[Music] it's really hot it's a warm up today yeah all right um welcome everyone back to combat confidential uh let's speak episode two of season two so thanks for tuning in today I have my friend Miss Ava Cruz uh fighting out a SPG HQ yes um there's a look here uh we'll get it we'll get we'll get right into things here you know so you you're a jiu jitsu profile correct yeah you just got that yeah got it in December okay so you got it when I got my blue belt too oh yeah yeah yeah so yeah exit I'll get right into it here like what got you in to jiu jitsu what did you start first what was your first uh combat sport um I guess you could say cry um I did cry you for just under a year when I lived in Kerry and someone moved out with Kerry and I left a karate because I didn't love it and it was happening before smashed an article I didn't love it and it was kind of just for the time being down there and I'd always done Gaelic and pretty much my whole childhood I was on Gaelic um and then when I moved back to Dublin uh I got back into the Gaelic but I kept having knee injuries and this artist kind of sat me down one day and they said to me would you consider doing any other sport that has less impact I ended up probably divorced in sports four injuries bought a yeah I ended up wanting to do my type and yeah I was looking at all these like knockout reels on YouTube and stuff and um I was kind of bored organic and anyways and we were division one and two in Dublin months it was kind of it was getting to the stage where it's kind of like getting a bit bored with it anyway so I was happy to start a new sport so I was like I forgot I'm gonna go down and deal with it in my tie and we looked up in the closest gym in the area Tyler uh and the cheapest one and I ended up going down to Spartanburg two now wait yeah yeah yeah yeah it had been I think they moved after I left they moved yeah yeah yeah and I went down there and they were like well we don't actually do Muay Thai classes specifically it's the MMA and to my Jiu Jitsu was on so that's great I'll give that a brush and straight away just loved it fell in love immediately and I was lucky and when I went on to the math there was a lad that I don't I went to school with okay and straight away seen me and he called me over and it did take a bit of that kind of a major I think you know especially being a girl gone on to my mat and you're the only girl and like what is this and stuff and it was nice having Philip if you're watching Legends it's nice having him there and helping me and you know we show me the sons that was really nice um and I remember was an iron bars in the first day and I just I loved it from the start I really just loved it how old were you I was 15 15. yeah so that's seven years ago yeah yeah okay so were you always kind of like this like did you always kind of like these sports or Active Sports or physical Sports kind of growing up yeah like I've always been involved in sports if it wasn't Gaelic game and like in school I've done basketball and there's some commode and I was just always doing some kind of sport but Gaelic would have been my biggest thing like um after school they're going up and just training and then that would have been me janami head was focused on that like um but I kind of enjoyed it wants to get out of class you know the kind of way like an excuse just kidding I was I was doing sports and but yeah and I've always there I've always loved Sports and I kind of grew up with a bit of martial arts in my life anyways and show me family like various kind of bits so um then that kind of brought me to the karate but karate is very different from what I don't know like it's very Janelle who in your family was involved my dad's yeah my dad's what did he do and a mixture of different things and kind of non-traditional martial arts all right yeah so I guess for a movie a lot of women their their families might try to maybe hold them back a little bit from doing something this yeah the physical but in your yeah you probably would have the opposite experience especially with you well I don't know um some dads probably aren't necessarily you know trying to push their kids into yeah doing something like this yeah how was your done was he very supportive or yeah um I've always kind of been like left to make decisions on me I was never pushed in any direction to do this or not do this um but since I've been young he's been tipping away with um and just messing more so you know they can be made into games and stuff do you know what I mean like I wouldn't be like right we're gonna do this to be more so just little bits here and there like um and I've always loved that part of it like um so yeah like when you look back from over the years it's kind of been steps to to get me here but it I am just delighted that I did find it at such a young age and like I was young enough to start and like um so now I haven't said that I'm out about two years on injuries okay Dominique twice and then okay I don't want ligaments and dislocations on both times Dodge surgery thank God yeah um on the second one I had a cast and every time now um and on the second one when I went to the hospital they they kept me another night and they wanted to do a surgery but then someone came down the head of like storage whatever came down he looked at me like and he actually says I don't need it if they can change the position of my cast so actually this was for the broken like this one and that's what they wanted to do the originals put plates in to put them on back and um it was very excruciating getting the Casper on because I broke the fibula but I also dislocated a bone on my foot so to put the cast on they had to pop the bone back into place and that was very very sore and the game with the gas stuff that's the other stuff that's tough going yeah yeah but putting it back on was worse because they had to pop the bomb back in take it out and everything like that so I just didn't want that um somehow doing the right recovery in anything like that I I got away with it with the surgery and I've been fine um the knee maybe uh like I got I done that twice so um you know that one hasn't given me any trouble now in about four years so that's going well but the second injury did happen about a year after the first one so it was kind of weak going back in bought him yeah it's part of the game isn't it nice to know it is yeah no I'd say you're fortunate that you you've had your injuries but they haven't been more or less soup that's serious yeah yeah exactly especially if you're able to down to the surgery yeah that's big like yeah it is like um and I think if anything it kind of it gives you a bigger drive when you do go back like you know what I mean yeah and you can go two ways but you can say this or you can want it even more you know and every time I've just went back even hungry hungrier um after doing the legs the leg injury um having me debut at the World Championships only a few months I have to come back and training um so that was amazing and yeah it