The Energized Show’s Cage Warriors 188 Dublin countdown special features CMAC MMA head coach Alexander O’Sullivan and teammate Keith Keogh ahead of the April 26, 2025 RDS card. O’Sullivan discusses CMAC MMA’s surge—Ka signing PFL, Keith and Trevor Mango signing Cage Warriors, Jordan Bradshaw signing Ares—and his own return after roughly two years out following a stroke, heart issue, and medical clearance. He plans to corner Keith and fight Daragh Timon the same night (Irish vs Irish featherweight), target at least three Cage Warriors bouts in 2025, and climb the featherweight ranks quickly at age 26. Keogh describes his first Cage Warriors contract and Dublin MMA debut against Joe Doyle, settling at featherweight with Nathan Mulligan’s nutrition support, high local turnout expected, and ambitions for multiple 2025 fights and a UFC path. Both frame CMAC MMA as a tight-knit Blanchardstown gym of locals who trained together from their teens and are now breaking into major promotions.

Kind: captions Language: en Diana Joy. Here we go. It's time. Okay. What's going on, guys? And welcome to a brand new episode of Energized, brought to you by Orings Competitions. Russ, are you intoxicated or something? Introduce their guest man. Today we have the 2 and 0 pro. He is the head coach of CMAC. It's the one and only Alex O. Sullivan. Alex, how you doing, my friend? I'm doing great. Yeah, happy to be on and and talking to you guys. You know, it's always a good sign. Means I have a fight coming up mostly and fight is very soon. So, um that always that always excites me, you know. So happy to be absolutely Alex at the moment like CMAC is on fire. The announcements are coming out left, right, and center. Jordan Bradshaw's fighting on Aries. Uh Ka is signed to the PFL. Uh Keith is signed to Cage Warriors. Trev is signed to uh Cage Warriors. Jordan's gone to Aries. Don't know if I said that one already. And you're back in the cage, which we haven't seen you for a while. Like the mood must be at an all-time high in the gym. Yeah, it absolutely is. Yeah. Um like like I was uh just you know like thinking about last year how it was a little a little bit slow last year and we were getting um some sometimes it was hard to find matchups and that kind of thing for our fighters trying to figure out um which way we were going to go with the program and all that kind of stuff and what promotions we were going to get signed with. And then this year I knew it was going to be huge cuz like like that we were putting a lot of work in behind the scenes. Um myself included as well. Even though I didn't fight last year, it was slow for me due to things outside my control. Um, I'm back now and I put a lot of work in. So, everyone in the gym, I think, can see that and feel that and it's going to be it's going to be a massive year now. Yeah, there's there's a serious vibe in the gym momentum wise. Um, it's it's a it's unbelievable to be honest. Do you feel like this is what you've sort of been working for and growing CMAC 2? cuz obviously I suppose in terms of gyms across the country like it's maybe one of the younger gyms but like we could always see the talent was there and you could always see you know the likes of the people who've just recently had those announcements that like they were always going to get there and now they're all sort of turning pro. They're all getting these big uh big moments. They're all signing for these top promotions. Do you feel like this is you know you're about to like I don't know eat the fruit of your loins? Uh yeah, like to a degree, you know. Um like this is the this was one of the goals and like it's not it's not the end goal. There's still a lot more to do. There's a lot more to to to grow. You know, we're going to try and go all the way to the top. You know, this is kind of the start of something new, but like it's also a culmination of a lot of hard work as well throughout like the the years and and the amateur ranks. And I do think it's it's a it's a testament to how hard we work and even the belief we've had in ourselves like that to just be a small gym and build all the way up to where we have fighters fighting in the biggest organizations in the world now, you know. Um I think another little testament to it is the fact that we're all just local lads. like you know it's not like even like anyone's been drafted in from abroad or anything or like you know already like fighters that have that have been made in other gyms or anything like we we're literally training together since we were since we were kids you know Keith and Ke and Ka have been training in the gym since they were like 12 to be honest and uh myself Trevor Jordan you know since we're about 14 15 year old boys like just trying to have something to do nearly Um, and now to see us all, you know, through all the trials and tribulations of the years, through co and and and everything like this that, you know, nearly shut down shut down the gym or maybe would have made us think that this might not be possible. We've all made it to the program now and we've all signed with big promotions, which was always the dream, you know, at the end of the day. So now we just have to now we just have to put on the performances that we know we can and uh prove it to the rest of the world now, you know, and the rest of the the country that we are as good as we believe we are, you know. And tell us this, Alex, what will that fight night look like for you at Kwires? Because obviously you're the head coach in the gym. You're the one who's cornering people, but you're also fighting on the same night. So how how will that work with you cornering Keith and fighting on the same night? Is that is that how it's going to go down or what way will it work? Yeah, that's how it's going to go down. So we've just uh put in a request uh there a few weeks back to just make sure that the fight our fights are a few uh fights separate. So hopefully four or five maybe even six fights in the in the difference so that I can corner keep go back to the chain room and warm myself up and be warmed up by the team and then he'll probably corner me as well to be fair. So, um, like that. I've done things like this before as an amateur, um, throughout throughout the, uh, throughout my years. Like, I've cornered and fought on the same cards multiple times in the past. So, it shouldn't be it shouldn't be anything particularly new or different. It is just like, you know, a little bit more higher stakes and that kind of thing. So, I'm just making sure that everything is is in order. So, as long as everything goes to plan, I should be four or five fights after key and all warm up and then fight. But yeah, to be honest, I just need to keep the adrenaline down a little bit when I uh when I do um corner keep like you know when he comes away with a big win just keep myself locked in and then focus on myself and then go from there and uh yeah but apart from that everything will be as standard you know. Yeah. Kick heat that all the way down to the early prelims and yourself up to the main card there Alex. Um that's the plan. How's it how's it feel to be the man in the gym that is like leading the surge for CMAC? I think it's a it's an important part of the the like the co player coach vibe, you know, that I'm like leading from, you know, from the front. Um like at times I think it would be, you know, easier and there are benefits if I was just a coach. I can focus more on the fighters rather than also focus on my own training and my own fighting. But at the same time, it's it's like unlimited motivation for myself to to improve when I have the other lads when when I'm fighting when I have the other lads there. Like I have