support the Irish MMA scene. And like we want the Irish people to win. That's just the way it is. Look, like it is what it is. Um then also just touching on that as well. You don't want to look too much into the future. Obviously, speaking of the future, Ian Garry is obviously fighting for the world title against Islam Makhachev, a UCE 30, but obviously the welterweight world title. Imagine like if Conor knocks out Max Holloway they they and then Ian beats Islam Makhachev, they put Conor against Ian for the for the world title. >> How interesting would that >> Yeah, that that would absolutely be huge, but I think Ian Garry has the opportunity to do something really really special here. First of all, he's fighting the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world. And if you look at that welterweight division and who you think actually has a chance of beating Islam Makhachev, Ian Garry is the best shot. Ian Garry has got the perfect skill set to get the job done. Like people look at Islam Makhachev and they look at him as if he's this unbeatable character. A featherweight Volkanovski gave him all he could handle and then some. And some people would even argue that Volkanovski won that match-up. That's that's a man who fights a featherweight. Ian Garry is up at welterweight. He is long, he is uh rangy, he is dangerous. He finds ways to hurt fighters that other fighters aren't even aware of. Like look what he did Shavkat Rakhmonov. We haven't even seen him since Shavkat won that fight. So, Islam Makhachev is going to really really have to be on his A game to be able to handle Ian Garry. Ian Garry's defensive grappling is really really good. His striking is really really good. And his evasiveness is really really good. He has no problem winning the fight by whatever means necessary. And I think he's going to be a really really difficult challenge for Islam Makhachev. And not only that, if Ian Garry does win and beat Islam Makhachev, he has a whole list of fights right there that's sitting there for him. Ian Garry has rubbed so many fighters up the wrong way that there are so many fights sitting there waiting for him to be made. Ian Garry versus Kamaru Usman. Usman was obviously in Killcliff, Garry was in Killcliff. They would have trained together. I'm sure there's training footage of them training together. A returning Shavkat Rakhmonov. Ian Garry would have been shelved for that long. It'd be interesting to see them have a rematch. Let's go up to 185. We all know Sean Strickland and Ian Garry have had words before. How interesting would that be as a match-up? Ian Garry trying to become champ-champ. Ian Garry and Carlos Prates. Um, those two seem to love each other, but who would not love to see that fight? I'd be I'd be so game for a rematch. You know what I mean? Ian Garry beat him first time out, but Prates did have him really hurting round five of their match-up in Brazil. That would be really interesting. And then obviously, uh, Miles Morales himself, Michael Morales. Uh, yeah, but Miles Morales isn't Spider-Man figure. Uh, that there's another great match-up for Ian Garry. So, Ian Garry wins here, the world world is his oyster, line-up of contenders. He can go all day, and I think it could be absolutely frightening for him uh, to see how good a run he could go on. I think if Ian Garry goes and wins this welterweight title, he could go on an absolutely historic run. He could easily go up to middleweight and become champ-champ. And also, if he goes up to middleweight, also the boogeyman, Khamzat Chimaev is there. We've all seen that interaction as well. So, there is an absolute plethora of people for Ian Garry to fight after he wins this belt. He could be defending this belt down there on that for years, and he'd become one of the greatest ever do it. >> The thing is, like I know you mentioned a lot of things there, but even his fight IQ is very, very high level. >> Yeah, it really Yeah, he And >> is, he's also settled down now in Brazil. >> Yeah, he is. He's really breaking these fighters down. >> But like he he seems to be quite settled in multiple locations. I think he has a house in the UK as well. And he seems to like when he's there, he seems to have really great training partners there. Like he seems to bring in uh Oban Elliott quite a bit. I think Shea Ingram's in there a bit. Um I think I saw Jack Grant in there. Um >> Reece McKean had Reece over once. >> Well, I don't think he's part of his like core people there. Like he he he he's had a load of people He he he he's had a load of people over there to to train with him. >> Yeah, I mean more so like this the Shooter Box team that come with him. I think I think he that's like >> Yeah, and plus he's got Demian Maia. Like I he's going to clearly lean very heavily into Demian Maia for this camp. One of the best grapplers in the world. One of the best jiu-jitsu practitioners in the world. And one of the most dominant UFC grapplers of all time. So, it's going to be very