was it was mad the way it worked out like um I'd be known on the Irish scene and but I'd never actually got around to to fight in a gas station so it was amazing having made making that such a big stage I trained for so many years it was great to get to Showcase that on a big stage yeah absolutely uh especially that uh for the for the eye mask yeah yeah that's that's incredible um all right before we get too far ahead or stuff so uh you're you're 15 when you started 15. right you know so what did you know right away or sorry you knew right away then like this like this is awesome I knew like yeah in the fourth in the first couple of weeks to be honest I know this is what I want to do full time aim and I've always feel very young with that stage but I just knew like I had a good feeling like I just didn't no one else is interesting do you know what I mean like no one else is interesting and leaving school to be honest and I did do believe in six I did finish it um but it actually never counts my points I I just decided not to even I just gave up after after a while I didn't want to drop out so I still went to school and I'd actually go to attendance really good attendance um so come fifth year that was like I knew I wanted to go pro but I'd actually been going back and forth if I wanted to do a college as a backup and the whole years this was kind of going through my head it's like yes I'm going pro but you know things happen and it might be good to have a decent leaves here behind it and so I was kind of going back and forth with this and that's why I still kept shipping away at school and doing the best for records really um it's a good mindset to have you know you're you're thinking long term in your future but you're also thinking about right now yeah yeah yeah you know like um just trying to get the best boat starting to give it more intense and it's like is there any point in doing this if I don't need it you know like um so basically fifth year I I decides now like I'm I'm gonna just stick a problem I'm not gonna bother go to college I was gonna go to Limerick and do event management that was why I was sat on because I love organizing and yeah like my job right now with the administration and it's also with me because I do love to do obviously going on so I like to like to like to organize things yeah yeah it takes a few boxes like um so you know that that would have been cool and the people's person and stuff like that so I was thinking event management I ended up settling on doing makeup okay and making kind of me money over makeup in the meantime um and that's what I did I did a full-time makeup course for a year it was four days a week um and I did love that and I passed um I actually failed the the written part and had to redoed Apple pass it in the end and there's a lot of there's a lot of like um but there's a lot that goes into US yeah it's not just paint in the face you know it's definitely more to it the muscles the skin like you know there's a lot that actually goes goes into it on that other side so it was tricky it was kind of hard absolutely not everyone's face is the same yeah the the bone structure you need to learn yeah yeah yeah um yeah just so much that goes into it even like down to skin infections and stuff like that like if if you came in like like someone came in to get their face from like you actually have to do like an exam on them and if they if they have like some kind of like goo sticking out their eye or you see something like you have the right to say sorry like I'm not painting your face like because not only are you gonna infect my products and yes you clean it after but like you just don't you don't want that yeah sure and it's not good for them either and so there's a lot that actually goes into the makeup but um I've just been working full-time and training it just suited me back yeah yeah like there is opportunity in the future to know there is like there's something there it's just at the minute sure definitely yeah in the past few years they haven't really been out and that that I've wanted to kind of continue on but it's like again it's doing me for the minute uh just walking as as a woman like what did you find it challenging to be in like the world MMA and Jiu Jitsu like is there certainly from your peers I wouldn't say you'd receive a lot of uh negative pressure but I say like outside looking in people who aren't a part of things like this app do you feel that as a woman who's competing and has their eyes on you know being a pro yeah like YouTube kind of get generally speaking and for women it is even newer yeah like 10 years we're talking to you know like within 10 years ish so yeah you too but you have to just kind of remind yourself when situations come off just to stand your ground and do you have any like specific experiences or um really like it's it's just there's not bad but you know what I mean you might get like yeah it's kind of comments or like you know people may be saying oh like like people have said to me every year so would you not have done this would you not have done that and it's like but I don't like that do you know what I mean like that's not what my passion is and so whenever things come off but I kind of just brush it off and it's like look at like this is what I'm doing like it's still in your business at the end of the day so um I'm just gonna keep on doing me no matter what because it's what I love and no one else interested me that's cool so um did you find regular training partners sorry to learn with um did you kind of have like your uh in before yeah yeah um I did I did um it was a small gym it was business yeah yeah I was there I went there this before I had before I had started anything and visited the place to you know see what it was like yeah um and I'd actually uh I had shown up there when I think they were closing up from a class or maybe I just caught them as they were just there during the day but they weren't doing anything and they're like kind of told me to come back and I never went back okay but I mean I I so I'm familiar with the place okay I remember what it was yeah yeah it was small it was very small um and the gym I was the only girl for the I was there between two and a half years um and the whole time I was the only girl and um I did have Partners in and of course people there that would have been a bit smaller but geez compared to what I'm trying to but now like girls that are my size and you know just so many even lots that are more lives at my size it's just such a moral variety um so I I did have Partners in and I didn't really struggle to have Partners um but like majority of the time like I've always gone against people that have weren't my size and they wear it bigger because like at the end of the day even if you're going against the man you're still a man you know he's still stronger and bigger and stuff so um I didn't struggle for after leaving that gym and then moving to order gyms I did realize that I had developed a kind of like a dog mentality in in my fight in