Diana Joy the Okay, here we go. It's time. Okay. What's going on, guys? And welcome to a brand new episode of Energize, brought to you by Oric Kings Competitions. Ross, are you intoxicated or something? How are you doing today, Rosco? Man, I'm doing unreal. Ireland went two for two at the weekend at UFC London. Things could not be better for Irish MMA. H great domestic car as well at Clan Wars. And yeah, to top things all off, we got a bit of Cage Warriors action as well. Like what a weekend of MMA that we got to witness Basmo. Were were you were you impressed and are you happy with the with the runner results? Yeah. Do you know what? when you started off there, I thought you were talking about the Irish football team winning twice, but yes, we did go for we did go for two for two in the UFC. And that's the thing, like Irish MMA is on the up like as we can see as well like with the likes of Cage Warriors come back to Dublin soon. Like that card is absolutely stacked with the next wave of Irish talent as well. But um I think as you said UC London came Laran got the win, Shauna Bannon got the win and the Irish MMA scene were very energized. Ross and Sean Brady and Shawn Brady. Three for three. Love it. Love it. But yeah, and Lonnie Lonnie Kavanaaugh as well, Ross. Yeah, Lonnie Cav as well. Like you only have to have a hint of Irish blood in you getting your hand raised this weekend. Um yeah, so uh UFC London, we've been to many of them before, Baz. Um it's a an absolute staple in the UFC calendar at the moment. Um Dave Shaw did a postfight interview afterwards saying that like they like to come to the UK twice a year now. That's sort of like set in stone, but you know, they're looking at different um different European venues sort of in 2025, 2026. But it would be great if the UFC came to Europe that little bit more, Baz, wouldn't it? Oh, 100%. Just even the time zones, like the way it suits us is brilliant. Um, like just even watching UFC London over the weekend, it brought back so many good memories of being over there and like uh like remember even the first fight last time we got to see Cage Side. Yeah. Oh, it was absolute blast. Got to see Veronica Hardy. Yeah. No, it would have been funny if it was this time around and then we got to watch the Guran fight and they got thrown out for Kale and Sha's fight. It's like get out of here lads coming. That that would have been so funny. That would have been so funny. But look, it was it was a star set sudden event not only on the card but off the card saw Lee Teru there, Jose Mourinho there. Um I want to say GFC Europe put up a picture of being like I was like is that Wesley Fana? And it was I was like I was like what a random person to show what I think the English rugby team were there. So, uh there were there was uh plenty of celebs in the building, but uh that's what happens. You know what I mean? When those events are few and far between, you know, the celebs make sure to get out and uh and see them live. So, yeah, I suppose we'll we'll get into it there. Funny that you touched on that Guram fight there. What did you make of his corner, Basmo? Depay both in his corner. That's that's as star as it gets, isn't it? It is, but uh it's probably not a winning formula, Ross, is it? No. Well, no it's not cuz Gurama didn't get the hand raised. Um, so look, it is what it is. These things happen. H, your corner can't get in there and fight for you. Um, but that that was the first fight night, which it's always nice to sort of have a fight to sort of wet the whistle before you get into the fights that you're very much invested in. And then we saw two former Cage Warriors uh athletes go toe-to-toe. Uh, former Cage Warriors bantweight champion Kalin Leon Lran defeated Nathan Fletcher. probably split this decision. But as this this one was very close, um it was hard for people to probably score. I think the easiest round to score was the second 109 Nathan Fletcher. Um it felt like he was on Konran's back in that body triangle for an eternity. Um and he he was able to get some good torqus on the shot on the shots like he was able to create great distance. So that was the easiest from the score. Did you have rounds one and three for Ken Lram Basmo? Do you know what to be honest Ross? I I did like um I saw that Kum won the first round, Nathan won the second round and the third round was very close, but Kalum did basically the same position that Nathan had done in the second round. He did ended up doing taking the back in the third. I know Nathan like let off a few shots near the end. Looking at the post fight like stats, Nate, he hit more strikes, but um I think from watching it, K had won. And in fairness, like we had had Nathan Fletcher on a load of times in the last few years. Uh we'd be friendly with a lot of people from Team NextG. Obviously Kalin is one of our favorite fighters as well. And uh this is a rematch. And being absolutely fair, I thought Kale won it. Yeah, I actually thought the same. I thought like, yeah, round one I definitely was like, right, I think Kayn won that. Round two I think was as we touched on the clearest of them all. And then I think round three, look, if some people gave it to Fletcher, like that's I'm not I'm not going to say like that's absolutely joke. That's terrible. But the way I had it scored is I had it scored for um Ken Lock. That that was just my personal take on it. Um I I suppose like you touched on it there like when the stats show like obviously the second round was by far the clearest round so it's going to show a massive amount of strike differential for um Nathan Fletcher but like just to read off like the stats from the second round it was like 20 strikes to three in terms of significant strikes but like in terms of overall strikes Ken Rakaran landed 24 Nathan Fletcher landed 20 in round won and in the final round Ken Rakhan landed 27 and Nathan Fletcher landed 30. So like razor close to be honest. Yeah, I think that I think the the grappling was the biggest uh biggest difference here. I think uh Ken Lran had three minutes of control time and in the third round and two minutes of control time in the first round. So I think like being able to get on top and uh implement your game plan and land the damage from those positions. I think uh that's what got got him the win. Yeah. Also, I felt like it was going to go through a split as well. And Bisping wasn't very complimentary towards Kalin in the fight as well. And