to be good for them and I have to prove my what I'm showing them in the cage. So um it feels deadly to be back to be honest. Um like that I've my last fight was the arena in April 29th, 2023. So this would be April 26, 2025. So, it's 2 years, 3 days short of two two years exactly since I last fought. But like that, I haven't been just chilling out. I've been taking it very seriously and putting a lot of work in behind the scenes, you know, moving up to federal weight, gaining uh muscle mass and that kind of thing. I went to Thailand. I did six weeks there in Bangtail and that kind of thing to upskill as a coach and as a fighter and and get different bodies, different training. Me and Key also went to higher level there recently over in Scotland to train with some of the big pros they have there. There are a lot of lads on PFL and Cage wires themselves. So, uh, a lot of work going in behind the scenes, but I'm h I'm happy to be back fighting and I'm, like I say, leading the charge from the front for the gym, you know, that's that's always been the goal. Absolutely. Yeah. And we cannot wait to see you back in action in the RDS on April 26th. Cage Warriors Dublin 188. If you can't get tickets off Alex because they're going out quite fast, you can catch the event live on UC Fight Pass, can't you? Absolutely you can. And this one, this one's an interesting one. There's a bit of a Irish on Irish violence. You're fighting Darth Tman. You've fallen before amateurs. You've trained Ross Carney to fight him before. Tell us this. Uh what what did you think when you got the name Darth Hman across and are you excited for this fight? And do you feel like having a win over amateur means anything for against? Um I am excited to to fight D. I would have preferred probably a foreign opponent just because I like the having like the whole Irish contingent behind you rather than like splitting um the crowd a little bit. But uh you know Dar is a good opponent, a tough opponent and uh a good level to fight. You know this will be his eighth pro fight um and this is my third pro fight. So it's it's nice. It's kind of the the amount of pro experience I want to fight in my third fight and that kind of thing. So Dar is always just a stiff test and he's a he's a tough uh a tough guy. Um I think having the win over him back in the past is a little bit irrelevant at this point just due to how long ago it was. It was nine years ago in February. Um I was just gone 17 at the time. I think Daryl was already in his 20s and so much has changed for the two of us since then, you know. So like uh I'm a you know fully grown man now and I feel obviously I've come on dramatically in that time but so was Dar you know Dar was only 3 and0 at the time when we fought. I think I was five and one or something along those lines and since then you know he went on to have probably like 20 more fights and I I went on to have 25 nearly 30 more fights. So both of us have changed dramatically I imagine. I know I have and I'm sure Dar has too. But uh I do think that time is on my side, you know, because like I say, I was only a young flu when I fought him the first time and I think I'm in my prime now and that's the that's the mindset going in. I'm going to show the level that I'm at um now and I'm going to look to beat him again, you know. Um all respected there. Like I say, he's a tough opponent and a good opponent for the the type of opponent that I want for my third fight, but I'm looking to obviously put on a statement performance out there and show that I'm back in the division now after two years out and and uh going to work my way up the division from there. Yeah, absolutely. Uh apologies you see me going off camera there. Hay fever hay fevers at me. So, you're a pro. So, uh, yeah, Alex, one thing I did want to touch on, obviously you're 2 and 0, two first round armar wins, like very, very impressive, but you are an absolute veteran of the scene over here. You know what I mean? You have more amateur fights than anyone. How fast do you want to climb those ranks of featherweight? Um, you know, as quick as possible, to be honest. Like like I say, I have 30 amateur fights, so I'm not really here to hang around and build slowly as a pro and to take my time and find out um what my style is or like, you know, find out things like this. I think I'm already fairly ready to rock. So, I'd love to I'd love to fly up the ranks if possible and want to shoot for this properly. Now I'm 26 and the two years held me back there with like a medical issue that like I said hadn't hadn't had any, you know, I couldn't do anything about it. You know, at one point I thought I wasn't going to fight again. The doctors were telling me I might not fight again. So now it's it's super to just be back. But now that I am back, I want to be I want to be fully committed and get as many fights in as possible. So talking to Ian Dan and stuff, it looks like, you know, he's he's going to give me three fights this year at the bare minimum. So, you know, the plan is to be 5 and0 at the end of this year and touching on on the top of the cage warriors featherweight division. Um, like that. I'm looking to stay at Feder mostly. That's the plan at the moment anyway. But, um, we'll see how things go, but I feel I feel good at Feder. So, yeah, looking to climb that division now. Yeah, absolutely. Do you look do you look are you one of those ones who will watch everyone in the featherweight division now? You'll look at your Nick Bagleys, your Solomon Simons, uh, your Harry Hardits, etc. Are you looking at them really intently now and being like, "All right, let's let's weigh myself up against these guys." I suppose so. Yeah. Like I mean I have been I have been watching them. Um I have been watching I watch a lot of fights and I've paid a lot more attention to the featherweight division now I suppose that I am in it. Um it's a stack division to be fair. It's absolutely it's absolutely packed full of talent like that. Nick Bagley is up there. Harry Hardwick, Saul, and the guy he's fighting, uh, Christian Jorga. Um, Christian fought George Hardwick for the lightweight belt there not too long ago. I actually beat Christian years ago, um, in the IMAS myself. He's Romanian. Um, and I think he's about eight and one now as a pro or something along those lines. And is there anyone you didn't fight an amateur though, Alex? Is there again? Is there anyone you didn't fight at amateur? I fought a good few anyway. Yeah. So, I fought I fought Christian. So, uh, that's a that's a he's up the top of the division as well, uh, competing against Saul. Um, you know, and, um, there's a few there's a few other lads. I mean, it's it is it's absolutely stacked, but like um I know Lof was competing at Fedway, Alexander Lof. Yeah. Who I fought as well, amateur. Um, and he's he's very good as well. So, there's a lot of uh a lot of match ups there for me in the future. But like that, I'm not really thinking about any of them like right now. You know, obviously it's uh 11 days out and I'm going to be really focused on Darman at the moment because he's what's uh he's what's in my way to access them later. So, um I haven't been focused too much on them as you know at this moment in time just due to the proximity of the fight, but down the line there'll be lots of matchups for me hopefully. Yeah. Yeah. Alex, Alex, you mentioned that you you the doctors told you that you might be able to fight again. like for how long did you think you you'd have to hang the gloves up and then also when did you like realize that you would be able to go and compete again? Um like uh when I first when when I first got like so basically I had like a a stroke. They found I had