Liam Shannon of Foy Academy Ireland joins The Energized Show to reflect on Paul Hughes’s Bellator debut win over Bobby King, the pre-planned blackout walkout arranged with Bellator and manager Tim Simpson, and Paul’s planned break of about four to six weeks after his sister’s July or August wedding and a Barcelona trip before targeting one more fight before Christmas and a bigger run next year. Shannon argues Irish staples on Bellator and PFL cards are often kept on home turf against soft opposition while names like Derek Kelly and Nathan Kelly deserve step-ups abroad, and as Cage Conflict matchmaker he explains how hard it is to import credible opponents when Irish pros often refuse Irish matchups. He critiques mismatches on other Irish cards, Safe MMA costs blocking southern amateurs, and promotion basics like atmosphere, social media, and post-fight results. He updates Rhys McKee’s UFC path toward a Paris return built on confidence and momentum, Paddy McKee’s return from The Ultimate Fighter at roughly 102–103 kilos, stalled Cage Warriors bookings for Scott Harvey, Sham McCormack, Big Jordan and Matthew Elliott, and Ryan Curtis’s recovery from a catastrophic neck injury through Colombia stem-cell treatment and now advanced rehab in Texas, backed by a GoFundMe.

Kind: captions Language: en [Music] en sh up the Irish time okay what's going on guys welcome to a brand new episode of energ brought to you by for Stout on or Kings competitions Ross are you intoxicated or something introduce the guest man with itday we have everyone's favorite coach up at fo Academy Ireland it's the one and only Liam Shannon Liam how you doing board okay how good I don't know we're the favorite coach Pat's the favorite coach I think I'm the play good cup b cup I'm us the bad cup I know that that that was only me just want want them pop up a bit uh what's it called two legends up there but uh shond though might as well get straight into it things on fire at the gym at the moment uh obviously Paul made his uh his uh debut there at Bellator um that was your first time coach fter in Bellator what was that like for you guys what did you guys obviously you've been to shows all over the world nearly every promotion in the world but what what what was that one like and how special was that for young Paul that was a real good good night because I was the Paul's uh going to be a superstar so was really h on their treatment before during and after the show know I mean they know that um they protect their investment in terms of anything he needed never on the ball and uh don't know it's like of all the fighs but ging Paul like there were there couldn't be any nature for us as a team couldn't be any nature and uh yeah kind of good good good positive working with Bor yeah one thing I definitely noticed on the night uh which Paul got no one else got H the walk out you got the blackout treatment and you know it changes now maybe I'm getting old CH though I didn't know the rap song but H he obviously went from Grace into the rap song but uh that that was obviously different was that uh pre-plan now um that he got the blackout treatment is that something that Bellator gave to him yes well obiously that think it's discussed a few weeks between Tim Simpson and B themselves with Paul about the walk that and then no Pauls walket usually eight minutes long if uh you've asked me about a normal Bator show 99% of the time the walkouts are like kind of instant um what I call just Lally in the cage before the crowd can get H about it again it was hanging everyone's best interest to kind of prolong that walk out get the crowd behind it get the hate behind it and then obviously Paul on the stage of blackout but I was all rehearsed the day before after the ceremonial WIS um and again it was all on pre-plan with Bellator and Paul and his manager Tim Simpson well weeks ago well beforehand did you have ch rehearsals lame did you U we we were it was just straight after one so we had a tame had to do a few walk outs and tame for what at what point the walk at all good so it was because I canot give the credit to be better H I love all that the Conor McGregor thing where you see him backstage walking in in the arena great bu I mean even as a fan to watch it yeah I'm definitely here for the Showmanship side of it and uh Paul definitely brings that like I can't wait to to he makes you and Pat dance on the next walk out that's that's that's where it's really going to be at well that's maybe like who a winner against Israel over in Australia we be we'll be doing that practice on the dance Movic not too bad like part's not great like but I am right oh that's that's what we want to hear yeah well look we can put a PO out later who would who do people think is a better dancer shando or pot H shando where when would you like to see Paul back out again because like I know it was a bit of a bit of a war in the first round but he got to finish in the second round and like Paul saying he wants to stay very active when would you like to see him back um again depends he's a lot on in uh July and St of August is his sister getting married he's going away for a few weeks then going their beef and better T in Barcelona just chilling out he's had four or five Training Camps back to back no break so um I think he just going of enjoy life for maybe four to six weeks and see where we take it after it whatever chunties your ra um I know he said two but I think just just one before turn of Christmas and then get everything ready for the what I call the tournament next year yeah and it's and like we're obviously tough to see Paul and any Irish person getting paid in this game uh shando question is would you like to see more Fai fighters on the next pfl battle tour card of course yeah why like me have good relationships with most big large organizations and uh help off that they many te that how cage wears it when really backs against the wall same a brave great relationship now with s Brett um I was he levels with here and a all different organizations um but who wouldn't want to be part uh of the biggest Club in irand in my eyes the minute coming with the town coming forck who wouldn't want to have them on board and bring the next wave know what I mean yeah myself and Ross we bought the show back last week and we always had re on and I went off in a bit of a Mad one saying like how come Bellator are coming to Ireland and they're not involved in more gyms now a couple of people said look SBG are the people that put the groundwork into the scene and like what other Fighters could be added to the roster which is like like these are all like obviously we're going to get push back and what we say but like the way like SVG obvious like did a lot of work like and also team rer were heavily involved in Bellator as well but um like I do think that it would be a great idea to have more James involved like uh Ross we obviously heard back from that last week yeah definitely but I think there I think fi have a few people now sh you'll know better contract wi than I will that I think will be like an absolute as the Irish would say a model for a cuddle to get in here for a shot like I think someone like a and Dean could be like really good for a to pfl maybe like a Kyle McLaren as well um I know um Matthew Elliott just is back in in the cage Warriors cage again but I feel like someone like him him would have been great and I feel like there's a few other guys you probably know better better than myself who like who's where contract wise but like I'm looking at a few of those guys been like you know maybe even like aan McCormack as well like those type of guys I know he's booked on cage Warriors but guys who you know would definitely you know sell tickets be competitive in there no doubt about it and like you know would probably make pfl and belor more attractive to the Irish audience because you're expanding the gyms and not only you expanding the gyms you're also going north and south of the country you're also regionally expanding yeah um well again just this touch on the first subject like end the day like I know you're saying it's an SB issue but like you can't blame them they're getting the opportunities and that grass with both