the commentary can like like it definitely swayed the people at home. See, I watched on mute. So, cuz I I I was co-watching Clan Wars at the same time. Um so, I watched on mute because I was like, "Right, let's let's try for that exact reason." And I was like, I want to score this fight myself, per se. Um, and Bisbing is English as well. So, um, big time. Big time. And look, Kalin got the job done. Um, I think a great potential opponent for him. Next is um, Iliot's brother. Um, Alexander Tapora. I think why not? I think that's that's what Kalin's looking for. He's looking to take on these people with sort of the names and the storylines and he's quite good at picking his well for his call outs, you know what I mean? Uh, you know, another one that is sort of people touched on Payton Talba could be a good fight for him. Um, Rail Rose Jr. and I think Cameron Simon and him have had a lot of back and forth. So, like he's calling out people who he's had back and forth with and he's also calling out people who bring value to his name. Yeah. Um Kan said after the fight as well that Bisbing didn't ask him who did he want next. So that was a big opportunity lost on Yeah. because of what Bisbing did. And then um he seems to be a bit bitter with Bisbing h cuz uh he said uh on Twitter or X as the as the kids call it uh that uh he watched the fight back and if you mute Bisping he won't clear two two rounds three. Yeah. Wow. The the thing is that that win for K as well. He was saying how if he had went one and three in the UFC, he was probably going to let get let go. Um this also being a rematch and having lost to Nate before, it probably feels like he won twice. Yeah. Well, it's a huge win. Like that's that's that's what he needed. And like at the end of the day, like going one and three is is never ideal for anyone. And I think this fight he was a a must-win for him. And he got his hand raised. And you know, you can always sort of fault the judges and say that, you know, people weren't happy with, you know, the scorecards, but again, like that's that's out of his control. All he can do is he can fight his fight and he got his hand raised. So, you know, delighted for him. I think he he really need that. And I think like that'd be a massive relief mentally as well for him. You know what I mean? And also just going to put it out there, first time he had Tyrion Lran in his corner in the UFC actually cornering him. So like maybe Tier Lran is the winning formula, you know. Yeah. Well, Tier Lran did say morab him in the third round. Yeah. So there we go. There we go. Maybe that's a magic formula. Yeah. Maybe maybe Guram should have had Tan Lan in his corner. There you go. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah, man. Like, look, look, we've had Kan on the show a lot of times promoting them here. People have like different opinions on them, but um a win another win in in the octagon for the Irish MMA is always absolutely brilliant news and that's why we enjoy covering the sport. Yeah, always been a massive fan of them as well. Yeah. So, uh let's see what happens next. Let's see if Kalin calls out Bisping next. Um I thought this was the by far the best looking we've seen uh Shauna abandon in uh in the UFC. I felt like she looked very comfortable in there. Um I was shocked actually Baz that two of the judges actually gave round one to Tomar. Yeah, I heard that post fight. I was I was actually surprised because I I honestly believe Shauna had controlled the octagon. Um I remember she Patty said after the first round that there she was like did I win that round? Patty's like you won two rounds for that kick but which I thought was very funny. But uh no I'm very surprised with that to be honest. Yeah. Yeah. So am I like if you take like the key uh criteria to be like damage like you know what I mean that like side kick to the face like that absolutely snapped her head right back. That was the most significant uh strike of the of the round. And to me it was very very clear that uh Shauna won that round. And like just in terms of actual strikes like Shauna Bannon landed 43 strikes and Tomar landed 24. So like I don't know where they're going with that to be honest. That was terrible judging in my my opinion. But uh I suppose we'll move on to round number two where Hold on. Is that Is that the same judges from the previous fight as well? I I I can actually have a look now and tell you who the judges were cuz um like the judges were great for K. Terrible for Shauna. Oh, it's not actually Oh, I'd have to go on to like a different website to find out who the judges were to be honest. Um, sometimes is sometimes I think it might tell you on the on the website, but um, give me a minute and tell us this, but Baz, tell us what what was your take on round two cuz that's that's where the fight got really tasty. Yeah. Do you know what? Like that was just uh like as you know yourself, we're so invested in the Irish fighters and then having Shawn on the build on the show in the buildup to that fight. Just the way like Tomar was hitting she actually like she actually blasts people like it's almost like she's like the topia of uh the women's the women's division and um the way by the way three different judges for both fights. Okay. Okay. That's interesting. I would have thought just because in the Irish scene it's like the same judges all night. But uh so how many judges do you think they have on the like there all night on the roster? Like would they have what just two three four five six Yeah, it seems to be a lot of like sort of a it seems to be from what I can see a bit of a I go you go system. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Oh well that look that keeps them fresh. So that would have been their that would have been their second fight. Probably probably similar to the referees like bit of a you know I mean sometimes there two refs a night sometimes three refs tonight. Okay. You learn something new every day on the End show, don't you? Uh look when Shauna got that that head kick landed like it looked like she was out when she was on the ground. It looked like the I think even one or two of the punches afterwards like might have put her out as well. Yeah. But it looked like she would they woke her back up as well. