Hello everyone, thank you everyone… please stay tuned for the next episode. Fight for the Future Foundation — the Fight for the Future foundation is an organization set up to give opportunities to underprivileged children who lack opportunities in sports and education, and to develop the potential of children in the 70-rai Khlong Toei community so they can live with purpose. Projects include the Khlong Toei Fight Festival, a mixed martial arts competition event intended to develop children in the community so they have a chance to compete in a standard format and to stimulate the local economy. It is also a competition that helps push children in the community to have life goals and open a path from amateur sport toward professional competition, with cooperation from the TAMA association and ONE as promoters and supporters in various parts of the Fight for the Future foundation and the Khlong Toei Fight Festival project. The Khlong Toei Fight Festival has been well received, with teams and celebrities from the combat sports world taking part, plus a half-time show that made the Khlong Toei community better known outside. For the 3rd Khlong Toei Fight Festival there was live streaming on social media for the first time, with over 1 million views in total through celebrity and participant channels, and 4,000 views from streaming on YouTube. The Khlong Toei Fight Festival has laid a foundation for organizing and live broadcasting mixed martial arts events, and the Fight for the Future foundation is ready to organize larger events, including cooperation with the TAMA association going forward. Hello, hello — welcome to the show. I’m Upanayok, here with a big project… and Amp herself. Right now it’s all good news. We’re back at the association and we’ll talk about the good things everyone should know. The latest good news for Thai MMA: one gold medal at the Asian Games from Amp Kanjuta Patthalabunsorn in women’s modern 54 kg. This time I tried not to shout as much — I wanted Amp to stay calm, not panic or get over-excited, not over-talk. The plan was steady, step by step, even if it felt rushed. Many people said the corner calls were very clear in the arena; I don’t know — she was really calm, especially in the final. In the first two rounds we faced the Philippines; we already know their style. Amp had faced both countries before and had beaten Indonesia — for listeners this was the fourth time, though she’s met them many rounds. Did the opponents level up? Level up, especially Indonesia — they prepared very well. In the first round against Kyrgyzstan they couldn’t get the game they wanted, but against Amp maybe there was pressure inside — that’s my guess. On our side we added techniques. I don’t like saying “ready or not” before a fight because after it’s done you can say you were ready; everything we said beforehand matched the plan — exactly, really according to the plan we had all along and the fight plan. We study opponents, especially the final because we’d never seen Bahrain’s James… Coach James for Bahrain — it’s not just that he’s skilled; he may not look like a typical national look in comments. Many Thai comments ask why Bahrain looks the way he does, more European than Middle Eastern — does that affect anything? It affects not knowing his form, but in the first two bouts Amp had already fought those opponents and could adjust. For Bahrain, the night before weigh-ins I did homework almost all night — he’s strong, beat the host, beat Korea with takedowns, flow takedowns, big frame, longest in the division, full weight class. At weigh-in we could only do about 52 kg, around 51 point something; Amp usually around 51.8, about 52, but Bahrain came 53.8 — big. Maybe because the division is small and they don’t split divisions as much in Asia — for us expanding weight is normal; economically organizers pick divisions that give the most slots — we had to accept and move on. Amp can fight two weights, about 49 and 54. Hello everyone watching at home — eat with us at home. After landing you went straight to important things? Yes, time at home. How is it coming home — still feels like a dream that you really got Asian Games gold; normal life but still asking if it’s real; Facebook feed all your photos — still feels unreal but very happy, pink everywhere, beyond what Amp expected. Amp has competed many sports but this is the first time she felt everyone shared in her success so much — encouragement, welcome, congratulations overflowing, never felt this before, never saw herself like this. First Asian Games for Amp in MMA — second Asian Games overall; first was jujitsu, out first round; this second time in a new sport, feelings very different. First time Amp says was overconfidence — thought she’d beaten everyone, didn’t think about dark horses, was sure of a medal, very disappointed when it didn’t happen. This time more ready; confident yes but measured — had to win this round. Pressure from before related? Yes — every athlete at big events has pressure; Amp pressures herself a lot which can hurt results; this time pressure on top of comfort, accepting any outcome because MMA is uncertain. We’re watching the walkout for the final — amateur vs pro walkout different? Different — amateur Amp feels she carries country, family, association; pro is just herself. In Japan it felt different. Amp didn’t focus on opponents at Asian Games — focused on herself, ready to fight any country; talked with Coach Kew that adjusting the game is the coach’s job, Amp just follows the plan. Did Coach do his job? Excellently — people joked corner was very clear; maybe mic or quiet arena, I don’t know. Final opponent — homework all night, wanted to get on top fast but got reversed. First moment Amp shot and he swept up — Amp lighter, balance forward a bit, easier sweep; weight matters on the ground; Amp bounced off because he’s big tall — about two kg difference when he landed strikes. Damage? In the semi and final Amp didn’t feel scared of weapons; many shots landed but still