Fansview MMA interviews Alex Fagan during fight week ahead of a Chaos Fighting Championships amateur title rematch against Jordan, who is coming off a European title win. Fagan reflects on their first meeting, when Jordan took him down and controlled him, and argues both have matured since the more chaotic early-amateur stage. He describes frustration after strong results in K1, Muay Thai, and jiu-jitsu translated into inconsistent MMA performances, a three-fight losing skid, and a later three-fight winning run driven by a simpler mindset of going for the fight when plans break down. He breaks down his liver-knee finish against Paul, built around leg kicks, clinch body work, and reading when the shot landed. Fagan praises promoter Dey’s punctual matchmaking and loyalty at Chaos Fighting Championships, where he has fought repeatedly and wants a belt before turning pro. He plans two more amateur bouts after this weekend if healthy, then to explore pro options including Cage Warriors and LFL, while warning against rushing pro debuts against mismatched records. He outlines recent camp upgrades: first strength-and-conditioning coach Rory O’Connor, continued work with nutritionist Yanik, head coach Rody, and his brother on striking, while stepping down to lightweight for this bout.

[Music] okay so I have Mr Alex Fagan here again a pleasure to have him on again he's gone for another title he's gone for a title in a rematch in a rematch where he actually injured himself as well on the same show quite a long time ago it's fight week I really appreciate your time and you're joining me how are you feeling how you feeling fighting for this bels to pick up another title and how are you feeling to get this rematch back oh yeah no like I've always F majority I know you are and it's always I kind of wanted it like it's CU I fought so many times in the show I think we should at least definitely get a crack at it before um I ever move away from I definitely always wanted a crack at it um and to fight Jordan here Jordan's coming off the Europeans just won it high level oppland we both fought back in the day yeah I pop me in the fight bet me for in square he he took me down held me down done his job and I think both was have progressed so much since then that's just going to make a better fight yeah I think so too and and like you said obviously he took you down you your Rec most recent Victory as well re is would have been T same a strong wrestler take you down and we've seen how you dealt with that at cage Legacy as well but like I said how much different do you think this fight is going to be because you said because of the way it has progressed you both have progressed I think I think a will be a lot more competitive because I think about a lot more more composed in the case now things that we're not rushing things where we both know what we're doing we're both grasping that area of the towards the end of amateur mod at the start where kind is more chaotic and they doing Mad stuff you we in time um I think it'll just change the level and people are going to see like for me him getting the cage there's not many other amateurs who can step in with us and will sued like at all yeah no you you're both kind of up there as well and one of the things that has really kind of I've looked at with you and we've Su many times many times before your fights as well and there was one stage where I say you lost you won and then you went on the loss of tree and then you went on the win of tree so talk to me about what it was like when obviously we can see where you are now but how easy could it have been to get dered or deflated by that and how did you stick with the mindset to keep going because when you look at them we just talked before they've all aged really well those losses you know that sort of a way um and there's never any shame in losing but as a fight as a person I would assume if I went in and I lost stream row it might be quite easy to get this hand yeah no 100% because it was really annoying for me because mainly like obviously in K1 and toy boxing when I fought I I won all of them and it was annoying and even jits were done well and then the gym like stick anyone in front me and I'm going to I'm going to give you the topest night your life like and then when I went into the cage it wasn't gone it wasn't it just wasn't performed the way I should have been and like yeah the opponent are good but I just wasn't perform the way I wanted to perform and I know if I perform right I I beat them all like just how I know and then like obviously it was hardening when I got one back of aari and I kind of just went I just start going out and going for it straight away from the start like obviously I had Nikolai forced he started to run off and he was a wrestler then I eventually got a striker for like four time in ages then and have another wrestler now another wrestler again I'm really racking up all the wrestlers here before I before I have anyone else to run into but H yeah no I think the big thing was for me just that that switch in the mindset just going for it [ __ ] it if all else fails was fight um I done an interview not that long ago and that's what it's actually captioned I think if all else goes wrong just fight that's what I just do for last few fights yeah no and like that as well because obviously like you said with the K1 stuff you were killing it it's really it's obviously one of I think it's obviously just the way the fights have fallen that you've got wrestlers but that is the experience you want because there's different wrestlers there's different styles there's different aggressions as well so as a striker you want to feel that because you know you can go out and outperform anyone in a striking contest with your skill set anyways so I like the fact that you are fighting all these wrestlers and and you can iron out any kinks that you see uh in it but as well like that Paul the Paul for Sher fight