Fansview MMA host Dave interviews Andreeas Binder during fight week ahead of his PFL debut at 3Arena in Dublin—the first PFL event in the city. Binder says it has been nearly five years since he last fought in Ireland and describes the booking as long overdue, crediting PFL’s fighter-focused promotion, European-to-global pathway, and Dan Hardy’s matchmaking role. He discusses Ireland’s booming amateur scene, PFL ties to Clan Wars and Cage Legacy Fighting Championship Fighting Championship, and his 8-2-1 record with six finishes, including losses to Chris Stringer and Valencia (whom he says weighed two kilos heavy while Binder fought with a broken hand). He recounts knocking out UK/European name Aiden Lee, moving to Navan about two and a half years ago, cutting to lightweight with nutritionist Yanik onboard about eight weeks ago, and balancing work, partner Orna, and daily training through strict weekly planning. Binder explains how two SBG camps matched him against an experienced but unnamed SBG opponent with no bad blood between coaches John and Rowdy, expects a finish but will accept any win, and says he is bringing roughly three to four hundred supporters while closing out the year before Christmas.

okay so I'm here with Mr Andrea has been there it'll be his first time fighting in the Republic for a long long time something I know I've been waiting for his family's been waiting for he's been waiting for um and what an organization to do it on pfl they've really given it push so we're going to get into it now anyways thank you very much for joining me how does it feel to be fighting in one to threee Arena been a to you you you bring your support across countries so how good is it for them to be able to have this night with you as well in the tree Arena um first of all thanks Dave for having me back on it's been a long long time and uh yeah it's just it's just surreal man it's been a long long time coming I believe it's nearly like five years now that I haven't fought in Ireland and um I always have a good support anywhere I fought but it's just so nice to kind of get more more people coming up and see me live with you know my family and friends come and see me live in a tree Arena one of the biggest um biggest Arenas in Ireland so it's just it's just going to be amazing night you know and I'm really looking forward to showcast my skill on it yeah and like that um myself likes myself and Raz and a couple of other media members have been calling for you to be on a big promotion like this for a long long time and and that's not being disrespectful to on you've been on because they've been very good here you've w titles you've got to Showcase your skills there but what made you go to pfl obviously now we see the merger with Bellator which is going to make it absolutely massive uh roster what what was the what hooked you with BF it was only a matter of time until a big promotion picked me up and like I said I was never in a rush because I'm still young in this game I'm um I was just building my experience I fought the best guys out there I haven't taken a single fight an easy fight and I always took the best out there so it was only a matter of time and I saw the opportunity with pfl because they look at you as a fighters fighter not any anybody else really and it's just like they build you up the person you are in other words you know the way they're doing like the little mini documentaries about you the they're balancing the way you're training your work life your family life and they're putting all that into account and then when I found out that Dan Hardy was in charge of the matchmaking and seen as an MMA Pioneer and he's been there he's done that and it just made my decision so much easier so I just looked at it and I think it's the fourth show in in Europe with pfl now and the way they're expanding and I like the fact that if if you if you win the European series you can go into the global Series so it's just I put two and two together and I was like you know what this is the best decision for me and for my team yeah yeah and it is it was a fantastic decision now the merger with Bellator makes it all more interesting what way the roster is going to work um but with that you said Dan Hardy I probably think he's one of the best people to break down fights although he got strick and adna very wrong as did we all um but he's like no one's seen that going but usually like the way he breaks down fights before it the way he breaks it down after it um like I said he's a pioneer of the sport he was with the UFC for how long he was on so many levels there one of the things that I like like I said they're building up the fires when you looked at like said John Mitchell France uh Dylan when they were obviously in the Europeans did you see how they were pushing them as Fighters uh because that really caught my eye is how they they really especially on the Irish and especially with Nate and Kelly now as well being Main Event really really hot on the Irish talent they've merged with Clan Wars which is a promotion that you fought on many times and held titles on the first one to win amateur and pro on I believe um yeah mer with cage Legacy