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Like it was oh my god. Like my heart absolutely dropped when I saw her hit the deck. I was like oh my god. And then the way she like got the armbar and then like sort of had to like she had to change position. I was like oh that's that's done with now. And then when she got to finish oh my god the car absolutely erupted. Ross. What were you like? Yeah I thought like it looked like she got the got an arm bar like position locked in and then it looked like Tomar was going to get her elbow out of there. And I looked at one side say Tomar did get her elbow there. Few readjustments and then Shauna, you know, obviously secured the armbar, got the tap. Unbelievable stuff. It was one of those heart in your mouth stuff. I was just hoping I was like, I hope she has her in this arm bar long enough to sort of get her wits about her type of thing. But uh she she seemed very composmentous then when she got back to her feet and celebrated the win. Like it wasn't like she was, you know, on shaky legs or anything after the fact. But uh what a performance by Shauna Bannon. Uh I think she really needed that also. Uh I think she's a fighter who you know builds off confidence and that's going to be huge confidence for her and again like I'd love to see her out there you know thrown out there again somewhat soonish enough like you know what are we now March, April, May, maybe June and to see her back in there again. I think she's an absolute phenomenal athlete and like every time now she steps foot into that octagon, she breaks a new record for Irish MMA. So, she is an absolute trailblazer. Every time she wins, she she'll have the most wins out of any Irish Irish female. every time she fights, she'll have the most fights out of I any Irish female, you know, most submissions, most knock whatever she does from now on, she'll set she'll she is she is the new uh she is the bar in terms of women's MMA in in Ireland at the highest level. Yeah. You know what like uh fair play for reminding me for that because with with the win it was so oh my god that like I didn't even think that that was like writing history how how historic it is. Yeah. Yeah. Ros, just like just on the submission, what what was the key thing that Shauna did in changing position there? Yeah. So, just just with the arm bar just it was key not to let uh Tomar get get her elbow out and um obviously at one stage Shauna inverted and then sort of went half belly down, got the arm there. Obviously, Tomar's arms are quite short, so it's probably easier for get them out. So, uh really really good arm bar by, uh Sha Bannon. Very, very impressive. Um, obviously she she's working on that jiu-jitsu and as she said in some of her post-fight interviews, she's not just a kickboxer. Um, she's got the skills to pay the bills. Sure, she's training under Patty Hulan who's a black belt. So, she she knows what she's doing. Also, Carrie Rooney in her corner, another black belt, you know, I mean, and just great to see. I'm sure you know the the likes of Kyle Sullivan, Erin, Dean Abbya, Amy Scully, etc., etc., were all delighted to see Shauna Bannon get a win like that that that that's really really important for them as well. Um like obviously if if you're the only female from any nationality and if you lose a few fights you know it's sad but the perception then is like people from that country aren't good if that makes sense. So like obviously if she wins there's a higher chance of those getting signed to the UFC because people go, "Oh, that other Irish fighter is good." So therefore the other Irish fighters who aren't in the UFC must be good. And that's that's what's needed. So Shauna Bannon 50k in the bank as well. That was absolutely like her and Patty H. I don't know if you saw in her Instagram stories like watching watching Dana announce the 50k bonus was uh such a heartwarming moment. Obviously, you know, she had the little electro in in the cage, the Lego figurine that was her son's as well. Um, so look, obviously she's an absolute phenomenal athlete. She works very hard and she seems to have such a good circle around her. Like everyone seems to really like sort of work towards her goal with her, you know what I mean? Like great friend group, great family group. And also then like not to even mention like having a J in her corner is obviously something that like must be like they're lifelong memories that you'll never forget. I mean Yeah. Captain Sean abandon and that's the thing like you have to think about it. um like if you if you play football per se and like you make it professionally and just say you play for Man United or whatever like you can't really just bring your dad on on the coaching staff if you know what I mean like and have him on pitch side. So like for her to have her dad who is a lifelong martial artist himself be cornering at the highest level in the UFC like that must be pretty special for him as well. Yeah. No, it's not. It was It was a special moment just like for everyone involved. Absolutely. Absolutely. And two two wins in a row for Irish and May as well. Yeah. When was that? Yeah, exactly. When was the last time that happened? It's definitely been a while. I actually can't remember. UFC Dublin maybe. I don't know. Like it's been a while, but uh it was phenomenal to see. Phenomenal to see. And like I like to see her fight someone like uh Carolina Kavich next. Like realistically she's in her late 30s this day. She's at the tail end of her career. A nice name for and a nice scalp for uh Shauna to fight. Someone who's a former UFC title contender. I think that's like a great fight for her to take next. Yeah. And then even in the buildup to the fight as well, Shauna was pushed a lot. Like there's star power. Like Shauna is a star. like it just like a very lovable character. Yeah. like she just really is a star and stands out a lot. And um like it's going to be interesting to see what happens next. Like like I know she took that massive head kick like how much damage that cause after it didn't seem to really affect her once she saw that 50 G's but uh like when she's back out again everyone's going to be tuning in again cuz like there you go. Like I feel like when you're a fighter in the UFC like once you get a finish like you feel like you're there like you know I mean you like you're you're part of it like you're really you're meant to be there. