Post-fight interview with Jack Corr after winning the GFC 2 - GladiatEire Fighting Championships 2 main event and his first professional title. Corr describes losing his last amateur bout for a belt by split decision despite a first-round knockdown, turning pro on the next card, winning three pro fights, then earning the title shot against a very tough opponent. He says he broke the opponent’s nose, heard his brother in the corner urging him on, and was chasing a head knee when the doctor stopped the fight before round two because of the nose injury; he felt relief more than a ref stoppage celebration, took little damage, and would have preferred a cleaner finish. He compares the bout to his fight two pro outings earlier against Mikey McCoy, where a head kick cut McCoy badly and produced the most blood Corr had seen, with a slippery ground-heavy cage. Corr says the camp ran about three hard months and he wants a short break, but his team talks with bigger European promotions through his dad and he was once offered a big show that clashed with fights already booked; he prioritized winning this belt first. He plans to let a teammate such as Masky K Masky or his brother EMTT headline the next club show while he likely targets a larger European card. He closes with a sponsor shout-out to Original Animals.

All right, >> everyone. Welcome back Gladiator Fighting Championship. I have here the main event uh and the winner, Mr. Jack Core. >> Yeah. >> Uh first of all, congratulations. What uh what's what's it >> what's it like carrying that bad guy? >> H it's really good. I had a opportunity to win a belt at amateur. My last amateur for the last amateur fight was for a belt and I did a loss split decision and you know it was really it was really um it was a real downer for me when I lost it. Like I knocked the guy down in the first round. Ended up losing and I turned pro the next fight even though I lost. I thought it was a good performance but I didn't get the belt. So I knew um I took my time fighting for a belt at pro. I wanted to win a couple fights. I didn't want to just be given a title shot. won three and then so I knew I like wanted to have a title fight now and the guy I was fighting was tough as nails like and then I ended up you know it was a lot of pressure having a fight for a belt you know not winning it before not having a belt so I'm glad to get that monkey off my back like and it was a really a flawless performance I think against one of the toughest guys I've thought for for sure >> right on um I I I kind of want to I might have to send you a dry cleaning because I was sat cage side there and as you were just laying into him there I got >> covered. I had a two pro fights ago against Mike McCoy and here was the same cut cut the guy open the head kick sliced him open. It was the most blood ever I've ever been in a fight. It was so hard. >> But because that fight was on the ground a bit. It was really slippery. So it was hard. That fight was pretty much stand up the whole time. But it was it was great. Like >> were were you surprised um coming in to start the second round that when you heard that uh they that the doctor stopped it? Yeah, cuz usually usually they'll only stop it if the fighter wants to. And I could see I could see he was I could see he was wrecked. Like he was he was close to being finished, but I knew he was so tough that he would he would get on you. And I could see that he wanted to come out, but then doctor like >> it was hard for me to keep a focus cuz I was like >> when you're near finishing something, you're always like just give up here so I can get that one. And especially I knew he was tough and the we gloves it can just change an instant like he could. At the start I was like he's strong and he was tough. And then it just sort of once I broke his nose I could hear my brother shouting in the corner he's [ __ ] He's [ __ ] over and over again. And I was like he is. And I was trying I was chasing the knee a wee bit to the head cuz I knew a big knee would finish it but it was I'm happy enough. I would have maybe preferred a cleaner stoppage but I don't know. I took little damage and really really hurt him. >> Yeah. Yeah. No, it was I was surprised that they called it cuz I knew he was bleeding a lot, but it wasn't I've seen worse. >> Yeah, I think it was I think it was more his nose. >> Yeah, >> his nose was right across his face. >> I did see that. It was like it looked like a a zed. >> And that's why I think pro gloves suit me more like amateur you can do that. You can't do a lot of damage. The pro gloves you >> Oh, excuse me. >> The pro gloves you really damage like do few jabs recklessly. So, >> it was good. >> Right on. Um, so like Was >> so you're getting ready uh for the second round and then >> you know you hear that that it's over, it's done. Like was that a bit of a a relief? Like were you able to kind of >> the the overriding feeling is relief? >> It's when you stop someone like the ref jumps in, you're sort of celebrating yourself, but when the when you've hurt them and then you're back to your corner, you're getting ready to go back out. But because I can see, you're just sort of like, "All right, the the tough part's over now." Right on. Right on. Um, so I guess like what what's what's next? Like uh you know what do you want to do? >> Um, we bit wee bit of a break. It was a tough tough camp like pretty much 3 months straight training. >> Okay. >> Fittest of being hardest and it takes a toll on the body. But >> absolutely it does. >> I'll not like I might like it's good to have this in the background being my club show that if I can't get anything I can always jump on this. But I probably like I'd probably be on a bigger show next like probably one of the big European shows like I I wouldn't mind fighting on you know I feel like I was a tough opponent and I put a really good performance on. I feel like I'm really coming into my own now. Like so >> is your is your team already kind of talking with some of these other promotions to >> Yeah, it's I think it would be easy enough for me to get on. Um I was not me personally but like they're always on to my dad. Do you have anyone available? There was a big show I did get offered and that's how it was but it was like really close to a fight I already had agreed on this I already had this agreed and then not this fight my last fight and then this one I had cuz if I'm on a big promotion probably not going to get a title fight you know so I wanted definitely to have a title fight and then I'll probably leave the main event spot up to Masky K Masky or my brother EMTT for the next one you know give them a chance to be main event cuz I've main event all three of them like so I'll have to let one of the other boys one. >> Tell them to fight you for it. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> All right. Look, um I don't want to take too much more of your time. I I appreciate uh you know, you you talking to me. Um >> awesome awesome performance tonight. >> Um you know, you nailed it. You did a fantastic job. Um so yeah, man. I appreciate it. Thanks so much. Right on. >> Appreciate it. Thank you. >> And uh quick shout out to um I had a sponsor this this time around. Um they they sponsored uh uh a giveaway prize for me. Um so everyone please check out Original Animals. Um check them out on Instagram, check out their uh their website, original animals.co.uk. Uh they have lots of cool gear, including this shirt here. Um their artwork is like fantastic. Um so please check it out. It it it helps me for you to help them. Yeah. >> Yeah. Something like that. Okay. Look, anyway, check them out. Original animals and original animals.co.uk. Um, hey look man, until next time. I really appreciate it. Thank you so much. All right. >> Cheers.
