The Energized Show recaps Virtus VI in Omagh as a well-matched card from novice through pro, then covers Irish results and bookings from the same weekend. Hosts highlight Destiny Ezeobi's first-round knockout of Ciaran Smullen to win the Virtus light heavyweight title, calling the 19-year-old from Sanda MMA a viral finisher with his next two fights already booked. Holohan Martial Arts took two belts: Leah Callaghan won on the novice card with Paddy Holohan and Shauna Bannon in her corner and said she could move to amateur next, while Daniel Clooney won the interim featherweight title by technical submission against Tom Buckley in a disputed finish Buckley later called an illegal heel hook. Other finishes and results they named include Patrick McKee's head-kick knockout after a four-fight skid, Oisin Heagney's first-round armbar, Sean Brazil's amateur finish, Jake Duncan's 42-second neck submission, Breen Woods beating Sean Carmody, Taylor Heffernan taking a decision over Sean McDermott, Ucha Nadirashvili winning by TKO, and Jordan Galabuzi decisioning Aaron Henry in the main event after entering 0-2. They also discuss James Gallagher wanting a Patchy Mix rematch, then move to Eoin Sheridan's viral PFL Tampa first-round knockout of James Vake, Imran Shabban's PFL bout falling through on a late weight change, Matthew Elliott winning at Five Star Championship and reaching a December final, and Adam Darby booked for Virtus VI on 1 September. Upcoming Irish dates they flagged are DECGAR MMA that Saturday, including Jake Stanfield versus Kyle Heery for the welterweight title, plus a Republic of Jiu-Jitsu invitational that Sunday and Virtus VI on 5 September.

Diana. Okay, here we go. >> It's time. >> Okay. What's going on, guys? Welcome to a brand new episode of Energized, brought to you by Orings Competitions. Ross, >> are you intoxicated or something? Great to see you again, man. Welcome back to the show, >> man. Welcome back as Roy. We had a unbelievable weekend up in Omaha for Virt 6. It was a It was a big night for us, Basmo. You were absolutely killing them with the reels, making sure all the fighters got uh their finishes posted and making sure all the winners got their hand raised while I was in the cage mopping up the blood. Uh so yeah, it was it was a fun weekend. I was also poorly putting the belts on and interviewing people in the back. >> Okay, for the people tuning in, if you haven't checked out the Energy Shows Instagram page, we have loads of interviews with the winners and with like other fighters as well to definitely check out. Uh we put up all the finishes as well and you can judge for yourself. Ross was putting the belts around the champions and we want to know how well you thought he did. >> Don't watch the first one. Just don't watch the first Oh, definitely watch the first one. But uh we're going to let this one this secret out. Ross did a trial run on me. So it wasn't the first time we put it on and it probably might be the last you put it on, Ross. >> Yeah, but I I got taken off the last fight. So uh maybe that's maybe that's uh a testament to how poorly I done. >> Man, not everyone could be down away. >> But but man, tell me this. What did you just make of the caliber of fights, man? It was a really really entertaining night, wasn't it? Yeah, from start to finish it was a great show. Um, we're obviously at Virtu 5, but it's from going to Virtue 6 now, you've seen how much the show itself has evolved. Even from the the entrances to the the amount of people that were there as well. So, it was a it was a big big card and um it was great to just be part of it. As always, Ross, we want to thank Jerry Pre very much for keeping us on board as well because uh we we really enjoyed the virtual shows. Yeah, it was absolutely epic. Um Jerry was saying that uh the Ver show does like millions of views uh on socials by the time uh all is said and done. And uh look, we're happy to be part of that and we love being part of that. And from the novice fights all the way up to the pro fights, they were really really well matched and it was really really entertaining stuff. Um I was really really impressed with the matchmaking. The title fights were great. The main event was a brilliant fight. Basma we the car really had it all, didn't it? It had controversial stoppages. It had absolute sensational knockouts. It had really high level submissions. It really had it all, didn't it? >> Yeah. No, it did. It really had it all. Like sometimes you can watch these shows and there's a lot of decisions and um like the these had some crazy viral knockouts on this card. Like we as we said, they're on the Energize Shows Instagram page. Like just one for instance is Destiny is Obies KO finishing the first round. like this guy's only 19 fights out of sand. Um is the new light heavyweight champion of Virtuous and he is definitely one to watch out for. >> Yeah, absolutely. He looks like an absolute phenom. As I describe him, he's the scariest man in Irish amateur MMA. He's what, 6'5? He's absolutely shredded. And look, I don't think he's been outside the first round. Like, he just constantly puts people to sleep. And he's actually so nice and humble as well about it. So, uh, I I have a lot of time for the guy, but like unbelievable finishes like Patter McKe uh back down in the amateur card. I think he was on four fight skid and then he came out in front of a home crowd with another headkick knockout. Like that was absolutely sensational stuff. Uh, really massive shout out to him. Uh, Sean Brazzle also had a finish on the amateur undercard as well. And uh, Usheen Hegny also had a a nice armbar from um, Kazikatami. So I was very impressed with that as well. So look, there was some really really high level finishes throughout the night. H even the even the submission vault matches were great. The first match between