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. And if you look at the current crop of UFC fighters who are Irish, I actually think it's only Shauna Bannon, Ian Garry, and Conor McGregor who have finishes. So, like she's a part of an elite crew. Yeah. What about Sean Brady, man? Sean Brady, baby. Yeah. I suppose we can touch on him now in a minute, but uh is is there like obviously we can go straight to the main event, but is there any other fights on the card that you wanted to discuss or want to talk about? It was more in the buildup to the to the event like my bias goes straight towards the Irish fighters and you want them to win. And then looking at the card, I was sort of like some fights I'm interested in, others not so much. Like the likes of Buchen versus Duncan was a fight I was really looking forward to. Um, what else? Gunner Nelson against Kevin Holland to see what Gunnar was like coming back. And the main event was like interesting, but I wasn't like dying. Wasn't mouthwatering, put it that way. No, I don't think it was um sold that greatly by both guys. I think I I don't think Leon is uh like Leon obviously former champion, but I don't think he really sells a car greatly unless he's like fighting an opponent who's really trying to take the piss out. Um very nonchalant or something about it. Yeah, I don't that's he's just not a not great in the mic. And um I think it's really important that you are great in the mic like like he's like where where Shauna is just like exuding confidence every time she touches the mic and everyone wants to get some of her time. Um Shauna is almost so real on the mic that you're like she almost instead of answering the question in almost like a pure trained way, she answered the question as herself if that makes sense. Remember at the end she goes after she won as well. Yeah, she sort of laughs laughs as a as she's going through the interview. Like she's she's a good conversationalist if you know what I mean. As opposed to Leon a lot of time looks like he's doing his job going there to do do the media. H not all the time now but but sometimes you can tell the media probably wears on him a bit. Um but look, he seems like a more quiet and reserved guy like personally than uh Shauna would. Um I I think one person we need to touch on um is uh Meatball Molly Macan. She uh laid her gloves down in the octagon. She retired. Um I think as much as a trailblazer Molly Macan was inside the sport, I think the work she does outside the sport as well um really has cemented her legacy as such a a massive character in the space. Um, massive for MMA in Liverpool, massifer women's MMA in the UK, you know, ca former cage warriors champion. I think she was the first English woman to win a fight in the UFC. Like, she has been an absolute trailblazer and uh I hope she still gets a lot of spotlight within the media and I hope we can see her doing plenty of content. you know, whatever she chooses to do. So, like I know she's got a restaurant as well and like even everything wished her good luck before the game or before the match and like I think that's that was pretty cool. Um, and I love to see her continue to be ambassador for the sport and you know an ambassador for the Liverpoolian region, the Scala region one might say. Yeah. Do you know what the way the UFC are pushing Molly with Shauna, I I feel like the battling has been sort of passed on. Yeah. And like I wouldn't be surprised with that as well. I think um you know obviously um those two have done a lot of training stuff together. Um two real sort of salt of the earth uh human beings. So long long may uh long may we continue to see Molly on our TV screens and long may um you know Shauna's Roy continue. Um yeah, ma um massive moment for her in sport. I I think her grabbing that belt from around the octagon at uh UFC London before will be a moment that lives on in fans minds forever. Um yeah, so like that was one that I definitely want to touch on. Um obviously there was like massive domestic straps like you know Nathaniel Ward uh beating Morgan Charier um quite decisively that was huge. Chris Duncan obviously as he touched on earlier got the win over Vuchenich like they were two fights I was definitely looking forward to. Um Mick Parkin couldn't get over the line against Toria uh which is unfortunate. Lonni Kavnik continuing to assert himself as a uh a force to be reckoned with that fly since entering the UFC. But um one thing I will touch on is um there was a hilarious moment where Gunnar Nelson had um Kevin Holland sort of Kevin Holland almost had like a somewhat of an plata in on uh Gunnar Nelson, but Gunner Nelson like lift him up off the ground and they were just hanging midair having a conversation for about 10 seconds at one stage. It was uh very very funny just uh funny to see two absolute like polar opposite characters uh in the octagon at the same time. Uh massive win for Kevin Holland there getting a win over Gunn Nelson. Um Carlos Olberg he's probably one fight away from a title shot after beating Yan Blovic. Again like bit of a a scorecard that could have went either way. Um and again sort of you know varying scorecards across across the board. Uh different judges scored rounds one and three differently. So that's interesting to see. But uh Sean Brady Baz uh silence the London crowd getting the hand raised over Leon Edwards. What did you make of that man? And tell us this like what's next for Shawn Brady going into the fight. I thought Leon would win it just based on it was a change of opponent. He was originally meant to fight Jack Del Madalena. Um when Shawn Brady lost to Blah Muhammad, I was sort of like maybe Shawn Brady isn't that guy. Then what he done to Leon, particularly in the second round, I hadn't seen before. Like obviously Leon's fought wrestlers before uh Camaro man, Kobe Coington and they in the buildup to the fight people were saying that these guys are a different level above Shawn Brady's wrestling but in that second round it just really cemented that I think Leon is not going to be a title contender in the future. No, I was listening I was listening to M Guru. I was listening to M Guru and then he was going through Leon's record and he was sort of saying Leon's biggest win is probably against Kobe Coington. Um well Kamar Kamaru man as well but then he was looking through Kamarman's record being like the best people he's beaten was like uh Coington twice, Masidal twice like he was sort of downplaying their records or maybe make making people really look and see who have they actually defeated before. But um I just I just think when you get absolutely dominated like that, particularly in the second round, and then being