Fansview MMA interviews Claudio Pacella during fight week ahead of the first ever Your Fighting Championship professional lightweight title bout, which he says is on Sunday. Pacella represents SBG Ireland after moving from Top Team Italy about seven months earlier; a friend named Daniela connected him with the SBG coaches. He describes high-level daily training at SBG, including rounds with Kiefer Crosby, and says Ireland is expensive and administratively difficult but worth the sacrifice for his career under coaches he names as John Carpenter and Dave. Pacella says he studied opponent Alex’s recent fights, especially a close five-round bout with Scott Harvey, and plans to pursue an early finish while preparing for 15 minutes. He moved up from featherweight because the cut had become too hard, acknowledges his recent first loss after a six-fight win streak, and says proving himself in the cage—matching his gym performance—is his main motivation beyond the belt. He cites Marvin Vettori, especially after the Paulo Costa fight, as an inspiration for Italian fighters, traces his MMA start to age 17 in Italy, and expects his stand-up to show strongly on fight night.

[Music] [Music] thank you [Music] okay so we have the second half of the main event for the first ever your Fighting Championship lightweight title it's the first ever professional title so we have uh Claudio patella here he's from SBG Ireland formerly from uh Italy top team Italy so we're going to get into obviously thank you very much for joining me fight week is a very busy week how are you how is how what does fight week look like for you how is fight week for you nice to meet you so fight week is gonna be a dance I think wake up is gonna take some time but it would be like always so no problem I'm happy I'm fighting for there for the title Sunday so Summit at the moment perfect perfect and it's the first ever professional title did you know that uh for the yeah yeah so uh whatever happens regardless this is going to be a part of History does that make you happy to be the first one to ever fight for a professional title on the show uh I'm not gonna be happy if I'm the first one to lose it so I'm going I met if I can win it so uh the only thing about this fight is important of course but it's important even for me even without the belt it's a one thing for me to to get my my win back to get back to to get my attention from that so it's important for me perfect perfect and obviously your opponent Alex has been on the show a few times obviously he's from Ireland so I'm quite familiar with him have you done your research on them do you know where have you looked at his game plan and obviously don't tell us your game plan but where you think you can take advantage of yeah yeah um I saw in last two fights so the last one I'm not really concerned about because it was Superior for from from the start to finish so I cannot look at that and take something I'm giving attention to their fight to Scott Harvey because I saw Scott I'll be fighting with one of my teammates so I know it's very good so I saw his fight with him was close five good fight so I know it's gonna be tough fight but I'm confident in myself I know the work that I put in so I really I'm really confident about so I I think uh I'm I'm trying to to get the finish off quickly as possible but I'm ready for 15 minutes so what I know for sure is gonna be ready for 15 minutes because he done it with uh with Scott Harvest what are this stuff it's good so I know I'm gonna be I think I'm gonna be bigger I think I'm gonna be faster stronger but that's my opinion he thinks the same so we'll see so we all get the pleasure of seeing on Sunday who it is and I can't wait for this fight obviously personally it's a show that I really like um and I like that there's new fresh challenges as well and and we were just talking before you you've joined SBG you're here for good you said you joined seven months ago talk to us about coming to Ireland obviously why SBG and how have you found Ireland as a country yeah um I came to SBG after I talked with one friend Daniela so he is the one to introduce me to the coaches there to the team and thanks to him I got attention from the coach I got some good words from the from the coach from the start so I know they are really trusting me they really give me confidence give me every everything so I'm thankful for that and uh I'm not there because I was training a room uh something happened but um no one talked about but um I need to move the um to move country but um I'm really I really feeling feeling like this is the the place to to become what you what you always dream about so I I can feel your the level is too high the coaches are really the best in the game and I know that Pursuit and the teammates yeah it's incredible to work with them I lose my round I go as hard as I can but every time I learn something so it's good yeah because obviously when you're with parties like that you've got I've seen your spine with key for Crosby there recently who was an absolute killer like you've you you're spying with bodies like that every day have you noticed an improvement in the short time since you've been at SBG in your skill set yeah but the mind is the mind the the first thing because first I think I was I was good before and I'm good now but to have the mentality to to know that you are good and after you talk I have to prove it on Sunday so it's uh it's a waste of worth it someday I don't perform well but I know for sure that going to to to to with um these guys and every time ask him something give uh give give me the feedback there so it's good to learn something about them I'm I'm blessed to be here so yeah it's a very good chairman and as for obviously coming to SVG that's a big change to change the gyms but you're also changing the country as well like how hard was it to get used to Ireland as a country one because it's very expensive here wow I don't know why but uh yeah it's it's expensive it's not easy to to find that house it's not easy to get documents right to to earn a thousand so it's it's difficult but I think sacrifice in the Life are others are not not this so there are more things in life that are more heavier than this Maybe it's Ireland I like it this uh this uh this monster is gonna say I think the next two months will be good for the weather and uh other things but I like it should not eat a little good yeah yeah like I said small sacrifices for long term like all those little things are are like at the end of the day aren't really much when you consider your future here and what you potentially can be in SPG under the likes of John Carpenter Dave and working with these