[Music] all right um thanks for uh taking this time for me sir me so I I think there's a running theme for this event this evening and I'm going to say it's like it's a effortlessness because everyone has like all all the the winners so far have in my opinion at least made everything look so effortless you know you were able to yourself ined you're able to kind of get in there and then just really make it look like you're doing things you know step by step you know this this you know and like um it didn't seem over it didn't seem like you made it overly complicated for yourself like you knew exactly what you're doing like how would you how do you how do you feel your your fight went I definitely would say it was effortless but like thanks because look good Juju should seem simple um but like Dylan was a tough lad like I was surprised some of his reactions he definitely like he's very conscious G me the back um there was a lot of things I really wanted to like try and exploit tonight that he shut down really quickly with decent movement and look I'm a lot more experienced than him it was kind of a I didn't feel like the matchup was fair to him to be honest um but look I'd rather compete than not compete like always light and fair Forks to him for taking it really good attitude on his part like but um I definitely like I felt there was resistance in a lot of places but I just took the path of leas resistance all the time you know so like and that's probably what you're talking like as in yeah not open go to what is yeah absolutely certainly not that like said that that it it was easy for you but like you made it look easy and like I said everyone everyone tonight so far that like that I've been able to witness like they all make it look so easy and you know like you said that's kind of the when j-i wise that's a good thing you know the it really definitely uh it shows that you kind of have your Technique down and that um you know what you're doing um so again congratulations on that so I guess one question is like is there like obviously like you compete at you know some of the highest levels here um like do you feel any kind of added pressure to kind of to do these types of tournaments and to still win uh when you're here yeah but I think that pressure is a good thing cuz you feel like you've earn that it's like people [ __ ] expect you to go up and smash guy like I medal at ADCC so like that's [ __ ] I think look it's a good indication of like I'm serious enough about being a [ __ ] damn good Grappler on top of being a damn good MMA fighter but like in my eyes this is like a much more this doesn't Define me so it's just a bit of crack if you know what I mean and like it's much more just like a hobby on the side of my actual career so it seems a lot more just about like enjoying trying [ __ ] like moving around having a bit of like go for that go for that go for that yeah and like to be honest I feel like given that Dylan was [ __ ] decent off shot and [ __ ] down tonight like obviously My Level just wasn't enough to like create opportunity is there which is something I want to work on a lot but like it like I would have preferred to like move a lot more and like exploit [ __ ] like go for a few armbars and do a few little things and like some was just I knew that his position and his awareness was like he'll exploit this if I'm there and I don't feel like I have enough pressure to keep them where I want to um so like I like yeah I I feel like yeah there is a pressure with being in a high level MMA fighter coming in doing this [ __ ] but you've earned that pressure go and enjoy that like I go and enjoy the that like you're the guy who's supposed to show up in [ __ ] more B you know I've that like that's cool I like that like 100% um like in the leadup to this like how how do you prepare differently for you know like a grappling match versus you know like nma match obviously there's critical differences between the two you know so like what what is it that you would do differently I didn't at all man like kept like I was trying a pods yesterday like um i' like I did a lot of PS this week I actually probably did more striking training than grappling training this week but I've been around long enough that it's just like look you're high enough level Grappler that you're going to go in and smash if I was doing something like ADCC obviously I would prepare more grappling orientated but my overall goal man is to be the [ __ ] MMA fighter that's never out of the picture and especially now like you know I'm back I'm [ __ ] able to compete again so I'm just like get me that [ __ ] fight and like if the fight's in a week's time I'm ready and that's what my training this week was about this is a nice little cherry on top of like it's a nice way to finish off the week with a little bit of a competition you going you smash you win great I got a medal [ __ ] class unre ultimately the goal is if there's something coming I'm ready and that's where I'm at and like this year 2024 is going to be a [ __ ] huge year for me and like I've worked so [ __ ] hard to be at a level where I can go out and do the things I'm going to go and do it's really important for me to go and Achieve those things before I'm I'm like I'm young well I'm not young young but I'm young in my head I'm 34 I still have a good five years left in this [ __ ] man and I have a lot of things I want to achieve in those 5 years this is about getting that [ __ ] ball rolling again my last fight was a win against shot people [ __ ] forget that I'm on a 55 win streak I'm ready to go on [ __ ] smash CS Manan and I'm in the shape to go on Smash CS I'm the best [ __ ] fighter on this island and I really plan on [ __ ] show them that this year so that's what they're like you know this is the start of that this is the start of that Journey it's