[Applause] All right, everyone. >> Welcome. We're here at Akuma Fighting Championship. Um, and I have here Mr. Brandon Shield. So, first of all, congratulations. >> Thank you very much. >> Um, I Well, firstly, I want to compliment you on your your shorts there. I love the black and gold. Gold's like one of my favorite uhh colors in general. So, anyway, yeah, like those are awesome. Do do you wear does have like a special meaning to you or >> Yeah. So basically uh my dad my dad passed away when I was only 3 years of old. He uh he committed suicide and his nickname was Shieldza. >> I adopted the name Shieldza. I'm >> turning it into now. Now I'm hearing the amateur scene. It's now the shield show and we're ready to rock. We're ready to take any man on. I got these shorts custom made from boxer world. >> They're a bit expensive but they are worth every penny. >> Right on. You look great and you you uh you're wearing well there. Okay. So, first of all, like I said, congratulations on your win here. Um you looked like you you looked very comfortable in there. >> Yeah. Second nature to me. You know, I'm doing this [ __ ] [ __ ] 16 years. I'm 19 now. It won't be long until I go into the pro scene and I start making waves. The next five years you're going to see me competing in the big leagues, PFL, one championship, UFC, all of it. I only plan to be amateur for the next two years and then I'm going professional. Oh yeah. Okay. So, you were you looked very comfortable on your feet. Um is that is that that's normally is that normally kind of where you train? Do you prefer to be on your feet? >> I I'm comfortable everywhere to be honest with you. >> Grapple on me whole life. Striker me whole life. My mother and my grandfather both black belts and karate. So, I come from a striking background. I've trained jiu-jitsu nearly every day since I was 8 years of age. So, anywhere to fight goes uncomfortable. on the full point. >> Oh yeah. Um now there's an in there's a couple instances where you almost got a nice guillotine there. Um did you feel you have it or did he kind of slip out of it or did you let it go? Like what happened there? Yeah, I I felt a couple of times the Gill game was there and the ninja joke was there, but you know, hats off to Jack submissions and he defended it very well and he slipped his head out and then just a couple of times me arms got pock so it's like no was telling me right before the fight position over submission. So I just had to keep rethinking and just win the fight. Winning's all that matters. >> Right on. Now, uh, with your coaches here in your corner, like do you do you hear them actively when you're in the cage? And then like what do you do with the information they're trying to give you? I'm always all ears. You know, Dave Roach, he's the main man down at the gym. I listen to his words like the Bible. And this man over here, the best mate Ben McGovern, I love him to death. He's always in me corner since day one cuz every time we fought since we at that height, always in each other's corner. So big shout out to Ben and big shout out to N Ro for always being there for >> Right on. No. So speaking of your gym SPG, like what's it like training at that gym with so many highle competitors? >> Oh, it's great man to be honest with you. Like we have the likes Shyam Mull, Brad Katana, all the best bantamweights in the country. Then you have the Feder weights, Kenny Moahana, Mahome Wii, all the boys like they're all elite elite strikers, elite elite grapplers, fulltime mixed martial artists. We're all in there and we all over go Barney out the gym. Every man in there is there ready to do it? >> Absolutely. Now, um so in in the leadup to this, like how do how do you kind of stay like mentally in the zone, you know, like so like today like what kind of keeps you in the zone to keep you prepared uh in the leadup for your fight? >> My little brother Hunter, he's only uh he's only gone two and you know, he's heavily autistic. I just want to make sure that I can go professional and give him that dream life. Make sure he never has to go through any of the struggles that I had to go through. That little young fell and me niece Harley the two like I love them both to death and I'm going to make it for them. They're what pushed me and motivated me to be the man that I am today. I'm only 19 years young but I'm a veteran in this [ __ ] >> Right on. So you say going in in a couple years you want to go pro. Is there like a specific promotion you'd like to be pro on? >> You know like everyone's goal is the same. the UFC, the big leagues. But, you know, before that, I'd like to like to go into the PFL. >> All right. Right. >> I love the PFL. I love to stay in there. And I think even now at the level that I'm at, I think there's some panties on the PFL that I [ __ ] slaughter. Same as the flyweights, any of them. I feel like there's a good few of them now. Obviously, there's a lot of them there that right now they punch ahead me, but give me a couple of years and they won't touch me. >> Heck yeah. Is is there like a a particular area in your game that you want to work on just to like get perfect before you kind of get pro or I should say uh what's your criteria for yourself um before you make the decision to go pro? >> Get better everywhere, you know? Like I feel like I'm great everywhere, but I want to be the best everywhere before I go professional. I don't want to just be good. I don't want to just be great. I don't want to be a name that just fills up the slots. I want to be their name on the slots. I want to be the one that's main event. I want to be the one getting all them pay-per-view points, making that few quid from your family. >> Heck yeah. Now, uh do you have a particular opponent that you'd like to fight next? >> Um you know, uh there's a certain man. We fought each other in kickboxing. Aaron Tommy, you know who you are, brother. We had a great Barney last time. Now it's time we get in that cage in the Akuma fight cage and we handle this 6 oz glove. None of that 16 ounce [ __ ] And we're going to make it happen. We had some bad blood last time, but I can't wait to get it going again. And Derek Quigley, I want you on the next boxing event, you little [ __ ] I'm going to slap the head off you. And Jamie Cy as well. I love you, bro. You're a sound man, but me and you are going to get it on. Next wild card show, me and you are having it. Derek Quigley, you're a [ __ ] [ __ ] >> Right on, man. Everyone, you heard it here first. Okay. Look, uh, congratulations on your win there and I look forward to, uh, your next fight here. Okay. >> Thank you very much. >> Yes, sir. >> Thank you. >> Oh, yeah.
