Fansview MMA speaks with Gheorghe Grozav ahead of his professional MMA debut on Cage Legacy Fighting Championship in Dublin. He says he and his team had been trying to get a bout for about the last seven months and is happy to finally be matched after a strong amateur run that ended on a winning streak, including wins over top bantamweight names that made it hard to find willing opponents. He and coach Patty O'Halloran decided it was time to turn professional on a good note. Grozav describes training for his last three amateur fights like a pro—time off work and two or three sessions a day—and says he is keeping the same approach for this camp, with results expected on Saturday night. He credits Patty O'Halloran's detailed corner coaching and rounds out thanks to gym partners and boxing support from Cromwell Boxing Club. He wants to stay active as a pro, ideally three or four more times in 2024 if bookings allow, and says he likes fighting Cage Legacy Fighting Championship near Dublin so friends and family can attend without long travel.

Kind: captions Language: en [Music] perfect so I'm here with jords who's going to be making his uh professional MMA debut on cage Legacy next weekend he had a fantastic amage career he ended on a winning streak um it's been a fight we've been waiting to see for a long time because he's found it really hard to get match so I want to thank you very much for taking your time to talk to me and how are you how are you feeling and how' you feel to finally get matched after such a long way yeah it's all good like yeah I feel really happy to get a fight like finally because we are looking like for a fight for the what like last seven months or something yeah so really happy to get the fight so yeah feeling great ready yeah and obviously you had a really good amateur career you beat all the top kind of names in the bantamweight Division and then you left so obviously I think that was hard for you that was the reason why it was hard for you to get to fight no one want to fight you you because you're you're so good at the top end of amateur um but when you look back at your amateur career H uh D were you happy with how it ended because you had a really good win streak what made you turn pro now do you think it was just time obviously yourself and Patty together think it was just time to turn pro yeah yeah we just like have a a small chat with Buddy and we decide like it's time to to to turn pro like on the good note so yeah yeah and then oh sorry with the with the training camp is is there much difference is it or is it more intense or were you always training like a pro before before you took the lead yeah so for the last what like three fights I used to training like like very intense for my last three amateur fights like uh I used to get like uh weeks off from work and just like training twice a day three times a day and that make the difference like even in the last few voice like felt like totally different person in a cage so just this time was no nothing different just the same keep working hard and we'll see we'll see the the results on Saturday night yeah and I can't wait to see and you can see that though in your progress me and Paul Brown talked about it uh I think it was on Thursday that you could notice visibly you getting better and better each right so when you look at from where you started and where you finished yeah over time it doesn't seem like much but it's a big difference you improved so much between each fight could you feel that in each fight that you were getting better and better and better by big leaps like I can't say like because I felt that but like people around me who were training with me every day they they keep saying that like oh you get like really good but for me like I can't make like uh much difference between because I'm like kind of person like for for me it's never enough too good so like I'm like no I keep I have to keep training it's not the limit now so so just keep training just progress all the time yeah and that's that's a good mindset to have obviously because if you're never happy with where you are you're always going to push yourself and push yourself and that's why why you're so good and obviously with your opponent H coming up as well fair play to him for taking it nobody else wanted this fight he hasn't fought for a while and obviously you've been quite active do you think that would be a big advantage to going into the into the match cuz I know he does have experience but you have be more active lately in MMA do you think that's a big Advantage for you I think can can be an advantage I don't know like U at what stage or he is now like how he's fighting or how fast he is or how like his Fitness is uh it's like can be like a something I don't know unexpectable for me like this to say cuz I don't know like really what they expect from him but I'm prepared for everything so we'll see we'll see yeah because like I just said about you you you got so good on each fight so if someone looked at your last tape and then they went to fascia you could be different this is the case then with him as well because it's been so long since his fought you don't know what training he's had I know he's fought my ti in K1 and he's won a couple of titles but you don't in terms of MMA you don't know what kind of fighter he's going to be so yeah but you're ready you're ready for everyone because what I like about you is your style your pressure is so good your wrestling is so good then you started adding the submissions and then you've you're is it crumbling your boxing club you're train yeah you've really rounded out your game and that's obviously what you wanted to do before you went to amateur is have everything because you can see in different stages your wrestling is always good really good then your submissions were getting better as you started winning with them and then we could see your hands were getting better uh was that a plan in all just to just to get better at each one and make them fully round before you make the jump yeah yeah yeah like uh I was always like always I thought like as as an amateur fighter you can't be like good just in one thing you need to have like everything like wrestling jiujitsu like striking everything so you have to pre to be prepared for everything because with somebody your striking can work and you're wrestling no and with somebody you're wrestling like my network and you have to strike so it's better like to to be ready for everything so yeah yeah and then obviously you with Patty hulahan who gets you really prepared talk to us what it's like having Patty in your corner I've been I obviously you see me all the shows and I can see how passionate Patty is every time you're on a fight any because he's at every show like he's at every show with every fighter whether it's novice amateur professional um what's it like having him in your corner and training you through the years because he just seems like he cares so much about everybody in the gym yeah it's uh interesting question like uh he's uh very good coach like uh I like his mindset as well and I like his uh when we working like the details that he gave to us is like a bit different so does make the the difference in a fight as well when uh when he's telling you some you already know what he wants from you like you you don't need to go like through the wrong sequence like all the time in each fight so he is telling you something you know exactly what he wants and the position he want like the details he that he wants you know like everything because you drill there like for weeks in the gym so you know everything uh that can help you in avoid so yeah that's that's the training with bodyy like that that's here style of training yeah and I like him I like because because I see he's up he's down he's he's happy he's shouting he's it's because he cares so much about it and like you said I've heard him it's like when he says it you do it and whatever he can see that you can't see at the time it just works and then that's obviously it's like you're he's playing computer through you whatever he says yeah and you can and you can see it work off so obviously you're not looking ahead of your opponent but are you looking to become a active as you were in amateur if you can get the fights going yeah of course I would like to if if in a future I I can get the fight going like I would like to fight maybe like without this one maybe three four more times this year if they'll that gonna happen so yeah that's very very active and one more question before you go you're fighting on cage leg in Dublin you fought on it before what's it like to fight on that show because from being around it the crowd is crazy everything's crazy do you like the show you because obviously you fought all over but do you like fighting on cage XI it's close to Dublin people can come it's easier for them to come yeah yeah it's a it's a good show I like the energy all the time like my friends and family can came and support me as well so they don't don't need to drive like 200 kilometers away to see me fighting so yeah it's a it's a good show like uh really good organization and I like really happy to to make my Pro debute on their card perfect perfect I'm going to let you go I want to thank you so much for your time it's been an absolute pleasure I can't wait to see you fight like I said we've been waiting for this Pro debut for a while is there anything you want to say to any of your friends or coaches or fans before you go yeah yeah so before I'll go like I want to say like thank you to everybody who was like helping me in this training C that's uh guys from the gym uh asper bullins Yan geru my my coach from from cromin boxing club uh T also known as Patman Mac I I know you do yeah yeah and of course py as well to for helping me with everything and all the guys in the gym that with who I SP with training with every day like a big big thank you because without them I wouldn't be there here and uh and really excited for the pro debut so I I hope I'll show everything that that I can on Saturday night perfect and I bet you will like said the last couple of fights you've been absolutely excellent and you've performed better and better each time and Patty says the new version of you would beat the last version that fought so that's exciting to see thank you so much for your time and I'll see you next weekend yeah thank you for having me on than