hands what I mean um to me it makes sense they going to Dublin trying to have the biggest show trying to have the biggest amount of Fighters on the show um again you have to balance it between a promotion and also like kind of obviously a promotion in terms of selling a live audience of and then obviously the television front make it a justifiable like kind of uh competitive organization so it's try very hard to um to me um and like if if I had the relationship with B I wouldn't be complaining so with interets they're getting the fights then again they're all getting paid they're building their careers um what I call if anything out of that situation I would like to see the the talent very very talented guys ESP to push off and actually start going out a feel the bigger Nam because they're more ready for it know I mean it's just feel like I think even the fighs themselves want that um what to call because they're all Cal and they're such T guys to so why not I think that's the biggest I think that's the biggest issue I have with it that you're seeing the likes of Kieran Clark knowing know bellor me and he he sort of fought the same level of competition three or four fights in a row like where's the step up like why isn't he getting to fight outside of the Dublin shows or the belf shows like why isn't he fighting you know over in the states same with your Dar Kelly's your Nathan Kelly's you know what I mean like some of these guys aren't I don't I don't obviously they're seem to be getting paid well they seem to be happy doing the DU jobs but they're not getting the opportunities outside of that and they're not really getting the chance to mix mix up their game against some of the other top guys in the sport like a lot of times they're fighting promotional newcomers or they're fighting no offense like but they're sort of fighting people that no one's ever heard of like uh me and Barry were saying on the last show and like we don't want to go over everything again but like when Derk keelly was fighting you probably I don't know if you saw this but like the odds came up the live odds came up D keelly was point to 10 to win and like we love D Kelly we've had der Kelly on the show numerous times absolutely lovely guy top talent but like him being one to 10 to win a f isn't going to do much for him and it was the same with Nathan Kelly he was one to 10 to win like put on 10 quid win one like that's that's not the competitive fights that we want to see these guys in we want to see them be challenged time and time again like Nathan Kenny's W one of the last 11 fights some unbelievable finishes in there like that guy has to be fighting someone who the fans recognize next time out yeah well exactly you said on the head like these guys they need to be kind of going the other places know what I mean but is that the is that the promotional problem is it that they not get any more fights anywhere else outside duin so the me it was so good for their career to start being a part of Bor is it they need to keep push on and start going other places around the world and challenging the higher level guys because they're that and again they sh they've had plenty of good fight as well um and doing n and Injustice this stage of their career doesn't help a promotion or the fighter yeah and like like any of those guys like we've met them we've had them on the show talk them like we're fans of them like as in like like we want them to do well it's more it's it's more like you're seeing like I said that fighter a from SB fight insert name here like some random french guy or random portug you know what I mean like I feel like there are the more fights that you fight when you're one and0 two and0 on the regional scene and like you fight sort of the foreign guy comes over to the home surf Turf and that's and you know the or guy is like there s there to lose like let's be honest like that's honestly I don't think that's the fairest choice I think no no no definitely not definitely not they're just GNA beat whoever put in front of them I mean I think frustrating for lemons because they're the other s Co is is like like yourselves and everyone else that they're not getting maybe their a gratitude that their level should should be getting I mean because they're going such but and doesn't like they can't help it and they are at a high high level and they should be challeng people the top 10 top five hopefully for a Bel and I don't know where the the breakdown and communication is but again for lemons it must be frustrating because they are high level Fighters and maybe they feel that I know there a few of them previous opponents were last fights that's the only thing the last minute guys have pulled out um what I call but again I think that like these guys here are taled and you're holding them back a we bit but I still maybe like almost suar record I mean yeah no yeah we obviously were like this is nothing against the fighters obviously the fighters are on picking their fights but Shand you're you're obviously a Matchmaker for the world famous cage conflict like how difficult is it to actually like go about and matchmaking well well it just on that as you saying like last Bobby King nobody heard of him like I mean been around for a while he hasn't been stopped in seven years like we we were talking about all before before the fight with the promoters and all and uh four fights ago he F he fought the guy he was 20 and three your man Alex Alexander Shahi and he's fighting now for the Bel then after that he beat the guy six and0 next F he beat the guy n and one like the guy he might be a household name but he's a leg guy hasn't been beat in seven years you're a man who's fighting for the belt next couldn't stop him and Paul stop him so I thought it was we bit like kind of Paul didn't get his his just for doing what he did last last weekend I think people were expecting like almost like some type of super hero and that come out and throw some fly knee and he couldn't win that we said before and Paul said my interview before if he comes out and stops this guy it's a major accomplishment because not man have over the history of his career high level guys and Paul went out and stopped him um literally like he had two or three exchanges in the first round where he maybe a guy had maybe 10 or 15 seconds of success and like you know I mean the guy couldn't walk back to this corner and then he could have been dropped with two high kicks the me as a coach as we were back working on last week it it wasn't much wrong it was a real a real good performance against a guy who's been in another with high level guys and the only guys who beat him are heavy wrestlers put them on his back and just keep them no just talking about Bobby King as well like I actually had never heard of him and like I didn't think he was that like looking at his record I didn't think he was overly impressive but like as like Bellator like they're bringing Paul in they want him to win his first fight and like if they if you look at previous people people they've they've signed a lot of them have lost their first fights and like if they want Paul to be a star they're putting him in that position they want him to win they like they want to kick off his career in in the organization with a win so like that's totally understandable and like Bobby King put it up to him so it w that one actually was a good matchmaking but like as asking yourself like how difficult is it to matchmake yeah well again it's it is very hard it depends on the on the local SC you know in the regional scene more terms of where people are at you've seen people in all the but again when you're you're bringing people in from abroad um the thing the problem is it's hard a jagger is sword because um like like if you people don't IR don't want to fight other people in irland so what do you do you bring people in from outside the country where you don't really know the r coach so it's hard like not the r coach but almost the level are fighting it you know what I mean so was like I get offered a guy for for J burs in Pakistan and brave but it doesn't sh as with just the detel and the guy is like n and0 or something like that whatever else but like who hell