interesting to see. And Ian Garry comes across as someone who like will happily put himself in those worst positions possible. And also he like like you said, he went to Georgia to go and learn that Jordan style of wrestling as well. And we did see it. We saw Umar Nurmagomedov struggle against Merab Dvalishvili. So, like the Dagestani wrestlers like they can be defeated. Uh I know a lot of people feel like Islam is next level and he is next level. But so is Ian Garry. >> I know. And he shut down Belal Muhammad as well, who was also trained a lot with those Dagestani dudes. >> Oh, sorry. They don't always beat the champ. >> [laughter] >> Oh. Man, that's that's it's it's very like man. Like it doesn't get more interesting this like right now. Like you know what I mean? Conor 229, Ian three uh sorry 329, Ian 330. It's going to be crazy. Very very interesting. Absolutely. And Ian's only coming coming into his prime, as well. >> He's only coming into his prime, after that, as well. >> Yeah, Ian's only coming into his prime. Like, Ian's not even 30 yet. >> Best years to come. >> Yeah. >> You know what I mean? >> Yeah, so like, we'll obviously be keeping you up-to-date with all that action, as well. >> It's It's very, very interesting, man. It is very, very interesting. Like Like Like if Ian wins, will he come back and do a press >> best in all of Ireland, like >> Hopefully so. >> papers He's only He's only 28, like he could be He could easily have another 6 years of being good. >> Yeah, I know. Or if Ian wins, or if Conor wins the next day, will that be covered? You know, like you know what I mean? It's It's going to be very, very interesting. >> Two Two The two most disliked untalented fighters the country has ever ever seen are both in action. >> Very, very soon. >> [laughter] >> We will be covering it, cuz that's what we do. I know obviously the title of this home now was obviously with the Ian and the Conor, so like it Let's see what people actually think of this one, cuz there was no guest this week, cuz um Look, there's a lot of Irish fights that happened over the weekend. Also, myself and Ross were out, and then sometimes when there's a lot to talk about, it's sort of difficult to get a guest on to like talk about with totally different before getting into like the biggest news of the week. So >> Absolutely. So we're going to go from two of the biggest names in the sport to the champ champ of the sport. Will Fleury. Man, I was going into that fight, and I know we had Will on in the build-up, and I was thinking this fight feels a bit like a filler fight. But my god, did I have a special feeling after the fact. The way he went in there and absolutely pulverized his opponent. The way his brother sang him out of the cage, and the way they brought in his opponent straight away afterwards for the next fight. It felt like all eyes were on Will Fleury. He is the man. And happy Father's Day to the daddy of Octagon, Will [ __ ] Fleury. What a guy. Uh unbelievable scenes. I thought he handled things so well. Uh the whole the whole build-up to the fight, the walkout, the performance, it was all so cinematic from It was absolutely sensational from start to finish. Put some respect on that man's name. He's one of the best mixed mixed martial artists ever out of this country. He looks more frightening and more dominant every time he makes that walk. He is the man to beat. He is the absolute raw bastard. I absolutely love this man. I think he's absolutely sensational. Octagon, you have an absolute star on your hands. That man deserves far more respect than he's getting. He deserves far more articles to be written about him. He deserves far more time spent on people's lips and in people's mouths. He is an absolute juggernaut of a human being. Yeah, that like man the way he like the fight was over by 1 second, and he was already like helping his opponent up as well. And then he's so deep as well. He He was getting deep on the mic after, wasn't he? Like And he's like the way the next fighter came in he who he's fighting now on August the 1st, like he was he was so humble towards him as well. Like >> He's already knocked him out though. >> I know, but it's just like >> I need to be grateful to >> He's like he looks Yeah, but he looks scary. >> And he's like completely not like he's a champ champ. You swear he like he'd walk in like >> And I I did something weird worry about as well that I was like I was like oh he's fighting again what is it 6 or 7 weeks time? >> Yeah, very very a bit soon but >> [clears throat] >> It is quite soon. >> The only thing we'll say is he weighed in 107 kilos. So he has what 14 kilos to lose to make that weight? So like is that doable? I don't like I don't know. We need someone like John Connor or something here or Yiannis McGee tell us whether that's possible but it seems like a somewhat manageable goal. The only thing is he probably doesn't get to go out and have a beer and celebrate afterwards cuz he has to be careful in his