the game and that's what I kind of started off with and it was kind of just like like at home girl and like you know what I mean like I wasn't as technical like because I kind of was fighting bigger people most of the time um but then when I started to train with girls and in me I mean next-gen things kind of changed a bit then and it's like right girls do train different cement you know um okay girls are kind of like faster and in certain aspects like and it is just different and quite a change things with it then and then I was in Paddy's gym then oh yeah um and he kind of know what's this about me sorry you know what's this about me me fighting star that was very kind of like you know rushed and stuff like so he then kind of brought me back and he was bringing more kind of like technique into it and it's like don't rush like when you are smaller like gown ham doesn't always work like you know you have to be more technical like um so then I really started to change my game and adapted to what was kind of um more suited for for me then and um yeah it's just been great on ever since like you know it's just been constantly evolving that that's that is what I like when uh when I watched one fight that's what I look forward to seeing is it's generally like a Showcase of technique you know like that that really comes out it's either uh you know really good technical striking or you know my personal favorite you know they're Jiu Jitsu yeah or you know that that I really like saying that because then it's generally it's like a it's like the kind of the their best of the best you know the the they're putting on their best of their uh of their skills in general and I really like watching women for that yeah yeah with men some men can just get away with just you know being purely strong yeah you know also technical but you know that strength really shows whereas women you definitely see more of the the art behind it yeah you know because they have to have the the technical aspect yeah absolutely yeah I really like watch I love watching women for that reason amazing I would love to hear it did do you ever try to like recruit your friends do your friends kind of like oh hold on well first I would think uh probably a lot of your friends are involved in the sport yeah yeah do you have any like kind of outside friends are you trying to like come on come come get hit in the face no I was actually never and I would never well maybe I should be able um I would never kind of say oh do you want to comb here with me and David I have one friend now um and she actually did start animation once in herself for a long time yeah yeah um and and she has started us so and she's tipping away that and she loves it like she has stuff that is now that kind of that fight you know like um and she's always wanted to start it and I was an inspiration for her to get into it um so it wasn't for her I'd love to see her stick at it and and actually get get in and competing with it like um be amazing for her so we're yeah I guess for really gabriana has been the only person that has come into it with my friends but um they wouldn't really like anyone any friends that would have it because I don't know they wouldn't really be pushed to his life and Gabrielle to get into it like that um but my closest friends would be in the spot yeah already like we've messaging through that like yeah you definitely a lot of the friends you meet during the sport or you know doing this that they tend to be your yeah you're good you're good friends is something about doing something difficult together and you can have that yeah kind of shared experience yeah yeah doing something yeah hard yeah definitely yeah a lot of people don't have that in their lives yeah you know doing anything difficult yeah hardest part of their day is getting up sometimes and yeah I think you could do people a lot of good to now that's not necessarily even uh you know a martial art but anything even just some sort of exercise even yeah a lot of people yeah no absolutely I think exercise is so important for absolutely everybody even if it is just going to the gym yeah and I think it's really important but um don't take into the next step into some kind of martial arts yeah I only really know if you're in it how would change your life do you know what I mean like Annie martial arts it's people that are outside it is hard to understand how life-changing it is you know when it's just it's just a whole different lifestyle that's the one thing I always try to tell people and it is you know it it almost sounds kind of counterintuitive to tell someone that you know MMA Jiu Jitsu it is it is a life-changing thing like yeah and it's a positive life-changing thing absolutely and then you know if you were to tell me that's three years ago I probably would be like uh you're probably not yeah but 100 isn't it yeah it's completely experienced like you would have you have to experience it to really kind of understand it but that's always what I try to tell people I'm always trying to drag people to the gym with me I am I'm yeah I preach the book yeah you know whenever I'm with you all right yeah because I think sometimes people just need that push to get in because they can be intimidating and do you know what I mean so it's maybe people just kind of need a bit of a portion like that if they're your friends and stuff it's like come on we go so I love that yeah um so let's jump into your first amateur fight when was that that was an art map it was our mouth yeah okay yeah um it was how do you how did you met how did you get on the IMAP team I got added into a what's up group nowhere yeah okay yeah um I just I went to my phone one day and I was in this team Ireland chat and um they'd added me in and it was the team that they had selected to go over um and then to kind of talking back and forth and where were you training at that time HQ HQ yeah um it was only it was 20 it was a year and a half ago so um was it 2021 did you go over there with Gustavo yeah that's amazing yeah it was so different to the other two eye masks really was in where did you go for the island that was in that was in Abu Dhabi oh it wasn't okay that was there as well yeah that was the one that made me Xavier one and and that was an amazing experience I had it was lucky really really lucky to have John let me calling her for that your first fight is imass and Abu Dhabi walk us okay sorry so you just got added into a what's that group yeah you know you weren't necessarily planning for it or trying to get on the team or anything like that uh how much notice did you have um yeah maybe a month and a half-ish yeah yeah I didn't get around that yeah um definitely a time to prep for it and still Flex you know um and like that I was actually coming back from my injury with me me the egg so I was actually only kind of getting back into things in any ways okay so it was a bit risky to be honest because um I didn't plan on fighting that soon and I have to come back from the injury um so it worked out well like at that