Fansview MMA hosts a pre-fight face-off with Chaos main eventers Daniel Thompson and Adam Wallace (Tartan Blood) ahead of their pro MMA debuts. Wallace says he took the bout on short notice after an opponent pulled out, has not fought MMA in about five years, was previously amateur-only, and had been building visibility through TikTok and influencer boxing. He prefers hostile away crowds, plans to keep the fight standing because Thompson has a purple belt in jiu-jitsu, and expects a war rather than a quick finish. Thompson frames the bout as his home promotion show with family and friends in attendance, says he has been out of the cage for nearly ten years, and knew for months that original opponent Jamie would likely withdraw before Adam Wallace stepped in. Both dismiss old fight footage and Tapology records as unreliable after long layoffs. Thompson predicts a quick finish and elbows; Wallace says he will give everything. Despite pre-fight banter, both reject fake beef for social media, say they have no prior animosity, and agree to share a drink after the fight—though Wallace draws the line at Guinness. Thompson also describes ex-army service, a 2012 Afghanistan deployment, PTSD, and starting training after a coach offered free morning sessions, which helped him stop medication.

Kind: captions Language: en So, I have both halves of the main event for Chaos this weekend. We've got Mr. Daniel Thompson and Adam Wallace Tartan Blood, which I love the name by the way as well. So, we're just here. We're going to just have a little bit of a face to face if opponents can kind of feel each other out. Uh maybe try psych each other out beforehand. But yeah, thank you very much for both joining me both being involved in this. Um I'm going to go first to you, Tartan. Do do you mind tartan or do you want to be called Adam? No, >> I'm good mate. I'm good. whatever you want to call me. Man, >> how are you feeling? Obviously, you're going to be coming to Chaos. Uh, it's going to be kind of Daniel's home yard. How are you feeling about the whole situation? Coming over to Ireland and having a fight is a unique experience. How are you feeling about it? >> I'm good, man. I'm good. I'm used to it. I like traveling. I was down in Manchester, well, Leadeds a couple of weeks ago fighting. So, I'm used to traveling. I prefer it. I think I prefer the booze and the the fingers at the back of you and the wanker sign when you're walking out and I don't mind all that stuff. It makes me perform better, I think. >> And Daniel, do you think because this is obviously in your hometown, do you feel that there's going to be more pressure on you or do you feel any pressure or do you think there's going to be pressure on Adam to come and try and beat you in your own backyard? >> Nah, there's no pressure on me. Like pressure makes diamonds. Doesn't doesn't matter to me. Um, wherever it is, like the home crowd or away, it doesn't make a difference. You still have to get on there and get the job done no matter where you are. >> Yeah. Know and like that. Uh, have the two of you looked at each other? I'll go first to you, Adam. Uh, have have you looked at Daniel? Cuz it's obviously been a while since he's fought, so like any footage you'll get of him is probably going to be old and redundant. Or do you just like going into What were you to game plan? What were you game planning for this fight without getting the boys? No, the boys been off the scene for six, seven years. What's the point in me watching him six, seven years ago? There's going to be massive changes to his game. He's going to be completely different to back then. So if I was to watch that, I could go in with a a a different sense what is going to go on. You know, there's a reason why he's went for amateur to pro. You know, his record wasn't great at amateur. So there has to be a reason why he's done it. He's obviously not the same guy he used to be. So you know, record on the record on topology isn't correct. So you don't go off it. No, >> I don't go by that. I just go what I was told by a coaches. >> Yeah. So it it's just kind of like it's just you're going to go in like said if even you know both know if it's a early stages of pro or late amateur fighters can change within six months time. So there's there's no use. So are you both planning on going in and just doing what you want to do uh in the fight rather than focusing on what the other person's going to do? Well, what happens happens, mate. >> Adam's coming to go wild. Apparently, he goes wild, he's getting chinned. >> Simple as that. Start getting sloppy on there with me, you get picked off. >> If you say so, we'll see. We'll find out on Saturday. >> We'll see. >> Yeah. >> And uh w with the fight coming up, what way are you both looking for to be on the feet? Are you both going to swing it out? Or is it going to be a mixture? Because it is obviously MMA. Uh what way you approaching this? I want