Post-fight interview with amateur fighter Sean McGreevy after GFC 2 - GladiatEire Fighting Championships 2. He says he felt good afterward and did not expect the bout to go as it did: he had wanted more time on the feet and had leaned heavily into boxing over the last two months, but he took his opponent down early in the first round, found it easy enough, and chose to stay on top to reduce striking risk. He remembers little beyond snippets and highlights the walkout as the most memorable moment. His corners told him to keep the same approach—takedowns, top control, and staying out of the opponent’s guard because the opponent was most dangerous off his back—and he followed that through the second round. His pre-fight plan had been to finish on the feet or at least strike more before finishing on the ground. He describes himself as amateur and says he wanted more stand-up experience but adjusted when the ground game worked. Looking ahead, he wants an active 2026 with about five or six fights, roughly every two months, after a slow 2025 with limited activity until around November. He closes with celebration plans: food, beers, and a fillet steak medium rare in a couple of hours.

All right, everyone. Welcome back. We were All right, we're recording. >> All right, everyone. Welcome back. Uh, Gladiator Fine Championship. I have here Mr. Sean McGrevy. >> Y, >> first of all, congratulations, sir. >> Thank you very much. Hey. >> How you feeling after that? >> Good. Good. It's hard. It's not a hard feeling. >> Was uh did that end the way you expected it to? I thought I was going to have more time in the feet to be honest, but >> okay. >> Took him down early in the first and thought if we can take him down, I may as well, you know. >> Uh, do you is do you train to be on your feet? Like are you a stand up guy? Do you >> mix like but the the last last two months or so a lot of my boxing, but I found that the first round I took him down easy enough. So thought may as well alleviate some of the risk on the feet. So may as well just take them down if possible. Thank you. Um, talk about like what what what's the what's the most memorable moment for you? Like what do you what's sticking out to you right now? >> Walking out majority. I don't really remember much of the fights to be honest. These tiny tiny snippets, [laughter] >> but uh >> Okay. >> Yeah. mainly just to walk out and stuff. >> All right. Um, what was uh like in between rounds, what were your corners saying to you when they were in the cage with you? you know, so we saw you uh you know, standing there and then, you know, obviously, you know, trying to talk to you, like what what are they telling you and then like what are you hearing? >> Just kind of, you know, keep up what I was doing from the first round, then followed on to the second as well. They were kind of just saying keep doing that. Keep keep taking them down, keep stay on top, obviously stay of his guard cuz that's when he's most dangerous off his back. But, uh, besides that, just continue doing what you're doing as we beat the RS again. >> Yeah, absolutely. And um um clearly you were able to uh take uh take that advice. Uh like did you have like like what were your expectations like what would did you have a game plan coming into this >> a finish on the feet? Probably was my game plan like or at least leave it dropping finish the ground in the finish the fight on the ground. Sorry. But uh yeah a bit more striking was definitely the game plan but just the way it goes like you know what I mean. >> Can't complain. >> Yeah. [laughter] Um h how did you um [clears throat] so in the middle of things like you know h how did you adjust your game plan to fit the moment? I was training for my fight. Like I wasn't just training for the fight on the feet. But >> yeah, >> I was just kind of wanting wanting to put more time in the feet for more experience. I'm only amateur. So this is where you you gain a lot of experience. But it was handy enough on the ground. So [ __ ] it as well. >> You know what I'm saying? >> Right on. Right on. Um so like what's what's what's [singing and music] next for you? Like what what's next year? >> Active active fight. >> How many fight how many times would you like to fight next year? >> Five six fights. Like I want to fight at least every every two months or so. Okay. >> It was very didn't get much activity either up until about November. The whole year 2025 just other [ __ ] going on. Wasn't feeling as much but I want to stay like year. >> Okay. Um, [laughter] >> you got you got quite the audience here. Like what's it? >> Yes, bro. >> Clearly they're they're all happy for you. You know, what's it like to be able to come here, perform, and then give them, you know, kind of the uh, you know, the victory like >> good big night out. >> Yeah. >> For all sweaters after me and hang. What are your plans for the rest of the evening then? >> Nice food, few beers, possibly. Uh, oh, just chill out, right? >> Crack. >> Uh, what what's your go-to meal after this? Like what are you going to do? >> Actually going for a steak here in a couple hours. Yeah. >> What kind? >> Uh, big fillet or something. >> Okay. How do you like how do you take your steak? >> Medium rare. >> Medium. All right. >> Yeah. Medium rare. >> I'm going to pass. >> What do you get? >> Uh, I think it's like rare. >> Rare? >> Yeah. >> Medium rare. No, I I'll eat it rarely. >> Warm on the inside is how I like it. [laughter] >> All right. Look, man. I don't want to take too much of your time. I don't want to keep you from that steak. Okay. Uh, look, I I appreciate your time. Thank you very much.