time were you kind of like trying to scout different promotions to try to get on at that stage no I was actually just focused on getting back into training and I was out for eight months okay yeah it was a long time and it was a long long time so so um yeah I was I I wasn't actually focused on fight at that point I would have been soon after I bought after I was doing rehab yeah yeah finishing off the rehab and kind of getting proper back on the maths like yeah and was kind of where my head was up but at the same time I was rearing to go so I wasn't going to say no do you know the kind of way and the money was it was not a big thing and very expensive to do the eye mastered this yeah yeah so that was not okay you had you have to pay for that oh Roger really yeah okay I didn't know that I didn't know if that trip cost me about two runs wow yeah it's not cheap like Okay um and no sponsors around like that you know so um it is tricky it's got a lounge you know what it means to do what you have to do and like the great thing about the eye masses particularly for the females when there isn't there's more competition to fight yeah are guaranteed a few fights like yeah um well actually not guaranteed because that one I was Junior and I only had four in my division and so we would have been given three two how many fights did you get every month I've rented I've had two fights yeah okay and you went one and one correct yeah everyone I went I've won the fourths in the last second one three times in a row um so the gold is always the the goal but I will do another one before I go pro absolutely yeah I don't know when not the one this year and I think just the world's on this year I won't be on that one this year and but sometime next year I'll be doing one okay yeah so all right to get your first two fights yeah through the eye masks and what was after that after that I had the super cup had the super cup um that was very soon after Abu Dhabi that was in Abu Dhabi was in January the end of January and then it's super cup was matched to kind of December yeah um so the the there was there was the kind of a national thing on off like to five years but um it was actually the Nationals for Ireland and then whoever comes first with the Nationals for Ireland gets to understand Ireland for Bahrain but it was actually matter we even got selectors for the super culture and I hope that we actually kind of weren't meant to I didn't hear it no I didn't know that right so it was actually Russia and Ukraine that were ahead of us okay on the list of the top in the world and the war was going on and they went to level five so we were next yeah it's just and it was our very last minute artist you know like so we were kind of like team Ireland did a great job now fairness in Maya and everything getting everything positive aspect that I'm gonna start using in conversation now yeah oh absolutely and come here we came second yeah yeah exactly right we'll be doing amazing like you know what I mean and we really did it was it was such a team efforts oh that was a really great trip it was like it was never forget it's like um of the super cup and I started off with a girl from New Zealand okay um Oceania they were called the kind of groups some of the countries yeah so when I got a four surround through a naked joke and that one that was before so I was bossing with her um and then the next day um I went on to play messenger and I lost that decision so yeah it was it was just a great experience overall like it was it was very different to the eye the other eye mask that I'd done one before and one after and just because you're you're actually a team proper those are some pretty big events to kind of to really kind of cut your teeth in you know and yeah it's not it's certainly not the the route that most people would be fortunate or had the luck to yeah to have so that's pretty cool see you're you're all set to take on uh well this is it like do you know what I mean you're also taking on a stadium yeah no absolutely and it's in the face like yeah no I haven't said that a lot of men to work went into which you know not only sure from over the years but like a lot of specific work on what to expect when you do stuff I wanted such a big kind of in stage like it is a World's World stage and um me and myself I did a lot of preparation for that so when I got there I wasn't like the course still got nerves that's natural if you don't get nerves something wrong but I am very good at managing them to be honest and I think a lot of that work comes from before you actually get there yeah for sure um yeah so okay so super cup what was after that um I had waited one two three no uh five six seven yeah after that was a flight in the North and I think that was what I had after the what what promotions was that oh you wore yeah are you wore yeah I say are you War but I think it's you're you're you're you're you're you're you're you're you're let's say you're I say are you always think it's not my dad I was I think I was say I think that event I was supposed to go to if I'm trying to remember who was fighting on that and a friend of mine who's gonna be on that I was gonna go up with them okay it didn't work out yeah um it's a great shout out isn't it yeah no I've been those the shows up in the north seemed really good and seemed yeah well put together yeah yeah sorry so you or so you had to fight with your iur you are yeah um who did you fight then hey Raquel Raquel um Phantom in town oh yeah yeah and that went to decision um I wasn't actually well the week four I thought I was in hospital and um I decided to take to play anyways I don't know if I regret taking it or not because I just didn't perform um at all I didn't want to back out before you and she'd be prepping for it and stuff like that I didn't expect to be in hospital the weekend to be fair uh if it went to decision I think yeah was nothing really other than that there was a few Strikes Back and Forth but I just defended her taking me down the entire three rounds pretty much like and there wasn't really much that went on like um ball yeah I don't really know if I regret no I don't regret taking internet yeah as an amateur I wouldn't yeah you should take as much experience like yeah yeah I would have yeah I don't like the idea of blacking out or fight like you know what I mean like by that stage I was actually okay I was recovered and stuff like that I had a week to get better so I was actually all right to fight but it was just there was still a lot that wasn't then you have another one coming at the end of this month September 30th um Cade Legacy yeah yeah the Kate Legacy shows are great yeah I've been to a few of them yeah um or I've been to the last like three or four of them yeah yeah I'm fortunate enough that I I work with uh uh I'm a team that's very good yeah yeah I'm still learning but I'm a a judge oh very good so I could sit in Kate's side and you know passing the house and watch the fight amazing are you there sometimes I'll be there yeah um I I should be