to stay on the feet. I obviously want to stay on the feet. We know the guy's got a blue belt in jiu-jitsu. That would be [ __ ] silly if I was even trying to take him to the ground. >> Purple >> purple. Yeah, he's got a belt. He's done jiu-jitsu. I'm not taking him lightly. We're not going to the ground anyway. But if I don't want to go to the ground, he obviously will want to try and take it to the ground, but we'll see what happens, man. We'll see what [ __ ] happens. >> And Adam, you talked about you love going away, you love traveling. What is it about the traveling and having going into someone else's backyard? Does that motivate you more? Like you said, the cheers, the the fingers, the booze, the the wanker signs or whatever it is for the misses and the kids for for a for a couple of nights. Gets me away for a couple of nights for the misses and the kids. So, you know, I'd rather I'd probably rather go in and get [ __ ] punched about then listen to this noise. >> Takes that away. And uh obviously uh you being >> the money the money that I'm getting for it helps as well. Christmas is coming up. Let's go. >> And obviously yeah like that you said you've got Christmas coming up when you first got the call uh uh to come to Chaos. What was your uh initial reaction? Uh did you take the fight straight away? Was there much thinking about it? Did you look into the promotion? Did you look into Daniel or was it just Yeah, no problem. No, >> I just took it. I just took it. They say I've had it a few weeks ago. They came to me. They said, "Look, guys, opponent's pulled out. Uh, would you be interested in making the return to the cage?" So, I was amateur obviously. I've never fought pro. No thought MMA in about 5 year. I've been looking to get back in MMA. I was like, "Fuck it. Let's go. Why not?" >> So, it's it's pro debuts for boat here. So, it's going to be it's it's it's a it's a historic night for you both. You're both going to be main event and you're both going to be going to be doing it. Uh, Daniel, for yourself, we spoke briefly as well. this obviously you said the the home crowd or whatever isn't going to matter but obviously chaos is kind of your your hometown kind of show like does that will that mean a lot to you actually just making a walk before you even get to the cage consider been so long since you fall >> of course like you're you're walking around in front of all your family and friends and everybody obviously they don't want to sometimes when you're fighting far away they don't want to travel so it's easier for them to make it to this one it's always good to be on your home show your club show you know [clears throat] >> yeah and especially for the the pro debut you as well cuz like that as your career goes on, chances are you're fighting at your home one as your career progresses gets less and less, you know, that sort of way. So, I think you should cherish the cherish the moments as well. But, uh, Taran, talk to us about yourself, kind of what you bring to the show, what you bring fighting style, like who are you? Let the people know who you are and what you're about. >> I'm a gobshit. I'm a mouthy [ __ ] I like causing noise. I like, you know, I'm 35y old. Uh, I feel like if you're too quiet in the game, you're not going to get these [ __ ] chances. If I was quiet, I wouldn't have got this shot. I wouldn't have got the call this weekend. So, I feel for the past year, I've been grafting online on Tik Tok. I've been making a bit of [ __ ] noise, been boxing on the influence I've seen, and I feel that's why I've got this shot. >> And with the with the Tik Tok, uh, because I I'm a big proponent now. Obviously, like you said, there's a lot of really good fighters that are quiet and they don't get the shine because of social media and stuff. Do do you think that's a huge part and it's something that fighters really need to adapt to? Whether it's them that actually do it or to get someone to manage their social media, do you think it's something that should be not on par with your training, but it needs to be kind of prioritized a lot now because of the way the scene has gone and the world. >> I feel like you need a bit of personality. You like you can't be boring. Nobody's going to be to watch you if you're [ __ ] boring. Like you could be the best fighter in the world. Why are they going to pay to come and watch you if you if you can't talk [ __ ] If you're just too quiet, it's not going to harm. I feel to grow your support. Although you at the back of that, you get a lot of hate as well. I got a severe amount of hate online. Severe amount of hate. It doesn't bother me. I feel like it it kind of helps. But yeah, with that being said, I feel like you need a personality in the game these days. Back in the day, it didn't really matter. But these days, social media is a lot. >> Yeah. you see other people get opportunities over fighters that you've probably seen in the