Go back. >> Okay. Uh, everyone, as far as fighting championship, I have here uh the main event, Mr. Brian. >> Main event winner. >> Main event winner. Yeah, >> excuse me. >> Mr. Brian Draper. >> Yes, sir. >> First of all, congratulations. >> Thank you very much. Thank you. >> How's it feel? What's this win mean to you? >> Ah, um, this this win was a lot. Yeah. um to be honest with you, not because it was anything other than what was what's to come after this win. Um of a lot of opportunities waiting for me at the pro ranks. Um so tonight was just about winning because obviously when you have organizations looking to bring you in to fight professionally, you can't be still losing you can't be losing an amateur, you know what I mean? >> Yeah. Um the first round was a little bit little bit slow because uh it's heavyweight and I've never even seen many videos of Ko. So I had to sort of figure him out first and it was a bit of a slow round but the second round four round I I just felt I had his read. I had the timing down and everything and um I started putting things together. In fairness to Kuya though, I couldn't keep pressing with the hands because he was throwing big shots back and he's quite long and he's a good he's good box and he turns his hands over. Well, where some people they sort of slap a punches, he was actually turning the shots over. So, you have to be careful with that because if one of them lands on your chin, you know what I mean? They will knock you out, you know? >> Absolutely. >> Yeah. So, it was a bit Yeah. >> U Okay. So, like after that first round, you look pretty good. Uh your cardio wise, like you looked um >> me or him? >> You? >> Oh, yeah. like you looked well. >> Um, >> you know, like after that first round, you you got a your chance to kind of feel each other out like what was kind of going through your mind? Sorry. What was your game plan going into this and then after that first round like how did it change? >> So, the game plan in the fight the game plan in the fight was um basically was to walk off his jab. He throws a lot of jabs and he's long. So, a lot of it was walking off his jab, calf kick, if he's staying in front of me, if he's moving, slips, and so to come over with the shots rather than loading big shots, which I think I still was loading big shots a couple of times. >> Yeah. >> But I shouldn't have been. The game plan was not to load, was to just touch, touch, touch, and then the big shot will come after. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Um, but that was the game plan. And then he caught me with a really hard calf kick in the first round, and me whole leg went h went numb. Um, you can actually you'll probably see if you if you look back in the fight I because me corner said it straight away. They said they knew that horde because the second he threw it and I went to step me foot wobbled and then I heard his corner go that and I was like yeah shut the [ __ ] up. I was like shut up. Sorry my language but I was like shut up. You know I did. So that kind of then just I was like when you get hurt in the fight it's a bit like you kind of just survive then you're trying to just get your wits about you. Yeah. >> But then towards then the fourth round was over. Then I knew right we have this fest time and have everything down. And then the plan after that was just to keep the pressure. Um, one of the commentators said to me there that in the third round I just didn't take my guys off in the whole round. I stalked around the whole cage. >> You dead locked into him. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Um, yeah. And I think if I had a bit more time in that tour round, I think I was going to get the finish on the ground. It was just >> Yeah, I think I would have went there. >> I think Yeah, I think he was just uh he was threatening the kamar, I think, with me left arm. So, I couldn't really punch straight away. I didn't want to do something stupid and get caught with a bloody kamar trap on me left arm while I'm sitting. You know what I mean? >> So, uh probably a little bit still a little bit cautious. I'm trying to get rid of that caution. Feel like I have a very good IQ in fighting. So, it but the downside of that is that I'm quite cautious and I watch everything where sometimes you just need to show caution to the wind and just kind of go for it. Um yeah. Right on. Um so, like it you look pretty good on your feet. Um you like a like a like What what is your what was your preferred method of fighting today? Like was it to stand on your feet, do boxing, throw some kicks? Yeah. Okay. >> Standing standing. Um the only reason why I grappled with him at the end was because I just wanted to solidify the rounds because at the end of the day, my last two fights I fought people in their hometowns and I've gotten I believed I gotten robbed on decisions and very very close crowds swaying the judges, stuff like that. Like um yeah. So, I really really didn't want to that even though I love striking and I didn't want to have to grapple. >> Yeah. >> You still have to solidify the rounds I wanted to grapple just to make sure. >> Right on. >> Yeah. >> Uh like what's your what's one thing you kind of worked on specifically for this fight? >> Walking off the jab. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Cuz I knew but I'm not I'm not going to lie, his jab to the body was a lot h lot sharper than than it looked. That's what I said to him. Even my coaches said uh and my coaches like James Sheen like cage word as world champion high level guy. He was even saying like wow he's had to improve since his last fight which was last year. He took a whole year off. He said >> you could definitely tell he's really really coming on. So >> I probably underestimated a little bit to be honest with you. I actually not that I would ever underestimate anybody but I think I did a little bit you know because when he came half kick man I kind of saying that probably like 2020s but I [ __ ] no one does that to me. I calf kick people. Do you get It was like when I was like it was like that with dodgeball like nobody makes me bleed ball. I was like yeah >> heck yeah. Uh so like what's obviously you want to go pro here. Um like what's what's next in your card? How are you going to do like a few more amateurs or what do you think? >> No, I've had I've had I've been fighting amateurs since since August 2017. I've had an off I've only had 10 fights. That was my 10 fight. I've had a lot of uh time off in between fights simply down to pull outs. Yeah, >> fight's happening. Fight's about to happen. Guys doesn't fight. Trying to find another guy. Trying to find another guy. It happens then it doesn't happen. It's like it was just happening constantly happening. Then I broke my shoulder in 2022. That put me out for a year. So I've had a lot of like stop, go, stop, go, stop, go. But I know my level and I know that will blow early pros out of war. And um I think now I'm at the point like I I was meant to go pro on Cage Warriors in April. My opponent pulled out five days before the fight and ever since then I just kept up the train. I've not stopped, >> you know what I mean? And that's why when you said it looked very fresh like >> that was a really really high pace fight and I felt really fresh, you know what I mean? Like I I did feel really fresh and I feel now like I mean like my arms are a bit heavy but that's just from loading my punches but um >> yeah I I believe the program will suit me more. I think you can see it there. >> See how like three minute rounds there I have to sort of push that bit heavier piece. Imagine that to round or imagine being able to do that the whole five minutes. That's going to break people. That pressure will break people at professional 100%. And then >> with the smaller gloves, stuff like that, >> I feel like me rather than having to throw a power, my I have really good speed, my speed will be complemented a lot more on the professional gloves because you don't have to hit as hard with small bit precision and and and speed. >> Right on. >> Yeah. >> All right. Uh look here, I'm I'm going to leave it at that. >> Yeah, sound for It's fine. Uh it's late for both of us and >> uh so I got a long drive that I'm >> Oh, brother God bless you. >> Semi looking forward to >> What time are we even at? What what what time is it? >> It is 11:30. >> 11:30. >> Yeah. >> The last time I checked me phone, it was half a That's crazy. I had to 3 hours into the future, bro. >> We're all good then. >> Yeah. Right on. All right. Look, man. Congratulations and until next time. All right. >> Okay. >> All right, man. >> God bless. Thank you. >> No problem. Thank you. Go. Hey. Hey. [Music]