there but yeah I I certainly won't be uh judging yours but uh I'll probably I'll hand that over to someone yeah yeah yeah it's great you know you'll walk to and from it yeah yeah um yeah but yeah I know uh those the cage Legacy fights are always great they're very well put together and they always have good fights yeah and absolutely sorry so you you're coming up to this fight now you should be kind of ramping kind of ramping things down a little bit at the moment uh but overall how how has your Camp been brilliant yeah really good um after having my debut at the I'm after Abu Dhabi the next day Kaya had gotten a boy and I was pointing her oh okay in the semi-finals for the finals um and I went to the decision and and she got the win um so we're both nail parts so this is why it's very interesting fight um I I wouldn't really be that used to fight into a person aside from that fight because I've only fought Orthodox so this fight I've been doing um this Camp I've been doing a lot of work around fighting a telepath yeah and because at the eye mask like I did now I was gonna be fighting Kaya and um I there was a lot that I was in prepped for but funny because it is different like on the ground it's an apple in the sand up or shots where it just Landing cleaner everywhere um so yeah I'm just gonna get in there because of some water I've been kind of get your clicks going like if inspires and stuff like the flowers then you know what I mean because it's the same stuff that you do it's just it's it's different to what I normally get my best shots off because normally finds out Orthodox I mean nice shots gonna come from me having the the right left for it so um it's been fun switching off it's it's it's it's interesting like going into before you having like these kind of very specific kind of things for the stand up to to be working on so um yeah no I'm bozing to get in there now to be honest now yeah I'm looking forward I'm looking forward to seeing it it's gonna be good yeah um I was gonna say um sorry so you train with the MMA team yes at SPG yeah yeah so how many there's quite a few women that train there and there's quite a few high-level women that train there as well there's a couple UFC fighters Lucy's in the UFC it's the Ministries Lucy yes yeah yeah yeah she's in the US states comes over from Czech Republic she's an animal um she is she broke uh I know it was I can't remember how long ago this was she had broke her hand after a fight yeah and then I remember because I watched the fight and then I saw you know the aftermath of it I'm like oh she's gonna take some time off I'm not gonna be because I was saying it's like you know give her you know high five congrats in the gym or whatever yeah and um like I'm probably not gonna see you for a while and then I happen to be going to chess class one day and there she is down in the ring yeah just you know one hand and a cast and the other hand doing strikens yeah that's pure dedication right there yeah it is yeah no she's a Grafton yeah and we've loads of those really really high level girls there like every day when you go on the map like you're just guaranteed to guess logical training and if you know what I mean it's just it's it's high intensity but it's also like very technical and it's it's just I just think it's prepared for balance the pro class like it does everything that you need um and then obviously add an erection within the evenings and stuff like that and I really love roomy training has been after the past well I feel like I have a really good balance of different things that I'm doing you know a lot of personal work I think is very important like stuff that you do outside the gym because if not more important what do you do then to kind of relax to maybe take your mind off of the pressure of fighting on the weekends like yeah or just in general um or Sweet Sea swims yeah I'd love to see um I got to see quite a bit um and walks I suppose um I do train a lot to be honest so I'm trying to think like what am I not doing like like today you know I did the strongman when I was saying yeah and before this and that's a stranding Edition um so so sort of like today for example we're only doing it's only three minutes of work in the RF right but it's the it's it's one minute and then you get a rest and then you go for a minute but that is the hardest minute of your life like your own breath forever a minute or two after like it's it's so so 12 but it's it's what you need like you know what I mean you dig deep like to to do that and today it's time so you're constantly trying to beat your own time on it um so yeah that was today and then I have a birthday party one year old birthday party after this so yeah those are always fun yeah yeah it'd be fun yeah so uh how many how many more amateur fights do you enter sorry I should mess that um so you're obviously your intention I mean you've said before like you want to go pro like you you certainly have your eyes uh you know like UFC for sure right 100 yeah yeah do you have anyone there that you look up to now that you're like I want you know like in VOC yeah that you kind of look to as like an inspiration Valentine is always being definitely take inspiration from when I do for mentality as well to now she's just she's so focused um and I I've always I really liked Fountain and Holly Holmes well oh yeah so pause I just have always turned into someone in the so pause um but there's so much talents coming into the UFC now that Jesus like it's just it's the women like to know it is just getting bigger and bigger like sport in general is ground but like for the women it is just so great to see so many different in from all over the world so many different Sim enjoying they're like even now in this thing I'd love for being HBO this new girl that's coming in she came this week she is from Ecuador I believe South America okay and she has come over to train with us for two months to train for the imaths and and she said well yeah so it's been great yeah I got started on a Friday like yeah yeah um so to know it's it's great kind of especially being in that gym like it would be a popular gym which came out like that's amazing to come all the way to try my All-Star again she's really good and stuff like so and it's been great to have her there looking forward to finishing off the camp doing more of her and after shift two months so it's great what way do you find out so seven out of eight fights have been bought a my last fight was 55 kg catch me because for pro over 52 so we're trying to get one more time for Pearl I'll be 52. okay uh strawberry yeah um I'm gonna start after that anyways and see how I go but mostly I'm small like I actually I I would be small for uh I fly away so um we've been trying to we're trying to get kind of fights at the middle just again practicing for the vehicle um because then it's only an extra kind of 3kg when it comes to the pro so um if I can't focus I'll go back up it's not a big deal like this for you I'm going back up to to fly away and it's not that big