Connor Deveni and Zion Roberio that went to a draw, but then Gareth Vaughn pulled out the sub and went home with 20 pounds in his back pocket. He got a heel hook uh submission. Baz, what what you make that cuz I actually really like I really like the idea of throwing on two submission matches sort of in the middle. For whatever reason, they're actually more appealing to me than sometimes when they throw the K1 matches on. Well, that that's that's a fair point. Like maybe because you're a jiu-jitsu head, that's appeals to you more, but like for instance, Kim Man was there and so was Tai Ganon. Like they probably wouldn't have minded to watch like a Muay Thai fight. So it's well horses for courses. But no, I like the way they split it up. They obviously did like the the alpha project in the beginning >> and then they went into the novice fights as well for with Leah Kenan headlining that and then >> then they went into the two subvault jiu-jitsu matches >> and then they went into the >> the main card and the like the main event. >> Yeah, look there there was some pretty cool uh fights in that as well. I want to give a shout out to Tieran Hogan from Ma and May in one of the Alpha Academy or Alpha Project fights. He actually h threw a spinning wheel kick once age. I was like gez these these guys are these guys are loving this sport. But then uh look Leah Callahan looks like she has uh all the stars are she could be a big star in the making. I was really impressed with her performance. She uh looked great at her boxing the entire fight. She controlled the distance really really well. as she landed her strikes at will and she looks really really hungry to learn and looks like she has everything everything you dream of for a for a fighter to go the whole way and make make a career out of this Basma doesn't she? >> Yeah. Well, like when we were there obviously like we got there early enough I think just after 4:00 and the place the place wasn't like absolutely buzzing. I think people are all just sort of trying to settle down and find their spots. And then obviously after Leah got the win, the place erupted like even on her walk out like she brought I saw the photos after she brought a lot of people down or up to Ma. So like that really I think once that fight happened like the place felt more energized. >> Yeah, absolutely. And look like does it help to have two UFC fighters in your corner? Absolutely. Patty Hulahan um absolute legend into the sport. H very successful night for Hulahan martial arts on the night. Bring home two belts. We'll get to that in a bit. And then obviously Shan abandon is obviously uh very close friends with Leah and look obviously that's going to bring more eyes and attention to her and they all got a massive reception. You know, probably best postfight celebration as well were really cool. Uh Shauna's young son Jace went running around the cage afterwards and that gave the that got a good pop off the crowd. Uh but look, Leah Leah danced before the going into the cage and danced after the cage. So look, she she obviously has that bit of pizzazz about her, that bit of energy that people are really drawn to. And look, I said it to Paddyy and I'll say it here. It's very rare we'd be going up to fights or watching fights like take place live and ever talk to each other in the buildup about like, oh, that novice fight, that could be a good fight. But we do when it comes to Lee Kalan, she she has a bit of star power about her. And look, we're we're here to see how how her journey unfolds. >> Yeah. Well, the Ross did an interview that's that's actually up on the YouTube shorts as well, that interview with Leah and she said she could potentially be going amateur next. So, it's very exciting. Ross, who would you match her against an amateur? Hard to really know. Like, obviously, you should be 0 and0 going into amateur. So, probably someone else from the novice scene uh making their way up. So, it'll be interesting to to see where she's at. Hard to match someone in the first amateur fight. Just anyone who's willing to take the fight, I think really is where it will be. But look, Lee is getting rounds in with all the top girls in the country because all the top grounds in the girl all the top girls in the country are getting rounds in with Hauna and she's going to be there for those rounds. So, >> I wouldn't be surprised to see her really really kick on nice and fast, you know? >> Yeah. Well, the saying is like you train so hard that the the actual like fight itself is easy. >> Yeah, exactly. You know what I mean? Like champions are made in the shadows and you know, under the bright lights, that's where they get to show all the hard work and that's what she's doing right now. So, yeah. Yeah, fair player. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Absolutely wax and lyrical about her hair right now. >> Yeah. But like the the women like there's obviously not many women fighters in the country. So when someone comes in and makes a makes a big splash that has to be talked about. >> Yeah. Absolutely. >> Sean Sean would be after us. She like you never mentioned that. >> Yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely. I know. I know. Uh we then moved into the amateur card and uh Ushin Hegny he got the round one uh first round submission. Then uh Sean Brazzle got a a lovely finish up against the cage. Very very impressive there. The two lads looked in phenomenal shape. Uh Oshin is an absolute bear of a man. So uh they're definitely ones to look out for. And then we had Aaron Der of SPG Straban getting the decision win. And uh James Gallagher, we spoke to him there afterwards as well. He spoke very very well of him. uh said said he never really saw coaching in his uh in his future when he was uh beginning out his journey, but obviously he has a wealth of talent. He's