sub with one arm, um I think the tide is sort of turning. Um so what I I with Shawn Brady now, who would I like to see him fight next? I'd like to see Shawn Brady take on Ian Gary. Yeah, I'm definitely here for I think it's sort of I think I think there's only three potential opponents for him. I think uh Ian Garry's definitely a front runner. Um it'll be interesting to see how Ian Garry would deal with um Sean Brady's grappling. Um I think you know Wim Bley obviously is coming off massive win. He he's a contender. And then Usman is the only other one who I can think of but like who knows when we see Kamaran back in there. Um it's like it's like he's semi-retired at the moment. um with the way he's going. So, they're sort of um or maybe Houston goes up to 185. We don't know that yet. But um yeah, I think they're sort of the potential options, but I think it's Ian Garry for me as a front runner and then Mim Bley next. I would say h in that order. What What about What about Ian against Leon next? Yeah, I think that could be a a definite potential uh matchup. Why not? like they're both technically coming off well they're both coming off losses so like also Leon should fall down to somewhere in around where Ian Gary is in the rankings like if you think going into that Leon Edwards is ranked number one and Shawn Brady was ranked number five so who knows maybe Shawn Brady goes to two Shakatak goes up to one and Leon Edwards drops down to five maybe even drops down below Bley to six and then like sort six and seven. Um, Leon Edwards and Ian Garry. That's very much potentially what's going to happen. No, that's Yeah, that that's a big drop for Leon as well. Like I like look like I don't see like obviously all these fighters are elite but the elite of the elite I don't I wouldn't put what Keem Buckley in there and I think I just think the thing with Keem Buckley is he's like so explosive that you know he he can get the job done and he he he can finish fights and again like you know his last two fights he's sort of beating older guys you know what I mean he beat Wonderboy and he beat uh Coington So he he sort of needs to fight someone who's younger uh next up. But I think put it this way. I think what Keem Bley could fight Leon Edwards next could fight Shawn Brady. You could go that way about it. Or you could do um WE Bley versus Shawn Brady and Edwards versus Gary. I think those four should sort of fight each other next in some sort of format. It's just like Kobe comes to decide in that like top five, top six conversation. There's no one really standing out that is just great on the mic. And then you could potentially say Ian's probably the best on the mic out of them all cuz he garners probably the most attention. Like what do you think? There's definitely potential there that Ian Gary is the most I don't know what they want to say scintillating or the most um diverse on the mic. You know what I mean? Like he he's going to create opinions one way or the other. So yeah, I think Ian Garry versus Leon Edwards obviously you have the built-in like Leon kicked Ian out of the gym sort of storyline to go with, you know what I mean? So I I I think that's the fight to make. Leon against Ian. But I think Ian missed the trick by not taking that main event and then beating Leyon in England. I think that was I think that was that would be huge from especially considering he wants to get the title shot next. Yeah. So yeah and also and also Jack Dela Madena is now fighting Pal Muhammad for the title. Shavat I think is actually he's either doing I think we talked about this before. I think he's actually representing he's gone to he's joined the he has to join the army I think in for Kazakhstan. Injured. No or else was a Ramadan. we had these this well he's not he's not available is basically the point and then um like yeah but like there's there's a bit of like a I don't know no man's land like if you look at rank eight Gilbert Burns nine Kobe Cington 10 Jeff Neil 11 wonder boy Thompson they're sort of and even 14 Vincente Luke like without being like rude about it like they're guys who are like only going down in the rankings in my opinion and not going back up and they're guys who people are going to want uh chalk off on the way up. Like even Oban Elliot is trying to get a fight against one of them lads as well. Yeah, big time. So, you know, I think Oban Elliot versus I I think he's kind of Brian Battle at the moment, but I think like him versus like Vincente Luca is a great fight. The thing is you cannot deny how good Ovan is on the mic. No, 100%. But he's doing the right thing. He's getting his name out there. Like he's showing up at the WWE events, getting on the telly there as well. You know what I mean? He's uh he knows how to promote himself. Yeah. No, he's doing a great job as well. He was supposedly starting a podcast with MMA Guru. Haven't haven't se Yeah, there there's no update in that, but that was a gangster. That would actually be a good a good one. That would be a good one. Oh, I'm going to copyright that now. Yeah. Well, who who's going to be the guru? Obviously Elliot. Yeah, I suppose that sort of summises UFC London Bosmo. Um, we also had Cage Workers on the weekend. Um, Harry Hardwick defend his title. Um, it could be the UFC next for him. Mick Maynard was actually in attendance. Um, apparently um him and Will Curry had a conversation uh after Will Curry got got his hand raised um and obviously George Hardwick lost. So that that was definitely unfortunate in a very close fight. He lost 4847 and Nick Bagley got a big win there as well. So he he's sort of knocking on the door for a featherweight title shot as well. Um it's going to be very very interesting to see how things go. I wonder I didn't I didn't see him at it, but I wonder was Luke Riley at uh Cage Wires 186 because obviously he would have been in London for Nathan and Molly and just uh if he had a conversation with Mick Maynard. So I I think there's I think the Cage Warriors is on the cusp of having four or five of their top guys being signed to the UFC sometime soon. What Cage Warriors fights are you actually looking forward to in the near future? Give me three. Okay, so this is not booked, but I'm booking it. Cagewires 191 in Manchester. Adam Cullen versus Tobias Herella. Number one contenders fight. Yeah, number one contender fight. Uh, make it happen. I'm all for that. Um, like there obviously are people like Luke Gryley who you always