camp who he's already. I would have I would like to see him like maybe an 8 weeks gap where he has 2 months >> Yeah. >> Cuz to me it's just about the weight. It's not about the He went in there and actually demolished the man. Uh even though obviously he definitely got beaten up more in camp than he did in the fight but yeah, I think it is a quick turnaround but look don't call him the raw bastard for nothing. He'll get the >> [laughter] >> job done. And shout out Will, that was epic as well. >> He also laid in the the the Jaco stipulations as well. He was like if Jaco wins that middleweight belt I'll come down and win that off you as well. And I always said that if Will Fury is to go back down to middleweight he has to have at least one fight at light heavyweight first. Like his body has to be used to getting smaller. >> Yeah. >> Cancel sport life. >> Yeah. No more sports then. The sport gang is done. Um yeah, so we will keep up to date with that as well. And unfortunately on the night Dennis Siver was not successful. Look, he fought probably the best fighter he fought today. Former featherweight title challenger moving up to flyweight. Got caught. These things happen. He didn't shy away from it in the post fight. He says you have to celebrate the losses as much as the wins. It's all part of the journey. And look, Dennis Siver is a top athlete, very very entertaining. He's must-see every time he's fighting. We're definitely watching. And look, Dennis Dennis Siver will be back. And because he's such a big character as well, he is always putting himself in around that top 10 top five title conversations because people love to watch him. He's the ultimate villain over an octagon. Let's see him get in there and let's see him let's see him do the business. You said he could potentially move up to welterweight as well. Yeah, I'd be happy for him. And then also unfortunately Richie Smullen was unsuccessful as well, Ross. Yeah, look obviously a rough night for Richie Smullen. First time ever being stopped. Richie's an unbelievable talent. He's probably underappreciated in the Irish MMA scene. He helps so many other fighters as well along the along the way. So many fighters actually look up to Richie. And I say it all the time. Hopefully we'll see Richie back out there again in a short while. And look, I think I think octagon's a good fit for him. I think featherweight's a good fit for him. I think he is definitely far too talented to for us not see him in there and make another run for that belt. I agree. I agree. Then that was that was obviously octagon from over the weekend and then we'll keep you up to date on the build up to Will Ferraby's light heavyweight title defense on August the 1st. Then Ross, we're going to go from Berlin to Manchester As obviously over the weekend Cage Warriors Cage Warriors had two nights in Manchester's BC Arena on the Friday Cage Warriors 206 and on the Saturday Cage Warriors 207. Ross, we have to start at Cage Warriors 206 in the main event Andreas Binder got the win. Ross, where does Andreas Binder go from here, man? >> I think it looks like Sean Clancy is going to the Contender Series. It looks Leon Hill gone to the PFL. Adam Darby, I don't think his next fight will be with Cage Warriors Ross either. So, all I think Andreas Binder versus Justin Burlinson for the for the Cage Warriors belt and I think the winner should go straight into UFC. I know he's called out Daniel Frunza who recently beat for UFC Paris. I would also love that match up for him. It's just not a proven great track record of fighters going directly into the UFC from Cage Warriors. A lot of time they are doing Contender Series first. So, who knows? The Contender Series I'd also be happy to for him to see. But if that doesn't come to fruition cuz I know that Contender Series is filling up thick and fast. I would love to see him versus Justin Burlinson for the Cage Warriors title. It'd be cool if they booked that around the same time of the Contender Series cuz then either Burlinson or Binder could be called up to the Dana White's Contender Series. One thing I think would be classy to see would be see like Binder maybe fight Sean Clancy on the Contender Series for the Cage Warriors title. I think that would be really really cool. I don't think that'd be classy of them. What do you think? >> Yeah, I wouldn't be against it. I Contender Series have never really done that. So, can't really see it happening. But look, why not? Like yeah, why not? But also the um Andreas Binder situation is I think he's should be fighting for a title next without I think he's just like he's above every the the non-contenders. >> Yeah. >> Like obviously he's he's also LFL champ champ as well. Like he was on the the ultimate fighter. I think him there with a title next makes sense. That would call call that headline. Cage Warriors Dublin, Ross. >> Yeah, absolutely. Why not? I think it's big enough for me. I was I'm looking at it now and >> Cuz what what there's no update >> from Paddy McCourt, either. >> No. I [snorts] I think he is the furthest along, I think, out of anyone in Cage Warriors who isn't a title holder. >> Then, Ross, we have to go to the two Team Ryano lads. As also Solomon King Solomon got the victory as well at lightweight. And then the GTA selector, Ger Harris, is back with a win, Ross. >> Yeah, Solomon Solomon, very tricky opponent against Moya. He had this capoeira base. It looked like it was very hard to get a read on it. His movement was very lateral. But it was like sort of like the very capoeira jumping style. And I think it was hard to get a read, but as the fight went on, Saul very much took over. And again, with with less than a minute to go, got the ground and pound finish. And cemented himself as a lightweight contender as well. I like lightweight for Saul. I think featherweight and lightweight are two great weight classes for him that he can make. He's in phenomenal shape. Um his power seems to carry up both weight classes. So, why not let him chop and change between them to see what fits for him. But uh I think Saul Saul King Solomon is someone who I think would I think one more win would either be fighting for the belt again or could be looking at a Dana White's Contender Series card. I think he is he is there. He is ready. I think he's the right age, the right physical peak of his career to be making those big moves. >> If he was to go on the Contender Series, do you think it would be a featherweight or lightweight? >> I think I think I think maybe that's possibly why he's gone up to lightweight to basically tell the Contender Series that he can make either. So, therefore, if you need if you need a hook or by Barry, there he is. >> Okay. And then what about Jera? Like, quote one of the best promos ever after as well. Jera Harris Jera Harris winning is always great crack, isn't it? >> Yeah, look, Jera Harris everyone's know everyone knows Jera Harris is a very talented fighter. He's got skills. He is good on the ground. He's good on the feet. Good on the mic as well. >> Um >> Yeah. >> You know that. You know that. >> You know that. >> But look, I think >> The King of Ballybrack is back. >> a Cage Warriors 206 Unplugged for the first time in a while was very patient Jera Harris. He really really picked his moments throughout the fight. And by picking his moments, he let his skills do the talking. Was really really good with his uh shot selection. Really really cautious with his ground and pound, but also vicious at the same time. I thought it was the best performance we've seen from in a long time. Didn't get into playing his opponent's game or trying to beat his opponent at their game, which he's been caught out with doing before. Really really patient. Really really clinical. And the best Jera Harris we've seen in a while. And And the thing with Jera Harris is he's never he's never been blown out of the water. No one's ever you know, beaten Jera Harris badly, if you know what I mean. No. You You know, Jera Harris you could say he's running out of time against opponents as opposed to been beaten by them. And at the end of the day, I think he's never going to be far off a title shot. He talks the talk. He walks the walk. Very entertaining in and out of the cage. And Cage Warriors world title is definitely potentially in his future. >> You know that. You know that. Then Ross we have to touch on the fight the potential fight of the night as Trevor McCangle defeated Mario Work in like one of the biggest barn burners you've seen in in the first round fight. >> Yeah, these two boys did the Max Holloway point down without doing the point down. These two boys want to swing leather. It was an absolute brawl for round. I mean we said that I think I said that on last week's show that I think this could be fight of the night and I think I think it was. I think it was an absolute terrific fight. Mario Work I think for him I think he needs to move back down to middleweight at a minimum. I think he just didn't look like he he looked like he was carrying the weight for the sake of carrying the weight as well. So I think a leaner, faster, sharper Mario Work out at middleweight would be a much better version of him. And Trevor McCangle showing he's got the power. He looked great physically he looked big in there and it was great to see him get a win back on track for himself. So shout out to big Trev cuz he was waiting a while to get that fight over the line. But at two absolute units going toe-to-toe and absolutely loved it. Um Yeah. Also just want to touch on Trev's teammate Alexander um Look he was putting in a career best performance up until he got caught by Alexander Loof. It's very rare that I'd be texting people in the middle of fights about a fight of my own fruition. Like a lot of times someone would go how is this fight going or how is that fight going? You probably get that as well Bas. Like someone so far yeah whatever. I was blown away by Alex I was texting people like this is