a stroke when I did my MRI. Um so then they had to find out why that was. And then they found out I had a hole in my heart. So then they were saying, you know, I needed surgery for that and it would be a big big deal to get that done and that would put me out for ages. And then there was like, you know, possibly not fighting again anyway just because having a stroke is is bad. And I was on aspirin for a six month period there and you can't spar or do any really anything on aspirin. So that was putting me out training for a long time. I was just coaching. Um, so then about halfway through last year and I was talking to the doctors and basically they decided they were gonna the hole was very small and maybe the stroke didn't come from it this you know so they decided that like because I'm a man who was 25 I had the agency to decide to to not do the surgery for the heart because it had never troubled me up until this point and that I have to just do a few things to kind of keep track of. So, I have a few extra like kind of precautions I have to take in the leadup to the fights and get doctors to sign off that that I've done. And uh once I do all that, then they'll let me fight again. So, that that's kind of the way the way it was. And then uh I had to just basically then kick myself back into gear because like that I'd kind of not been able to train, I've been out to spar for all of 2024, most of 2024. So, that was one of the reasons I went to Bangtail then at the end of the year to get good span, good bodies in and really lock myself in. And I told um in Dane and on my management team that I was back and then we locked in the fight early January. So I've been in camp for this fight literally since the since the 1st of January. So, I knew I was on it and that was when I yeah, that was when I knew I was back fighting. But like I say, I was told that I could fight uh sometime um about halfway through last year and but like that I was fully out of fighting like um for most of 2024 and the end of 2023 as well. Yeah. Well, look, we're delighted to have you back because your your talent is exceptional and like it would have been very sad to see you have to go out like that, you know what I mean? Uh especially not sort of of of your own regard, you know? So, uh we are delighted to see you back and I'm sure the gym is delighted to see you back as well. I feel like uh that family unit that you have in there is exceptional. Uh I I did want to ask you to maybe give a line on each of the guys who had the big news recently just to hear what your perspective is on them. So uh what are your thoughts on uh Kay the PFL? Uh I I sort of dubbed her as the pound-for-pound best female amateur in the country. And I think that's uh that's an argument that no one else can really make. Uh yeah, I think I think she is to be fair. Um I think she was now now she's gone pro obviously but um she's yeah she's a serious talent and I think everyone could see that. Um you know like sometimes you're you're watching amateur fights and you're even like looking at guys and they're winning they're winning fights and they look good and you're like they're probably going to go pro soon but like just the way Ka's been performing like her calmness in the cage I suppose is the word. um and clinical performances. Um she like that kind of showed me personally as a coach and I think other people that she was ready to make the jump to the big leagues. Um and then winning the IMAF, winning the senior gold, that was our first senior gold as a gym. Um got a lot of medals, but that senior gold is elusive. It's tough to it's tough to come by. So Ka kind of proved that she belongs at right at the top. Um and that's why she got signed to PFL. We went to PFL because obviously the opportunity was presented has presented itself but also like uh she signed with HD Global there one of the management teams and they also have the coa and Chanel Dyer and we're just kind of looking to replicate their successes so far. So Kyle's going to basically walk on walk their path. Um, but obviously, you know, as a as an Irish girl and the, you know, and with that link, will she be over in GB Top Team getting some sparring in over there as well? And we haven't we haven't really actually looked into that yet, but it's a possibility I'm sure down the line. You know, she did a lot with Shauna there. She was sparring Shauna twice a week for the lead up for Shauna's UFC fight. And that's a really really u that's a really really good uh build to have as well. Like Shauna is obviously a UFC fighter and top class in herself in in her own right. So, uh, it's been daily to have her bringing Kai on so much and it really has brought Kai on a lot. Those bars are super super important, not only for just bringing her on technically, but also just showing her that this is the level that she needs to reach, you know, that the level that Sean is at in the OC now. So, that's a really motivating and also um, you know, invaluable experience really and look that she's sparing Tuesday and Fridays before I got six weeks or eight weeks before Sha's fight. really really useful um time period for her area. Absolutely. And then just uh Jordan Bradshaw like we he was meant to make his pro debut on uh Cage Conflict. I think he was meant to make a pro debut on Akuma. Uh you know what I mean? Like we've been waiting for this pro debut for a while and now he's fighting on one of the biggest shows in France. How did that come about? And like how excited are you for Jordan Bradshaw? Yeah, I'm really excited for Jordan. Like um he you know it's it's a mad one for him. Like I mean he's in exactly the same boat as me. He last fought in May 2023 and he'll fight in May 2025. So he's two years out exactly the same as me. But in in the same uh you know the same as me hasn't been just chilling out. He's been working really really hard behind the scenes and I've seen him grow so much over those two years. So I know that he's extremely ready for the pro game and that's why we were ready to fight on cage confict. We already fight and we're ready to fight on elite SC. So we had three pull outs for our pro debut so far. most of them on fight week. It's been absolutely heartbreaking stuff for me as a coach for him. But to be honest, he's he's been resilient and he hasn't let it he hasn't even let it get to him to be honest. He's he's training so hard. Um you know, uh I gave him I gave him the hardest worker at the gym award last year and and like that was without him having any fights, you know what I mean? Like most time most of the time people who are getting that award have multiple multiple fights that year because they're training. Without having any fights, he was just training his balls off all year. improving. So he signed with Barry O' Callahan which is Alpha Fighter Management and that you know a testament to Barry he's after getting him on Aries which is one of the biggest shows and it's the type of show that Jord wanted to be on. Um he's on his own he's on his own journey where like he wants these tough tests. Yeah. Um he fights really well abroad as well. He fights really well away from home in the IMAS and that kind of thing. So I think this is really going to sue him. Um he has a tough opponent for his debut, but this is exactly what he wanted and what he needed and what he's been training so hard for. So I'm really excited for him to show his level now after two years out of cage as well on a huge promotion like Aries and like that he signed of with them. As far as I know, he's the first Irish fighter to actually sign with Aries. So we'll have a few fights over there in France for sure. Now I think he's I think he's five fights, four