champion a rugby sevens or a sensation the heart Pro reg O'Shea shared that some intro there's gonna be a lot of Limerick splash the debate about the good-lookin toy I'll take it it focused about an error that damage know that my Instagram boy you know they're you know Greg I'm actually in my family house in Limerick so I came back here because everything that's going on with the coronavirus but usually a little bit don't they usually live in Dublin yeah well where is a north south side don't roam right side a shopping centre so it's a good yeah we're bhaji base you in the north side no oops yeah proper domes you like I'll see you're an athlete how are you keeping active during this coronavirus go now uh so yeah crazy man especially with the Olympics being that postponed known that was kind of the big target for the sevens team so it's kind of all a bit crazy but it's crazy for everyone every team across the world so basically what's been done is we've been sent out a train and program to get done and we're doing double sessions everyday the different we're trained in a way but doing it by ourselves and actually went and bought in an assault for today so I'm I won't be stuck for something to do come on yeah obviously we can't like get into things whenever talking about low bar right well like you must be used to sort of this sort of lockdown situation as well so it's probably not yeah on you then it is other people you know it's a scary house funny Oh like similar it is the situation right now like we used to just get up only in two weeks but now we should just get up shower get change and then go out the back yard and like for the whole days oh the only thing that's missing is cameras and um a lot of girls walk around every game before you like them for seem actually q hold the record of being in Louisville and for the shortest men poem on window hey man it's crazy I don't I don't think there's been a winner that hasn't been there since day one and me just to swoop in at the end and we feel like the look is matador like you couldn't write that stuff I think the orders really got behind it as well because it was just so funny like I had my oh yeah farmer's tan and everything like that so it just worked out it was funny very lucky man yeah one thing I wanted to say right when I first saw you go on the show I was like he just seems like an actual lat there was they were tell you were important and on or it was actually just quite refreshing and also being Irish as well like I'm having more on the show as well it just made the whole country really sold in on it yeah I think that's the great thing about all your peoples that they get behind no matter what's going on as long as the people's all your sake you'd be playing badminton in the middle of Africa somewhere so more affluent flag and I'm really well and I say to everyone they're like how did you win it like I'm like any fella from anyway mace anywhere I could have gone in it would have been the same story like it's just kind of the way we are I think I contrasted with the English lines a lot in that sense and people just kind of related to me in the pork and so very so cumin yeah because we're friends and people with some of your teammates on this row B sevens like Ian and Jordan and like we're watching their stories during the journey like he did count down for you winning and they were just sharing you know so more it's like everyone got really excited it's cool yeah yeah there's some of my best mates know in the team and that's the greatest thing about the seven seems that we're all made of soy to Robbie and but they all had an unbelievable time like I think they went into Z Cordy to or somewhere in Dublin and just had you literally all my friends from school from rugby from home the only way so he was there they're having a better time than oh yeah would be recognized anywhere I'm like just place obviously in yourself media apps it like blow I mean like over a million Instagram followers remember when people who pay so much money to actually have Kingdom I know it's probably wasted I mean to be honest yourself just comes last day yeah and the funniest part that people don't realize is when I decided not to keep dating amber I he last 400,000 followers within like couple days like think about that I put that in context that's like for opportunities to me that I would have never had before and point are you're not gonna get ahead of myself because you can all be taken away from you straight away and the lads are making sure that is up a lot worse up like jokes unearth like when you went on like a lot of like we were like who and are on a crash go on because obviously the year before Rob lips it was honor I think it was the first person on it and then like anymore as well but then like you're an extra bother you it like that came that guy's a total left like a curveball you no one expected that you know yeah it was a weird and I was actually supposed to do equipments and they came back again be like we push the deadline when you come in at the end and so it's undeterred sure he does if only got me going and it just worked out well even already know that story that but actually said no twice and I ended up winning the thing so ok I'm treating me and keeping me that's it yeah it works I'm sure I'm sure some people watching now would like loath to go on the show I mean whether it be for the Royal wrong reasons how did you actually end up on it and like who did you saw an all-ports someone approached - you know they actually find you in post media they find you like walk around the streets and like restaurants or shops or something or you can apply yourself and today galantamine instagram and ask you where to go for interviews and worked out so I say there's a lot of kind of people looking at it no Irish people would be like that I think in a phrase used to make domain the main thing to get on yeah yeah well like people like AVI and Anton they both