the best I've ever seen him. This he looks absolutely incredible in here. He's put Loof on the back foot. Loof looked like he was so uncomfortable in there couldn't get anything off. All of a sudden Loof fires this absolute Hail Mary left hook and it lands right on the button for Alex O'Sullivan and he gets an absolute vicious and violent knockout against Alex O'Sullivan. Look, devastating like it really was. I don't think I've felt for a fighter so long watching so long. I've seen that happen. But look, that's the name of the game. It's a cruel sport and I suppose one thing you can take from it he was he was totally in control of the fight up into the build build up to it. So, his boxing looks so so crisp. You know his boxing is so good it was almost as if all the things that the guys in SBG might say about him was actually happening in the cage. They say how good he is, how good his shot selection is, how much pressure he puts on them. It was all coming to fruition there and then and unfortunately he got caught. He looked absolutely like a world beater that night. He looked like he was UFC level there ready to rock. >> And you see how experienced he was as well. >> Yeah. He was he was really going in there and leaving a mark. He was laying down the gauntlet in there for Leufau. And Leufau threw a Hail Mary and it landed. And look, obviously don't want to say it was a lucky shot cuz obviously he threw the punch. >> No, Leufau is a dangerous man. Like he Alex knew that going into the fight. Like that this was a this is a potential title shot eliminator. Like this is a >> Yeah, absolutely. Like Leufau is a heavy hitter. Yeah, a very heavy hitter. >> Sure, like Alex is still very young as well. So, I think he said he was 27. So, he'll definitely be back in with another run. So, uh That that was unfortunate but fortunately Alex is all right and he's been hanging around in Manchester. So, look, Alex will be back without doubt. And then Ross, we have to give a shoutout to Emma Darcy who was unfortunately defeated as well. >> Yeah, look, Emma Darcy she it was all going well until it wasn't. I think she's she's very much fallen in love with her sidekick and I think from watching this, she looks almost over long time. I think her biggest weapon is her hands. I love to see her go back to make her hands her biggest weapon. Um I think that's how she gets the respect and terrifies her opponents with that power in her punch punches. I think the sidekick yes, it can be effective and she almost throws it like a jab. She's constantly throwing it. But once you don't miss on it and I feel like she's in a more vulnerable position. I suppose with the hands, I feel like she can protect herself a lot better back and forth. So I like to see her use more of the hands. But again, I'm not a coach or I'm not an MMA coach. That's just my armchair quarterback and basketball. >> The best man, you changed since you grew that mustache, man. But like it look I'm sure Aíne will be back as well. >> She's an absolute legend. Like she's a real really good role model for women's MMA in Ireland. I just said MMA in Ireland in general. Really nice girl. Uh obviously just want to see her get her hand raised every single time. >> man. Of course, man. Anytime you see any of the good girls, it's it's different when the girls lose as well. You're just a bit like cuz like there's not many of them and then the more women do better, the more women go into the sport as well. So 100%. >> But look like she Aíne will be back as well. >> Then Ross, we have to move on to Cage Warriors 207. As unfortunately as well, Conor McGregor was defeated by George Staines. Ross, we thought this was like a massive fight. It turned out to be a massive fight. Um do you want to say anything about >> probably what this was probably fight of the night. >> George Staines now saying that he he's ready to go to the UFC. So like >> I think he is, to be honest. >> Yeah. >> Like Conor McGregor is absolutely no joke. The way he defends takedowns so good. >> All in the first round. >> His boxing was so good. He looked incredible and George Staines just used look like he he got onto the back and look, that's a position there he's very dominant from. And Conor McCarthy fought very, very valiantly. A few couple of hand adjustments were made and he he eventually got caught with it. Look, Conor McCarthy, one thing I will say is very impressed by the amount of traveling fans that Conor McCarthy brought with him. You know, Conor McCarthy chance for louder than the George Saint Saint's chance over there. You know, it's a lot further to go from Claim than it is to go from Liverpool or Hull. So, shoutout to everyone who traveled for Conor McCarthy. And shoutout to Conor McCarthy, you know what I mean? Not only did he put in a stellar performance, he took the loss like a champ as well. He will be he will be back. He will be a perennial contender in Cage Warriors. And I've no doubt he will make it to the highest level of the