[Music] [Applause] okay what's going on guys welcome to a brand new episode of energized ross introduce the guests man we have one half of the cage warriors world flyweight toilet fight it's luke the apocalypse shanks luke how are you doing man a brilliant man yourselves brilliant man can't complain half half the arsenal start where did the apocalypse come from what a nickname yeah i was actually the first time i was i was actually called the honey badger as uh because i was just a little fearless animal but um yeah i i've seen too many fight shows and there was too many of them so yeah i just thought what's better than that um something world ended so yes the apocalypse and then and then and there was also whiplash yeah also where where'd the mask fit into this as well because that's actually a great thing as well that a cage warriors actually like really push people to do yeah yeah so um well it was i was going i'd done it once before but i was fighting in cardiff wales against uh a welsh guy and uh it was on a jack shaw card so it was it was a big welsh crowd and uh it was quite funny i had my um i had my entrance first so i'm i'm walking out and uh i hear all the booze before i even start walking and then uh when they see the master i'm looking around like what the [ __ ] and it it silenced all the booze anyway it's quite it's quite funny really it definitely adds that intimidation factor buzz doesn't it yeah all right he's easy to really really go looking to read really ugly it's one of the other isn't it well as we can see with the mask off absolute heartthrob luke i won't go that far but i think so luke you're going to try and reclaim the flyweight gold at cage warriors how does it feel to be back in that position to fight for the belt and you've earned it as well with the tournament side as well which is always good to see yeah yeah to be honest i knew i was gonna get it again like um me me and sam are the only ones that uh have been active throughout this uh whole thing you know we've done like five six back to back camp so i was the only one i missed was uh ones where i had uh two pull-outs but apart from that yeah we've we've been like in every single one that we can't uh we're we're the both two guys that want it the most so yeah and lou correct me if i'm wrong but yourself and sam was trained together a couple of times before is that right yeah yeah he he was in layton buzzard and i was in northampton there was about 50 50 minute gap so we we were going to their place they were coming to us and uh yeah i mean it's only five six times across course of time but now we we get good friends um so yeah it was like i'd never like picked him to get it but i kind of knew if i hadn't of um messed up on the title defense so i knew this was going to happen now now we we both want it so it's just one of them things you just put things aside don't you we both want the same thing and how do you how do you go about doing that lucas like obviously like i wouldn't really know me ross i've had a few sparrows a few times you know after a few drinks but like what's actually like training with someone and knowing you could like you you start to like them and like as a friend obviously and then like you know you could be eventually facing each other in the future how's that like how does that sort of go about um i don't know um i know him and uh hadley had a kind of they had a kind of friends thing going on where they when they'd speak about each other they'd be like i'll train with him we're with we're friends sort of thing but when i was asked about him back in the day when i was still sparring with him i was like yeah he's a great guy um it's just a sport man uh i'll find anyone and uh that was always my answer but now it's come and and the time's getting a bit closer i'm thinking man it's not just a sport like we're we're going to be taking each other's heads off so first i'll i want oh it's just another fight but now it's like it is an opponent that you you're planning on hurting so it's a is a weird thing but i know it would be cool afterwards regardless of the outcome you know sir yeah well russ what's your make of that now like just two lives chasing the dream really like isn't it yeah well i suppose you know i mean as as a sporting individual you have hopes you have dreams you you know you have stuff you want to attain and you know obviously the cage warriors fly by toilets you've been there before and you want to get back to the mountaintop and cage warriors and sometimes you have to go through people you might like sometimes you get to fight people who you don't like which is probably a bit easier there's only there's only one gold belt and you know that's that's what you have to do for it like put it this way i'm sure you know it's obviously not quite the same but you know when you're playing football like man city we're playing chelsea in the in the champions league final like i'm sure you know there was i know mason mountain was on one team and phil oden was on the other team and then they went off and they played for england together you know i mean like you sort of have to get on with it so uh sometimes that's what it takes is a little different when you're trying to kill each other but yeah yeah definitely a little bit a little different a little bit different a little bit different than kicking the ball but yeah um luke what brought you up to higher level mma up in scotland obviously coming from northamptonshire um basically um i just needed to change um you know when you're going to the same gym day in day out same place i wanted to travel around and um i looked outside the uk i actually booked a visa to america and thailand and then i was thinking i want to stay closer to my family and uh traveled around a few gyms a high level had some accommodation and that was that was my main pick anyway really because i thought scotland beautiful place to go see you know outside training in my hometown i'd already you know it's like when you're in your hometown you're walking around and everything's the thing you might get a few nice views but it's not the same uh just just wanted to travel really um as well so and you think you have probably maybe less distractions up there and you're fully focused on them mma up there because you knew less people there was less hanging out with your mates and sort of things so it was just fully focused on your training camps yeah that's it i spent 12 weeks living in the gym there before the uh fading fight and um yeah exactly and uh i've stayed there so i could go back see my grandparents my parents uh it's a bit harder during lockdown but um yeah still don't don't regret any decisions you know i'm really happy here and uh yeah i really like the place as well so it's good yeah i was just gonna say there's some great uh bodies up there as well you know you have scotty malone stevie mcintosh you know stevie ray ireland's own dylan typical up there what is the loyalty train with those guys and how much of a lunatic is dylan duke yeah i'll tell you man i i was i was the mad one before but now now tuxey he's the mad guy yeah he's brilliant manny there's always a good atmosphere when uh nukes in the building it's full of energy all the time yeah yeah absolutely and were you gonna say something there no it's just that when you hear that people like luke and then we had obviously we were talking