my first competition in 2024 I haven't [ __ ] lost in a long time man I don't plan on [ __ ] like obviously the end goal is always get better yes but really this is about like [ __ ] you on this good that's what this year is like well beand the performance you had down there definitely kind of showed that thank you know I enjoyed watching it was definely nice um your usual Corner man would generally be John obviously yet so like you know he's away in the stage at the moment you know like how how important is it to kind of have someone that you trust and that you kind of have a connection with as your corner uh you know doing you know an event like this or an m match or anything like I'll be hon like trout M I've had so many different guys in my corner had all good [ __ ] corners like you know I've Rich Quan for a lot of my flights in South Africa now I've had Ken DAV a hell of a lot over the years as well Ken corner in Bulgaria and a lot of other places obviously John's been a consistent staple but like ner has cornered me in ciff he's cornered me for a lot of my grappling tournaments ner is probably the coach I work with most ing right now and like he's fantastic I [ __ ] love the way n transship man you know a systematic way of like here here here understand this system understand what his options are in every position it's very like you break things down on a technique by technique level to incorporate it into an overall base of knowledge and I don't feel like man or anywhere near as good at he is at he's he's very good at breaking it down like he he's got that uh like that explain it to me like a 5-year-old down like he knows exactly how to do that and in a way that then incorporates it into the rest of the knowledge base you already have yes which is [ __ ] unique as in my experience that's unique and you can feel that like wow if I keep doing this week after week after week all of a sudden everything comes together much easier and I like I'm a demonstration of Nar I was a 30-year-old jiujitsu guy wasn't that [ __ ] good I just met l to see like and like look My Level has a [ __ ] long way to go I understand that but like look at what happened in four years of [ __ ] really good Jiu-Jitsu training and arious and like I'm I'm proud to represent that you know all right um so uh I always like to talk about like signific is a walkout songs and I I wasn't expecting that and I really enjoyed the the the Darth Vader there does that have like kind of like a yeah you I'm the bad [ __ ] man you like playing that character or no it's just like this has been the reality of what my career has become that like I was trying to achieve something really positive to martial arts for such a long time that's kind of all G to [ __ ] I'm the bad guy [ __ ] embrace it and I'm [ __ ] not like I and look I have my own Journey I've got everybody in this [ __ ] life has gone through their own [ __ ] experienc their own personal tragedy some of mine has been pretty [ __ ] obvious and like you know I got elbow in the back of the head 17 times in South Africa yeah there was no little pity party there I got [ __ ] beaten in a fight Germany in lockdown with a guy who was like [ __ ] twice my size nobody threw me a little pity party I [ __ ] remember those things I [ __ ] feel the burn of those things I got this [ __ ] kicked out Me by Norbert nen [ __ ] the 10,000 my own fans one night when I was like on the up all of that's in my [ __ ] soul yeah yeah it's gone bad I've gone bad this shit's [ __ ] happening now and I'm going to [ __ ] murder people because of it like and that's the reality unfortunately I personally I love I love that mentality you know and it's certainly good to kind of embrace that uh kind of that that Darkness um [ __ ] that's what it's become like uh look here a couple more questions here one of them I know kind of hit I just previous here like how Combat Sports in general how has that kind of how's that changed your life how's that improved you as a person massively I think adversity is [ __ ] so important for building any sort of character I'm like obviously competing in martial arts is that and like you can talk all the [ __ ] you want but like be a demonstration of what you are as in you can be regr being a not compete martial arts at all but for me that vehicle like are that [ __ ] Avenue of like self-improvement and like having the level of like you need be disciplined if you're going to do this and discipline is an important factor for all sorts of character building so this just instills that level of belief in your own [ __ ] discipline and then when you understand I can achieve through this you can achieve through other things I [ __ ] up a lot of [ __ ] in my life as well though like so like I don't want to be like some guy who's like oh no martial arts made me [ __ ] perfect no not at all but like I think I've like I've definitely gained an appreciation for the fact that I can overcome adversity through this [ __ ] and that's huge and then like also I just [ __ ] I know a lot of really good people through martial arts and I'm really happy about that so it's done those two things for me definitely yeah that's awesome man all right now and right actually we'll leave it here um if if you had to kind of give if you had to tell some like the public about you know kind of one thing about Combat Sports um you just to get one point across uh what what would you want that to be what would you want that point to be if you want your son to be a [ __ ] functional happy human being don't let him fight an MMA you heard it here first there you go okay all right hey look man I really appreciate your time and again congratulations I look forward to your next fight anything you do man I'm looking forward to this year for you cheers all right right man thank you very much thank [Music] you