obviously as well um like that was I remember when I was first watching that and like not to say that was same but I thought man this is GNA go like two or three rounds or like someone's gonna get knocked out but it's gonna be a lot that shot you hit like talk to us like was that planned like cuz you hit that and I was like is his reib gone he just it just took the win out yeah like obviously I came up from the F straight away Paul's always been hands heavy so like I'm just going to build the C off I can kick well I'm going just kind of chop the C off and then when we start getting into the exchange of the clinch I've always been good at hitting these to the body and always find that liver in me K fights I have a lot of liver finishes has me thing like hitting body shots is a big thing even in me fights I kind of hit them all the time hav put you away with them but crack people with them um and then when I had the knee on him I knew as soon as I had it I just felt a sink it's like hitting like a a bean bag that's what it's like can't deliver when it goes in right it just sinks in and you just know and then then obious made a little clip of the the Ry classic of Andrew saying then Ry hit the same because he's obviously the main man hit a knee to the body yeah no it was it was very nice and like that I I really L the Run Yar cuz even when I was talking to whether it be in an interview or just have just messaging back and forth which which I we do occasionally H you always just kept that confidence and I really really like that because like that a lot of people are quick to give up and and this is an example of just stick with it like that you said you change your mindset but that process is there for a reason and it is turning around and it's turned around in your favor like this another Bel this weekend against a really tough opponent but you talked about uh your Fighting Championship and you really wanted to crack at the Bel and what what makes you love that show so much because if you look at the people on that show it's always the returning kind of crew it's like the same cast all the time fighting other people and this isn't to say that there's anything bad about the shows but a lot of people just seem to gravitate towards Dei what is it for you uh that that that makes you love the show so much yeah no 100% like obviously I fought on it and and I've I know shows I fought on but of coach at basically every show in the country sure you seen me at all the shows always there I'm always cornering or I'm fighting or wherever and then whenever you go to Dei show everything just runs like a clock literally like a clock or you could text Dei a week ago and he go to tell me on a on that in that cage and it's probably won be spot on give or take five minutes but it's going to be pretty spot on like it's never you're never there overweight and you're never going on too early you're always it always runs Smo no one's going to start no one's going to finish and then her de just a spot on L isn't he like let's be real here like I I T Dey a bit things that and he's just spot on and like um so he's always been selling to me and he's always got me matched whenever I want to get matched or anything's ever any ever pulled down on me he's got me another match so I'll always stick loyal to people if they get me figh and they they do well with me and then I'll happily stay on them fight on their shows constantly yeah and I like that one thing I like about him as well I love Dei and he he's very straight up and he's very honest and and like that I think one of things that brings people back to the show as well is um he won't bring someone from outside in and to fight straight for a b if they haven't fought on the show before and he does he doesn't do like a ranking system but like that you're on a three fight win streak you deserve the shot very few people get a shot on his show coming off a loss it might happen but it might be someone who's performed on their show a lot and maybe just lost their last fight and then uh it comes up but do you think he like because people say oh and and not that it annoys me people go oh amateur BS don't mean much but for me I think it means something if it means something to the fighter and the promotion do you think with the way he runs it with like that people who run the show on winning records do you think that makes the belt more valuable or for you is it the same do not the belt mean that much to you does it mean that much as in accad war obviously like in the long run belt don't mean anything realistically unless the pro belt and know in a top oranization does realistically but as in a small goal of course it does because you want to set your goals like everyone's go well for me anyway Go Pro hopefully do well look your small goals in amateur is it's to win I little belts and obviously mean not now but especially like a show I fought on so many times you're just like of course you want to win it it's like going out and playing a football match and get to the finals every time not win the cup like of course you're going to want to win it even if you're not in the Premier League wi G man so I think I think it is a big thing is a small goal but a long-term goal yeah it means not sure Dei even says it himself yeah talked about de racked up LS and then when he ran Pro didn't go right from at the start and now obviously he's on cracking form right now but like um I think small goals yeah long term no yeah no I I like I do agree that I say like that because I actually literally just had an interview with someone and we were talking about do you know Conor McGregor's am record do you know Paul Hughes they were like no I see no one gives a [ __ ] about not that they don't give a [ __ ] but obviously at the time it's nice to have that goal and with that goal like at the stage you're at um there's very few people up around kind of like there's kind of there's a couple of people