[Music] combat series. I'm here with our main event winner, Mr. Connor Wallace. Y um talk to me. Um how's it feel? You got a first a first round submission. Um what's going through your head right now? just relieved because I've worked so hard on my jiu-jitsu for the past few um for the past while because I know it's a very big reach spot of mine and to get a submission um I'm very very happy with so yeah um okay so is this or how many fights is this for you this is your this is my third amateur fight third amateur fight excellent um what is it like competing on an event like this tonight where it's all it's you know it's the the vast majority of all the fights are all like they're all novice fights and And you know, you're still an amateur, but you're kind of like the still the senior person on the card. What's that like? Yeah, it was really, really cool. It was It was different, definitely. And I really enjoyed it. But yeah, no, I really enjoyed it. It was just cool. Did you have anyone kind of coming up to you to ask you, you know, about your experience or like questions about u you know, just the like what to expect or um No, not really. No, no, not really. I kind of well from just finally I I just try to take my head just as just another fight like your objective is literally just to get the win. Yeah, that's my train of thought for this whole fight. Just no matter how try to get try your best to win. Very good. Talk to me about your your previous fights. How did they go? Previous fights I lost by submission in February. Um on cage gladiators I also took a loss as well. It was a second round TKO, but coming back and had a lot obviously a lot on my shoulder, so there was a lot of pressure going into this fight, but I just had to try to stay as calm as good. Very good. Um, so what does this mean for you for the future? What what do you kind of what are your plans? I want to stay as active as possible. I want to try to get at least another one before summer. Yeah. And see where that takes me. But just for now, you just try rank up the wins and just try to get better and better. Excellent. Learning every day. So there's there's so so much to learn. kind of like not even scratching the surface of what I'm capable of. There's so much to learn. Right on. So, you had said that you're you're coming off two losses here. What um like what what what's something kind of new or like what have you been working on specifically for this uh event? Um, I feel like a lot of my fights have I've lo I've lost a hand where this went to the ground and I just tried to work a lot on the ground through cross training through uh really really lock on down on jiu-jitsu and I'm nowhere near nowhere near where I want to be. Absolutely nowhere near it, but it was good to get submission tonight. Absolutely. Um, talk to me about like kind of like the leadup to this like the the week of like what what are you feeling? What what do you do kind of like the week before you fight to kind of help settle and calm yourself? Um it's just just focus on what's important like just making weight. Making weight is obviously a massive part of the game. Yeah. So that's usually the main thing in my mind but game plan as well and trying to actually stay calm just before the fight. Okay. I worked really really hard in that for this one because I usually do feel a lot of pressure but for this I felt great. I felt like um I was I was fine. I was able to go in there with a calm head and I knew what I had to do. So great, great. Um, so one of the one of the things I like to focus on a lot is like the kind of the mental health aspect of uh combat sports. Yeah. What is like what what's what's something that comet sports has given you that you're able to kind of uh apply outside in the real world to help you know with your mental health? Definitely joining the gym would definitely like bring out your shell. I think yeah bring you a shell a lot making more confidence and bring make more confident in yourself because you know you're able to like kind of stand up for yourself. Yeah. So that goes a long way but majority of it is the social part of it is great as well because you're talking to people every day. It's great like that's such a good sport to be in. Absolutely. And like these gyms really kind of turn into a like a second family, you know. It's a family away from your family. Yeah. Yeah. Um, what do you say to folks who like maybe are interested in kind of maybe they're interested in, you know, com sports, MMA, jiu-jitsu or whatever, but they're, you know, maybe not quite uh confident enough in themselves to step foot into gym yet. What What do you Well, everyone's been there. I like everyone goes through that. You just have to The biggest step, the hardest part is actually getting foot in the door and actually going. But yeah, once you're in there, once the first session is done, you'll made friends and it'll be great. It's hard like, but it is such a good sport. It's the best one in the world. Absolutely. I guess just where do you see so you want to fight again? Like where do you see yourself in the next couple years? Um I'm not not too sure. I what's my mind at the moment is just getting more amateur fights and seeing where text me. Okay. How good I can get. So that's that's all I have planned for now. But pro would be cool in a few years. Yeah. Just I'm not there yet. Right on. So, you know, just get more fight. [Music] Get more fighting. Love. Right on. Right on. All right. Look, on that note, I'm going to let you get back to your friends and family over there. I appreciate your time talking to me. Um, and congratulations. Enjoy it and I hope to talk to you again soon. confidential. Let's go. [Music]