fights I think he has with Aries. Yeah. So that'll be very fun. And one last one big Trev Mango. How hard is it to keep that man in check? H especially after that pro debut win. He was high as a kite afterwards and now he's signed the cage warriors. He he he's some character. Love him and he's he's got the skills to pay the bills as well. Yeah. Know he is he he's a he is a great talent to be fair. Um and we always knew he was you know he's unbelievably fast for such a big guy. That's always been his thing, you know. So I always knew he can go far. Keeping him keeping him grounded does be tough at times. Like some people think that he's a character that he plays a character like online, but like that's just who Trevor is to be honest. Like this is this is a he's always been like this, you know, like when he before he even had any fights, he was already showing up to the debs with two girls and a cane. Honestly, he brought he brought two girls to the Debs. I think he had a purple suit and a cane for his like, you know, dabs honestly when he was 17, 18, when I was like 17. Trevor's always been the same. You know, he's 25, 26 now. Nothing's really changed except that he's shown everyone how good he is at MMA, you know, but he always believed that this was the case. So, um, keep keeping him grounded is tough at times, but it's also why he's so good because he believes in himself so much and and he uh that's why he will make it, you know. I think in his weight division, it's really exciting as well because he's only got two, three, four, five fights. Yeah. Yeah. And then he's into like the big leagues because there's just uh not that many in his way. So you're going to see him shoot right to the top now to be honest. Um with Kwar hopefully looking to get onto the UFC in the next few years for him really quick like he'll probably uh breeze past me and Ke um when you know with the speed that he can make it as long as he racks up a few wins and he is he's very very talented. So just keeping keeping his head on this on his shoulders is uh is my main mission and then uh and send him out there and just get put them put him into the opponents like you know but he actually is very technical as well when it comes to fighting. He's not just like all over the shop. No he is very technical. He put put on a great performance but no like great get your thoughts on the gym because obviously uh you know you can write them on Instagram post or something like that but it's nice to hear hear from yourself as their head coach. But uh yeah look two girls to the d I'm I'm almost certain like maybe maybe I'm like throwing him under the bus. Maybe they didn't know. Maybe it was four. I'm almost certain he has two the two girls. Yeah. But what what a guy. What a guy. Uh no, but look, the gym is doing really really well. So like congrats yourself and obviously Deb as well. Uh obviously other talent in the gym as well like your Jake guys. Uh hopefully we see Ross Carney back uh sooner rather than later. Uh and it goes on and on. So, like look, uh, congrats um to all the success that the gym recently and we can't wait to see the main man back April 26th. Uh, you and Dar an Irish versus Irish affair. We can't wait to see it. A lot of fans will be interested in that. Big time. Yeah, I can't wait to I can't wait to put on a special performance. I really, really can't. And show the work we've been putting in the gym and I've been putting in over the last two years. So, I appreciate you guys having me on and uh I'm like I say, I'm looking forward to next week and I'm I'm going to put on a performance. All the best, bud. Look after yourself. Well, Alex, thanks a million for your time and we'll let you get on with the rest of your day, bud. Thank you. The enjoy show up the Ross. Here's Keith Yo, bud. Yeah. From head coach to head pupil. Here we go. The one and only, the submission machine, Kiko undefeated. He's fighting on Cage Warriors against Joe Doyle April 26. Keith, welcome to the show. And how much are you looking forward to fighting in Cage Warriors on a big show April 26th? Yeah, thanks for having me, lads. Yeah, lad. Listen, it's Cage Warriors, isn't it? I don't think like any for especially in the Irish and UK sing is like they don't be excited uh having even the chance of finding that cage warriors and then like being offered a full contract and them like really wanting it as well. Like it's not just like a take or leave. It's like you know that they're coming and they're asking you. It's like it's it's surreal a little bit. It's it's surreal but it's normal at the same like I know how good me level is. So it's a bit like [ __ ] It's realizing how good you are at the same time kind of [ __ ] this this is where I am. This is where I should be. And then I'm fighting on the biggest promotion in Europe in me [ __ ] in Dublin as well. Like I haven't fought Dublin in [ __ ] since I was a kid. Sorry for the language. But I haven't fought Dublin since I'm a kid. Like really and truly I think I was at a K14 or something like that. So I haven't fought an MMA fight in Dublin ever actually. So uh like it's just it's unbelievable. It is just surreal like you know. Yeah. Double 15 is going to be absolutely empty on April 26 for yourself and Alex on the card. You know what I mean? Uh obviously big big times for the gym at the moment. Uh massive news coming out every single day it feels like coming out of the gym. H we asked Alex about the about the buzz but uh you tell us about the buzz in the gym at the moment with yourself, Trev, Ka, Jordan, Alex all announcing big news and all having big fights coming up. Yeah. Yeah. Like that. Well, that's it. Like the gym is absolutely it's it's flowing at the minute like you know what I mean? So like obviously like Trev's son as well there with cage warriors like you know what I mean and like you know how much noise he makes like he's [ __ ] he's he's flat on the social medias and he's an absolute unbelievable fighter. So that's like a great sign of a cage warers like it's a no-brainer like you know he's going to like just [ __ ] especially like the like even you know yourself if you're looking at heavyweights or light heavyweight just it's more intriguing like you know what I mean it really is he who's the best fight Ireland blade in the planet in Europe because they're that that big so he's going to like [ __ ] just take off there obviously me myself and Alex are already there well I had just signed and then Alex has already fought and then Jordan what's signing for Arias is [ __ ] like that's like selling out stadiums and no doubt obviously Jordan's going to go over And then obviously KO is that sign of a PFL as well which is like an absolute mental achievement like PFL like for for herself like it's it's the gym is absolutely flying. Yeah, absolutely. And I suppose uh you're get you're getting the fruit of your labor now and like things things are all coming up but where do you see the gym in maybe two or three years time? Like everyone's sort of just gone pro effectively like you know I mean like Alex has the most pro fights at two. Like where do you see the gym in two or three years time? like how how far can you can you ride this this train? I think sky's is the limit, isn't it? I don't think there's a cap on being like, "Oh, we're going to be here." I just think there's unlimited like it's we we can literally make it wherever we want. Whether it's two years, 5 years, 10 years, the gym is going to be like one of the best gyms in on the island. Like, you know what I mean? I think it's just because like it's a we hadn't had that many pros like we hadn't had a big pro team because we were all really starting out as amateurs. But