around kind of your level at the minute and I'd say there not going to be too much longer before you go pro um like you need to be fighting people that challeng it like that are going to challeng it and if you have that belt that's going to attract those kind of people to that belt do you think that's one of the benefits as well yeah 100% like I think everyone who's at the kind of top obviously everyone feels can be everyone 100% but everyone kind of knows where everyone kind of stands I think like there's a few lads who like train out but then you can fight a lad who's like I don't know four and six as an amateur like all that lad's training out of well and all did you say this yeah but that lad who's far and sick that lad who's train out cannot step in the cage with him CU it will not go the right way for him like some people look really good to start some people look bad if you went to the K on Clark's record by the time his amateur ended his record wasn't good if you Ste the lad in there who was four and0 against that lad who four and was going to get white brushed and it's not going to be a fun night like he's lost to people who are EX extremely good or these bet people are extremely good that's why I want to see my amate record end like all right I could end with a negative one I can end with a positive but at least know that I fought the best wrestlers the best strikers that can f people have good attributes of green super strong maybe not as technical as Jordan is a grappling but super strong then you have people are awkward like Nicolo all top wrestlers but awkward strong you have Paul who's just all right might not have to Grapple then but it's completely doly he's down for a fight whenever you want to he happily give it to you like especially on the feet like de exact same thing again Jake Gilpin good knock so we seeing him sleep people and good the feet like you need to fight all these people who are hard and challenging in the wrong way to progress you as a fighter but when you go pro then you shouldn't be hitting anything with too as moroy is not the St yeah no no and I know he said I Lally because I actually mentioned K Clark and the person I just interviewed about half an hour ago said they he went 13 and 10 and I use an example all the time he probably hates me for it but I'm like look at him now he's eight and0 like because he fought IMF Champions he fought people that are like eight nine 10 and0 now in their professional careers themselves and like you said I like what you said there as well because people say oh I want to fight I need to fight all these different type of wrestlers and this and that but you were able to give up off different things like a strong wrestler an awkward wrestler a technical wrestler because you want to have all these positions put in before you go pro um and and like that obviously you're not going to be looking past the fight this weekend but um what's what's your your your your year looking like you looking to have a a certain amount of fights is there any talk of going pro at any stage or is that just going to be when it happens um I've had one this year obviously and I fought R and now I have Jordan as me second which are two good opponents I'm looking definitely to have two more um once all fight so well no injuries no no and then I look to see at the pro end of things see what see what shows are coming about I have have a few fews who I know um definitely a few shows and then SVG that I love back on SBG Lads back on um K and things that and they're definitely back at the end of the year and all that but then we have a good connection with lfl as well over yeah in um amam and things of that and there's a few shows around that definitely be intered but I'll get chamra fights fight a few more good people um and then hopefully rack up the wins no injuries then I'll look un forwardable I get is force anyway yeah no 100% I like that lfl is a good one OB T lock just signed there because you get a three fight contract because like you see on the regional shows when you're trying to book fight Georgie gr's fight fell out on the day last week for cage Legacy whereas if it's on lfl you're sign you're signed you're locked in the opponent has to face it you know it's not like they're just coming over for a scrap they're fighting for a place you're fighting for your place towards the title and like I said cage Wars I think is such a welcome news thatg are back on it because the show is better with SVG what I like about cage Warriors is there was eight different gyms on you know the sort way it gives variety now you've got SBG back in the mix it's a there's a lot of options when you go pro but obviously that decision will be made obviously once you see these next to amate fights out and and when you feel ready to go yeah 100% like I think I think the big thing were people uh on the look and to Go Pro like yeah you can go pro young there's people who have gone pro young like um Tomy head or not like obviously Max did or like some went pro really d d norcas like he went pro really young yeah 19 I want to say 19 or something had six amate fights but and I think went five and one I think he's only lost in the home and the home's a very experienced amate but he's doing but look what Dom's doing he's doing the right way same way Max is and things are young they're not jumping on huge promotions like Max is St Regional I know if he's on kjc like yeah they're in England so that Regional there's not no doubt in my mind if Max goes I want to go fight octagon tomorrow octagon won't take him yeah I want to go fighting CAD they won't take him or something like that he has a good F he does everything right you know what I mean same with dom over in Germany don't jump on Kia you're dead right stay in Germany have a few more fights get a bit more experience then hit cage war and show everyone on cage what you're doing right that's the way I see Pro you see amateur