employed themselves look at them know like hey baby what's that he brewed a bacon it was on the Great British Bake Off it was terrible yeah no shows you can trigger on any of the show still me staying relevant I suppose and that's why I kind of as a mighty storage moved to London and be in a celebrity lifestyle and I'm happy here my little in Ireland maybe that memory of you kicking in you know or ta still doing a bit of work or tea yes or two of em get me a gig as a presenter straightaway when I came out of the villa and like all you have see you're already experienced so that was Tommy Strahan and it worked out well because Darren guarantee basically renders show and I just gonna supplemented our end oh I really enjoyed it and the listenership with him like 7,000 and soft so it was great and then yeah Holmen came back and I was grand deadly got a gig with verge media and TV learned all the ins and outs of that like read not a queue and certain questions Darla stuff which alien to me but as great experience yeah I said before the TV over the radio so you can get up later yeah so I do not really know what the plan is for me I kind of had the rugby and I've been given a taste of TV and radio know some and I also have a law which I was always a long-term plan become a solicitor so I don't know where I go and what I'm doing lndia options yeah me regular is a total package beauty brains and the looks well those of you before we move into Ruby I just want to say they just see this season's no one that there was actually no Irish people on it like let's make it out because you want it amaura was probably the biggest story on the show so you would have thought they'd be yeah open for more orders people you know yeah more was the biggest character to come out of the show like yeah and then I obviously when I was very Irish and we were the only two lawyers on it and I actually actually baffles me that TV didn't what an Irish person into the winter one just because it's obviously a certain formula there you know yeah but maybe they're saving them all for this summer's one and yeah I didn't really get to watch much of the winter on this gone because I was traveling with the Rope you so much boudin yeah wine butter from her what it yeah yeah I can't have an opinion on an out but what I heard is that there should have been some Irish makes thin they're tempted to bring with a drama a bit of excitement yes Jordan Marie was a general banter and it's just general banter yeah yeah yeah cool and obviously when he came back he got straight back into the row be like it was that hard to get back into yeah well I it was always my plan no matter what happened like oh I was only going to avoid him for maybe two three days be hilarious I'll get kicked out at me a good story with the lights but I kept on ahead corner and then but I was always back then I get back home for train and like I'm trying to get to Tokyo 2020 trying to get to the Olympics and so I'm always going on training and even though I wanted I had to go to the ITV I was like look all you have to get on my train so I came back and I copy that and a lot of people Clinic give out maybe like you're throwing away the gold in Vegas like you made it you had this lovely life but I just didn't sit right with me and I'm happier now and even though the Olympics have been postponed I probably looked like a bit of a muppet push come on you got a yeah happy decisions you know dreams yeah exactly you can't Olympics you get that how many people can say that the went there and represented the country so like that's always are you more valuable then walk and being on a magazine like you know well that's it that's what I was thinking as well I think super and that Bush Oh some people over and UK didn't really like what I did was done no I'm sure I'm sure there's like people sitting there been like okay I'll just miss the train and go play the match later the only and I'm sure something you don't play sport like but don't get up no in like hopefully you will I be on playing for Tokyo 2021 will we see a Greg with Olympic tattoo yeah 100 percent there's only a small group of people so I suppose if you're empty very are very Irishman yeah yeah I want to get into Ruby now right so Basie he'll like who were you playing for first and then how do you even get involved with the seventh because sevens wouldn't be a like a big like a like the main thing that people would look at me because I'm sitting for the 15th their senior team so yeah how'd you get into it very interested played rugby my whole life it was kind of much more family a really obsessed with Robbie in there Shannon or FC is my team and Limerick so I was always gonna play every guy listen then I was doing athletics internationally for a few years but then monster came along and offered me a contract but I also had to drop at Lennox to take that so I was like of course my first love I'm gonna do rugby I was with monster just coming out of schools so 1780 did four years and then I had a bad accident I went to visit an ex-girlfriend of mine in New York and I was cycling along in a bike and I fell off and I lacerated my Achilles so I just like caught my achilles in two and my leg was completely rude like terrible terrible situations and someone stir thankfully give me another year to cannery on my leg but I never really got back to where I was before as well was it winger your winger okay wait yeah no he was called a no-show you know who Lloyd an O'Shea people like Jordan and Terry Kennedy there some fast people have ever come across it's a totally different sport though wasn't it it's crazy to see it like you see like the canyons who like I don't see them butchering a 15 man team together before when I come to the sevens like the rock very gold it seemed to lurk whole trees a lot better to play the sevens and 15s yeah it's the level we're trying to play at the international World Series that it's essentially a different sport man