fighting, but I'm going to assume he's going to be fighting in um the UFC next. like I'm not going to pick him. I actually think James Sheen versus Justin Burlington is one that I'm definitely looking forward to. Like I feel like it's got all the writings of sort of like uh McKe Berling Berlinson and Belfast except this time out it's Chien versus Burlington and Dublin. I feel like it's going to be an absolute war and I feel like whoever wins like could easily get signed to the UFC. So like that's one that I am most definitely looking forward to. Uh, I think that's an absolutely phenomenal fight. And then like selfishly, I'm gonna say uh Matthew Elliot versus Kenny Moana, I think having a FAI versus SPG fight, I think is uh huge for the promotion. And I think it's uh having someone who's from SPG Ireland like fighting back under the Cage Warriors brass I think is uh great for the promotion. Yeah. And Cage Warriors Dublin will be going down in four weeks, Ross. Absolutely. Absolutely. Um, I suppose we move on to Clan Wars 51. Yeah, Ross. Um, as you mentioned earlier, you were multitasking on the on Saturday watching UFC London and Clan Wars 51. Which card was better? Well, I think the Clan Wars one was cuz we were we were actually sort of best with a load of finishes as opposed to UFC was very decision heavy. Um, so I enjoyed watching the Clan Wars. Just before you get into uh lots of people are giving out about like the results in a lot of the fights in UFC saying like a lot of decisions uh how like people are spending mad money on like on these cards like and how the UFC should go different places and visit different cities like what what are your thoughts on like the backlash because because first of all Yeah. Well, I think this is coming across the board. I think like you know across Europe and America like there's a cost of living crisis effectively going on like inflation's going up everything's cost more people are still getting paid the same amount of money and you know I feel like because they come over so seldom you feel like you know you're getting a gun put your head as a fan being like you better go because you don't know when you'll get to go next time and then you go to a show and then you're wow by the UFC and then like there's that touch of euphoria to it that you're like oh I can't not go to the next one you know I mean there's a massive bit of FOMO about it. And yeah, I think like realistically I think it would be great to see UFC Europe really sort of put on more fight nights and like I remember back in the day when they used to have, you know, a card on a Friday night and a card on a Saturday night. Why can't the UFC come back and do more European shows on a Friday night? And you know, people love that Friday night fight night. Baz, am I selling it to you? European shows, are you here for it? Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Well, that's what Cage Warriors is sort of doing as well. But then like you know, I saw people were complaining that it's coming to UBC is coming to London too much and it's just like you actually don't know what you how good you have it knowing it's coming. Yeah, we haven't had Dublin in like 10 years. So like don't hating it too much. But yeah, no, I I think like um I think fight night Prague with year main event. I think that like I'd love to see what the Czech fans like the reception they give him. Um, I think like maybe him versus like Yamahovic in Prague would be huge. Um, see that Eastern European um, fanfare. Um, I'd love to see like Paul Craig maybe headline an event in in Scotland. I think like that would be huge. And like I think like get Bungard on that card as well. Uh, I think people would love to see that. Um, in terms of like the rest of Europe, like obviously, you know, if you go to Spain, bring to that could be massive. Uh, they seem to do Paris as a staple as well in sort of that September time. So, like I'm not going to say they have to go there, but I think there's like plenty of countries that you can come to. Like obviously I'm going to say Dublin as well. Um, but like you know if Dublin is an issue cuz Dublin's expensive, why not just go to Belfast and just do it up in Belfast? You know what I mean? Like it wouldn't bother me to have to go to Belfast see a UFC show. Uh, and we went before. Yeah. And look, we we have six fighters from Ireland uh who could easily fight in the card and like two of them are from up north, Kay Laran and Reese McKe. So yeah, I'd be all all for it. You know what I mean? And again, like obviously Tom Aspenal is uh the interim heavyweight champion. So like having him fight in in Manchester is always good. And then like obviously with Patty the Batty like you know if there was a an equivalent to the AO arena sort of in uh in Liverpool like that would be really really cool to see you know Patty the Batty fight there. Maybe maybe the new um the new Goodison Park. I don't know if they're going to put a roof over that but if they did like that's something you could look at. I think that would hate that fighting. I know. Yeah, but it's more it's more it's more he's fighting Liverpool like Anfield like is not going to happen cuz no roof. Yeah. So, it is what it is. But yeah, I would love to see more even um going to Holland Ditter is is on the up up and up there in middleweight as well. He's fighting B nickel neck. So like a win there and maybe do a UFC Amsterdam. I think they were saying Rotterdam's easier to do than Amsterdam for whatever reason. But yeah, it doesn't bother me like if I'm going to Amsterdam or Roderdam, it's all the same. Yeah, but like even if they went to Wales, they could do it at the Millennium Stadium. I think that's I don't think they actually like that. I know. That was the thing. But it's like it has a roof. That was the thing. Oh no. Um Well, you could do Totttonham Hotspur stadium in London again. Yeah, but if Tom Aspenol fights Jones in Vegas and wins, why not do Tom Aspenol in in Lond? That fight just needs something else, man. Like, I'm just sick of like every every every like YouTube. How many How many How many times is Tom going to tease us? But speaking of being teased, Ross, Irish MMA fans were teased with a with a great card at Clan Wars 51 and it delivered. It absolutely did. It absolutely did. I I'll probably run through some of the fight results here and uh you stop me on any stage. Uh firstly, I'd like to say massive welcome back to the Irish MMA scene to