you fight people who at your level at start then you try to take a step up for some a bit better that goes well but then you're at that level if it doesn't well knock back down get Notch off and step it back up and setep back up until you you're at the Pinnacle there's no one else really to fight or all high competitive level then go on the pro start all again risky fights but that's what makes you a better fight with a start make sure you're picking your right fights pick people who are like making debuts or one and0 two and0 don't go and jump in and go ah yeah this lad is seven and two but I think I can beat him because if you do beat him for a play you're only going to fight lad to like seven and two eight and one six and one there's no going back yeah on you do you're stuck and and then if you do go back they're going to you start getting criticized as well and yeah I think Prof profession you need to mind your career and that's not saying cuz I don't want people to confuse that with pattern records because that's completely different but you it needs to be a good even fight two Lads like debuts similar skill levels a 5050 fight where you can win or he can win depends who imposes their technique skill and will and then wants it most and then and do that because like said I say people have come in for Max already that I say octagon want I heard they've wanted him cage Warriors probably want him already but take your time and build it properly because it's your career at the end of the day and they care about ratings money this only you and your coach give a [ __ ] about your careers you know that sort of way so you have to mind it oh yeah 100% like I've like I've made loads of changes now as an amateur coming to the end like I only bring on a strength condition coach to start this camp like I've done all of me haven't had a strength condition coach never lifted weights just I didn't like them so I didn't deal with them now I still not really lik them but I deal with like um I bring on a fell called Rory o Conor who helps me he um he's over in Scotland but he has a he's very good H who helps with me um I did obviously originally get on John Conor and things of that because obviously thei are obviously all well known and stuff I've talked to a few of them about things but Rory's the one I'm with and I've seen a lot of progress with him so it's it's been great like I've made a lot of progress I feel a lot better physically look a lot better I think this is probably the best you're going to definitely see me look stepping in the cas even though I'm stepping down to L way and I haven't in a while I think this is definitely better on a see look and then obviously I always have Yan I always have Yanik yeah Yanik there Yan's been there for all the last three fights I mean since I've wi Yan's there for all and I think he has play a big factor in the fights and help me win like the nutrition's so much better now like I've never gone in like I even start like gone and [ __ ] sh in and doing stupid sh like I'm ahead so now I'm just going to have like a big cheat me wa ahead of where I wanted to be where we yeah it's not like that still everything already your ahead we might be able to give you a refa or so we are still going to stay on track and we get get ahead we get ahead better like less a way cut at the end but everything's running smooth like I like I feel good right now and it I still have a bit to go for lightweight but I feel good like they they're two people are brought in now obviously with me team and they're kind of the people stuck by me and I always kind of make sure that I'm running well with me obviously me MMA coaches and like Rody as me head coach and then obviously my big brother as me strike coach basing me full-time padman at this R but yeah no it's it's a good team and I I actually think this is going to be scary now that you've got a stren strength and condition coaching what what what are you going to look like coming into this fight and that's really intriguing to me and and I like what you've done you set up all these different steps and you haven't done it all in one goal you've done it in different increments like you you only brought in the strength condition now you brought yanin a while ago and you're doing these different things one-onone right Ren trying to overhaul or do more things at once and it's just building blocks to your success and um you're someone I always enjoy talk to I always enjoy watch fighting as well H so I'm going to thank you so much uh for joining me I'm Gonna Let You Go is there anything you want to say before you go or anyone you want to shout out and I really appreciate your time today um I just want to show all the lads in the gym um he all know who he's are all main training partners and things of that um my big brother um my man that always help me to the camp me um my beautiful girlfriend who helps me a lot through the camp and helps me get through a lot of things and when I'm not in the [ __ ] M are putting up with me um and then the lads who have helped me out there's a few local Lads in the year who have small business who have helped me out and then um people in the jam who helped me out for money and stuff obviously because it's hard to deal everything and yeah there all the people who support me sure and me obviously the new Lads of obviously Ro coming on and then I was grateful for Ry and Yan Pros being there yeah no it's it's going to be a cracking fight I can't wait to see this fight like said you both have come on so much since that fight I I think it's it's a very int intriguing fight potentially fighter ton night as well so I can't wait to see that I will be up at your Fighting Championship I'm gonna be going back to shows Again full time now I went to Cas conflict so I'm back back 100% so I can't wait to see in person and see if fight it's going to be an absolute pleasure as it has been talking to you today 100% there's