he fought know what I mean who the hell he for but end up this is the stuff that you as a promoter you're trying to read in between the lines and then you're going in there like like almost a a hole where going you're going to T who he fight then you go into his one who did he fight you're trying to dig to make try and catch videos on them and whatever else um but it makes my job a lot harder because people want you to bring in handy ones for them know I mean from all build their careers but we want to put on good F I think there's times where just you want to you want to bring guys in get them experience as a pro scene but on the pro scene but other team are like we need to Goble if now you've got the feet under the table Let's uh test you bit you know what I mean let's move you on the different promotion up your level because you're doing nobody any good by like kind of giving them handy ones I don't want to team have done Corners in casage conflict and my guys have won and I just went that's that was horrendous look cuz I'm stuck in the corner being the coach but also promoter hard it look for Le know I mean so like this guy four five and0 or whatever else good amateur background he's a the Italian wrestling Squad all that type of stuff and he get in get P you're like oh me he was terrible know I mean but I didn't know you literally F starch know I mean and you go on the other guys who have fall the show going he's he's concer better than I F know what I mean whenever a guy over T and what called and in the first round he was unbelievable but like I'm sure like Chris probably didn't he didn't think that this guy wasn't going to really test him that level T came back and and beat in the second round but like it wasn't like it wasn't descriptive almost know what I mean yeah it's it's a real funny one Chan though cuz obviously like you you felt the backlash from of people like some media members go like oh you're flying in these Italians and like they're you know what I mean like they're kind they working the chaper yeah like you know I mean they've been brought out lose but like like if you want to call us sp sp and some ways you are bringing them over to lose because like obviously they're fighting the guys from your gym like you know what I mean hardly bring them over to like hope this guy wins but it's t what I called um Leon Hill alexand these boys here like it's not just about our our club know what I mean um the end of course no and has to boun as a promoter end of the day it's costing thousands of pounds to bring people in if they're G to sell one ticket and it doesn't make any sense to me to to pay five or six, pound to bring a fell in the fight and you don't give a about the promotion you have to help the promotion you know what I mean if going try and get a Kickstart your career in terms of it's hard you go the cage Warriors or any any big enough shows like the want three four five and0 you know what I mean so three four five and0 we haven't got these Regional show know what I mean I tell you what there's not many uh shows in Ireland that are putting on like professional fights you know what I mean so so would you recommend that for gets to like three you know four and0 or five and0 before you give them a proper test like what what would you sort of suggest yeah well I would say but the pends the back at the PS the level right so um like a perfect example be Hy Corgan he's free and on you know what I mean so it's now it's like he's the where he's done originally right let's go let's push on to the bigger shows and hopefully that he's up 11 progresses but if he's not then that's that's the way it is we can do no more for him as a fighter you know what I mean um we let him run same as a Dan he's two and0 he's done M kid's conflict we're trying to push push him on the the bigger shows um he's got a big experience in K1 background so we have no fear of even going on any shows and again as you say the very start like we try to get him on the P that's with no success he'd be a perfect for lemons great atmosphere he brings the showe he has a big lot of eyes on him a lot of f big farm base um what I call so like one two three and know te him a mo on the levels know I mean didn't even have a proof fit Al he was supposed to have one proof fit Nal um but yeah same as anything I reinvent people's careers like if I talk like sham MC comic was come was on like a was two and one or one and two and couldn't get him back on cage War so we got him a fight in between to build his confidence back up to give him a bit of a challenge they get a they go back to little bigger show and go look listen got a a better record Will's H was here you know what I mean because think these guys just deser we we don't have nobody our Cid's conflict is other people's pellor yeah like like I've been to the show like I would say it's definitely the steadiest show um that's putting on Pro fights and like if someone ask you like about K like well you know what you're getting you know I mean you're going to get a very large of contingent of fi fighers fighting the card you're probably going to get two or three Pro fights at the top of the bill and then you're probably going to get like a really really spicy amateur fight sort of headline the amateur show like you know I mean like you know that here in L ran versus max like that probably had more eyes on it than most of the pro fights what's called that year it was brilliant and like look we have seen some like top matchmaking from um from kille like when Scott Harvey fought yankov you know what I mean like like that's a domestic scrap on the pro scene burs there been so much High Lev guys J Burns against stanka marari George Mar George No but again the am as you the scene people will take these fits but on the pro scene on Ireland like I I'll show you messages that I've offered serious money for people um the fight like like the last two shows ago before before Christmas three showes ago a and Dean guy pulled it and we offered all sorts of money for people in Ireland to fight and they ducked him they ducked him know I mean and I was going to myself like like the same guys were getting offered six times less money on other showes and and they're I was going he's serious like what's what what do you just want I mean this is ridiculous but it's I don't know I don't know I don't know what the problem is just in Ireland a lot of the Irish guys don't want to fight the Irish guys a pro level it's they all think that they can make a carea of it but again if if you're good enough you will raise it time no matter what yeah absolutely it is definitely a tricky one and like as much as like in the past you had the odd sort of lobs side of match but like also that comes to last minute pullouts like etc etc and there are the things that maybe people aren't giv credit for like at the moment like I me deck and K about it and like I think cage Legacy put on a great show but uh Conor McCarthy's fighting a guy who made his Pro made his amateur debut in May this year and he's Pro like Conor mcarthy is one of the best prospects in the country and like I just think that's wrong like I I feel like your man might get seriously hurt fighting someone like Conor McCarthy like he's got beautiful strike and great great boxing and like look obviously your man knows what he's signed up for but like I just think sometimes you need to protect these guys and it's the same with um the likes of Nicola Evanovich we've seen him be rolled out time and time again and like I understand you get a last minute pull out and uh I'm not having a dig a cage Legacy I thought when pfl did I thought that was actually far more disgraceful the size of the show that they are um like you know I mean they want to be called the co-leader and they're rolling out No7 against a three and0 gu like that's that's not co- leader to me um but like I I think like when you see that like you know I mean you the thing is I was only saying to someone today that you want to really call it l and you want to say how like disgraceful is but also you don't necessarily want to take a Payday away from someone like Conor McCarthy as well who's a nice fell and he's looking to get in there and you