[Music] [Applause] all right everyone uh we are at I Fighting Championship 13 up in newy and I have here Mr coach onr pleasure thank you first of all I appreciate your time you got a lot of got a lot of Fighters on today we've got six fighters on today yeah so busy enough yeah so lots of lots of young kids come on trail and then some experienced amateurs as well so um yeah o awards are fantastic shows happy to have some so just speaking of uh you know kind of uh new Fighters getting into like like how important is it to have events like this in Ireland oh war is one of the best events uh in Ireland runs regular shows very um very well Ru you know very evenly matched which is one of uh one of the most important parts uh one of the most important um things when you're a young amateur you want to you want to have competitive fights um where you know you can win but you could also potentially it's a challenge challeng exactly it's not gim but it's at amateur at amateur you need to experience everything uh before you go to Pro so or you are we we we've been working with them for many years now and we really uh really love uh putting a good group on on each card yeah absolutely like uh this the last event was my first time up here and it was great um and Dey is able to put together these cards like I don't know how he works his magic um but they they all seem to be great even like what we at like the fourth or fifth fight right now they've all been fantastic when your fighter has you come with them like to you know be their Corner kind of like what what is it that you want to do or what is it that you provide them to try to help them uh you know on the day with their fight yeah I mean it's just reassuring them what they've done you know in their camp in the lead up to the fights um you know we as coaches we can't we can't de for them in there but what what we D to do is reassure them that they've left no down on t and you know whatever whoever they fighting they've watched some tape they they know what to expect and then like every fight it's a rooll of the dice you know um um and for us with young amateurs it's about experience you know I want them to go in there listen to me try and try and do what I ask and and uh I'm build from there so yeah absolutely um what what is if you had like do you kind of do you put your Fighters up for these for these fights or do they kind of come to you what do you Bo Bo yeah bit Bo um um like some guys some guys are very eager coach I want to F this show that show every every every show you can get on some guys are a little bit more reserved that need to push you know everyone's an individual and um Everybody U you know everybody approaches fting differently you know so um yeah so you know for oil War we had a couple of guys couple of young amateurs that are are are looking to you know test themselves so all you fantastic show fter and then we have some experienced go towards the end of the the end of the show that are potentially going to go pro you know after this fight or after one or two off I think there's a a couple fighters on here that on this car that'd be going pro soon yeah yeah yeah definitely what is it all right so the the whole MMA and tradici scene in Ireland has kind of just blown up in the last I've been here 8 years now and even in my time I've seen it just kind of explode um like what are the benefits overall like as a population that you think you uh have seen you know I I always people like to F you know I mean we're very competitive we like to fight the fight n it's it's an all saying and um yeah we're very competitive so um you know there was a bit of a l for a world you know you know with um with a lack of shows and stuff like that but you know we got regular shows now allward is on you know you can guarantee it's going to be on four times five times a year um so with regular shows young competitors athletes that are looking to Showcase their skills and the sport is only going to grow we've had loads of guys there competing over the week uh over the last week in the OM Ms doing very well for Oreland um you know we have Co coming Tri now over the next couple of weeks uh on the UFC in in uh the UK yes so it's it's it's like a re uh a Resurgence of of Irish MMA because some young new kids coming through and uh I'm very excited to see see how well they do over the next over the coming years you know awesome um can you speak some of the benefits that maybe you've seen uh you know maybe some of your younger students who are probably still in school um the benefits that you see in them you know competing and training of course yeah like any sport like doesn't have to be it doesn't have to be MMA I always say find a sport that you love and do it because you learn so many life skills you learn to deal with the losses you learn to problem solve you learn to deal with adversity and and and you know deal with your emotions and and and control your emotions stuff so you learn so so much from martial but you learn so much from from from from All Sports I got young kids coming in you know some some kids coming from you know from the councils that have got anger issues and they realize anger doesn't help you in in Jiu-Jitsu or MMA you know what I mean a focus clear M A think and mind helps you absolutely so so they they learn to they learn so many so many love skills from from mixed martial arts that I think U you know that that I think what they will carry into into their careers and whatever they may do awesome um so so one of the things I probably should have mentioned to you before is uh like in my podcast I I try to focus a lot on like the mental health benefits of Combat Sports in general can you give like kind of one personal uh obviously not too personal or you know whatever you're comfortable with just like how comic Sports has helped you specifically yeah of course like I mean for me um I came up in in in in a relatively rough area in in Dublin and you know it it was tough I had had a great family and stuff like that but it's it's it's tough and also where I grew up you were you were kind of you weren't expected to do very well but um and when I got into martial arts and I realized how tough it was I realized how you know how many times I lost early on in in regards to just being on the mat and getting submitted and getting beat up and stuff like that and you you learn to get resilience you learn to you learn that anything to anything that's what happen and you've got to really work hard for and there'll be lots of bumps and knocks and bangs and wins and losses is on the way but if you stick to it you can achieve anything and and for me um you know I've I've had a good career in mix in mixed martial arts as a for and as a coach and now you know the confidence that that's given me has allowed me to go into different different Ventures opening businesses opening the gym opening other other um Combat Sports Equipment businesses and stuff so I think if you can if you can get good at mixed martial arts you can get good at anything yeah excellent all right one last question if uh if there was someone who you know maybe just kind of need that little push to explore Combat Sports or you know martial arts anything what would you say to them join your local gym Jo your local gym like at the end of the day um there's plenty of mixed maral X gyms in in Oreland go find the closest one to you go in there put it all on the line and don't get too disappointed with the losses and try and learn from them and who know you see in the UFC yeah no and just to add on to that I don't think there's a bad Jiu-Jitsu gym in the country M um nothing's coming to mind at the moment like you're pretty much anywhere you walk in you're going to get a good solid foundation of course so yeah but uh look sir I appreciate your time thank you very much um Good Luck to yourself and the rest of the fighters out tonight appr um and yeah thank you very much cheers [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] a [Music] [Applause]