like it's just the level of Ronan like we're basically sprinting for seven minutes at a time and basically if you're a big athlete with some sort of balls here's your beer sevens would probably be suited to you or like 15 is much more tactical and like kicking the ball into the corner and doing a mall and I saw that so you don't get that in seven seven there's more crack in its destroyed time on the site yeah and then how did you eventually get picked up by the Irish team to join the sevens yeah so in that last year after his rehab my leg and trying to get back and I just didn't really get back into the into match fitness and they're handing out contracts for a senior team and there was the likes of Zeebo or sweetened them Alex Ward and all these guys [Music] just went off from there and we're club-footed or series helps only well great journey yeah it's great journey I moved to doctor to pick up that contract and even though like the sevens isn't financially beneficial in any way it's more to lifestyle and you get to travel to or let's see we're with roommates and it's really enjoyable game so I'm delighted they pick me up and I Nellie's even like Pete someone came in for 15s contract now and after to me I probably still by sevens if there are no more neutral lame open table nor do you have to be you know other stuff like I do lots working full fine I'll spare or way no I there's not enough money to be living in Dublin but everyone we kind of just supplement our income with other stuff going on so I'm very lucky that I have other gigs but before that I was gonna work in a law firm to supplement my income another ladder like physio is there's videographers a lot lesser in college guys picked up part-time work so it's very similar to Gaelic players and that you train full-time but then have a lot of work to make some money you know yeah but you do do a lot of traveling around the world to play this game as well so like are you even in Ireland that often no not really kind of travel for two weeks every month from November to June so it's a great way to see - yes we did so there's ten legs around the world and you go to places like Dubai Singapore Cape Town LA Sydney's it's amazing place you probably never travel unless you like perps you want to go order like you know we're getting brought it up I wrote these so it's a green which is the order a few for my trip em yeah yes the world will be paid for the Floyd's in the accommodation and every chance that's needed like here and unless all your few pay for like so you don't put your hand in your pocket when you're away so it's very good thing to do it's very good gig and and I play for as long as I can but I'm how many how many people are actually in that team that trouble together there's 13 let's get brought on tour twelve nights place or traveling reserve and and there's only about 20 of us in the whole squad ok that's like the manager and the coach is still physios in terms of the sevens just for people who don't watch sevens trying to walk the game in terms like forwards and back to my way that works cause like the scroll naturally looking yeah is literally what it says in the tin there's seven players on each team and it's broken down into three forwards scrum hats and a three backs I'm it's simple so I can out half the center in a winger and there's two props and a hooker and this chrome app it's so simple and it's the same rules but because there's less people on the page anytime that sominex mistake is to try you like I mean so that's why it's so entertaining for people and what happens is there's games just repeatedly coming out every 14 minutes there's a game so like what happens is it everyone just feels the stands goes on the pace and just watch his games whenever they want it it's just rugby happening in the middle yeah so it's like a rule people it's it's exactly like a rugby place so someone when you're watching it's almost closer will be leaked than it is closer to rugby union because they just the lack of Brooks I mean like go won't so we got stock of like I mean it's not far off roll the ball sure your legs and get going again when they finally get to watch it they're like oh this is a bit of crackly and we my sister's on my modern love watchin because it's only quick games and don't sit around for 80 minutes yeah when can we expect to come to Ireland because obviously it's in there other luxury places around the world or there can be do it on a rainy day in Dublin yeah so we're we've always talked about because when the World Series now if you try and get a leg in Dublin and and there was talks would happen to Olympic qualifier that for Tokyo in Dublin as well but that never came about what everything is going on at the moment so hopefully down the line I think Dublin would be great people would definitely flock to it for the weekend and be an event to go to and sport the Irish so hopefully on the longer we can get one year they can sail sounds is massive I'll see down Lincoln sail and I assume you've you've been there like Darcy you like what the sashes of the year some people might call yes it would be like an international version like so much fun I feel like a can tail sevens is almost like a festival and itself yes wait up I've never actually been to concerns myself which is just such a sin oh my god I can't get down there this year oh we've actually never been either but like I've seen videos for like press you play so like your excuse are much worse yeah well together where's way about you babysit for me yeah also great like you've obviously been keeping the key eye on the senior team as well in the Six Nations well what does sort of make of how the transition from Joe Smith to Auntie Farrell have been yeah it seems like the change of personnel in coaching is just sparked something new in the lads and that's not saying that you're Smith um ran out of steam and wasn't good coach I think jokes which is one of the best coaches in the