to shiban during the week saying that like they're actually they're living in the gym like this like it it really touches you some sort of way like i mean just knowing that like at the way even where we're putting these shows together trying to like give as much promotion for the events itself like i just love everything about it that's what i was just gonna put in and say no that's obviously you know you want to see that level of dedication especially when you know someone like luke's going for the world total shot and luke would you consider yourself a representative of um english martial arts or would you you know have scotland adopted yet are they trying to adopt you when you when you reach the when you reach the ufc with the scottish fans being like no no he's one of ours i don't know yet man um i don't know but it's one of them weird subjects where you uh see if i want to walk out with either flag um or even the union jack a lot of people don't like it a lot of people do so i'll just stay i'll just stay under the radar but um as i get announced it's from northampton england via bathgate in scotland and uh i'm quite happy with that because i like to represent both for sure yeah let's look at let's look at this weekend roster like obviously there's gonna be fans back in the arena like you are yourself and sam are headlining these saturday nights so we have thursday night of action friday night of action saturday night action all will be on ufc fight pass when we'll be promoted all the way through as well which we can't wait to do but look look there's gonna be fans in the arena saturday night in your headline like the big show and like this is this is all going to be you're the cherry on top like how do you feel now going in and just knowing that like the the like the night ends with your performance yeah that's it i'm i'm really happy with we've been um put on the saturday night as the main main event because uh it just shows the respect in the flyweights because uh it's obviously the smaller guys they don't get much uh in as much love they should get now that's it and all the wages was um it's always a bit lower than other other divisions most of the time around so yeah i'm really really happy about that and yeah we'll put on a show man so yeah yeah and yeah your call iconic venue and what's going to be like fighting with the fans back in the arena does that make you more ramped will you feed off their energy yeah me and your core got a love hate sort of thing going on because uh i took a fight on a few days notice on bama to to get a contract cut an awful amount away real early this was my uh [Music] first loss so both my losses have come in the york hall and now remember after i come out of that fight i know it was the weight cut a bit but we've all with all his fans looking down on you from a bird's eye view i was like i don't even want to go in this arena ever again and then uh of course the the hadley one was in there too and i'm thinking oh man this is deja vu so the third time against le bond i'm like oh my god everything went wrong leading up to that fight i end up getting a flu puking before i go out i was bad so i was just thinking man it was more of a virus than a than a flu is like a stomach thing and um i was just like everything's against me here but what can you do run away sir i just went in there done what i had to do and uh got the win i got a bit pieced up more than what i i wanted to and i know i could have done better but still got the job done and we're here uh ready for the next one in paris it was an absolute war that labon played it was it was it was an epic scrap and i'm looking forward to this next one one thing i will ask is obviously you have that five round experience i i don't think sam does have that five round experience do you think that would be an advantage for you going into this fight i think so yeah he seems to be be really good over three rounds and then because he's never got into the fourth or fifth i don't think um because obviously he's just had those two mistakes that everyone knows about and he talks about it he seems to have got over it but i don't know what would happen uh later on in the fourth and fifth like he got he didn't really get tested in his last one cardio was he won that pretty easily um so yeah we'll we'll have to see but um i think it will be around two or three i think uh yeah so do you think you'll stop them on the feet or do you think it'll be on the ground i don't know man um i think it'll be on the feet but i plan to mix it up as well so we'll we'll see where it goes i think it will be uh right right back and forth really good fight anyway that's i don't understand what i'm expecting ross if it goes anything like his last fight it will go everywhere and that's why you cannot miss this this uh the fight this no i said that like i could just picture it back and forth like that's definitely what's happened so that's why you kind of miss it shanks versus creasy on on cage warriors um 1 29 on saturday the 2nd of october sorry excuse me luke we're gonna just wrap things up um we want to if you have any sponsors or anyone you want to shout out like now's the time to give them a shout out but yeah brilliant man the cage warriors cage depending on the performance yeah i mean i know i'm gonna win but um that was the thing with hadley they wanted to see see a finish and in fairness it was a bit of a boring fight so he didn't get his instant ticket so i'm hoping for for an exciting fight nice finish and uh i think that'll give me the ticket yeah but it depends how how you perform um obviously you you want to play it safe but um yeah i think i'm going to get a nice nice real nice finish though i think if i get that the title and then yeah i think that's me appreciate it we don't appreciate the honesty here we do that bantamweight title as well though i like that fight and match up so so tough man it's uh your average grappler versus striker i think let you be being the great grappler and yeah wooden on the feet so i i don't know but that will be a brilliant fight too who would you rather fight i don't know we'll see how this one pans out and then i'll pick okay they've both got their they're they're both they're both good guys man they're both they're both on i put them on the same evil okay and we will ask for the other title void prediction and what about hughes versus chariot because i don't think you're going with the featherweight um yeah no no i'm not going up there jordan champ he's a big boy now yeah i i used to spar with you a nice nice too big and strong um yeah i think uh i think i think paul hughes could do it you know but that's that's what we were looking for luke that's what we're looking for it's no easy fight so if he does it you know he's he's legit man and he's he's coming and uh a rematch with either of them guys for jordan or will just be a brilliant fight so yeah yeah i think i think hughes versus a voucher needs to happen over five rounds need to see that rematch yeah that that would be like yeah that'd be a brilliant fight man yeah i'm waiting for round four to kick off yeah well that's like the everything starts on thursday friday is on as well saturday night three nights of action three title fights like just three nights of like uh ex like expect serious action and um like for the people to tune in thanks man for tuning in we also