fine, still green; his weapons heavy every shot, very strong; karate combat background, pro experience, superstar at home — Bahrain, imported from Russia. Nationality switches — before my England youth days one nation wait 4 years; now faster — Belarus combat then Bahrain for Asian Games; he earned it, destiny. Hardest round? The final — disadvantaged everywhere plus never seen him — hard work on Coach Kew and Amp following plan; all night studying what to cut — main thing pressure and fear Amp won’t be herself, e.g. when hit wanting revenge instead of slow calm — in MMA one mistake changes the game. Ajarn Pitchit helped a lot mentally before flying, about two weeks — mind control, planning what to play, stay with yourself; not just Coach’s plan but mental side; step by step, journal on fight day, present not future gold — play best, show best; gold is bonus. Second Asian Games vs Valencia Indonesia — first round all silver-level opponents; three countries maybe one-shot strategy against Amp — compliment because must beat Amp at everything which is hard over years learning many martial arts. Footwork — hour footwork in session, two hours total hour and a half footwork rest technique; not just running, recovery drills; 10 kg cuts not helping now, more injury, explosive power cardio — MMA-specific program not like others; Amp was grappling foreign style, opponents who lost to Amp adjust — Valencia lost first at GAMMA Worlds to armbar round 4, fixed armbar; third meet China Amp said round 1 guard armbar round 2 fix stand round 3 fix knees — Asian Games he tried knee entries too but lost on stoppage; two stoppages. Ground weapons kilo for kilo arm triangle etc still more. Training adds and reviews old moves. Ask Amp anything except money — only money off limits. Question from Slawut… disappeared — side humor sorry — Amp world jujitsu champ, MMA Asian Games champ — want to see Amp world MMA pro champ like ONE champions — can federation make small FC dream real? Thank you — Amp wants pro if opportunity, up to seniors; association president decides; Thai fans want Amp success at highest level — could be ONE champ specifically or UFC — many want Amp in ONE in Thailand; preparation is that level; from association exec and fan and coach view same — will see soon. Media ask pro path — timing; maybe thought ready before C-GAME, won 4 games, still happy; our job support; Boss Chati real power. Amp hot now. Question for Amp from Slawut Ten Suwan — dreams not yet done? Amateur dream Olympics — MMA national sport in Olympics; now every multi-sport internationally Asian Games next Asian Indoor then Olympics left — dream Olympics sure; not thinking quitting national team yet; pro dream big shows success — still up to seniors; when time right it comes; still ready to continue. Association view Olympics possible — leadership experience since 2004 Olympics team Tom Olympics learning with Seville — in that lineage; TAMA globally develops MMA worldwide; for Amp having association push MMA into multi-sport SEA Games Asian Games is already huge dream success; if further to Olympics Amp very glad; MMA once nearly no chance now far. Question why Amp not ONE yet — Amp wants to go but not green light — up to seniors; mainly want Amp more ready for ONE while national team Asian Games path — don’t burn out; after Asian Games end year Asian Indoor; amateur vs pro debate — pro one day one match vs tournament three days weigh every day — amateur harder; Olympic boxing examples Mayweather etc. Question feeling beating Coach Roma then — Coach Kew prefers Amp answer; long ago everyone happy with own win; today good coach friends; respect Coach Roma lots — he helped training, beautiful separate paths, congratulate each other; Roma helped national team at China qualify early year, UFC camp experience, cared women athletes weight check, Amp rolled with Roma grappling teaching no ego — helped quota Asian Games. What got Amp into MMA — loves combat sports; MMA loved but no MMA gyms then so Muay Thai and jujitsu; today many MMA opportunities chose return; liked hard sports grappling; MMA rare then mostly BJJ first. Bin Yu didn’t know Roma coached — proud both; Coach Kew didn’t want to stir old fight story — Thai understand; message from Ajarn Pitchit Muang Na Pho — fighters fight full skill, friendship after — heart of fighter; Ajarn Pitchit psychology master helped Amp mental hugely; Amp tells Coach Kew not afraid any country for skill but afraid own emotions before fight — scary always; calm. James Horne ONE CEO congrats — one of our concerts. Hardest opponent? Amp — MMA uncertainty; opponents not the problem, Amp herself — not listening coach, emotions — losses from self; wins sometimes opponent mistake or plan and control; hardest is Amp; current Amp vs past Amp who wins — matured, listened more, Japan often, famous there doctors cornermen know Amp; Japanese fans couple Thai woman Japanese man watch show woman cheered last night; bought tickets — happy Japanese fans didn’t forget when Amp lost often in Japan; warm welcome; Japan respect fighters spirit; rarely boo. Next competition — Asian Indoor soon; guest Bin Yu again; Nicodemus msg congrats — coached Amp worlds Brazil national level not ordinary. Amp still smiling dreaming — expected because trained prepared since knew Asian Games but when real still dreamy worth all effort; thanks supporters; support MMA sport; cheer athletes still in multi-sport; cheer Amp Mixed Martial Arts lunge when ONE Championship — association good example for kids not just athletes — comeback stronger; Coach Kew thanks trust follow plan to today keep going long road; want many Amps example — before Amp was bullied ate vomit can’t go back; master class meeting request; James King msg Amp amazing teach? consider; meeting; thanks association president Isorn and all Thai supporters expanding Amp family; win good for Amp association and new Thai MMA generation national or pro — world sees Thai quality youth resources — Thai not lose to any nation if determined.