Ronan Degan. Got in there, got the TKO finish. Um he looked absolutely sensational. Hasn't missed a beat. H as the kids say, you all must have forgot. H I think Roland Degan could easily be straight in there with a ban title shot next. How much have you missed Roland Degan on the scene? No, look, it's great to see Ronald Egan back. He's multip He's represented Ireland multiple times on the IMAF scene. Um, was there was there any reason why he was out that long, Ross? I don't know. I I I didn't actually reach out to him and ask and sometimes like these guys are young so maybe they're doing college and stuff like that and they were putting the focus there or or maybe he had an injury or something something like that. But um yeah um just great to have him back because he was such a talent like he was up he was up there getting sort of praise with the likes of uh Keith Ko uh you know Jordan Bradshaw like all these guys who are like Gary Rooney's the world like all these guys who are now like a couple of fights into their pro career he was up there with those guys getting those pra those praises. So uh yeah great to have him back. He's uh he's an elite fighter and I think he should definitely be fighting for a belt in whatever organization he's fighting next. I agree. Um, next one I want to touch on was um, Saki, Simon Saki from um, SPG Drada, the heavyweight uh, had an absolute thunderous knockout h in the second round. That was that was absolutely sensational. H that was one I actually watched after the event. I went back and watched the early prelims and that was a massive win. Um, that was very very impressive. So shout out to him. Um, Nathan Taco Chambers getting the submission win in the first round against Jed Paulo. Um, that was an absolutely sensational sort of I'm going to say twominute fight. H it landed very early or I finished very early in the first. Jeb Paulo did a massive slam and then uh Paulo wrapped up or sorry um Chambers wrapped up submission very high on Nathan Chambers. I I was uh giving him plenty of praise going into the fight and uh I think he's definitely someone to look out for. And Baz, is there a gym on the amateur scene that's on more fire at the moment than SPG Nate? On the amateur scene? Well, sort of on the amateur slash new pro scene, I don't think so. Like just looking at the way these lads are training there under Peter Quley, I know Sergei is there a lot as well. Um they just they're creating absolute killers there to be honest. Um every time even like they love put up their post training pictures when they're absolutely dead in the floor. It's not one of these where they all line up and and look pretty, you know? It's like we are dead here like come and join us. And there is there is like even the younger talent that's coming through. Like I know that the lads are young, but they're like even the teenagers that they're bringing up now are looking like are looking to like move in and fight even more. Um even looking at like um Sergey's son Albert like like he is going to be making a scene. He's going to he's going to he's going to shake up the scene when he starts fighting. Um Ross, ju just sorry, just touching back on what you said about Chambers getting the win there. He asked, "Was that the submission of the night?" Yeah, like for me, I think it was. I think like it was it was actually hard to tell from the angle like because he locked in the triangle, but I don't know whether he got an arm bar with the triangle, but uh it was it was definitely up there. Um you know, to defeat a a high level opponent like that so quick was very very impressive. Um and again like like you touched on like he's training with the likes of Alex Ko. um you know Brandon Blake who's a top of the range wrestler as well. I think it was actually his birthday there um the other day. Um you know Maxi Conor McCarthy you know I mean a lot of iron sharpening iron and SPG at the moment. So uh Nathan Taco Chambers he's uh really coming on leaps and bounds and I think he's a fighter who is much better than the record. I feel like the last couple of fights he's really come into his own and he's definitely caught my eye anyway. Yeah sure. You said beforehand that was the one that was the fight you were most excited for. Yeah. And like what what a round it was. Well, it lasted. It was absolutely scintillating. Um next up we had um Michael Swan win the banttomite title uh with the decision over Keane Sweeney. That was um I think Sweeney stepped in on short notice there. So uh it was quite dominant from Swan, but I think Swan versus H Degan next will be a phenomenal fight. And then the most controversial fight of the night was Peter Halpony versus um versus Re. Um and again like this is one where you know people were all over Reno Flare's or all Reno Flare's fans were all over this post saying they thought Re won. Pier help me spend a lot of time on his back. Out of the nine minutes I'm going to say he probably spent seven minutes of the fight on his back. He did try to lock in a few triangles and stuff like that. Um, Rean probably it was probably similar to uh Ryan Shel versus Matthew Elliot type. I knew you were going to say that. Um, and it was one of those ones where, you know, I could definitely see why Rean would feel hard done by. Um, I could definitely see how he felt he won the fight. But I suppose maybe a learning curve for Rean to make sure he gets a bit more damage done from the top position. Um but Pier Halpony uh super lightweight champion and you know a lot of people giving out about this one online. Uh I saw people sort of having a go with clan wars over and saying like corrupt promotion and this but uh I'm pretty sure like Peter Halpy who fights for no fear fights out no fear and team like he's not like an IFS Belfast guy. So like if he was I think that would be a bit more legitimate. Sometimes the judges just call the fight as the judges call it and that's not really on uh on uh on the promotion. Agreed. Um you're going to get people like like Re obviously has a lot of people supporting him and so does Peter. Like when we were talking about this fight in the build up to it like like a lot of people I think this was actually voted the people's the people's main event. Yeah was help me and Re both have massive support from both sides. So, uh, I'm not surprised. Um, but again, like why not have the run back? You know what I mean? Why not? Why not? Um, next up was a pro fight. Um, Kieran