know do do his business but again I don't think Conor McCarthy beating that guy does anything for him like he's GNA go in there and like he could probably finish him with whatever to he wants in his Arsenal you know what I mean I just don't like understand that well I like for for talk like two shows ago the one we done for R Curtis that one there uh the guy who was supposed to fight tan didn't get his passport a whole L story lad of I mean but he let me down I end up losing thousands on flates and hotels ended up R me with a guy who had fought on the Fate project last record was a like horrendous and he's like it's g f for a couple hundred qu I went absolutely not no chance Absol Jer I don't want to bring the level ofo that I want to fight for my guy but what what good would be for teing that they get challenged know what I mean obv Conor MC such a high level amateur and ni and the professional things again just bringing him along but again where does he go he doesn't get these face that's the problem does he go to and they don't give a next he's in against maybe a local lad in England and next thing know he's like like two in one or two and two next thing I know they're going nobody nobody wants lose his sponsorships lose money lose opportunities just because he didn't get a chance to get the momentum going so it's a we bit there is within a promotional side of um the what called like building a feder yeah but I every fight should be a wee bit more or off a wee bit kind of to the fighter to progress I mean you can't regress them and you can't be giving them I don't know who the guy who Conor's fighting but I know Conor's a real good Fighter um can't just give some the Gimme because see see see the pr to like the would probably buy 00 off Conor friends and all that stuff n get be again comes with boxing all time see after two or three fights you can be fighting chol they be going foxy F you beat your man in 10 seconds so it doesn't matter so me as a promoter the last thing I want is is the fans walking out that's a Mickey M show it's all handy ones so that's a boxing you go in there s one to 10 all the boogies I guarantee now you if there's a boxing show the we again you look at the odds and I bet you're n 10 40 under 20 under 33 40 he could know I mean you can't get it's Shing because of that many journey man boxing and MMA if it continues to go like this just tions and the fers yeah I think I think it is it's one of those ones where like it's definitely it's on the promoter really and like you know me you can't you can't blame the fighter for accepting fight because obviously they're probably itching to get in there but again like maybe this is where if it was recognized better as a sport in the country there' be more more of a board of like that could step in and not regulate a fight per se something along those lines uh could maybe help in in the future but uh look like that's that's sort of what we're working towards but like who who knows like that could be another 30 years before that comes down yeah well me and D cor had a meet other day with plat had a big all a lot of coaches a lot of different people who were at the the what I called the meeting the other day and we talk about something like this in terms of like recogniz the ma clubs for match up terms of like kind of we if we feel somebody it's it's a mismatch then it won't be approved basically no they help people and help promotions um there's too many clubs that I've going on the different shows and going who the this club never heard these boys before only two con the back of a guys do MMA stick energized MMA but no one regulating it next know somebody contacts you I've got two guys know I mean right Ross will fight here for 100 quid he's fighting Pro next and you go and the promoter doesn't give a FL because he's got a fake mat it should be a regulation where you're going to their show well are they what's the credentials to be coaches have the B checked or is their their coaching criteria up there and mix martial arts standard because it brings all our clubs done when I see like all these different clubs popping up in all these shows and they're going here are these gangsters like they're just absolute idiots you know what I mean um if you look at if you look at at our show I was your Shan about most of our guys are on our show that's because we fing we've got 200 feds in the club you know what I mean there's like and we're at a point now no other um not many other shows give us any feds um a recent one was I asked a guy for you guys for the show no you guys for the show no guys for the show no a day later he starts matching my faders and then all of a sudden eight his firstand matchups are guys from his show and I'm going know what I mean and I'm going like we gotta keep 20 guys he's don't even guys but a couple here and a couple there you know what I mean we we could fill out every card all the time our guys are I get five six matches a day here me can they get me on this show can they get me on that show no because I ask for fers and they just point blank refuse let no have nobody and it's it's absolutely ridiculous and love to get our guys like I don't want to go to England P does we have we have families and kids uh things over here to look after I don't want to be going they got a fight for Ken kugan or be young James Wallace getting announced or Daman McGregor these young amateurs I i' love to have them on shows in Ireland where now as B the problem is is that like I would love to help more shows don't like a premier or K's Legacy but thing is all 19 20 years of age and you're asking them you're not asking to fight on the show you're asking them to the the fork a th000 pound of it know what I mean and that for me the one fat year to go down there it puts me in a b position because I don't want to say no because I want them fighting but I don't want also want to give them a bill of you have to get MRIs you have to be safe M registered you have to do this too much hurdles to jump through for one fight and unfortunately really crucified us bringing our guys down the sou because I would love N More and have all all our guys fighting down Sou yeah I think I think obviously uh like you're still being rocking hard place because obviously the safe m is good but like the costing is just astronomical you know what I mean like there needs to be B see the contact the contact of it of list yes have a database make sure people are have MRIs and their bloods and all then they're going they're going right 150 pound a year registration 75 P for six months oh here by the way see you don't have it in first time it's a 75 pound penalty as well and they like going theirself that's why you making this harder for it needs to be you know what I mean whye especially people who don't have jobs effectively it's like we like big py black the what call the the main doctor ke all the showes up here like he him G for set their own database up up here and they charges the guys for the exact same 25 pound a year just the whole everyone's rord on fail and then they get up the updates when it needs renewed or whatever else and I go to myself why not see it's it's the me it's meing MMA down the South so hard for younger guys and so hard to get like that's why a lot of the guys could ey off it sounds like it sounds like a moneymaking roet p well I will tell you that I'm sure gu's got a nice qu do you think do you think okay this is just a question like this could be a stupid question but most of the questions I ask are stupid do you think if more bigname Fighters fought each other in Pro earlier on their career and the events got bigger and they got more hype about them that the these sort of situations wouldn't happen or is this just a blanket thing that is just happening because it's not being talked about as much the events Etc well I'm glad you asked that the answer is no it wouldn't change okay okay like I mean a lot of people that tune in don't really know what's going on the scene they don't know who's the best out of all these guys and like I I wouldn't say I'm an absolute like black belt in knowing everything about MMA so like I mean at least that that sort of stuff comes to the Forefront and