Professional featherweight title fight

Corey McLaughlin (FAI, 2-2) v Joe Orrey (SMMA, 11-9)

A quick turnaround for Fight Academy hitman Corey McLaughlin as he aims to right the wrongs of his Cage Warriors loss last week.

He was looking super sharp in that fight until he got caught in the second, but to be honest, ‘The Lawmaker’ already earned a domestic title shot in his previous fight with a stunning win over the talented Ciaran Maskey on Gladiateire. That stoppage will most likely go down as performance of the year in Irish MMA.

It’s a privilege to be able to offer him that title opportunity, for a belt that has been strapped around some big names in Irish MMA, including former UFC star Paul Redmond. The Notorious, Conor McGregor also won an eliminator for the FW strap, before brighter lights came calling.

Standing across the cage from McLaughlin will be a true OG of the fight game.

With 20 professional MMA fights and a positive record, Joe Orrey deserves this title shot. The Brazilian Jiujitsu black belt proved his all round ability recently with a professional boxing prizefighter title in a four man bracket and he comes to Derry confident and ready to silence the home crowd.

McLaughlin will be bringing an army of supporters from Limavady. But who walks away with the belt?