guys so obviously to get to this Titan shot you had to start somewhere can you talk to me about how long ago you got into MMA and why you got into MMA so I start um back in a room in uh when I was 17 I think and I found with I found one great coach that always always uh stay with me and teach me something and uh and uh I always have been with me I text teams who we are in a good relationship so I started MMA because I always knew and wanted to do some good things in life so and then when I watched this sport I fell in love with the sport I recognized that I will achieve something in this sport so I know for sure that I will do something or I will die trying so that's why and like that you said no matter what happens with people most people I met meet in martial arts uh are probably the nicest people you meet in the world and it's changed so many people's lives so it's I think for young people it doesn't have to be MMA it could be yes some sort of combat I think going to a gym is a very humbling experience and it helps organize them but obviously one of your fellow Italians as well Marvin fatori the weekend how was he viewed I love Marvin especially since the paolocaster fight I think his popularity really went up he's an absolute like he's made a stone I think how is he viewed is he an inspiration in Italy for people like you uh yeah obviously you cannot respect what what he did he did the same thing uh that we that I'm trying to do so change life clean City so obviously it's an inspiration I mean some things uh I I had another inspiration from another athlete but I don't want to talk about in Italy but uh I think um yeah obviously you want to look up to him and say I want to do the things that he did so you have to train like him you have to to live the life like him so 100 in the gym perfect and obviously you're planning on winning and taking this title on Sunday what is your plan for the rest of the year do you just take it one fight at a time take the fight win the fight and then go on and then look at what's next or have you got the next couple of months planned or are you just focusing on this fight ah just focus on this because I to the people that are watching I have to prove something to myself because I know I'm capable of doing great things but I have to prove it in the in the after one I think I hope that that someday I will get my my best performance in life and then after that maybe I I get some call I don't know I don't know I will say um I will stay in the gym two days after and trying to see what what's next the year doesn't finish with the fight on Sunday obviously no it doesn't it's just it's just you reset and go again and then obviously you've looked at your career today you've gone from you were fed away You're Gone to lightweight um do you feel obviously what was the change if you don't mind me asking and do you feel stronger at lightweight it was fed away too hard of a cup yeah obviously uh I'm growing so I was a little bit a little bit younger and now I'm I think I'm a big lots of life with so the cap is gone for featherweight at this stage of my career I don't think it's it's possible maybe it's possible if I take some maybe two or three months so it's diet to do better with so it's not easy but even lightweight it's not easy but I'm gonna do as as always so I'm fully committed too so no problem perfect and you talked about wanting to prove something to the people and and entertain the people and you want to prove something to yourself most importantly and I notice obviously you won't answer your last fight and that was your first loss um is that what has you so motivated is to bounce back and go back on because you're on a winning streak I want to say of six fights so it's that you want to get back in the winning column and go back on a streak like that yeah yeah absolutely um the the last uh the loss never take confident away for uh from me but I feel like I never performs um as good as I think I I am so I the only thing I want to perform like I'm performing in the gym I know I know for sure in the sparring in the in the cage I know my I give everything I I give our time to good people so I win my round I lose my round but I know I know for sure that I'm capable of doing good things so I want just to prove it to myself then I'm that I'm good so perfect and I can't wait to see I think it's going to be an absolutely fantastic fight because obviously I look back on when you go to the ground you're very dangerous where do you get an arm knock and I'm about a ground and pound and would you say that's one of your strengths or are you stronger obviously you're strong everywhere but once you go to the ground you seem to finish people yeah but I think I hope that that I wish also on Sunday about I think my stand-up will will prove something so I know my stand-up is my my biggest thing so uh obviously there are all good struggle in the world until like I'm good so I think um the stand up will tell you something about about screening Sunday perfect I can't wait to see it because obviously if you're sparring with the legs are key for Crosby who on the fleet is an absolute killer um and all those bodies that you have there like that you've got so many people to to chop and change and and do you think that's one of the biggest things with SBG is that there's so many at such a high level whereas obviously in some gyms you're going to have good level but you might not have so many you might not have some tool so wait wait like same way but in SVG especially in your way you've got so many people at so many levels like do you think that's like how is is that how you see it and yeah yeah that's why everyone grew growing uh as much as they can because every every day you can change partner and find someone that is really good so you can sold something from him alert something from another one so that's why the team is big as as we get so that's why and so many good people so many great importance so I'm good I'm good here perfect I'm Gonna Let You Go I want to say thank you so much for joining me and that's because especially with the time of week it is it's so close to the fight I can't wait to see you in person and see you fight it's going to be an absolute pleasure and it's just something you want to say before you go or anyone you want to shout out no no at the moment no maybe after the fight I will shout out to somebody but I thanks everyone to watch this interview and everyone that has my back so they know who they are so thank you so much thank you so much it's been an absolute pleasure pleasure meeting you and I can't wait to see you in person on Sunday okay thank you so much perfect thank you so we could stop