of a deal at all um and it's actually same day anyway and it's cage likes to do the same day weigh-ins I like it when they do that do you yeah yeah I think it's more fair I think it's safer yeah yeah yeah absolutely um a lot of shells are steering away from it and when they're doing the day before I I get why I mean prepping for pro like yeah like I yeah I understand why they you know why the other way promotion would do day before but personally like the you know day of yeah but sometimes I think it's maybe just a preference it's preference yeah and and while you instance it's all I'm used to be honest like uh I've only had two fights in Ireland six the most and they're the same day weighing in so I'm more used to not than that so um it's not going to be about it like then the show starts at half six probably in the ten so you have a full day to review like yeah like get your carbs in and stuff like so yeah I'm not worried all about the way so like training at SPG you know so obviously there's a lot that goes on the mats absolutely yeah you know off the match with the coach especially like when you're discussing your career or your future like you know certainly you're at the right place to be having those discussions like how are they there with you know that type of coaching yeah they really kind of do they sit down with you and like look this is the road you want to be on this is what you got to do yeah how does that work yeah and it kind of those shots have kind of popped up with me at different times maybe after Aspire or something like that yeah and but I did have a chat with Dave if they're not Longo in about world Fascinations on went to go pro so we do have an idea in our heads and but like that you can't you can't sit out and install because it all it all depends how your kind of flights to go do you know what I mean um I don't want a certain number of fights like I'm on eight now and they say 10. so um we've actually I've always had from day one like the ultimate like my ultimate goal is to be a UFC champ for like just one feeling in life so I just can't wait for us when I'm just elbowing someone and it's it's this is I said since I'm like 15 to know it's like it's like all these years I've had this in me that I think though and I visualize and you know it's just I just can't wait till I actually do it do you know what I mean it's one of my big goals once I land our first album it's like oh I take it off in this yeah little underneath the head and stuff there's just there's more you can do in that sense but um I suppose um outside of the actual fight like the lifestyle is is more intense and yeah for sure you know um now there is this thing going on called Semi-Pro and people like I would be Semi-Pro I don't call myself semi-proble I never Semi-Pro lifestyle okay um so that's where you're training every day you bet you're training like a pro I'm trained in like a pro but I'm not a pro and that's why I did able Semi-Pro is is kind of there um I just train no I don't you know I don't label it um I've always I I over the part since I started fighting I have definitely picked it up a lot and I got a new kind of big cake of August trains every day but then when I and and twice a day sometimes but then when I started like fighting a year and a half two years ago I I really I picked it up like an awful lot like um so twice a day Monday to Friday and then once on a Saturday and then something like on a Sunday okay yeah and like not every single singers like that like all time um 40 hours a week like so I do try my best most weeks of this twice a day but if there isn't even where my body's just screaming just sitting out this evening this time then like what are you what are you are you training in the morning in the evening or training the pro class at 11 and then in the evenings after work so I'm blessed to let my job the uh they support me career um that's probably a lot of people's biggest uh yeah yeah absolutely like um I've done MMA before starting with them but I wasn't in the Pro class um and I actually moved to HQ during lockdown okay um and it was only the pro class that was on and I got pulled straight into it um and I had to kind of sit down with my job then and say some like look like I actually am serious about this because up until then I kind of said oh yeah like I do a train and all that and stuff but I'd never really told them my end goals for progression in the job do you know what I mean to keep if I can get more money and do a bigger role like I will um and stuff like that so I just never really got into details about my future and stuff like that but once I said some local like I like this is what I'm gonna be doing that they were on boards totally they were still so they were amazing yeah yeah Lloyd's Pharmacy show because they actually they are an amazing company um so they let me do flexi time so I started work earlier and I finish later and then a girl training from like a split share for them it's like a spacious yeah and like I'll join today and then come back to it that's awesome yeah I think I'm just used to other stage you know like it is a lot and you know my mom doesn't know if I would do a half the time book I just I just get on with it do you know what I mean but I think like that listening to our body is a very important factor in the to know what I mean because you can get more now you know what I mean you can get boring when I am very very aware it is like um so like that if it isn't even yes the goal is to train twice a day but if there is that one evening where it's like I just snackered like my body scream and just go for a walk or something like that like a real do you know what I mean I'll just do carrier deal instead of going to the car just to character do something else if you know what I mean it's important to just listen you know I think rest days are underrated yeah you know and then I think days are underrated and the they really are as critical as a you know like an active you know day in the gym sparring or yeah whatever but then again you know also rest days aren't necessarily rest and do nothing well that's it the acts of rest day they say exactly and like I think once you get one active rest day in the week you're you're fine okay um well I will be saying trying at least once in those sort of days like that's it's good the way the pro class is kind of on early because you get that done then and you know you go for your second one but once that's done like I do feel very accomplished anyways having that done because it is so such a high intensity um and you learn so I'm watching you always walk away with so much from it so um yeah all right so I forgot something here we kind of glossed over or we excuse me I missed bringing up uh your recent uh crop coins oh yes yeah how was that I was supposed to go to that but one I forgot completely about it I don't know how that I don't know how that happened yeah well you know two kids and everything completely in space yeah but um I was really bummed I missed it I watched your uh I