obviously, you know, BJ Black belt, he's very very known, well known for submissions within the cage and h it was great to speak to James. He was in great form. Um obviously he's looking forward to getting back out there and rising. He wants a pack mix fight. They fought five years ago. Baz h didn't go James way. He'd love to get that one back. Would you like to see that fight pass? >> Yeah, I think James and Patchy would both really want that fight. Obviously, Patchy left Bellator, went to UFC, it didn't go the plan. Went to Rise and it's still not going the plan. So, I think they both like that and that'll be of like high interest here in Ireland as well. >> 100%. Like European and American always on them like that's the fight to go with. >> Yeah. No, but it was funny just even when you're interviewing James there like you sort of like obviously when we first sort of started out doing this he was then was making a big pop and then he was like headlining the tree arena like more times than you more times than Bono but uh it's just funny like talking to him there and like just knowing like how many times he's headlined the tree arena and then obviously last week we had Sheran on and he was like I can't wait to fight in the tree arena. It's uh it's mad how some of these fighters have such crazy careers. >> Yeah. Well, he seems so levelheaded now as opposed to back when he was a young pup and like I don't you don't blame him. You know what I mean? Like you felt like the ego was nearly taking over with him back. But you can't blame like the amount of money he was making. He was headlining the three arena. He was winning. He was submitting everyone. Like that's it's very hard to suppress someone's ego when they're at that as opposed to now. you feel like he's actually such a such a humble guy and he just loves his training and he loves doing his jiu-jitsu and like he loves getting out there and making the walk like it feels special to him. Also, shout out to Aaron Der who actually came out to Free from Desire. I felt like the crowd missed that missed that pop. Uh obviously James Gather's walk out so I thought that was very very cool. Yeah. Well, when you what you just said about James there as well, like he uh he openly admits that like he was a kid then like I mean the stuff like we obviously said we kid you >> can see him now like he's a lot more real life experience one might call it you know. >> Yeah. >> Um and like that was it. Uh and look obviously it's great that he has SPG Straban and they have his back and uh he he's obviously doing well there and obviously as we said Gareth Vaughn got the submission there as well. So a very good night for SP SPG Stan up there. >> What do you think they spent the 20 pound on? >> Definitely uh chips and a few gons today. Um but uh after that fight we got f fight of the night uh Jack Burn from team Rhino uh fought I apologize I can't remember his name but I've had it from Patty Hulan's gym and that was an absolute banger of a fight wasn't it Basmo >> I think after that fight with um Aaron Duner >> Der Der that yeah that's when things really really started like going going off like the crowd really kicking in and I think the fighters could feel the energy as well. So like yeah, that fight was quality. There was some great fights in fairness on the night. >> Yeah, there was great fights and then we had the Jamaican sensation Jake Duncan go in and he wrapped up a neck in about 42 seconds. That man just looks like he looks really fluid in there and I feel like he has a big future in front of him. Big fan team involved doing wonders with him there. And then Jay McCourtney came in on very very short notice against Marty Mulgru who's a very dangerous opponent from Yoda M. And look that guy keeps on getting first round knockouts now. He's down a featherweight now. Those hands are heavy. So I'm really looking forward to seeing what's next for him. A really top prospect out of air grapple. Uh and then sort of the main event of the prelims saw Jed Pablo get a decision win over Caesar Carrera. That fight was really uh a nailbiter for the people in the arena cuz it looked like at any stage someone was going to hit the detonate button on the other and it ended up going the distance like they were they were throwing bombs in there but uh no one could uh put their put their finger on the detonator but uh it was a really really entertaining fight. You were watching that right to the end waiting to see if anyone could get their their hand raised. Um, but yeah, look, the undercard was absolutely spectacular. >> We're going to have a look at the main card now. And the main card definitely had uh some controversy uh throughout. So, >> we're going to start off with the was it the super featherweight title or the featherweight title? Um, Daniel Clooney, he the interim featherweight title, I should say. H Daniel Clooney uh finished in one of the strangest ways. It was a technical submission win against Tom Bley. Um, obviously Tom Bley got his leg injured throughout the fight. Um, there was a massive dispute between Deck Lin and Patty Hul Hulan after the fight on whether it was a heel hook, which is illegal at amateur MMA, or was it a knee bar. Um, now it was ruled the knee bar finish and Daniel Clooney went home with the belt, but uh since then Daniel uh Tom Buckley has taken the Instagram and say that he actually injured a leg via illegal heel hook. So I I haven't gone got the chance to go back and watch it. When the footage comes out, we will go back and watch it. But um look, I'm not a big fan of the fights ending in that sort of fashion. Tom Bookley's obviously a standout fighter. He he's uh not happy that was uh declared a loss and he was also uh unhappy with the medical professionals uh a after the fight. Look, obviously um we didn't see any of that the interaction with him and