um how how exciting is it in this period to be with pfl because of all these it's it's amazing like the the fact that they're working so much with Irish MMA Talent not just Pros but amateurs as well and the way they're building them up and just a perfect example like the way they have young Nate Kelly on as an amateur fighter they're doing that with B Jo Ali over in in the US so they're looking at the Irish Market you know like we like you look at the talent that amateur I said it time and time again the talent at amateur of Irish MMA could take out early Pros in in different countries and stuff because it's such a high level and to get the recognition of that and kind of building off that is just something else and it's it's good for the country and it's good for the MMA community in Ireland you know and yeah of course the way that like you know cage Legacy got involved now for like uh emerging Talent of amateurs or early pros and this way clown wars and I'm pretty sure there's going to be other promotions out there in irand like you you look at I are you look at C conflict there's a lot of other promotions out there that are putting on fantastic amateur cards and pro pro cards and they could be picked up like that as well you know so you just it's it's just great to get that that in this market at this time you know because you're like the MMA scene in Ireland is booming yeah it's it's a hot bed right now like that obviously young Max L made Pro debut Gary Rooney two top prospects Conor mcarty another one of your teammates is going to be going pro early next year it looks like it's just Paul Bley just went pro the weekend it's abolutely wasn't um but back to you obviously you're eight and two and one I was looking at your record I've watched most of your fights nearly all your fights and one thing I was looking at just to see kind of what was the only two you've got six finishes on there whether it be submission or KO the only two you didn't finish one was Chris Stringer who had about 40 fights right but you you you batter like it was a that was an absolutely fantastic fight and then the other one was Valencia who I believe weighed in about two pounds overweight or two kilos overweight something like that um yeah he weighed in two kilos overweight but the a lot of people didn't know but I broke my hand in the first round so I was trying to hide away from the referee so I was just Bing them with one hand you know uh they didn't want to show it but look I took the win yeah so when you come to this fight are you looking for a finish on this stage or do you just because the fight game can go anyway in the moment you're just going to go in and take it as it comes I always look for a finish like like Paul always says Jesus loves Knockouts and you look at my finishes you're all brutal Knockouts but uh look I'm going in there to get my hand raised whatever it is if it's a knockout submission decision I don't care I'm going in there giving in my all and I'm sure he's the same so yeah it's it's going to be a beautiful fight I just know it and talking about your opponent obviously he's he's a very well-rounded fighter he's a very good fighter and he's a fighter we all know one of the things I'm curious about was obviously it's two SBG gyms you see it happen a lot of amateur not so much a pro um how did this fight come about and obviously as Fighters you immediately go yes yes and I'm sure Rody and John both seeing this as an opportunity for whoever wins this will get a bit more momentum is that the way they're looking at because not that it's a conflict of interest but surely two I would have thought that two sbgs wouldn't go to go against each other at Pro but here we are yeah you see with the way Bellator are like start merging with pfl you know like what what's going to happen to the Bel toour fighters from SBG that happen you know like that have been on that show so obviously the lad is trying to stay active um they're trying to get onto big promotions and they have uh the first thing was like uh between John John and ow was no bad blood he was like look I have to get my guys fights Andre needs fights as well so at the end of the day business is business like I don't give a I don't give a who's in front of me I'm going in there to get my job to to get my hand raised and I'm sure he's the same obviously he's very experienced but like every my last three four fights everyone has been more experienced than me if not every single person that I F has been more experienced but like that doesn't really change is the fact that it's not all about experience sometimes talent and heart beats experience so I look whatever it is like I'll be ready for anything I'm confident in what I can do I'm confident in myself in my team and I'll put on a hell of a fight and a hell of a show yeah and like that you're on a bit of a role now as well you're on a bit of a win streak talk to talk to us what it was like Oly Aiden Lee massive massive name in the UK massive name on the European scene and when you hit like you I was watching that live and when when you just hit him and he went down like what how did you feel after that fight beating someone like