we can understand it it's such a great question because it is something that for a fan it would make perfect sense let's go and get something such against something such know I mean for toxic let's go and get te there against Max L and a pro me a promoter's dream we sell but then really in the real is D reals one of their careers you know what I mean that's that's what you get that's what people are trying to avoid at an early stage and then when the them down the lane then so be it you know what I mean like I had this conversation with um Paul foggery with jar horis against jar Burns and it was quite the the fate and I want see to be honest I want to F because I'm Fu so far the J and so we J burns like it I don't want them to lose any momentum in their careers let's keep them apart and let them gool their own ways so is so um it's a would been less interesting that fight if they didn't both have the same name [Laughter] but I not love to see you better balls absolute bar burer I as a promoter sell that D tful I mean it would be absolutely Madness but as like a like what I call a coach for me well like what what a work out for who would win and then where does that leave me if if it didn't go our way right I have night six more te to get Jed the opportunities they get only big shows like we went over this night again this is where it all happens too is don't see we went to Sweden and we were we were abely treated brilliant G over fought a guy we were in like ice Office of the promoter fcr and the guy on the wall had a footo who J was fighting on his wall I fuckus doesn't look good mate does it he Jorge fighting your man you a food on his wall and then if you watch the fight back Jed burns on a second Pro fight was taking on a real Advanced Stager and beat the absolute crap with him the com commentary on the show was so deflated they weren't even no Char again they were so deflated at the end of the second round the bo says well Zohan has to go in there and stop him his third round he's two rounds down and Jed lost by decision the third round and I think and the guy contact kept contacting me for fers I me zero chance I'll ever have any guy on your show ever again because we were we were blackbolt um J bur's night 51 six and0 is a lot more marketable than 5 And1 ABS absolutely absolutely and he he's doing incredible things over and brave um and and like we keep on saying total shot totle shot totle shot cuz like like why not like you I mean I think any promotion would love to have an Irish person there and I think that's a massive thing as well in uh in Irish ma because like as much as there's as many James and there's as many uh talented Fighters you know I mean like realistically like probably about 10 head coaches with Pro Fighters now like obviously all have p as one sort of thing if you know what I mean like there's about 10 games with like a multitude of pro Fighters and like realistic like it's actually not as big of a pool as you'd like um well not not as maybe not as you like but it's not as big a pool as you might actually think when you when you really go into it and like to me yeah yes I love the Irish on Irish violence like you know anytime as a fan you're like yes yes yes but also like you also like care about these guys and you want them to go on and do good things themselves and like you say you don't to you know tarnish their career or like you don't you know put any unnecessary roadblocks in there so like as much as the Irish on Irish violence is great it's also hard to really the repercussions of it I think you would say h probably the juice wouldn't be worth the cies on that that account do you think as you said there's there so many clubs inand but they having the professional stable there's not not many to be honest but you look at the clubs that maybe have a few maybe one two maybe three at most that's their gold and Goose they're not going to bring against the case conflict the fa the guy from fa know it's gonna be at the office regardless of the win or lose it's that's their gol and Goose you look at the bigger gyms and they're more like kind of um willing the the rule of days but again not Hest not many um like have you said to me how many guys have are offering Pro fites uh offering case conflict Pro proof fers from um Ireland there's not many and I guarantee there's not many will the another thing I do want to touch on Chando is H I'm not surprised I want to F you guys another one thing that I'm very interested is the actual promotion of uh your events because obviously you guys are a bit of a an N because I feel like you have so many fighters that like the Deon nearly sells itself they've seen the show you guys put on you've seen uh the fights that you guys put on and like you have so many fighters in your stable that like geesus if they all sld 10 tickets each like you I mean you have half the place been sold out you know what I mean um and obviously some people sell more well what do you think it's important like what do you do you ever look at some of the other promotions in Ireland and think like oh missing this or they're missing that like what advice would you give to some of the newer starter ones like you know the ones in the South like maybe premere or maybe virus up north what what a voice would you give them um well I'll tell you we do right not what they do wrong because every person's got their own Niche set up the what what I what I want is when I'm going as a fan that's number one I look I try and put myself in a position as a fan what I want to see right obious the number one veence I want to see so you always be a few absolute mad fights know what I mean like a heavy bit fight last time Bing Matthew per he was fighting was an absolute great fight but everyone loved it loved it kep a weight up a card everyone the crow up for drunk and L and guess going which it was metal so as a promoter he always had to have a few Barn burners in there even if it's not technically unbelievable but that's the fans are sitting there paying their money to regardless I mean they don't want to a lot of them don't really understand on the ground always going for noral platter they want to see two guys standing out and Slugger it you know what I mean so as a fan I try and put myself as a promoter in a fan seat what I want to number one what I want to see what match ups obv the skill and this but for a couple ones it's GNA get people going what that was unbelievable you know what I mean number two I want an atmosphere where that's why there's only better sitting and it's all standing I don't want it like a you're get in the a hall CLA and I go to off L these events and you hear pin DRP there's no atmosphere there's no nothing like shows that previously they serving food they're tables I like this is not I want people to come in here I want screens said I want the music I want a do I wanted like a n club like a n Out you're selling an experience you're not just selling fights or a day of fights like that's why we only have a Saturday it's no Sunday afternoons or Sunday nights or whatever else it's a Saturday night it's a night out for people fight in the it's as simple as it you know what you're saying up for and the m is gonna be pumping the drink's going to be flowing and there's going to be loads of vience mix them with a lot of good technical fits yeah like I I think it's important I think obviously as well from our point of view like uh I think you guys do one Wonders on the socials for your fights feel like you uh build your fights quite well I feel like you announce your fights quite well uh and I feel like on the night you get the results out quite well I feel like a lot of the newer promotions aren't as good at sort of you know hyping people up for the fight and then like also uh like on the night like I think both vires and Premier were on and like I'm not actually trying to dig the guys out because like obvious they're new they're newer to the to the game and like it's actually more like a critique to help them do better than future like I was like going through like random Fighters Instagrams trying to find out see a picture of someone get their hand raised to find out who want to fight you know what I mean