the medical staff, but uh we just hope that he he's looked after and he'll be able to recover with that leg injury soon. Um post both are top top talents, man. >> Yeah, both are very top talents. Daniel Clooney is like a like a uh duck to water I think is the phrase I'm looking for has taken the MMA scene. He's only training I think about a year at MMA. He's beaten Henry Lea. He now has a win over Tom Buckley on the books and next out like he had the face off of Shane Cardy. Like how how sexy of a jiu-jitsu MMA fight would that be? Uh two absolute brilliant submission artists. I'd love to see that. Basmo they faced off in the cage afterwards. Look, Daniel Clooney might be the best amateur MMA fighter under five fights on in the island at the moment. Pasmo. >> Yeah. Well, with those wins. >> Yeah. No, no one's taking those fights >> at that stage of their career or amateur career, let alone beating the Beetle. >> So, he's remained undefeated. H looks like someone who you cannot miss. Same with Shane Cardy. Same with Tom Bookie. They're some of the best featherweights in the country. I'm totally here for it. So, let's let's see what happens. Uh I'm looking forward to it. But that was a a very tasty match to start off the main car, but also finished in uh strange circumstances, just ones we're not used to because obviously there was no tap from Tom Bookie, but it got the end of the round and he couldn't really by the time they got up, he couldn't actually walk on his leg. So, the fight was over. Um >> yeah, >> look, we'll have to go back and watch it. And I think that's why people like ourselves didn't really see it at the time because the round ended. Normally if someone like there's a submission injury, someone taps out and then you'd watch it back. But it was it was hard to know at what point did the injury occur. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> So look that that was that fight. It was uh very very intriguing uh back and forth and that's that's we had. And then next next fight um I'm going to call it an upset. I don't know if it was or not. Uh I actually bumped into Ryan Shetty yesterday and he said he was absolutely delighted uh with Brienne Woods. Brienne Woods defeated uh Sean Carney. Sean Carmen looks like he's been on a tear. Obviously the the jiu-jitsu background have been wreaking havoc on the Irish amateur scene and uh this time Sean Carney came up short against Brien Woods who defended his grappling brilliantly. H it was you could actually see the team KF style in him. uh he uses his length really really well. Uh Sean really really struggled to get him down and anytime he did get him down he couldn't keep him down and then I think the only difference maker in between the rounds is look Breen got his shots off and he scored points when he caught and that that's that's what had him win the fight. I think it went to a split decision. I thought it was uh clear enough to uh Bream Woods for myself. But again, as long as the right person wins, I'm not going to be too egregious about the judging. Um, but look, Bream Woods, I'm going to call it an upset just because the hype behind the caries is massive at the moment and uh he went in there and got the job done. Basmo, what what do you think of this one? Was it was a very very much a chess match. >> Yeah, look at Brienne Wood's definitely impressed. I just felt like um Sean Cardy like he just kept going for the takedown and he just would not give it up and then that's when Breen was landing damage. So look, the Sean and Breen about both very early in their amateur career and um I I just think that was a great matchup actually, you know, and now now it's going to be exciting to see what Breen was where he competes next. >> Yeah, absolutely. It is going to be very very exciting and look I feel like he's entered the frey as a top flyweight prospect already. I think I think he was only two and0 going into it, so I hadn't seen too much of him before. But yeah, look, he looks like he's going to be really really dangerous and good to see uh team KF fighters out on the amateur scene. Haven't haven't seen enough of them this year. >> Yeah, but he he's another person you could say could be one of the top talents in the country now under five amateur fighters. >> 100%. That's that's definitely a big scalp. You know what I mean? Let's let's see who he goes against next. >> Um then we also had Utinard Philly. Uh he got the got the win via TKO. We took his opponent down and his opponent sort of framed on his forearm and his sort of wrist or forearm seems to be broken in some way and the fight was over. Uh he he tapped out after he landed. So uh obviously it must have been very very painful but uh again Utinard Philly looks really really good. Not too many people are going to be putting their hand up to fight that guy. Um so we'll just have to see what happens next to him, you know. Um it is going to be a really really interesting matchup. >> Yeah, he's uh he's definitely one to watch out for the Nardashi Bros. >> Yeah, 100%. And look, moving on from there cuz hard talk about that one. Taylor Hefernon, he was fighting Sean McDer. Taylor Hef went in and got the decision win. Um look, I'll be honest about this fight. I wasn't that impressed with the actual fight itself. Um, it seemed to be a lot of up against the fence with foot stomps. Obviously, Taylor Hefan did his job to get the win. Sean McDermott wasn't able to stop it, but it wasn't the most entertaining fight of the night, but again, I suppose when there's titles on the line, h at the end day, these people want to go out and win them. And look, sometimes in MMA, you have to win them by by hook or by crook or whatever gets the job done. It just wasn't what I was expecting. Obviously Taylor Hefernon is like this known for this like you know flashy striking style and uh sort of