that in this fashion that you did it was I didn't really kind of feel anything at the start i' say after I knocked him out I didn't feel anything because obviously adrenaline was high and all that he was like even leading up to it the week the week to the fight and Stu like he was very respectful and I was the same because obviously I respect him as a fighter and I do towards everyone uh but I only I only started kind of kicking in the following day like so after the fight after I kind of got to celebrate my family and friends and um I started kicking in afterwards be like Jesus I just knocked out like a very hot Prospect in Europe uh he he challenged for like you know C Warriors titles he was on Bellator he's like I don't think he's ever been knocked out and I was like this is just surreal like you know but I know how much much I train lead up to fights I know the graph they put in and I'm not like you know I'm not dissing them or anything but I know how hard I work leading up to fights and I'm sure every fighter does that but the work I put in trying to balance everything else around just training um speaks for itself and I speak for for for myself going inside that cage you know yeah and your performances have proved it and like they said you balance a lot of things you've got obviously you've got a partner you've got an actual job as well and then you've got this and then trying to fit it all in how do you manage that especially at a pro fighter at this level and doing so good that you are that you're able to to perform as well as you are in training and in the gym and get this all done with all that going on around you does it take uh structure and discipline it's it's everything it's everything about discipline and structure you know but like that's the thing I plan ahead I always plan the Sunday for the rest of the week so on Sunday I'd be like right I have my diary I'm doing my uh this the the shift and doing them work this is the training sessions I need to attend and I need to do um that's my meal plans and I'm looking off that I have Orna that kind of helps me with my meal plans I have such a good team around me as well like especially with work as well I'm doing just mornings so i' be I'll be up at 5: in the morning I'll be in work for like say qu to 6 and I'll be there till about half two i' come home my meal will be ready I go for a nap and then I'm in training so I'm training every day Monday to Saturday like so then Sunday I can actually spend some time together with our and just relax and just kind of wind down for another busy week going ahead you know so yeah it's it's all about structure really and it's all about how you manage your schedule and how you manage your time with with everything around like you know it's it it plays a bigger kind of a bigger Factor going forward in the week and will you always this structured going into your fight camps and stuff like this for is this something that grew on you over time that you realized you needed to do to be able to perform at the level you perform at uh no I was to be honest I was the most disorganized wanker going around like but uh since I moved up since I moved up to naven there about two and a half years ago I kind of kind of pul my head down uh just looked after after myself and her and be like right there's no distractions because I have no one up here I have no distractions I have no friends up here so all I know is work train work train home every single day and then obviously when I after my fights I can go back to goal I can actually spend some time with the friends and family they come over you know what I mean so like we have a bit of free time then but like when I'm in Camp not that I want to sound selfish but and focus solely just on training and just just me and her and that's it you know yeah and but you have to be because I've talked to a lot of Fighters and one of the traits you have to be as selfish because if you're not going to put yourself first in you you're giving your life to this you're giving potentially your health to this you're giving a lot of things to this you've given up a lot that a lot of people can do on a daily basis whether it be food going out for friends you've given up a lot of this so to focus it all on yourself isn't selfish it was is what you should do because it's not a long career it's not going to span into your 40s and 50s so you're doing the exact right thing you moved down to lightweight obviously yeah how are you feeling there now obviously you've brought on Yanik we've seen um yeah how how have you found the weight cut like how are you feeling right now you're you're going into fight week and and what what's the weight like yeah look the weight is fantastic like uh I got yanan board there about I believe about eight weeks ago and he's just been unbelievable willos like you know and dropping down to lightweight obviously I had the a trial cup before before I fought Aiden Lee to to make sure I'm you know I'm healthy and it doesn't affect my my health going down to lightweight but it was obviously the first weight cut is always going to be the hardest a liveweight and I managed to do that with ease well not so