like like you need to let the people at home know who won what fight to make your organization more interesting to be honest all out there is uh Chris Scott like he is like he helps us he's helped us when we first started and he he been good and he would say to me listen come up the IDE like see want us done I'll straight away I'll collaborate with so me and P corner so one of us OB both on the Instagram page one of us always accept the collaboration on the as m in between fa Corners in a row back to back but that's that's truly Chris Scot he's the man for ad like and I mean he keep top yet and because he's he think well social media he is such he's so cleared on that he knows exactly what you say what the fans want to see if they can't get the Le Fates hard I get this and he takes all that pressure of us so he is the and do you think it's it's worth having someone like that for your show like he he's probably worth every penny for years is he every like when he does all our photos we him of an idea like the idea for the next second November on real this weekend um what I called what your name uh next one is the second November kid conflict 14 there they're Reckoning so so we would have like you of graveyard field it like because it's over just past Halloween so it's it's a real good like kind of template for um our posters and again we Down Chris go like this I have this idea and he would r with it and come back to me ideas we go bom bom change us do this and then we both kind of agree on something but but it's so good because that's what it is it's about selling and experience people love their photos as well and people up you just stick a phot up on a a random picture of a no effort like it's not really good as well you gotta you gota you got to show that you're professional every part of your every every part of your journey as a promotion you know what I mean like as I know I've been with promotions and they haven't looked after me as a fighter or as a coach and I when I bring guys over or h i Haven always look after them you know what I mean so um a lot better than the bigger organizations to be honest yeah Shand I like I just piggy back off that like I do think cage conflict do a good job in it and uh roll on November 2nd cage conflict 14 like there's gonna be an award for the person with the best Halloween costume I I think just just another couple things I think I think obviously like you're like your virtues is um what is Premier Premiere like I think I feel like they're just sort of starting out like is so I feel like they can improve there is room for improvement so there just sort of things like your clown wars and your cage Legacy I think do an all right job they I think they could improve as well I think everyone could improve I think we even could improve but like I think it's just very important when you're trying to sell tickets it's very important where you make sure the collabs are all there the tags are all there the flers are like going to collab and co-promote this whether it be they sell one ticket or one pay-per-view link I think it's all very important that everyone sort of does it as a team so basically when you're signing up you're here to promote as well like I think is there also to it like Premier had a great show at K was look Unbelievable mean it looked class I was like I would have like to just seen more of it yeah a wonderful job I mean I haven't been a fresh have had failers on I mean but again like I don't know where sometimes a lot of shows feel like it's a it's a club night out rather actually um a what call and MMA promotion it's more like a club s is where it's got that feel for it where it's just maybe a few of the own guys on the show and it's not really there's not much H bir where we try and make it we try and make it about every Club unfortunately that um obviously what call we can't give as much like like I have Freddy guys ask to get on my showe then the majority of my guys going get on the showe so is um look after your own first if I get a guy from Waterford a guy from clown M it may be a brilliant fight but to be honest like many tickets are are gonna sell know what I mean so it makes more sense to me to have half of of their opponents a local guy you know what I mean even just Mark Club maybe like Danny Co Jim or Steve M JY or whatever else so you're going to get some type of atmosphere to fight I don't want everybody walking out side to have a smoker going to the bar because like if you seen that ballor show last week you can literally tell tell what fits right they'll not be like all believeable FS I mean all these FS are so but nobody gives a that's the thing that the Irish people just want to see the Irish people fight uh I just I just want to say another thing as well uh for promoters checking in like obviously myself and Ross love the Irish M scene and if you do want help make sure to reach out to us uh shando um there a few more things you want to talk about because we're we're nearly already like cutting into your sleeping time we know you need 12 hour sleep at night um we wanted to just touch on ree we had ree on there yesterday H sorry last in our most recent show uh when would you like to see Reese back out uh long answer par short answer Paris that's what we want we want Paris and like if you if if there was something like obviously this next fight is like obviously every fight is every fighter biggest fight but for this fight like what would you sort of want to do with Ree says in like um like is there anything in particular you want to improve on or like like would like would it be training more or training less recovering more recovering less is there anything you sort of change oh well releas is to be honest it's not a confidence it's a confidence Factor release like know I mean if if you see in their backstage relase in the UFC and your all that kind of the whole week up leading up to the F when he's do the p with say guys who are doing Parts like it's like he he looks phenomenal his grappling his everything is like match it's thing is confidence and momentum is so so important in this game have you seen Mori lost two of his first two fights in thec and got a win and next night's one of the best fighter people don't even remember he lost his first two fights probably on the verge he had cut know what I mean to be honest ree has had his his UFC career he's notd to against two high level guys know what I mean he went in M man Lea in Paris and he was 10 seconds 15 seconds away from stopping him you know what I mean and then he went against a a high level strike in middleweight coming down the Welter wi the first time in 10 years trying to resurrect his career who remember had Co headline two UFC shows the previous year you know what I mean so like re has been highly tried take away his first his first two face I don't I don't I don't count the first the first one ree was a child re was a kid you know what I mean he had he had he just got there on pure grit and natural Talent he is only starting to learn the last 12 to 18 months proper MMA says your career is only starting now if he I would love to see him in Paris against the guy who's starting their M career and getting on the early prelims maybe the first fight ER Road and going and just putting his hands on people and see once he gets his first win like there's no like Reese's I I want to fight foran L I want to fight him I have no CLS to beat these guys but I need to get that momentum going him to feel at home in the UFC actor going him the know he can put these boys away and that's just a matter of getting the first one over the Lan when he does that like he is going to be a different animal but again mm is everything like and REE is too ballsy for his own good somebody pH him up and says you're fighting son such here in a week's notice he a go right no problem I'll do it like he was over Spar MVP and he asked me will go Spar MVP and I went why you haven't been training you haven't been sparing and in a couple days he says I really want to and I want okay no he say do what you want but be careful because when know we going and obviously you're not really in training camp he's about the peak you don't know what energy he's