grappling up against the cage with a with knees and foot stomps. Um obviously effective to get the win but just wasn't what we're used to seeing from nor does it create the most fan friendly style. So look it is I I don't actually like take away from him or knock him. I think like obviously that's a massive win like Shawn McDer probably his biggest win to date to be honest. Sean McDermad is a a perennial title contender and a champion amongst the Irish MMA scene. So, it's a big win for him. It just wasn't wasn't exactly the fight we thought we were going to get. Pasma, >> well, like sometimes you could just argue that Styles make fights and maybe these two just didn't mesh together great. But like I have to give it to Taylor. He's he's he's >> was he the biggest shown massive development in his game to be able to do that strong with Durham. >> Yeah. Look, if you told me someone was going to put someone up against Cage in that fight going into it, I probably would have said Tom McDerman's going to do it. >> Yeah, but just I have to hand it to Taylor He's He's He was probably the biggest showman there like from the walk out and >> just the hair >> the the He just There's something about him. >> He was wear he was wearing the suit beforehand as well which uh which was fresh. >> I like that. I like the characters in the game, you know. >> Yeah. In fairness. Now, we did throw a few few kicks on the brakes and stuff like that. I I think I just wanted to see somewhat more of a striking exchange cuz the the two guys are are very very talented. >> Well, I'm sure I'm sure he's going to check this out. So, like we I look forward to see him compete again. I just like to show >> 100%. And you know what? Like obviously he's had to develop and show that he can do more than just the flashy strikes and like he's shown that. So like yeah, may maybe it came across a bit harsh. Didn't mean to. It was just more more like when you know someone has that pedigree and that that like those shots in the in the Arsenal like you almost feel disappointed not to see them you know but uh look obviously he's shown he can do a lot more than that now and he's taking his MMA game serious as Kieran Bran said like he's one of the hardest workers in the room so let's let's see what is next for Taylor he as he looks to capture more Irish gold and I feel like he's uh he was also unfortunate uh a few times as of late where either he's had to pull out or his opponents had to pull out of title fights of recent times. So, it was great to see him up there and get it done. You know, >> exactly. But then we have to talk about this next fight, Ross. As I mentioned earlier, Destiny Aobi from Sand May got the first round KO finish against Carol Smullen from AR BJJ. >> How was this guy 19? How is this guy so vicious within the cage Basma? >> This guy is just a superstar Basma, isn't he? superstar way to happen. >> Yeah, I went on to his Instagram page after and like he's not he's not that well known, but like if you look at the top three reels pinned to his wall like they're all like devastating knockouts like man like this this is you're you were waxing about him last time and I did I believe the hype. Look, he he just he doesn't get the flowers he deserves still. H hopefully this win will change that. Uh the Darren Sonic could not speak any more highly of him. Uh he couldn't speak any more highly of Darren Sonic as well. Look, obviously what they're doing >> is Darren Sonic's screen saver on his phone. >> Yeah, exactly. H obviously what they're doing h in Santa is really really working for them. And look, the the GM obviously had a success tonight. You know, Jeb Paul won, Destiny won. And look, I feel like it's going to be some man in this country who's going to take a title away from Destiny Obi and the and or who's going to be able to beat him. I asked him, did he struggle to get match up? He said he's going to have he has matchups booked, his next two fights booked. So, look, he is absolute Blockbuster TV. If I was a promotion north or south of the border, I'd be making sure to get him on because he's going to provide a hideout rail finish for you. And look, he's going to send the fuse through the roof and he's 100% going to be like he's someone who could be like two or three and0 as a pro and on Dana Wise Contender Series. That's that's that that's where he's at. Like if he keeps on knocking people out like that and also like with name like Destiny like that that that's pretty marketable once you get the the right juggernaut behind him. >> 100% agree Matt. >> Check out the finish man. Jesus. >> Yeah. if when Destiny's calling >> answer hopefully hopefully Kieran Simmon's all right by the way so >> yeah you know he look I think he looked fine after the fight he he shook it off you know what I mean so uh look Kon like like he he's an elite talent like let's not sleep on that either like that's what makes it even more impressive he obviously comes from a very strong fighting family and like he knows what he's doing in there we've seen him h I remember seeing him at air FC one well the one and only air FC and uh he looked really impressive that night so Yeah, Destin Destiny just looks like uh he's on another level for light heavyweights and heavyweights as well. That's the thing. Like uh he he's one of those ones who, you know, 93 kilos all the way up to 100 kilos. Like I feel like he he looks elite uh at that that range for the athlete that he is. >> Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how long he stays amateur. like he as he said he's still very young and he's he's very coordinated as well like like he he told obviously he played ba basketball >> um he said football as well I think there was another thing he said but like >> sometimes if you look at athletes in America like they never really kick the football so when they have