guest we have imaf gold medalist the heavyweight prospect that is cork's own rowan spallane ryan how are you doing oh great to be here lads your one for liam was way better than my one you're like you had more energy for liam's one there was no energy there at all you know what the sun is zapping the energy out of me you know what i mean and uh i was actually told that sometimes i give too big of an introduction and it makes other people nervous for that yeah but he was giving me a backhander for that energy you know he's got the skills to pay the bills big news out of you this week yeah you've saw him with mtk and how did that come about um does that mean we'll see yourself off dubai at some stage i won't say no to holland dubois um i've actually known carol kelleher he is the the head of mtk ma in in the no in the the whole mess i think i've known him since he brought um six seven of us over to a show over in dubai uh it was raining in may he ran he gonna promote that show and known since then we we've been like always in texan and then i think it was like kind of about seven eight months ago the news broke that he was taking over the midst of mtk and at that kind of point i had loads of kind of man loads of management companies reached out to me i you know all the kind of big ones and i kind of i didn't really want to go the whole manager's like things i was happy with where john and liam were kind of picking fights for me and at that point then i also the better contract so i was like there's no real lead for manager and then with the news then two weeks ago that bellator released me just with them not being in europe and no point in them having european fighters i was like it's a great time for me to sign a management company now and mtk was a perfect i thought me and carol will do absolutely incredible things now and there's definitely some cool cool news coming in the future yeah they definitely will like the the level of contacts that those guys have is incredible um do you think that now you're with mtk you might end up going sort of the brave or uae warriors route um i would i'd love to fight new wars and brave i know i know they both kind of they're not really stacked in the kind of the heavyweight side of things i know when you're brave i i've been trying to get a fight with irman i've been trying to get that rematch for so long uh he beat me in 2015 in prague and then we were meant to fight in 2018 in the world and he just he he think he moved i think he had like a big like um he was he does like loads of like um humanitarian stuff with like over in africa and stuff i think it was gone new then yeah yeah way nicer i'm a complete [ __ ] like but uh trying to get that fight going and especially then when when um i got that one fight release from belator and i was looking for a fight i was trying to get a fighting brave it just didn't match up so i loved playing brave i loved flying your ua wars you know there's loads of shows i could get five or six fights and then it could be off in contender series or in the ufc it could be off in pfl bell took me back in europe you know there's loads of options for me i know because i'm a free agent i believe there's way more opportunities for me now i could go out with kabachi global and fight a lot of latin american fiends like palliation yeah exactly he shared the power he's doing the damn thing over miami yeah he's in quarantine right now in mexico and they're they're not having a good time at all right what's the last year been like for you because obviously like we were saying off here we're we're waiting to get you on with ever since you signed for bellator and then we usually wait for people's voice to be lined up and then we get them on it just seems to make more sense you know it just helps everyone boost their fight as well and then like you were meant to fly this weekend and ballerina then has changed like what's the last year been for you been like for you because obviously once you sign for bellator you're going to get going yeah the last year for me is incredible um like the train i've done and all the skills developed in the last year has just been absolutely amazing and it was showing out sunday when i fight that you'll see the ryan when i fought in the oceanics and i won that fight the ryan now that will fight in a week's time will be completely different like an absolute monster like i've had like the spam powers i've had for this camp have been amazing i've had the likes of johnny walker i've had karen moore will flory i've got gustavo up in dublin i've had um a cuban boxer down here in cork his name is mike perez like i have had unbelievable spirits this camp and then the skill development and i've also brought on a neutral ignition coach so my shape has changed completely too the running joke around the gym right now is i've gone from luffrigno hulk where he just like literally painted green we've gone to the cgi hulk that um mac ruffalo place and also ryan for people that don't really know because when my dad is obviously watching this being like who's this job but here what's like training in dublin and cork and having to travel between both like what what's what's the sort of weekly regiment that you go through with the traveling and just traveling dublin is an absolute [ __ ] because i'm six foot five and bosses and trains are meant for people like me so like traveling straight up is not fun and i normally go up to dublin and i normally stay for a period of time so this time around just because it happened so late i only stayed for a week and i only did my week strain there that was it and normally i kind of go i go back and forth depending on who's up there because a lot of us