going to be sping him go big Jordan was our to to overse ring as well um but again like he's just's just a scrapper you know what I mean he doesn't look like a scrapper well he does his Fe he look you beat with two PS but he he what he he's just Al anybody he Spar he'll just do it no matter what doesn't even f it he's a real like real Die Hard attitude but me sometimes as a as his coach and P's coach we have to go R but hold on let's take a deep breath here we don't like we're not g to step up last minute here the UFC because there's no point in it let's just give us a reasonable date and let's train for this date and let's hope that they're going to give us a few reasonable opponents options yeah I heard you talk about Paul saying that Paul had that real bad bad B him I think you said is that the right yeah no yeah have no idea like on the other side when Paul get for pfl and him told that obviously he was going to have maybe one or two fights on B over forand like his first two people he called out was patri pitball know I mean I want to fight him simp as that he's the complete opposite of everyone else in the show he wants the hardest fight do you think Bobby was the first name on Paul's lips Paul want F Patrick p and then call it the Mora for the Bel know what I mean so he he he just goes I'll go all and he would do it too I mean um but Paul is again he's he's he call he says even backstage before spawn any at all he just just see go his famous statement is I'm horny for violence I'm horny for violence like I I can't wait to start hitting people know what I mean yeah I think I think Ross would probably agree with this we'd like to see the the way Reese was against jimmmy wallhead we'd like to see that Reese going in next time out and then like there will be an undoubtable W coming Reese's way Ross but again because he had because he had a few fats in K Warriors he was in there as a confident fter that's all he needs in UFC but go ahead yeah yeah no well I I just think um I don't to say he's been do dir but I I think he's just had like he's the first the first stint in the UFC like obviously fought H out on like six days no that's that's a joke like if you offered every single fighter on the roster H out in six days that was now I'll say now them H and then and then then like and I don't even count that one like then he lost like a competitive decision to morona but then like he came back and he fought to Luca and like you said like Luca was like became us bolt for the last 30 seconds of that fight he was running away like there was no tomorrow and then uh and then Chi like I suppose for well like he's probably not used to fighting some taller than him as well and someone like who was like then like longer than him but it it was like an awkward fight and I felt like he he was a bit slow out the gate and you know I mean I feel like I always say to re go you know a lot of those fights would be different if you fought for five rounds yeah well is that's that's a big finger say he's a five round fter which because he's been fighting on titles all his uh last F any but like you say the first fight comes at he talk it no lose situation get himself in the UFC F fight that him for the for the kage we belt but he was an our Grappler so was going himself beat one Grappler will go to UFC and beat the P Grappler and maybe get get my foot straight in the door and they look after me the problem is that he looked after he F morono who had like think it was 13 Fates in the UFC up until that point and obviously least lost as well down the back of cage too that didn't help J F lost his wallet had to change the rules because um he make you bring two gum Shields at the because not a lot of people know it yeah it went down the it went down the the Gap yeah it was probably so it was so deep in the Gap the found po M wet too down [Laughter] there that's that's that's what he Bentley actually speak speaking of the pat m i saw yourself Paul and pop went there for dinner there the the Golden Goose question is who fought the bill uh well I actually got that bill night Val but Paul usually Tes but I I got it with my friends R so I got it um what call so it was was good I wasn't feeling too well um still not feeling too great like myself only first a back to work um what I call but yeah I was a great great neighbor always is me me what I called Paton Paul um what I call so was was good ni it was good to us he I think Paul went he left us 11 went on on some Brazilian D or something he was G some he's talking about Brazilian D I don't know what Capa I don't know I don't know why I don't know he's he's something I don't know he said something about Brazilian DS maybe I've got it wrong I don't know maybe man you're absolutely out in Paul he's going to be he's he's going to be on Dance with the Stars next season answer question what's it he's trying to get on the pleasure boys is he uh just a couple of more people we wanted to discuss uh briefly with is shando right uh Patty mcui is on this season's uh The Ultimate Fighter um like like Patty's have to come back now obviously all the results aren't out I'm sure you know exactly what happened but uh what's he like since he's come back from his trip to Vegas oh no he's he's P plan he's he Spar down all he was up last night he probably as well P just taking over obviously can't do with no the skill in terms of it'll be September before we can fight every game of partty regardless of how the show plays out um tired in the contract so we're just kind of taking partty over and putting Sol muscle on because obviously is Middle it he was walking 85 kilo when he beat when he sorry when he foughts web that he was beat that night the big the big issue for us was he he had two nles the night before we and 85 Kil was 102 kilo so now the H is putting muscle on him and obviously home of skills um but he's still a young lad he's grown into his frame now he's about 102 kilo 103 kilo s now his head's about 45 Kil of it to be honest but he he don't it's think get his real even over and he realize that yeah what I call that um he's able to take everyone on the word like there's nobody there stuff he's not there no great to see when you when you get a call like that obviously he's young in his career was there any hesitation about it or is just that's an opportunity too big to turn down no I didn't but PTY like PTY is only D is immaturity in terms of he's still young you know what I mean um so like it was a win-win for us go and whatever I think put in your car for mot if he get if he gets beat then we'll come back and we'll work on what need to work on but end the day it doesn't go in your record it's an exavation fate and um what Also let's go on know what I mean um again I say numerous times like PT said the start of the year the word the year is time it's time to go these people and because they're not they're not all what you think they are know I mean building people up to be some typ Superstars or they doing these mod train think have you seen when I'm backstage in the UFC and watching these actual UFC Champions do workouts you're like going help me like against most of them like not that that's the case or whatever else but like like nobody Blowing Me Away going he was he was he's he's good that guy or I'm going like I put anyone against the last time we were over in the UFC I said that the P say I would put big Jordan against any one of these people in this this war room now have no CL of putting big Jordan in and he beat every one of them you know what I mean it's it's just because I know Jordan mentally has matured they that's where where party needs to be at he needs to go in go on like look I'm in for this that's that's go you know what I mean where Jordan is at that level so P's a bit younger and he's kind of getting that level skill level is second he's one of the most skillful technicians or is we have and I've ever seen like to be honest would you send Jordan um or Patty Offa Jordan do the O and then he'll come back to New Man e still own see if it makes you a better person helps you in your life it is it is what it is I mean if it's doing whatever it is um I'm a great believer do what you have to do to get yourself in the