to kick something they just so look so uncoordinated but like >> keep like keep your eyes out on destiny >> exactly yeah >> Ross then >> then in the main event Ross Uh Jordan Galabuzzi defeated Aaron Henry by a decision. Uh the thing is going into this Aaron Henry was 01, Jordan was own two. Team Rhino versus SPG Ireland. The level of this fight I think potentially went under the radar because it was very high level very very fast both men and um it was a very entertaining fight. I'd say as well >> the the the arena was like that was it was so loud for that fight as well. Boat corners even then during the breaks as well like boat corners going there was it was what the most people were there for as well. Chaos. >> Yeah, look it was a really really big fight. Um Jordan Galabuzzi and Aaron Henry definitely bought it. They brought it. They both landed some really high level shots at at stages throughout the fight. Um Jordan got a boozy and some really really nice leg kicks and I I feel like um there was moments in the fight where Aaron got takedowns and he was on top and then he seemed to lose the position uh after not too long a period of time. And I feel like that was sort of the difference maker uh of the fight. And I felt like Jordan got a boozy was that little bit faster on the feet and then when he got taken down just minutely won scrambles at times where where um where Aaron had a good position like I think Aaron was in full mount at one stage. He was nearly on back one stage and all of a sudden you know Jordan managed to get back up to his feet. Uh I I think a very long period of Aaron on his back with like Jordan standing standing over him and throwing leg kicks that happened about seven or eight times throughout the fight as well which just isn't going to score well in the judges judges eyes as well. And look, I think uh Jordan deserved to get his hand raised on the night, but uh again, I suppose Jordan went into that predicament where Aaron's going to be for his next fight and we saw the performance Jordan Gallibuzzi put on and I think Aaron's well capable of doing something similar next time out against a new opponent. H obviously starting off career as 02 is not not ideal for anyone. No one's going to be happy about that. But Aaron Henry has shown time and time again he he is a top talent. He just really needs to uh put those final touches on fight night and put it all together. But uh two unreal talents, phenomenal main event by uh Jerry Polick to put it put on that on and look great win. Nate Kelly was saying beforehand that Jordan Gallabuzi is his main training partner and he says that like he gives them the hardest rounds in the gym and I reach out and look two top talents and really excited to see where both go next to be honest. Agreed. Overall, I thought the the event was was class. Like it's always nice going there and then obviously catching up with people and um just taking all in. >> Yeah, absolutely. Like it it was it was so wellrun. The lads at Just Content uh provides such HD quality streams. Really, really impressed on that front. >> Uh obviously the cut team were there so everyone was in safe hands. H Phil Campbell and Paul Brown on Comry. That that's always an iconic duo. Both lads are at the very top of their game, the peak of their power. So great to have them there. Uh e even uh Brian Chay got in there for a bit of commentary on on the Alpha Academy or the uh it's called the Alpha Project. Sorry. I always >> Brian Coil, sorry. Uh unbelievable to see that as well. And then obviously we saw sorry Nikki Coyle then um Amy Kelly you know the photography greats there even Steven Towers made a guest appearance so uh that that's killed and uh yeah shout out to the the officials as well for keeping the fighters safe as well. So look it look unbelievable we love going up the show >> and Damian McKenna on on commentary as well. >> Damian McKenna. All right. Don't give don't get that fell too big. Right. Uh but yeah, no, it it was cool to see. Um and even let me put the belts on people. What were they thinking? Uh again, >> as if it wasn't bad enough the first time, >> but um look, big big fan of the show. Everyone tries their best to work in harmony there. H show ran really smoothly. You can see that it's actually uh improved from V five to V six. So shout out to the team there. uh really enjoyed working the show, covering the event and working with the team and look everyone worked to get the job done and it was an absolute phenomenal show and I can't wait and look few stars were born on the night bas. >> Yeah. Yeah. No, it's I can't I have no nothing to give about at all. >> Yeah, exactly. Like look at the end of the day we had Jordan Galabuzzi. He won the main event coming off an 0 and2 skid. He he is now a winning professional in the cage. Can't wait to see him. Destiny is Obi. He might be one of the most coveted fighters an Irish Mate to get on your show right now. He only brings viral knockouts. Unbelievable stuff from him. Neutin Nardash Philly. He's definitely undefeated. And Daniel Clooney undefeated from Hulahan martial arts. Two guys less than five fights bringing home belts. Unbelievable stuff. Looking forward to seeing them back out there. Um, Breen Woods, unbelievable stuff. He he talked off of Harmony, relatively unknown going into it, I'd say. Now he's won the Virgin's belt. He'll be looking at other titles around the country. Can't wait to see that. Leah Callahan, unbelievable stuff from her. Taylor Hefan bringing home belt back to Cork. Unbelievable stuff from him as well. It was a really, really good night. I can't wait for it. Some of the best fights we've ever seen. When that stream does go up on YouTube, you have to watch the whole thing. It is one of the best fight nights we've ever been at. Unbelievable stuff from Virtue 6. Jerry Polk, take off the