I think now that the the bigger the gym gets, the more fights we have, the more higher profile fights we have. The gym is just gonna skyrocket. Like we can't get like enough people like the gym like the the waiting list like I don't know Alex probably touched on it with herself but it's like it's like she can't get into it at the minute and everybody trains local. That's the thing as well like there's not people traveling from miles off like which we will start having that but I mean like everybody that's down like obviously the five pros there like your name we all live walking distance like we all literally live walking distance Trevor's across the road from me Alex is down the road Jordan's up the road obviously co's there as well like with Alex so there's five pros there that are all in walking distance and we're all just doing it like from Blanch we're all doing it like local so you see a lot of other gyms and people traveling all we're all doing it from a local like we're all from the community. So the bigger it gets people going to be like I want to train with him and it's already happening. You see problems come down and spiring with us they're going to be like oh [ __ ] these are all little like you know and it's a good vibe around the gym. We're all trying to be better so everybody's welcome to come down and train. So I think the bigger the profile fights that we get the more like success we have. It's just going to keep growing and growing. I think sky's is the limit like you know what I mean? Look, obviously like me, Trev and Alex H all have 181 contracts. We have a for cage where you so that's the direct route to the UFC and then obviously whatever and K and then you have obviously Jake and Henry and then stuff like that coming up and then all the other amateurs as well. God knows where the gym can be like you know really and truly. Yeah, absolutely. The win rate is incredible at the moment Basmo isn't it? Oh no it is like the C market blowing up right now like the amount announcements start coming out it's crazy. But uh Keith, Keith, I want to bring you back to when Alex won in the tree arena on Cage Warriors and then like the whole team came in and you all embraced. It was a it was a great moment for Semac getting on the getting on that card. When after after that fight for Alex and getting the win, were you like right Cage Warriors is that's for me. Yeah. Yeah. Like it was like it was it was surreal. Like it wasn't like I always wanted to be on Cage Warrior. It was just the way obviously the production was run. It was like everything around that was just it was top class. It was top class. But like not even for myself but just even for his win like and how hard he worked and stuff. It was the moment itself was unbelievable. Like I remember like me Jordan and Ro talking to each other. They were like that was [ __ ] it's like it was it was like winning yourself. Do you know what I mean? But then obviously yeah like the way the production was ran the way everything was just set up. It was like that's that's where you need to be isn't it? Like that's that's what I want to do. I've always wanted to fight on Cage Warriors and then just obviously being there and being around the atmosphere I was like, "Yeah, like this is where I'm going to be." Yeah. And you're going to look very much at home in there with the yellow gloves on. Uh one thing I do want to ask is uh obviously we've seen you uh talk about bantweight and this fight's a featherweight uh with the pro debut was also featherweight. Is is is this the home now Keith featherweight or or is there still talks about bante or are you undecided? No, I think I think fella like um I'd have to say like obviously like I've had Nate McGillian on board now with me um as a nutritionist and it's been absolutely like like le having him like really and truly has been a big addition to this camp you know he's really helped me in so many ways even like I know coming into fight and all have me plan ready for fight and stuff now being this good for fight week but even the conditioning I'm in obviously from Gaziki as well like I'm putting on like serious muscle and stuff like that and just look better shape. I think I'm like grown into a proper fed away. Like I thought I fed away for years but I was like you know I touched on this lot. I was weighing in at like 64 and a half and 65 was always under that weight. I've never had to cut still haven't had to cut your pro. I didn't have to cut and water loaded. Do you know what I mean? So now hopefully I don't even think I might even have to cut or make it water load and and and stuff like that and then maybe have to do a little bit of a cut. But like we'll see what happens like outside of camp. We'll see how big I get up to like you know check me body fat see can I lose any like they would they would all prefer to wear it's like right I'm not taking away from me muscle and me strength sometimes cutting weight isn't the answer like especially for longevity people want to cut like loads of weight I want to have I want to enjoy me camp I enjoy me camp I love this camp to bits you know what I mean I can I can be fuel for me training I can go in there and train and give me 100% when you're when you're cutting your calories that low and stuff you start to get injuries and it's just horrible then you you get fat you get eating disorders well I already have one of those so that's out the window. But just in general, like you know, it's just horrible like killing yourself with that. Like just fight. You're a fighter. That's the main thing. Be healthy, get to like have your longevity. And I think the way I'm doing it is right. I'm not doing big weight cuts. I'm fighting. I trust in me skills. And that's the main thing. Performance over everything first and foremost. So at the minute, I'm happy where I'm at. I'm happy where I'm at. I'm happy at 66. So I find out we can if we go and get me test done maybe with Nate and find out that right if we could take away all this fat outside the camp and make 61 and go over it. But I I don't think so. team at home. Happy at 66. Fair. Fair. Is Nathan part of the same team as Yanick? Is he? Yeah. Yeah. So he works on the Yanick. So he has the Yanick Yanick Extensions program and then like on board like we've been talking like like since we've been in Albania and he's become like a mate obviously myself and Alex and stuff and honestly he's been such a big addition to me just the the resources him and Yanick and stuff provide is unbelievable. It really is like and uh like I've actually been so wanted to work with them like for this camp. It's just even like I I know it's like having someone there to in the back of your mind telling me this are you're doing well. Here's what to eat this week. Here's your new plan. Follow it. It's such a big stress off me. Like a big weight off my shoulders. Um and like he's been absolutely unbelievable. I have to say I suppose it takes the the thought out of it a lot of the time for you. You don't have to think about it. You're told what to do. So that, you know, makes it that more easier. You're not calculating stuff. He's doing all that for you. So shout shout out to them. Like a lot of people in the country are using them and you can see why uh people are using them. They're they are very very good. So we can't wait to see it. But uh tell us this April 26, Joe Doyle. Bit bit of bit of a mad one. I feel like uh we we posted the fight news when it came out and uh didn't know too much about Joe Doyle, if anything at all. and all of a sudden like this this post blows up uh both for yourself and himself. Uh a lot of a lot of fanfare about this one. But uh what did you know about