aren't actually based in dublin so johnny kind of goes here and there and he's moving back up to belfast where his uh misses and stuff like that like and he moves around karen moore is based also in northern ireland so he's up there you know everyone's changing stuff so we normally kind of organize stints where we're all there and we all train and i do most of my training here in cork so i have i have lean mug here in corsey and i do mostly training there it's a lot of skill and stuff i don't really have any bigger guys my shredition coach just started to train he's he was a former special professional rugby player so he has that kind of job that just that chunk yeah yeah did you play ruby as well yeah he's bigger than me as well like so he just he's like kind of fell out to run at me with double legs without like do you play ruby when you're younger as well i did yeah i i played robbie from like ages like from seven seven yeah i was a little [ __ ] yeah i could play robbie and it was kind of a thing where robbie and me the whole time and then i kind of gave up robbie and took me on full time then so roy this sunday right you there's two prospects going head to head because let's let's not get it twisted slim trubisi is no easy out for a pro debut and he was an olympic wrestler with turkey he trains out the factory in france with cyril gone what do you make of this is your first opponent um have you got those wrestling shoes on and practice every day the last um we have uh we have we have a kid in our gym fiona o'rourke we all he's his nickname in the gym now was abdullah magamelof because he's an absolute russian like the [ __ ] he's been showing us like he's actually off to bulgaria the week after me to fight the cadet world championships for imaf he the wrestling we've done the last like eight months with him like has just been incredible like my wrestling hey because let's go straight um all my main fights from amateur career was either me knocking fellas out or me getting taken down and then submitting them i had no rest at all for my whole career so uh it was nice to kind of finally fill in that gap in my career my like i i could go in there and take him down so he's on the wrestler but like my rest is i'm i'm sorry i'm so confident my wrestler that i go in there and take him don't know about her uh he's a very very skilled opponent he's coming over obviously a huge gym than me factory i believe what will really show on this volume is my experience he has two fights altogether all he has all his countless wrestling matches all that but m mayfield is different i have 20 mma fights i've i've countless more experience than him and i will show how i'm just more an experienced fighter compared to him do you think maybe he he might be lacking in the striking and then maybe the jiu-jitsu skills because he's always inexperienced um i wouldn't say just because of the experience thing i just because i've been doing this for so long and my skill set is way more developed than his you know anywhere this fight goes i believe that i'm way more skilled than him you know he might have a bit of a good strike and a bit of a wrestling a bit of good jets mine's well very good wrestling but like compared to most heavyweights outside of it like if i was fighting you man romick simmons with the exact same things you know like i'm i'm a different level to all these like heavyweights it's only as you start getting the more you know experienced veterans of the protein you'll start seeing my skills getting really tested but these early guys now are yeah nothing because i fought i'm off and i thought the best the best these kind of guys now make jump make no difference to me now and do you feel rowan because you're a heavyweight and because you're irish and like we haven't really had i don't think we've ever really had an irish heavyweight do something that you feel like there's almost extra pressure on your shoulders because people love the heavyweights man buzz loves the heavyweights the big dogs people are tuning in just because you're heavyweight you know they just they're judging you just because you're you're your weight terrible terrible carrier i don't really believe there's any pressure i i believe that it's a great opportunity for me obviously there's no heavyweights most heavyweights you know can't really don't have a really good personality you know they're all just kind of like really thick ones who just kind of stare at the camera and just kind of growl and all that i believe there's a bit of personality in myself like and so i'm i'm funny you know and i can be a [ __ ] sometimes i can be a nice guy you know i'm a bit different i believe that will help me uh pressure no not really i'm excited i'm excited to carry it especially cork i'm excited to like bring in may kind of back to cork and all that like and may has a huge corpse uh the car scene in may is huge and it was huge and i was gonna bring that all back now and maybe get a few more shows back and forth and all happy class yeah actually yeah oh buzz wouldn't you love to see a press conference between uh roy spillan and derek lewis that would be funny could that be or or if you want another absolute sparkling personality if he does make his way back to bellator what about rowan spallane and fedor emilianenko i thought you were going to say big country that would have been a good word man he's retired man i'll come back for ryan you know i mean right yeah ryan obviously you're fighting this sunday july 25th in amsterdam uh what you actually fly out to amsterdam also what time will you be fighting and last question how can people check out the fight um i wanna the flight was literally sent to me yesterday