hat. Take a bow. Unbelievable. Virtual 6. Make sure to check it out when it goes live. It was absolutely epic. >> It was We don't have the date for Virt 7, do we? >> No, but when it happens, we will be there. Once it's announced, we'll 100% be telling the world about it. >> Yeah. No, it was a great show. >> We will be hard to top that. It will be hard to stop that. Um, the next Irish MMA event that goes down is actually this Saturday as Deckar MMA goes down as well. And one fight we definitely cannot wait to see is Jake Stanfield versus Kyle Hury for the welterweight Tyler Ross. I think Kyle Hir will try and become the youngest welterweight champion in Irish amateur MMA history if he can bring home the belt. So that's definitely one to watch out for. Basma. >> Yeah. No, it definitely is. Um, so Ross, there's just a few wins that we have to discuss as well before we get into some big news as well as over the weekend Owen Sheridan got the viral round one KO finish at PFL Tampa. Ross, we had him on the show last week. He always brings the crack saying he couldn't wait to go to to Miami yet. and I beat that after. But that finish that was no wonder went viral. >> Yeah, absolutely unbelievable stuff uh from him. He he called it beforehand. He said he he actually said in the in the cage to the PFL social media team. Yeah, I'm off to Miami now. Like he he is obsessed with getting the getting the job done and getting the partying going. Um, look, obviously he went in there, James Vake, we knew he was a sort of New Zealand Samoan, you know, they're tough as hell. And that shot that finished that, that actually restored James Vake to default factory settings. Unbelievable finish. He is an absolute monster in there, Owen Sheran. I cannot wait to see him back in there. He needs a top 10 opponent. He's earned a top 10 opponent. He's a top 10 fighter now. I can't wait to see it. Unbelievable stuff from El Sharif. Yeehaw. >> Yeah, if obviously if you look at it again, I've watched it a few times. The way he switched the knee for the finish as well was it was just so clean. And then they gave him this like brand new chain for for knockout of the night. Was it? >> Yeah, I think so. Yeah. The Arkham chain. Unbelievable stuff. >> That thing will be getting some use in Miami, won't it? And >> you better believe it. You better believe it. Swinging on that yolk. Did he John Cav actually left a comment being like, "No jewelry are allowed in the mats, but we'll let you do it for one class." >> I love it. I love it. >> He's an He's an absolute legend. Like he you have to send James fake to the shadow realm, >> man. You're being ruthless in this episode, man. >> Man, like we were there watching Destiny as Obie do knockouts and we were like, "Right, that's going to be the best knockout this weekend." And then um Owen Sheridan was like, "Hold my beat the cocktail." >> Yeah. Hold my chain. Hold my cowboy hat. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Look like and he's going to be still fresh. So, and he said he wants to be back again before the end of the year. >> So, look, Sher, enjoy your trip. Um, enjoy your party again, man. >> Yeah. Enjoy the party. Tell Wayne Ler we said hi. >> Yeah. Um then also unfortunately Omran Shabban from team KF was meant to fight in the card but his opponent pulled out. Look um height by 15 pounds like uh um apparently the day before Chris Fields was told uh uh we can do the fight at 180 pounds which£10 more than what they were supposed to do. They were like what? And then like apparently a couple hours later they were like actually we could do middleweight. So look obviously that fighter was ranked eight in the world at welter toweight. That's absolutely incredible behavior by them. You can't you can't be accepting a new weight class on a on a day's notice uh with the original opponent. Obviously he didn't attempt to make the weight. Uh like you should be probably closer than 15 pounds the day before to make weight anyway. And look, I think Oman made the right decision. I hope PFL make make things good with him and I hope they have a a turnaround in a timely enough fashion that also suits him as well. Look, I just hope PFL do right and hopefully they give him a turnaround and a new fight on a schedule that suits him. Sometimes I think they offer you fights in two weeks time to be like, oh, it's not too far away. And then like cutting we cutting the weight twice in that short amount of time is is never nice. So hopefully Omran can get a fight on his schedule when it suits him back best next. >> Exactly. And then Ross also on Sunday then Fivestar Championship went down in London as F Academy Ireland's Matthew Elliot got the win and it's true to the final in December. Um Ross Fivestar Championship isn't an organization we cover frequently because there's not obviously not many Irish on the on the promotion. But now Matuela he's left Cage wires. He's there now going to be competing in the final in December. Um what you make of the win and like are you looking forward to seeing Matthew compete in the finale in December? >> Yeah, absolutely. Look, Matthew Elliot is someone who we've thought really highly of for a very very long time. He is absolute massive rest from pedigree. But one thing I was really impressed with uh seeing this fight was his striking looked really really good and that that that's what happens. Look, he's he's training with elite fighters every single day and he's still shown massive improvements in his game and I'm just happy that he's fighting. I think it's Aiden Lee in the final which is a bigname opponent and look there's a big prize on the line and it'll be great to see him get that money win there and take home a big payday. I think he's he's due a big payday in his career and he he's someone who will be hungry for that payday and I have a lot of time and