sport. He's just too good. His hands are too good. I just think he he's there thereabouts. >> Yeah, he's a very young as well. He's definitely what? >> Yeah, you Conor McCarthy could easily argue he was fighting the best lightweight Cage Warriors has to offer. Yeah, like George Saint could easily be the uncrowned king of lightweight. I know obviously the lightweight title was fought later on that he and you know, Meal Brown and U and Davis and U and Davis won. Like, if George Saint fought U and Davis, and the result's for George Saint to be the favorite, possibly. U and U and Davis is good though as well, you know. No, he is he is very, very good. I'm not taking that away from him either. I'm more so saying that's how good George Saint is as well. Like, George Saint is definitely like top five like definitely. Yeah, and so is like George Hardwick, Jordan Vucenic, you know what I mean? There's Yeah, you know what I mean? Like Saul There's at least five others there. Yeah, Saul and so on. Like, there's so many people who've either held the belt or are the champion or the next contender up. They're all there thereabouts. It's a really, really stacked division. Adam Cullen as well got a win. Nathan Fletcher got a win. Yeah. There you go. Right, Ross. There is a few more things that we have to cover as well before we wrap up the show. Obviously, we're on Cage Warriors right now. But this weekend, Cage Warriors 208 goes down as Dean Aaron Treacy, Dean McKenna from Omar Rowell, Stephen Costello from SBG Ireland, and Alex Keogh from SBG Naas all compete on the card, Ross. >> Yeah, absolutely. This is going to be an absolute massive card again for the Irish. Unbelievable to see. Can't wait to see Alex Keogh. What a pro debut he made at Cage Warriors 200. He does not like to leave the first round, and he is against a really tough opponent and in Yo. Yo is I think he's an Olympian and gymnast. So, I think it could be the first time that Alex Keogh's athleticism is challenged in an about. So, let's see how that one goes. I'm really looking forward to it. But I still think Alex Keogh will get the job done. Damien McKenna put on a fight of the night performance last time out at Cage Warriors 200 as well. That's going to be a massive fight for him. We saw some crazy little tricks that he had in his bag that night. Let's see can he get get the job done this time out. He looks to be an ever-evolving talent. Also, we have Stephen Costello, who as far as I'm aware was supposed to fight on Cage Warriors 200, had one or two pull outs, didn't happen for him. Let's see him getting in there at Cage Warriors 208 get the job done and get that Cage Warriors first win under his belt. >> Yeah, that's going to That's a big night. That's this Saturday. We'll keep you up to date on that as well. Then also, we have to give a shout out to Team Rowell's Lewis Byrne is fighting on Samurai. That's going to be on in Wales. Lewis last time out won at Cage Warriors 200, Ross. >> Yeah, absolutely. This is the best shape I've ever seen Lewis Byrne in. He looks absolutely shredded. >> that every time, man. >> He is Also, he's got a phenomenal mullet. So, yeah, Lewis Byrne looks like he is ready for a By the biggest fight of his career. He's taking on Ben Ellis who brought Max Holloway the Holloway to to the distance. Max Lally or Max Lally, sorry. Max Holloway, too. He brought Max Lally to the distance at Cage Warriors. He won a really really tough outing for Lewis and not only that, he's doing it in Ben's backyard. So, he's going over there for a Samurai fighting night. That's going to be huge one over in Wales, but Lewis Byrne is going over there to keep his and remain undefeated. So, I can't wait to see that. Ireland versus Wales over in the valleys. Let's have a bazooka. >> Yeah, man. And then also before we wrap things up, we have to give a shout out to Valor that happened over the weekend as Team Torres and SBG Charlestown's very own Shea Cleary got the round one submission victory over Ernie Brogan Ross. Yeah, absolutely. Shea Cleary he is a force to be reckoned with. He was always one of the top prospects at amateur and now he's two and out as a pro. Two really really good wins. I think he's definitely someone to look out for. And shout out to Valor. I really like the way they run their shows, submission bonuses, knockout bonuses, fight of the night bonuses. Really really cool way to do it, but Shea Cleary he looks like he is a top prospect and I would love to see someone like Cage Warriors snap him up. I think that would be a really cool thing to see. We've got plenty of Team Torres people fighting on the Cage Warriors card. Like his coach Declan McAleenan, like the likes of Kieran Brady, and why not get Shea Cleary in there. I think he's a really really tough talent and we've watched him for years now. And Charlestown fighters on it as well. Yeah, exactly. So, I think it's a really really good option for Cage Warriors. >> Yeah, so Ross, we've obviously covered everything.