Joe Doyle and are you surprised at how much of a following he has uh within within the country? Yeah, like to be honest I I didn't hear too much of him up until like I heard we actually have a neighbor Phil and Phil train in the same gym as him and Phil was on about him and I'd never heard of him. So like I kind of like let him blow over me head and then I had James Mun his name is doing pads with me and he was talking about him. They all trained the same gym h and like I catch pad with James and stuff like that and they're talking about him and then James is like oh he's at getting off of the contract and the lads honestly I hadn't heard of him either and then I like when I got offered like obviously I looked into him seeing he had like some amateur fights and then he's he's a kickboxing background and stuff like that and that's that's that's that's how I heard him. Let's be honest like you know as yourself like it's it's an island like everybody knows each other on the MMA game didn't know him especially when he's at their own mate like you get talking to people at show and stuff didn't know who he was seen he had like a a kickboxing background stuff like that got over the fight didn't matter who who he was on cage where he man the biggest show in Europe give me whoever I know how good I am so like yeah like just let's go let's [ __ ] do it I was just happy to get a name at all because I got the contract a few weeks went by and they like here here's this fella. Yeah. So, give me a contract line. Boom. Yeah, absolutely. And like he seems to be around one merchant. I think all his amateur fights have finished in the first round. So, are you expecting him to come out out the gates quick? I don't know. I'm expecting myself to come out the gates quick. That's all I know. Fair. Fair. And uh yeah, it's it's not it's not like you're uh not used to first round finish yourself. Yeah. No. Well, that's it. like I can't control what everybody else like how anybody else fights. I just know my own ability. People spend too much time looking into their opponent, looking at this and that that I know like I've been in there this too many times and that's that amateur experience that I have in MMA has given me like absolute 100% confidence in myself. I've know I'm at being in there with some killers in the IMAS on the region. I'm at being in there with the best fighters in the country in Europe in the world. I'm at being in there with the best of them. I've lost one fight in a split decision which I went to like I broke me face and I still thought came out. I thought I won. So I know I'm in there that I can do this that no matter who you throw me, I'm going to be in there and I'm like a dog. Me cardio is great. I'm I'm just I'm in there from the start to the finish and I love being in there. I love fighting. I love everything about it. So I control what I can do and that's all that's all you can do. Do you know what I mean? You can't think like people look into everything too much and like how you feeling and are you excited? Are you nervous? And it's like I'm nothing. Like I'm I'm it's fighting. This is me life. Like it's it's like people go to work. This is it for me. I train. I come home. I fight. Like that that's it. Fair. Fair. And like uh I I could understand that like this I suppose this is your job, but this is also it feels like it's your calling as well. When it comes to fight night itself, do you feel like you you'll savor that moment? You know, when you're making the walk out, when you're you know, you're you're getting your hands wrapped, you're putting on those yellow gloves for the first time. Do you feel like you'll really savor that moment while while you're there? Oh yeah. Oh, without doubt. Like I have lots of people coming from the area and stuff like that. Like you know what I mean? There'll be probably 100 odds like coming coming up. You know what I mean? So like the whole area like every time I get stopped. I think it was in the spar the other day and I heard April 26k where it is then like stuff like that. But like I walking down the road and everyone stopped me saying, "Oh, how do I get tickets?" And stuff like this. So I know it's not just even myself now. like the whole area is like saying like Jesus Christ like well done like it's kind of a moment for for a lot of people like so I'm going to definitely enjoy I love me walking I've mentioned this a lot of times like the minute I walk out it's like this is it let's go like I to be buzzed up like that's the adrenaline kicks in and I'm I'm there from the minute the music kicks in. You know what I mean? So I'm definitely going to like it's it's cage where this is a big thing but I can't look past the fight. That's what I'm thinking about. 100%. That's when I'm going to h I'm going to enjoy every bit of it. Yeah, absolutely. And uh obviously like Keith, like in the amateur scene, you've been so used to competing so regularly. How how how often do you want to get out for the rest of the year after uh your cage warriors debut on the 26th? Yeah, look, I want to be I want to kind of be back in like you see with a lot of Irish to kind of hold them off for the Irish cards. I I want to be as active as possible. I want to get going. I want to be in the UFC. This is it. I want to be I want to have this. Obviously, me main focus this fight, win this fight, those cards in London in July. Those cards in Manchester, you know, in the end of June and there'll be another doubling of cards from what I'm hearing in October and November. I'll definitely be on that and then hopefully get another one. So, I would at least have two, but I want to get the three in. You know what I mean? I'm three I'll be four and0 going into the end of the year. I'll be just on 2024 in May. So I'll be four and0 24 looking to have two fights three fights a section and I'm looking at the UFC like you know what I mean. So I'm looking to yeah get in and get in get me get me wins or get me fights get me wins and get them as quick as possible. Yeah absolutely and look we can't wait to see you know I think that's where that IMAP experience really stands to see it that like quick turnarounds ready to rock you know what I mean? So, and look, you're uh you're definitely one of the most exciting fighters uh that is in the country at the moment to be honest. Like, you know, even even take it back to, you know, the nationals that time you know when you got the submission win over Roland Degan that time like you know that went viral at the time like it was it was an incredible submission and like that's what people look forward to when they see Kiko. You don't actually know which way he's going to finish the fight. You know what I mean? We saw the last fight he finished on the feet. We've seen some of the crazy submissions you you guys uh throw out in Cac, you know what I mean? Don't forget taking guys ego platter. Who who knows what's coming? I think that's what uh people love, the unknown. Yeah, 100%. Like I don't I think people underestimate me and like I'm I'm an MMA fighter. Like I'm I know what Well, like I'm I'm really good in there at making decisions. That's the one thing I know about myself. Like there some people that you see them that they're really good and they make stupid decisions. I always make the right decisions in fights. Do you know what I like you know whether it's going to the back or you know shooting for takedown when you need to shoot for a takedown or you know doing the right things I know myself and like having Alex's confidence like in backing me and telling me that that I know I always will make the right decision in a fight like I love the bigger moments like I I perform better in bigger