Mo Holland uh fought Ashley Williams, I think it was. This was a funny one because it was sort of not announced in the build to the fight. Um, Williams threw some unbelievable kicks in the at the start of the round. Um but uh you know carol Holland weathered that storm and h got the TKO victory. Um great to have caramel Holland back. Really really nice guy. Um big fan of his. He as we always say he's never out of a fight that fell. And um yeah great to have him back on the scene. Hopefully he stays active. And the final profile of the night was Damian McKenna who was submitted in the third round by uh a standing guillotine choke. big fan of uh jumping the el gilly myself. Um so fair play Damian McKenna. He's now two and 0. Um he overcame an eye poke within the first like 10 seconds of the fight. It was quite a bad eye poke. You could see from across the cage on the screen that uh his eye had gone fully red. Um so I think Damon McKenna said he was off four of the rest of the night. So um again Damon McKenna moving two and0. Hope he gets a step up in competition sometime soon. Hard to know. It's more It's more I'd love to see him fight in like an LFL or, you know, maybe get a a shot of Cage Warriors or something sometime uh soon. I think that's more sort of where I want to see him go. Um versus who? Who knows? May maybe like if you want to do a bit of Irish on Irish violence like maybe something like a a Ryan Kio versus a Damian mechanic could be good Ryan Ko with 2 and0 Damian Kenny why not um and then co-main event time Billy Suddland defeated uh Keem Marton by TKO I was excited for this one h at one stage um Billy Sutherland kicked Carton while he was on the ground in the ribs that looked extraordinarily painful. Um the stoppage led a bit of question questions to it. Uh obviously uh Deck Lark and one of the top officials in it. Uh Billy Sullen actually wrote a comment um on it h sort of explaining the finish. Um and it it was actually quite funny. He actually says uh he he takes a clear roundry. Another big shot on the nose. No head kick or shot to the back of the head. Great tough dangerous opponent. Absolutely loads of respect for Keen for taking the fight when others want more time. So massive respect between these two. Yeah, that was on short notice as well. Yeah. So um Billy Sutherland, I think he's going to make it to the pro scenes next. So, uh, yeah, I think we'll probably see his next outing on Clam Wars make his pro debut. And then the main event was absolutely, um, a spectacular grappler match between, uh, Sha Shay Lethal Le and Jamie McCerti. Uh, no doubt about it, Shay was the deserved winner here. But, uh, it was a great back and forth. Both men left it all in the cage. And, uh, it'll be very interesting to see where we see Shay next. He's obviously wellversed on the amateur scene. Hopefully maybe we see him make his pro debut uh later this year. But um yeah, great night of fights by Clan Wars overall. Um really thorable uh thor thoroughly enjoyed watching it if I can get that word out of my mouth. Um yeah, so can't wait. It sort of got me very excited to watch more Amateur and May this year. It was a good card. Plenty of finishes. What did you make of the overall production of Clan Wars as well? I think their cameras are really really good um to be honest. Um, and you know, they cover the show real um, professionally from a from an ending standpoint. Like the walkouts are all good. Yeah. I thought I thought like production wise it looks really really good. Uh, Annie Mlean was in the or Ali Mlean from Yeah. from uh, Cowbon. He was one of the commentators on card which is always very interesting. Uh he's a he's he's a a very divisive figure in the sport. Um he he's big on the socials. Um but yeah, I thought it was a good show overall. I give it a eight and a half out of 10. Oh, that's pretty good. And it was the only show live in Ireland that day. Yeah. Which was good. That's what we want. Yeah. We don't want to both be buying links to two different shows and trying to watch them at the same time. Getting like four different voices going. Oh, Blade Clan Wars. That's what you want to hear. You want to hear like good fights, great production, good fights, good nights. Exactly. Exactly. So, it was a great night overall for Irish mixed martial arts. Ross, absolutely. Um, just looking into this weekend's action, UFC is back. Brandon Moreno is taking on Steve Urs. Huge fight, Ross. And then, yeah, well, this one has Flyway title implications. The winner of this could fight Panto next. So, I've got Moreno. Do you think Moreno has he says in his bio that he's soon to be a three-time world champion in the UFC? Yeah, I think I think he has it in him to get the job done again. Yeah, I think Moreno is is better than Eric. And then uh KSI was meant to fight Dylan Danis this weekend as well, but that is unfortunately not going down. Ross, I know you're very disappointed. Is the whole car cancel now? I think so. Yeah, I think so. Yeah. Jeez, that's that's sort of crap for the rest of the fighters, isn't it? Oh no, man. Yeah. Like although the promotion for that for that fight was absolutely crap anyway. So like Danis was trying. All I got out of that was like don't tell them my girlfriend's name. Yeah. Oh, I was like I was like sad. And then the fighting Irish returned this weekend. SG SPG Corks Palahan is fighting on WOW FC in Madrid. Ross Palahan has left Combat Global and is now with WOW FC. Yeah, I I was sort of surprised that he signed for WOW FC. Like he must love that bit of um Hispanic flare. Um, now Spanish must be going. Yeah. So, but uh I don't know. I'd like to see him on a promotion that gets more regular traction. I think actually LFL will be a great fit for him, but I also think K drivers would be a good fit for him as well. So, hopefully we see him on one of those promotions next. I think maybe just the last time someone was supposed to fight on way was Lee Hamilton, then didn't find out till very late in the day that that fight wasn't going ahead anymore. So, we'll see. Yeah, that event is live on UC Pass as well. And on Sunday for everyone who is blessed to still have a mother. Sunday the 30th is Mother's Day as well. Yeah. So, uh, happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. Um, and all all all the fighting mamas. Uh, especially Mama B. It's her week this week. Um, she was she was she was the big winner of the week. Yeah, exactly. There there we have a Posmo.