much with ease but I managed to do it like and I felt great I recovered very well and now I this is my second time fing Highway and I find this is I'm just 10 times bigger I am leaner I'm fitter I'm stronger and this is going to be another easy cut and I have a feeling it's just gonna be just some so so much easier like and like that what in the last one for the a Le one did you feel your power obviously you had massive power at welterweight that power when you reduce down the weight that's still translated over obviously we seeing that it happened how did it feel for you did you still move the same did you move quicker did you feel more powerful how did you feel the first time you actually you cut down yeah so that was my biggest fear really like I always thought oh because I'm dropping down like you know like w toate the lightweight that seven kilo drop like so in my own head I was like oh what if I lose the power now or this like you you're always going to have doubt when you're dropping down to a new division or if you're going up to a new division you know what I mean but I managed to keep the same power but I managed to build the speed around as well so like I found I was more flu on my feet I wasn't kind of like stuck in the mud I was just more explosive um I was more aware and I definitely kept my power like and I felt it straight away like even even like say four five six weeks out my fight the way I I do my strength and conditioning program it's four weeks blocks so I'm like how am I lifting the same weights when I'm like five six kilos lighter or how am I like lifting 10 10 to 20 kilos heavier even though I'm like 5 six kilos like you know what I mean so I was like okay I'm getting stronger but I'm losing weight which is weird but um yeah once once I get inside that cage I was back over to where I needed to be and I felt fresh like going into the fourth round I was like man I I remember sitting down to R I was like what round is this he was like this is the four round address you're going into the four round I was like I'm so fresh feel amazing like I felt like this was just a start of the fight like I wasn't tired I wasn't anything so I was like I feel great so yeah this I I just find I'm 10 times fair now for this fight going in so it's going to be with everything you just said there looks like it's going to be a very very interesting fight I think it's very intriguing and when they brought it onto the card as well it felt like not that the card needed a boost but when your name went on it a lot of people went it's about time how did that make you feel when the likes of let's say I think Andy hickey Andy Stevenson myself Raz um the boys that energized we all said he should be here did you feel Vindicated when you got on that card that you should have been there a long time ago you know a lot of people said it to me oh you should have been signed to a bigger promotion early and early but like the thing is I'm not a type of person to trash talk I'm not a type of person to be chasing they know who I am they always knew who I was after my last three performances but I do my talking in the cage and obviously I didn't have a big following behind me and stuff like that on Instagram or like social media I'm not a vocal person so I always done my talking in the cage and I took the hardest fights so that opened a lot of doors and I said it like I was like once I knock out Aiden Lee this going to open up a lot of doors for me and so it has so it's it's it was about time that that I kind of like got on a big promotion and I can showcast my Talent onto a world stage platform in front of you know thousands of people and it's it's about time I got bumped up the card as well because I remember I was like the turd F on the on the card and now I'm like seven to eight and I'm bringing over three 400 people up there so it's going to be absolutely sick yeah no it is I'm actually going to be there as well I got tickets I can't wait to see the fight um I want to thank you so much for your time is there anything you want to say actually or anything you want to talk about before you go uh what can I say guys look this is going to be like pfl is this the first time in Dublin it's going to be an absolute epic night and we're going to end the year on a high again and I can actually enjoy Christmas so I want to thank like what all my fans my family my friends my sponsors my training partners and I'm ready to put on the show so hope to see you all there and yeah I'm excited man that's all I can say really like this is fight week you know what I mean I'm I'm here smiling on fight week knowing that I get to P someone's head in on Friday so yeah I'm excited that that's all really like I'm in good form so looking forward to it so my a happy fighter is a dangerous fighter exactly and that tree arena is gonna be absolutely buzzing I can't wait I want to thank you so much for your time and I will see you well obviously won't be talking to you after it because you're going to be up to during and after but I'll be talking to you early next week uh once everything's calmed down so thank you again and I will talk to you soon thank you so much man thank