moments I I do things right under pressure some people welcome and some people try to you know get in and get out there I don't I like fighting I get in I make the right decisions and if I find um submissions or or KOs or whatever present themselves then I'll go for him but I always make the right decisions and fights and that's why having that many that that many fights in MMA against top opponents stands for me you know yeah absolutely and like it goes to showing there and I suppose the record definitely goes showing there as well like you know I mean at amateur I know you were what 15-1 like could have easily could easily been 16 and0 you know in just uh someone's opinion I suppose is it was the difference but uh look Keith like this is going to be a massive night for gym. Massive night for yourself. Uh tell tell us uh who who doesn't get their flowers in the gym in your opinion? Who's someone on the up and up who maybe we're not hearing about? Who's the unknown prospects in CMAC that in a year or two's time we're going to be like right that guy that guy or girl is is the man or the woman. Yeah. know there's a lot like there there's a lot of like talent say on the amateurs but it's I think it's more so like you see like like the the the teens and stuff like that coming up like you have like Kim Rickard he's only 18 and J and all they're only in it like a year or two but like they're absolutely they're taking in everything you know what I mean like you see them coming before class like say your class is on the pro class and they're sitting there and they're looking and then you they get in and because the sport is evolving they're learning all these new techniques brand new like you know what I mean like if a few years ago you see the old like the older way of teaching styles and it's not really around. They're learning from brand new scratch the modern MMA and you see people like that. We've also like a great amateur team like you have like Daniel Eric Maru who was making his debut like he's going to be flying if he like he's if he gets going he's only 2021 and he's he should have fights a couple of years but he's absolutely brilliant. Gav McCain can also fight. But yeah, I think it's going to be some of the new teams and stuff like that coming out of gym that you're gonna you're gonna definitely see like Jake and Kendrick record and stuff like that. That's if they want to pursue a career. It's all well and good saying you have all these good young in the gym, but whether people actually want to fight and and and do it full time is a different thing, you know. Yeah. Fair, fair. No, it just it just seems to be uh you know, you're you're you're turning out the prospects time and time again, and it's exciting to see what's coming next. like the the team is only going from strength to strength and we love watching it, you know what I mean? It's it's great to see uh especially seeing yourself on the coaching team now as well. Yeah. Oh yeah, I wonder. And uh key can just before you sort of wrap things up, have you like been in contact with Joe or has Joe reached out to you? No, no, no. I I like I don't like I'm not one for that to be fair. Like it is it's a fight. You know what I I think there's like mutual respect there because like obviously be no mutual people and stuff like that like transition to fight and that that's it like you know so like we'll fight but we'll shake hands probably have a point and that'll be it. Do you know what I mean? So there's there's been no back and forth or any of that crack but uh yeah obviously there will be able obviously but that's how that's how it goes. I heard he's big. I said I heard he's big. No, it's funny about United. No, it's just funny how CMAC are the only gym to have to to be taking on like like someone else from from this country as well. So, it is Yeah, it is interesting. Um, sorry, Keith. We had Alex on beforehand. We had you on. Now, this is the CMAX special today. Um, for people tuning in, as we said earlier, make sure to get on to Keith or Alex for tickets for Cage Warriors. Do they rather later? Yeah, like this. This event is one of tickets. That's all new. I think it's only cage tickets left. Okay. But then get up close and personal and watch. Get them that fly now. Yeah. If you look in the ref, let us know. You could get in the cage with the lads. But uh if you cannot make the event, it will be live on UC Fireass. Cage Warriors double event is always mustsee TV. Uh Keith, is there anything you want to say to the people tuning in now? They're looking forward to seeing you back in action on the 26th of April. Just want to thank honestly thank all me sponsors, me family, everybody for like for me that's been there for me camp like you know what I mean? Me misses everyone like it's it's been like I've known about this since January. So I've been just locked in since January. Obviously all me sponsors, everybody from CMAC, me family, me board, everybody that's been there just honestly want to say a big thank you because you know when you miss out on a lot of stuff because you can't go here I can't go there and your family out there and like everybody's there to support it really does mean a lot. So I just wanted to really thank everybody and obviously 20 26th of April I'm going to uh you know give it back to them but he's getting the win. That's it. Can't wait to see it. Kiko one of the hottest prospects the country has ever seen. He will make his Cage Warriors Pro debut uh come April 26. He's 1 and0. He's looking to go two and0. Not a bother to him. Can't wait to see it. Big fight as B said. Be there. Be square. And if not, watch on UFC fight pass. CMAC special over and out. The energy show up the So Ross, that was a Cmac lads. It absolutely was. Uh absolutely buzzing for Cage Warriors 188. is going to be an absolute phenomenal show. It's getting more and more stacked by the day. Yeah, the countdown is on and that is why you have to make sure to tune in uh to the event that is going to be live on UC5 Pass. We will be there covering the event as well. So, if you head on over to our Instagram page, uh you can see all the buildup as well. And if you are new to the channel, make sure to like and subscribe cuz we are here every week, Ross. We absolutely are. And speaking of Cage Warriors, going down this weekend, Cage Warriors 187 in Glasgow. Sean Clancy Jr. is your main event. Uh this is his first ever Cage Warriors main event. He's getting a lot of promotional push. H a win here could see him fighting for the welterweight title next. No doubt about it. Also, there's a massive fight between Reese Mchun and Wesy Maya on UFC bypass. Uh Ross, speaking of UFC, UFC 314 went down over the weekend in Miami. The main event indeed the main event ma Maxi's best mate, Alexander Vulcganowski defeated Diego Lopez. Ross, what did you make of this fight? And are you surprised Vog is now the world champion again? I actually picked Vog going into this fight. I think uh I think Diego Lopez is good, but I think he's a little bit too wild at times. And I think Vulcanovski is so such a uh he's so tactically astute. I think that's why he was able to pick off the likes of Max Holloway before. Uh and that's why he was able to go toe-to-toe with Islam Machev. Uh he is one of the best fighters the UFC has ever seen. And for me it was quite a clear uh win for Alexander Vulcanoski. I know I think there was one maybe one 48 47 on the on the scorecards but I think uh also probably great confidence builder to see got dropped at the end of the second round and came back and uh you know obviously Gav getting knocked out by Taporia and knocked out by Makv that's that's going to really uh sort of play on your mind