Post-fight interview with Cristiano Oliveira after a first-round knockout at Cage Warriors 210 in Dublin, recorded as about 39 seconds on the clock. He says he entered carrying pressure from his previous Cage Warriors loss and viewed Irish prospect Alex as the favorite narrative, expecting wrestling and a jab-then-shot entry. Oliveira describes preparing power striking and counter work because Alex is taller, noticing Alex walking forward without respecting him, and capitalizing when Alex closed short on double jabs. He did not expect a first-round finish despite widespread talk that Alex would finish early; slowing the fight was part of his plan, but the stoppage came quickly. He expresses gratitude for fighting in Dublin for the first time and states he wants to remain on Cage Warriors cards and accept whichever opponent is offered next. The piece closes with brief celebration plans.

[music] All right. Uh, Mr. Alivera, first of all, congratulations. Um, just give me a walk through. This is a very short fight, 39 seconds. Um, like what were you thinking, you know, kind of walking into this because clearly like, uh, I think you were a bit of the underdog coming into this. Like what what were you thinking in your head? Uh, you know, as soon as that bell, uh, to be honest, rang. I I came from my lost. So my last performance at key wars had a [snorts] we always we learn more with the losses. So I came with a big huge pressure for this fight. I know that Alex was a prospect from Ireland and he came from he has a good uh performance already on his career. He's starting now. But I know that he will try to wrestle me to take me down deep under water, take my gas out and take my striking. But I was ready on power with throwing power. I was ready to throw big shots on it and so happy that this happened. I think 31 seconds or 20 something was so fast I couldn't even watch it. But man was a dream that we won come here first round and a big up got on him. So very happy. I work I'm working so hard in this. So I'm very happy today. >> I [laughter] bet I hope you are. Surprise, surprise. >> You You're talking about putting like real power behind those shots there. I think uh in the last like three or four seconds, I think he landed about three or four clean shots to the head before he finally went out or at least before his the rest of his body caught up to all those shots. Like is that those types of combinations something you practice on a regular or like >> No, to be honest, he's taller than me. So, I was working on the counters. So I was getting out waiting for him to throw the first because I saw him that he attacks always throwing the jab then he shoots down to the to take you down but he was coming shorting distance with the jab jab. So I just went down and I feel the the the pick up. >> Did you see kind of that opening early on or did it did the window just open for you? You just open because I thought I saw that he was not respecting me. He was walking forward all the time and I was and he was walking forward. I said, "I'm going to hit him [clears throat] >> and it happens." So, >> did you expect to kind of land those punches and knock him out cold like that? Like, was that >> man? To be honest, I I didn't expect that was that the fight will finish in the first round. I feel a lot of pressure because everyone was saying, "Oh, he's going to finish on the first round." I saw this. Everyone was talking about this. He's he was coming for the first round. But this one part of my strategy I will hold the the I will put it slow the fight >> but >> it's a good strategy. It see definitely seem to have paid off for it. >> Yeah. >> Uh so like like what's next? Is there someone you want to fight next is like what's who >> I just want to be in the promotion. I just want to be fighting a key warriors for me. I'm very happy to be here. I'm living a dream also fighting in Dublin for me the first time here. Um, I just want to continue here and the name who comes next, I'm happy to I'm going to work hard to be here again and give a good performance. >> Right on. Oh yeah, brother. All right. Look, uh, just give me just tell me one thing. How you going to celebrate tonight? >> Oh, man. Uh, I need some advice. We're going to we're going out. [laughter] >> We're going out. >> Awesome. Look, >> let me know. Nice spot tonight, guys. >> Right on. Look, I'm happy to hear that. Congratulations again and I hope to see you fight again soon. I reckon someone [music] [music]