watched your match I watched everyone's matches um but I watched yours in particular um you know how was that experience because that that's that's pretty cool like the just the the whole the whole grapple Queens Grandpa Queens kind of concept is really awesome and I I really like how uh how they had brought that together but uh you know what was your experience like yeah I was honest to be honest aim sorry did they approach you for that or did you kind of put your name in and they picked you or they approached me and I've been on the cards two cards before and I'm in and they says to me do you want to do in this ornaments or do you want a match on it um and I was going to do it so you know the crack with this ornament like it was a mixture of um brown belts and pork Bells under 66 and under Highway um so they asked me if I wanted to see those tournaments and I thought about it and I had a chat with a few guys and and my ends have not I ended up taking a match instead of doing tournaments because these ladies are a specialist in Jiu Jitsu and for example like I walk around between 15 and 60. I could be gone against someone who's cooked down to 66 kg he was a four girls going on black belts you know so I did consider in it and I was like no I might just come in and do it but then I said if I can do that or get a girl my own style using my own belts I think I'll just do that like in so I talked the match and um I was delighted to you've seen the the arm that was meant so she's so responsible yeah yeah you know that's another thing I like about women is that there's certain um uh certain submissions that Nest I don't say they don't work but they well a bit more difficult yeah women tend to be a bit more flexible absolutely like nearly yeah just nearly inverted yeah yeah like how is that not broke I know I know if I remember correctly even the commentators were like yeah they were kind of stunned like yeah yeah they were yeah and the crowd was like the thought was gonna pop like no I thought actually looking back I did I did on the arms that could have played a factor as well um I think I've had a bit of a I've had a readjusted me grip and got it a bit over here I think I would have had a bit more pressure to pull right there and John was saying as well um to to make sure that you're just in the funny bone part of the elbow yeah because that's where the nerves are Aim so two two little adjustments as well so it was a mixture of that and horribly flexible but she'll look a few seconds later took her back and talked about so yeah it was fun um and like that in in my hometown so it's do you have a point in time did you have a kind of a fan section for you there or not really no no not as I were there and that was what was most important to me in like starting off fighting in the other side of the world to and I know it was Jiu Jitsu compared to MMA but still equally as important just still competing and so how it's about what I'm there it really was amazing um so yeah no just and even the next point now that's that's when you're in the corner as well that's that's entirely as well so yeah um yeah it's where I'm from you know what I mean it's always it's always something special to be fighting somewhere you know it it's a part of you you're kind of representing it and yes yeah so no I I totally get that yeah not even dolphin like Talent yeah exactly yeah more specific yeah like I really do like I just think it has sandwich in it like I close to the mountains you're close to the beach you've load the shops like you have so much nature around do you know what I mean so so much nature like parks are literally fast like it's you know what I mean like I I just I love Thailand's close to town and yeah it's about around here I'm not complaining yeah you know I've kind of grown to I wonder what I'm trying to say um I've kind of I've grown to love this place you know like I mean it's the first place I lived when uh you know since I moved here and sometimes I feel like tala has this reputation it does uh not necessarily being the nicest yeah it's actually like I don't know maybe just times have changed or what but like certainly there's some areas of it that are you know to be desired but um I say most of it on a whole is is it's really nice yeah you know and you got houses that are going for 600 Grand now around here so yeah you know that's got to be that's an improvement for sure and that definitely should uh that definitely shows how you know things aren't necessarily The Stereotype that you know people can't judge a book why it's cool do you know I mean like there's a lot of parts of Dublin that have the same reputation now I know Tyler was single though for a few things but I think the four things I want to be fair like Square level three like that really has a yeah that has a reputation for a reason I love going up there for the for the spectacle so do you know why it's called the square uh get to Pyramid it's a pyramid well and they thought that people couldn't spell pyramids so they called it a square seriously yeah well that's what they say anyways because it's not a square like it goes like that in the pyramids yeah and but everyone calls the square so that's what they say yeah I you know I kind of always wondered about um because it's a pyramid of like what yeah yeah but interesting story I hope that's true um but yeah who knows but yeah um so like what's your favorite thing to do like you know you know today's striking you know I'm gonna you know I love striking or you know like today we're you know we're practicing you know submissions from you know closed guard or something like that you know like what what what's your favorite thing to you know to to practice I guess so yeah um probably the anime rounds because that's a bit of everything um Mondays we do five by fives and that's everything yeah um and then the Fridays are great as well that's ten by five and let's shoot some hits see what it goes on um small gloves small gloves um I like anything that's kind of mixing up you say jets with hits or hits yeah yeah I like that it sounds like legit hits I think the ultimate thing is that it's fight Sims in the page because um the ways to open HQ you go in and then normally before or just after the class starts and so you have the gym looking at you inspiring so it really does um simulate a fight like that and you've seen in the gym obviously really has all the wallpaper of like the crowd and stuff like and it's just a deadly set up like um so I love items and like that you get to put into play what you've been practicing like um so I say ultimately the best part of trying to be the flight Sims because you get to go in a bit more Apple like it's all equally uh like that's the thing about MMA there's just so much in it and there's so many different things to be doing um you know like you have your disc glass then you have your MMA class and then you have your rest and then you have K1 Lego zoo in pts as well and um it's it's cardio based as well but that's kind of based around K1 white