right physical state you know what I mean oh 100% agree 100% correct I just I just think we laugh that cuz like that was the biggest curve ball we've ever got in the show like that that that was wild but like Jordan's actually one of he's actually one of the most lovely down toe people that you ever meet he really is and like and my God is he a dog he like that that fell has got a Rott Wier in his heart like he's got the dog and on that like like and if any he's too much a dog what I'm trying to do is I'm TR to hold the dog back and get the get controlled aggression rather than just all in aggression so sometimes he's willing to get a a mad fake that he forgets that he's technically better than the people know what I mean so is and they get they get like part is that I want to get that he's so technically good that sometimes he forgets to be a dog where he can't be a dog I mean get just he's one like he's an our PO he he's he's evil to like with done a h last year in one who if you were in a fight in the middle of the street name the the top three guys with legim you have on your side you would ring first and py mccu was number one everyone's list because when when he's like never watch the film the town and your man P Affleck comes in and he goes do he want to know nothing that's cool let's go and get them that's P mcy you don't even have to ask anything what you're going to do who you're GNA see what's involved he has your back like know what I mean yeah just a couple Nails just a couple more people I want to touch on on here as well shando uh tan Lan he's back in August and also shout out to tan his family and we Sorry here about the pass of his granddad as well um but on cage Warriors it's OB to come back uh we know that mat Elliott is already booked like what other Fighters should the people tuning in now be expecting to see in the next cage Warriors either London or the Manchester card well we were trying to push me and put for them two shows was OB Scott Harvey um sha mccomic and big Jordan and Matt obious so wanted four on them cards we were supposed to go to China with J burns are brave the end of July but they announced last week that they're moving till nth of August which doesn't work for us because George best man at his brother's wedding on the 10th so logistically it didn't work out for us just have the wedding in China exactly GE I swear to God he was he was sending me flates from the AR School in the War in China get back to Belfast I like that means you have to fight 2:00 in the afternoon over there to get home it's 12 and a 12 and a half hour flight as it going to like you're he's just he doesn't think in the same level as the rest of he's so funny like I mean but um but they move that back any we couldn't do that F but up to now as far as we know that um none of the boys are are going to get matched they're going to be September maybe in Scotland or Glasgow Maybe L shows but have match on them ones is is M okay well we'll be making sure to give everyone all the update news Shand the last thing I want to finish on is obviously Ryan Curtis we were seeing walking like I know he was using I think it's called a zimmerframe if I'm not mistaken like where is he now Columbia he is in Texas now oh he's in Texas now like like just seeing like like we're not going to get into everything about this but like just seeing from the injury that he had to where he is now like like what way would you describe that it's def like you know when you put yourself that situation like when when I went in the hospital the day after the operation and see I broke down and I came back to my family home and after being all day in hospital the same and I couldn't literally just cry me eyes at the whole time just seeing such a person you care so much for being so vulnerable in that position and not hearing the stuff that the doctors and the surgeons were saying that he was never he'd be looky to even set up straight again he'd be looky to the best casear he'll be able to be in a wheelchair uh it was actually heartbreaking it really was heartbreaking and and then to see his mental ability to overcome all these the kind of adversities and people ruling them out you know what I mean we never Ru him out I mean I remember stand in the hall with his big friend Dylan one his best mates saying don't listen I mean hard of people know people don't know who ran is and what he can do and he's proved everybody wrong not us because we knew and we hoped obviously that these progressions would happen but like everybody in the medical terms are just blown away B and um like obiously he's over in he was over in Columbia getting a stem cell treatment he's now taxes doing advanced rehabilitation and then um we'll see what happens when I get back but like it's m BL just before he left um P go to Columbia and he was he was frame walking up the the hall um and I gu like oh man this is like you're not going to get any worse it's all going to be better from this like it's like a snowball next you be walking the frame next you be walking faster next be going upstairs and downstairs and it's just going to Snowball the momentum of your your progression but um like no matter what have you said you can't do something he he'll he'll prove you wrong and that's that's where I see his future um I talked about this the other week he's seeing like May I mean the old work I what what is work work is what CL brick land every day that's not work work is whatever way you want to make money and way you can prect your family so he can be doing like you know talks or R and doing motivational speeches or stuff he wouldn't know what he get do because like there's so much people that are F the r and so much people that he is inspired for his story his progression like like if he he is built different and he will have he chooses that he will have a very successful career and he will have a full recovery in my eyes one day he'll be back on the mats maybe not competing but he'll be able to doju or kicking pods hopefully down M and all dur DCA there are so much it and I'm looking forward to in six and 12 months time where he will get to you know what I mean I I I actually have been so blown away by Ryan Curtis on so many different levels not only on like the physical level of what actually happened to him and where he is today that alone is incredible but like the man's mental for Sho like when people say I feel like the term like people go oh he's built different he's built I feel like people say that but like I actually don't know if I know someone as mentally tough as that guy like to go what he's gone through and then like the personal Heart Take on the other side like he's obviously having you know people around him like like let him down when when he need the most and they left him and stuff like that and like he's come out and said that himself so that's not breaking news or anything like that um and like you know for those closes of you to let you down when you need the most and like thing is like he's never ever played the victim card and like a lot of people would in his scenario and I've seen people in his scenario play the victim card he is not he is an absolute inspiration he is like s like a beacon of light and a Beacon of Hope for people who have been his situation and I I think I've heard I think we've had a conversation with ree I think H I've heard P you say like I feel like he'll be up on stage doing TED talks to people tell and tell tell his story I think he he is going to come out the winner in in in that fight he's gonna he's gon he's gonna leave the fight H fight with that injury and he's gonna get his hand raised definitely 100% And I think is he's probably the same say is T too who' win the FY Chan though who who would back I don't know the two have a very vgar language on them to be honest absolutely and that's the other thing like the the personality of that guy has is is so infectious you know what I mean like you just know like he he like I remember H ree was headline in cage Warriors and there was there was a vlog or something th and then Ryan CT's there slack him saying you're looky I let you fight on my card you know what I mean like just like he's he's so funny that's