world it's just after years and years of the same stuff you know change is good it just kind of reenergize as people think that's what I'd work for and enjoy the boys just got behind the new phone coach and worked out well in a 46 ations didn't finish push there was some great stuff there yeah would you be over it's supposed to be knocked over yes looking forward to seeing that yeah would you be very good friends with the players because obviously trained in the same facilities yeah I know a lot of them just from playing up the ranks like 18 1920 s and so I played with the likes to start to enjoy Kerry and Gary ringo-san all those lights and just from being around blanchard stone or training facilities here are a few buildings we always see the lads so everyone's very friendly and it's a toy new group otech he's your favorite [Laughter] that's me Murray doesn't it monster man Murray you probably be up there just because he's from Limerick went the same primary school he's a noise slide you know I just kind of can really relate him and that we kinda had the same upbringing and he's just gone becoming with best players more like but I like we had the same kind of Ranger well it seems a little talk to him now he measured me known again Oh apron monster when he was so he was evil and he was always gonna joke around me a bit of chats and stoked and he's good lab seems we smashed it over and wrastling know hey dude why don't you you've definitely felt a backlash on the internet and like don't sway the aura steamer again like talked about it's almost during the world cool do you think that was actually really first of all getting to them or or they're even noticing it yeah they'd notice it somewhat just because man you can't get away from social media that's the same yeah really cute right this boy that you're gonna see it everywhere so a would have they would have known about it but because like the team would be so tight it wouldn't have got to them really mentally I don't think there could be so focused on their own game plan and what they're trying to do that's it wouldn't affect and they're such top professionals like you know it would take a lot to rattler no brilliance today as well it's actually it's so cool crack watching you I relate to Six Nations having a point again is just enjoy it like it's great great great so let's let me be anyone on the date and so they have told me in on previous occasions so we see them at take on iffy at home and then France and see if we can egg and other know the Six Nations over our belt yeah their cylinder on into window things so fingers crossed they boys keep training over this is a self isolation period and they're in shape to win it if there's anything you'd sort of mix up or change or try different dynamics for the team what would you what would you like focus on if I change much man to be honest like I'd love to see Joey carry back playing fit again because I think him just in the squad and maybe put him on the bench and he can come in at 15 or come in at ten he just bring that injection of life Flair and speed with maybe 20-30 minutes to go I think that would be a good addition but um I know other one would be get Dunleavy back because he he's just attack a monster any you know believe with seven people around the pitch order dad I think they're in good shape man and they just need to keep doing what they're doing and under the new coach and deferred yeah another one who would you pick from that team to join you on the sevens if you're gonna pick one we we always we always joke if the 5th put together in sevens team would they be able to be huh I I never like I like cheese depends who they take now like but it's nearly a different sport if we could bring one fella across it would be quality third know Jordan Larimer or key thirds one of those two all our steps are freedom I'd say one-on-one deck ladies on the boat on defender for no more like so imagine putting them on this Evans field and giving him so much space just keep people yeah is the is never-say-die attitude there's something just that it just was my island in a nutshell really yeah he just keeps getting ordered keeps getting better like yeah you miss your consistent as well like he like from the first min the game to the a team in the game like you're getting a Horner time focus and concentration I always he's actually on the right and still why everybody is and like he's on the first name team sheet yeah like if there was a Lions tour coming up this summer like birds II would definitely be in it for me I just think his attitude and how he plays every time is incredible that's actually good do you think the sevens should have a loins team as well haha that would be that would be something yeah we know between us and the three nations three British nation so and we'd get a foot couple heads in there for sure play in like Fiji Samoa like the the dominance and sevens is different to the dominance in there in the Philippines so that's go pretty good actually to be fair sevens and obviously if fifteens they wonder ago yeah is that mean before sort of rafting is oh well what else needs to be done but the Irish sevens teams to just quote for the qualifications before the Olympics so there was supposed to be and it still hasn't been rescheduled yet but I presume it will be because the Olympics has been postponed but there supposed to be a qualification torn through Olympics in June for the last spot in the Olympic sports don't know when that's gonna happen it would probably all just be pushed to 2021 it would probably be June for anyone and if we win that tournament we're inside we get the last spot in the Olympics so we're in their own and we're definitely one of the favourites fingers crossed we can get there yeah hope you feel you deserve yeah thanks but no worries yeah we'll be cheering you on from whatever or ever we are a big career yeah yeah but like I'm doing my own big border right now on this in