in the UK seen I see in the Irish scene that some fighters who might be I don't want to say not as good but not as far on their careers will get bigger opportunities because of their social media following sponsorship stuff like that as well but you talked about the influence of boxing how has that gone I'd say that really fits to your style and personality because that's all a bit mental as well you seem a bit mental and I I'm loving what you're going to bring this weekend what's what's that scene Crazy, crazy, mate. Just full of people like myself that just talk [ __ ] constantly, you know? You don't know what to believe online. Like, it's it's just just it's wild. But it's completely different. That's what it's completely different like a boxing event compared to an MMA event. I prefer an MMA event. Like you go in, you've got that [ __ ] feeling. It's much more, you know, it's much more personal. Yeah, it's it's very uh I want to say it's like especially in the shows where everyone's up against the cage. It's just it's like a cauldron ready to explode and especially Yeah. Um I because I can imagine how you're going to come out and the way it's going to be for the main event. I say it's going to be explosive. But Daniel, how how are you treating uh Adam coming up to this? Like I said, it's his first MMA fight. He hasn't fought MMA in a long time. But like he also said about you, there's been so much time that obviously there's improvements and stuff that you wouldn't have seen. How are you approaching Adam yourself? >> Yeah, like obviously there's been loads of time for Adam as well, but he's concentrated more on the boxing side of things. Um, and we're fully aware of that, you know, not really like fair play to him as well for taking this fight. Like not not many people probably in his position would have took this fight, but having spotting MMA for a long time and I've just been concentrating on box and they come in there and make their pro debut like it takes guts to they take this match. >> Yeah, know it does. and and obviously like he's taken this fight on a couple of weeks notice, but you also lost your opponent on a couple of weeks notice. What was that like uh initially finding out that the opponent had dropped out, but then obviously Adam had kind of stepped up. Talk to us about the emotions there and and him stepping up to the play >> back. I kind of I kind of had an idea Jamie was going to pull in. I kind of we sort of knew a couple of months ago, you know, he was going to pull out of this match, but it just wasn't certain. Yeah. Just waiting to hear from him. Um Andy was kind of keeping options and some of the options then that we had fell through and then thankfully Adam was the one that stepped up and and said yes otherwise it just would have >> you found a brainless [ __ ] >> Well I I think it makes for an exciting matchup. I think like that it's two people who haven't fought MMA in a while. So that's why I think the matchup is is quite even. Do you know that sort of way rather than >> Yeah. 100% like I haven't fought I haven't fought in 10 years nearly nearly 10 years since the last time I was in the in the cage. >> Yeah. Yeah. Cuz it's 2014 then you had one after that and then you've been kind of gone but we've talked about with li what you're creating there and tartan because like you said you hadn't you hadn't fought in 5 years >> when the call came like we said there was no hesitation. Was your plan always to come back to MMA or has this just happened because of this uh this um opportunity you've got? >> Probably not. I probably would have stuck with the influencer boxing scene, but the call came. Man needs an opponent. So, man's right here ready to go. >> And with your obviously, we can see all your flags in the background. Obviously, we come from a similar ilk. Uh you've got so many different flags. Uh you seem like the the pure fighting type. What What kind of led you into fighting? >> Your flag right there, my man. Your flag right there. [laughter] Um, what kind of brought you into fighting as well? Uh, what was it that that led you down in the combat sports world? >> Mental health, I would say. Uh, I'm ex army. I was deployed to Afghanistan 2012. Uh, I've got really bad PTSD. Found myself on medication for a bit. It wasn't working. It was making me slack, sleepy. I went into a gym one day. the coach done to me. He says, "Look, if you come in here at 6:00 every morning, I will train you for nothing." So, I went I started training to there, took myself off medication. Ask me for myself harm. So, sorry to hear that you you went through that, but obviously uh combat sports has put you on the right path because I think medication should be one of the last options and obviously your medication now is combat sports. Um, >> but yeah, what what you both expecting this weekend? I'm expecting fireworks. Um, what's what are you expecting? We'll go with uh Daniel