but uh he's the first ever UFC fighter to win a belt coming off two losses so shout out to Vog and he also is the first fighter over the age of 35 to win a strap uh of I think it's is 155 pounds and below. So uh fair play to the vulk. Fair play to vulcanoski. Uh as he said after it stuff like that is what uh books and movies are made of. Yeah the thing in the movie. You play Max um Christian Li. Christian Li. Um, everyone always wants to know who's what's next for Vog. Yeah, I think it's going to Mov. I think uh he's undefeated for a very long time, but like don't rule out the likes of uh Lauron Murphy. Don't rule out the likes of Y Rodriguez who got a shut out victory over uh Pit Bull as well. So like I think EvoVev is the front runner, but who knows? Like I wouldn't rule out one of the others as well. Very interesting, Ross. Very interesting. Then in the co-main event, Patty the Batty Pimlet defeated Michael Chandler. Ross, going into this fight, who who was your favorite? And then when Patty got the win, what did you make of the victory and performance? I was I predicted Patty to win, but I also think like I wasn't expecting to be as dominant. I think uh he really beat him for pillar post. He Patty looks huge in there. He made Chandler look like a featherweight. He he really really beat him up badly. Uh, Chandler was left like a bloody mess afterwards and uh, I think people need to start start finally putting some respect on Patty Pimlet's neck. What about Kobe Coington and Patty the baddies back and forth? Well, like whatever it whatever it takes stay relevant for Colby. That's that's what he does. And uh, I felt like that was another W on the win column for Patty. So, two and0 he went that night and he took home the 50k bonus. So, uh, yeah, things are all coming up. Patty Pima and I think you know him versus Justin Gates he wouldn't be an absolute barn burner next. I'd love to see that. Uh but also it wouldn't be against him versus Charles Oliver as well because I feel like they're probably closest stylewise against each other. That's the thing. It seems like the whole fight week he was pushing potentially fight Olivier next. I know post fight he said that he like he'd fight Connor. Obviously the gate name the Porier's name. There is talk of Porier fighting Max Holloway for the third time in Louisiana. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, I think main event. What fight would be would you like to see the most though? I think the GI fight is like super attractive. I think like on paper I think like it could be an absolute barn burner. Uh I think stylewise I think it could play out somewhat similar to the channel fight for Patty. I think it's the best style fight for him to get his hand raised in. So like give me that. You think so? Yeah. Yeah, I think so. Like I think the way he fights is so almost unorthodox at time. Like I mean he sort of throws loop and punches. He does like you know he keeps distance very well with his kicks and stuff like that. So like I'd be I'd be all for it, you know what I mean? And then obviously on the ground he's he's a phenom, you know what I mean? Like uh when he gets that uh top uh position again against Channer, you know what I mean? Like Channer had no answers for it. So, uh, I'll probably see somewhat similar for a fight with him and Gachi, you know, and then what what to see next for the lightweight division? I think it seems a bit up the air like people are talking about is Islam going up to 170 now and like will he vacate the belt or you know uh I think the way I sort of foresee it going is we'll probably do Max Holloway versus Dustin Porier for the BMF belt. I think that's going to be next. Patty versus Gi and Oliviera versus Ilia Porier. I think I think they're the fights that are coming down the pipe. And if one of them is for the belt, if Islam is gone, I would say the Tapora versus Oliver ones for the belt. It's very interesting. I'd rather see Patty fight Oliviera. Yeah. So, well, like I don't know. I think they're both super intriguing matches. Yeah. Do you know what? Yeah. Like I sort of want to see them both to be honest. I I think no. I think Patty versus Justin and Deoria versus Gi. And then the winners of those two fight each other. I'm all about versus Olivia. Yeah. And then Sukin's just sort of like he's like, "What about me, lads?" Yeah. But I feel like, you know, I feel like he he messed up with his getting sick fight like cuz I feel like people don't overly believe that. Yeah. And then like just just because there is options there. It's just like which is great. But we were talking a few weeks ago about stars in MMA and how doesn't like it feels like the UC are lacking in stars like hence why they're after announcing Shauna now to face Morab again after like his last Shauna's last fight was against Morab and people are saying why are they doing this and even that press conference wasn't that intriguing but Patty Devati is without doubt one of the top five biggest stars in the UFC. Yeah, absolutely. He He's definitely up there at the moment. He's definitely something that the people love to see. And I think also people like sort of doubting his skill all the time and like picking holes in his game, then him keep on winning, keeps on like sort of uh keeping his name in the spotlight as well. Uh he's someone who everyone nearly has an opinion of. Obviously Kobe Compton uh wouldn't be having a go with him if he didn't think he had a bit of star power. So uh I'm not surprised uh at that either. And yeah, I think what you know the Morab and Shaomi press conference, I actually think Juliana Pena and um Kate Harrison actually like stole the show there. Like their back and forth was far more intriguing than anything the lads had to say and they are doing a great job of selling their fight. I think I also think if um Kayla Harrison can win, I feel like she can uh put a lot of spotlight on a lot of uh eyes back on the women's fighting division. Yeah. And Amanda Nunees was there and she was saying that she will come back as well. So that's definitely something to keep an eye on. Um Ross, this weekend there is no UFC, but on the same night as Cage Warriors, Ian Garry headlines UFC Kansas City against Bratz as well. So that is like that's that's an absolutely huge night for Irish MMA. Yeah, Ian Garry is taking on another undefeated uh fighting streak. The Fighting Nerds are 19-0 um in the UFC. And we just saw John Silva choke out um Bryce Mitchell there at the weekend as well. So uh Ian Garry takes on the boogie team uh of the UFC in the fight nerd. So look uh tall task somewhat of a lose-lose situation for Ingari. If he wins he was meant to win and if he loses you know that damages his stock but uh Ingar's always been a risk taker in his fighting career and he'll continue to do so. Yeah, and we'll be covering that more on next week's Energy Show. Um, Ross, Keen Cowi from SPG Ireland and Warriors Gym is the new Gala MMA welterweight champion. Ross, he got the victory in round one. What did you make of Keen Cow's winning performance? Ke beat that man so bad. It looked like he robbed his wallet. Uh, it looks like he was pickpocketed. He robbed his wallet and like just those those kicks to the ground while he was on the ground like like it was actually so vicious. I I you know what it made you actually feel bad for your uh his opponent and I saw a few people in the comments were sort of saying uh oh he must be a bin man or whatever but like the way I looked at it he went over to Denmark follow Danish champ was probably been brought over there to lose being honest. Uh but there was no there was no doubt he was the superior fighter uh after that after that performance.