and then you have your character session specifically then you have a chanting conditioning and then like this is the thing where we're really living that lifestyle like it doesn't just end there it leads into it eats into what you eat it eats into you know how do you spend your evenings how do you start your day off like what are you doing before no matter you're just rolling out of bed and jumping in or you know what I mean like there's so many different factors that that play into the overall game of MMA really is mixed martial arts and so for me thank God so I was trying to do my best you know what I mean like I know what the best looks like and I'm just trying my best to to get there do you um so after this fight's coming up are you sorry what would you say um so you have your flight coming up do you have your eyes set um another promotion to to jump on after that or cage Legacy again yeah because um in our display will be fighting for a belt in December yeah so that's where my head is at now okay when this point in life before spots yeah and then what uh uh straw weight will probably be flyweight again because it's where to fly away belt so I'll be sticking to I'll be sticking to fly away probably at the end of the year a magnoid gym but it's it's fake it's because the winner of this fight is going to be fighting for it okay so after that it was Megan who won it and um It's No Vacancy okay it's the bernardis point we'll be fighting for it then again right off yeah that'll be uh let's just I'll just say I'm gonna look forward to seeing you there yeah so me too I'm looking forward to seeing me either yeah it's just yeah I just love it no it's the whole the whole fight game in general is just uh beautiful yeah it is like I I have a hard time putting it in words sometimes because like I'm still I still feel like I'm new at the whole thing so you know I I'm certainly not one to you know have an opinion other people should listen to about it but it is yeah it's beautiful I love it and it's so much fun um you know almost ever almost everybody I've ever met in you know MMA Jiu Jitsu have been imagine you know yeah I have a lot of good friends that I you know met doing it and it it is fantastic and I I truly recommend this to anybody like I said I I preached the book anytime I meet somebody and then they remotely bring up um you know like MMA or UFC or Bellator or anything I'm like oh by the way yeah here I'm a Salesman for them let me yeah a little bit Yeah but yeah let me let me talk to you about it um it is great because it really can change so many people's lives and they might know about they're telling me and like the glycoin has just randomly fell into it do you know what I mean like the way the way the way it happened and yeah probably like that for so many people no I I I especially love the more women are getting involved absolutely you know especially because you know I have two young girls yeah and you know I want them to have women that they can look up to in the sport because I want them to do it yeah you know and they don't necessarily need to do it as you know to the level of being a pro or anything but just even a Pastime or a hobby like I do and yeah you know even just from a you know self-defense Self Protection point of view if that's you know as a father that's what I really think about yeah you know so I want them to kind of have those uh definitely will be inspired a lot of people still kind of have the spirit of MMA particularly that's like dark pointing in United States and it's that and it's like even even my mom actually when she went to watch a grapple much she came over and she was like I just didn't understand it was like technical like the sound the sound was accepted clear what's going on like you know what I mean she didn't think it was that like specifically he moved this and he could be caught do you know what I mean and she she was actually shocked that she wouldn't be big and telling me she'd watch the big points and stuff but um Jiu Jitsu specifically she was like oh my God like I just didn't realize there was that much in it and I think particularly our governments uh really do view it as dog fighting um yeah and that's unfortunate it's very unfortunate and I do think that will hopefully change yeah we're on the right Road for that to happen at least yeah I think we have some of the right people in the right places to we do make those uh those nudges to the government to try and yeah at least change there's just been so many you know just you know like we have to eventually unfortunately I think it's probably a time thing you know eventually and I think definitely in my day we will see it like as a very nice and funded sport like the way GAA and even boxing and everything is and rugby and stuff I think personally it's the people who it's kind of the older people who are sitting there on on the leadership who who really have the final say in all this for the country yeah they just need to go and then you need near our younger people to be on the higher boards who are maybe gonna have a sweat and whether it's it's approved or not I just think these all the mentalities aren't um are a big reason why it's not approved yeah no yeah I think you're right and eventually like I said it's a time yeah to time thing and I think certainly in our lifetime I think we'll we'll see the change hopefully it doesn't uh take too much longer but uh it'll it's gonna happen next next few years would be nice next five years would be nice yeah manifested um but yeah here look um we'll leave it at this so you know I said I really appreciate it thank you for having me you know so everyone even has her fight the 30th of September Cage Legacy seven seven yeah yeah um that Kevin Amana Community Center yeah uh I'll put a link down below yes uh is there anything you'd like to anyone or anything like shout out real quick um teammates pushing me every day um my parents are very supportive so let's go you know that's I'm happy that your parents are you know right there behind you dear brothers and sisters okay yeah and they're they're not involved in martial arts no no no um well I mean that they you know supportive as well I assume yeah more or less yeah it's missing me parents though okay yeah yeah that's good though it's got to be a great feeling though too yeah especially you know pull off a win you get to kind of look down a little bit yeah yeah I even they got grapple Queens when they got me hand raised I was looking directly at them yeah they were at the crowd they're just little um I got my hands raised looking at them and it was oh beautiful moment like it really was in it's just yeah there for me like yeah I'm happy to hear that yeah um I I hope one day you get to take them to the UFC to uh yeah well you know I mean big big reason I do this is about a good box to them yeah you know that's good make them happy and more comfortable than they are so yeah that's awesome yeah all right here look thank you so much yes thanks everyone for tuning in all right uh just actually