first. >> It's going to be an unreal night of fights. Like they're big card. There's 40 odd fights on it. But for my fight, I'm expecting a quick finish like that. That's how it's going to go. >> And your retors there titan. >> Didn't find it. >> Yeah. So is >> my question to you is if you're looking for a quick finish, why you took the fight? >> Why did I take the fight? >> Yeah. Why would you want to fight a easy fight in your professional MMA debut main event? Surely you would want to give the crowd a good fight. >> Nobody says it was going to be easy. >> You said it's going to be quick. >> We'll see. >> We will. >> I'm looking for a quick finish. So, we'll see. >> We'll see. >> And when you say finish, are you looking for on the feet or on the ground or >> I'm looking to wipe that mustache off his face with elbows? [laughter] I'll [ __ ] shave it Friday night and you're not going to be there. [laughter] >> Very good. >> Um, yeah. And and what are you expecting from the fight, Adam, yourself? What are you expecting to bring? Uh, and what are you expecting it to kind of be like? >> I'm expecting a war. I'm going to run a war. That's what I'm expecting. Going to run my all. Simple as that. >> Yeah. and like that that's all you can bring yourself 100% and that's all you can bring to it and then we'll see what happens on the night. I'm expecting it to be a bit of a wild fight. Not a wild fight, but a good, like you said, a good war. Is that Do you like the wars? Cuz obviously Daniel said he liked, not he's looking for a quick finish. Uh, but do you like a quick finish yourself or do you like being involved in wars? Is there something about a war that just kind of makes you tick? >> I think it being main event, I think that's probably the best outcome. Uh, doesn't really bother me. I don't mind getting punched. I like it. We'll find out. You can't afford to lose any more brain cells. >> I don't think I've got many left anyway to be fair. But >> whatever happens happens. >> You better. You should be glad of that because I wouldn't have took the fight otherwise. >> I don't know what to say here. It's got kind of tense and I don't know how to break this tension, but it's not been as wild as I thought it was going to be on here. I was expecting you to come out like an absolute mad man. [laughter] >> Guy, mate, with no beef. I've never spoke to him again before in my life. I don't see the point in that. What's the point? What's the point of disrespecting the man and then walking into his hometown? That would be [ __ ] silly. I don't want taking away in the backyard van, mate. >> No, I >> I'm too chill for that crack as well. >> Yeah. Know, it's I'm looking forward to it as well. And like that because like you said, because you don't really know each other, there's no previous beef. It's hard to kind of try and instigate that or try and do that because it'll come off as phony, as fake. And whereas the two of you here have been authentically ye and I think people gravitate towards that more. What would you think to yourself rather than kind of making something up just for the sake of of a fight >> the with social media? I mean, that's what they want. They want you to create a fake beef and it's silly. I don't agree with it. It's [ __ ] stupid and it ends up turning nasty >> in the end. But I'm not going to fake a beef with a guy. stupid. >> No, I'm much the same. Like there's the you can do all the talk that you want, but everything that happens in the cage speaks volumes and you go in a have a pint after. I guess that's what it's all about. >> Yeah, cuz cuz there's obviously going to be respect after. So obviously whatever the outcome, will the two of you boys have a drink after? Will that be obviously just going to be showing respect? Tartan, would you uh go for a drink with Daniel after the show? >> 100%. >> Yeah, of course. So where we all mean? >> No Guinness. >> No Guinness. What's wrong with Guinness? >> Never fairness. I don't even like Guinness. [laughter] >> I I'm the same. Everyone goes, "Oh, Guinness." And I was like, I'm not going to lie, Joe. And I' Polish friends and whatever. And they're like, "Oh, Guinness." And I was like, "You can have it." Cuz I'm not. I'll have your Polish vodka instead. Um I it wouldn't be one for me. But you're going to have a point regardless whatever it is. I'm really glad I got two on here today. I'm going to let you go, but is there anything either you want to say about this weekend? >> Tune in. >> That's fun. >> Good night. Fights. >> Perfect. Perfect. I'm going to be in the commentary group. So, I'm going to be able to see up close and personal. I can't wait to see I want to thank you both for coming on tonight. It's been an absolute pleasure and especially so close to the fight. So, I do really appreciate your time. So, yeah. Well, thank you very much and uh I will see you both this weekend. See you tomorrow. Take out. >> Perfect place.