respect for Matthew and I hope he goes out there and gets the job done and uh brings home that little Christmas bonus from Yeah. And look, the thing is, as we said before, like say if you're on a cage warriors card with like 10 to 15 Irish guys or girls, like you can get you could potentially get lost in the sauce, whereas now >> he's the only person that I'm aware of right now that is Irish on Fight Star Championship. So, he could become the guy there. >> Yeah, 100%. It's like it's very good promotion. It's not like it's a Yeah, not a good promotion. It just hasn't historically had a lot of Irish fighters on it and that's changing now. So, let's let's see how it goes. Yeah, and it could be a pathway for more Fight Academy Ireland fighters on the card and even more Irish fighting on it as well. Then Ross, we also have to give a shout out to Republic of Jiu-Jitsu's Invitational that goes down this Sunday as well. And then we also have to mention that ADC ADCC Ireland is going down on the 5th of September. It's going to be the same day as the Katy Taylor fight in Crow Park as well. So that's going to be a huge day for many, many people, especially ourselves. And then we also have to mention as well that Team Rhino's Adam Derby is competing on Dana White's Contender Series on Tuesday the 1st of September. So obviously this show comes out on a Tuesday. So he'll be fighting in a week's time. Ross, Adam Derby, he's had um a very interesting career so far, fighting out of Team Rhino, then moving to America. came on the show last time. He was saying radical and dude and stuff with a surfboard. Um Ross, how excited are you to see Adam Derby compete on Dana White Contender Series? Ireland's only Irish fighter fighting on the contender series this season so far. >> Yeah, look, this this is a long time coming from Adam Derby. He's been training effectively his entire life at this moment. I think he has like a note from his iPhone saved from 2018 saying he will be a UFC fighter and now that is on the cusp of happening. He is going over there to he's already he went over to America early to make sure he got a climatized there get the rounds in there. He was in the UFC PI the other day. Uh I saw Sean Strickland was in the same room as them doing the same drills. I think this guy has the potential to become a massive problem in the welterweight division. He's long. He's rangy. He's got fantastic submission skills. He He really looks like the real deal and he's really really putting it all together. And most importantly for Dwayont Contender Series is Adam Derby is a finisher. He goes in there vicious elbows, really good submissions. And I think he's going to go in there and get the job done. And I think he's going to do it in round one. I think Adam Derby is in there to make a statement. And he's not there just to make up the numbers for the UFC roster. He's going in there to go in there and try and make a splash in the UFC. And look, if he does win, he will be the only active uh UFC fighter training, male fighter training out of Ireland these days, which is uh really incredible to see. >> Barona. >> Male. >> Oh, male. >> Yeah. >> Well, and Connor. >> Well, Connor Connor, he's fought 40 seconds in the last five years. >> A fight's a fight, man. >> Well, was it a fight? Did he get paid? Well, >> some fighters weigh in and get paid. Don't fight me. >> Um, yeah. Look, we'll keep you up to date with Adam Derby as well. He's gonna be fighting on a Tuesday night in Vegas. So, it'll be like Ireland's Wednesday morning. So, we'll be >> We'll be staying up late to watch that. >> Yeah, we Yeah, there'll be a watch party in team Ryan, I would say. Um Ross, just before we wrap things up as well, obviously there was UCI on over the weekend. Gregory Robocop Rodriguez defeated Fluffy Hernandez by decision. Um that's a big win from Robocop. I think Fluffy was on a tear then he took a loss and then Robocop came in with a splash. Sort of some fights didn't go his way, but like that's a big win against Fluffy Fern Hernandez who um who was almost in toilet contention recently enough as well. Ross. Yeah, I think Fluffy Hernandez uh before his last off was one win away from being fighting for the title. And look, I think it was the Shawn Trick fight that that sort of knocked him off the title contention run. >> And look, Gregory Rodriguez like he looked massive in there compared to Fluffy Hernandez. Also, he threw some really nice leg kicks that uh like buckled Hernandez multiple times. I think he had seven or eight knockdowns and most of them with the with the leg kicks. So, he looks like he's someone not to be messed with. I think when I think of when I think of Robocop, I I can't help think of like some of the devastating times he's been on the receiving end of a loss. But, uh, do >> you remember do you remember the thing that he had when it's like >> Yeah. open. Yeah. >> So, like that's that's what I always think of him in there as, but look, Gregor Rodriguez is definitely someone who is definitely hard to beat. Like I think he'd be like that' be a hard match up for Sean Strickland cuz he he hits hard. He comes forward like he's very very aggressive and look he's really made it made a move in the middleweight division. He's definitely what maybe one win away from a title shot now himself. >> Yeah he's definitely in there. That's a big win for him as well. Um I also want to give a shout out to Chanel Dyer who got the win as well in the UFC over the weekend. Another >> Chanel Dyer does knockouts baby. >> Yeah. >> Like what a promo man. Yeah, >> that's what the that's what the women's division needs, man. >> Like like we're massive advocates for women's MMA on this show. Anytime a girl fight sure you heard us absolutely talk absolutely muk about how much we think uh Li Callahan has great potential going forward. How much you know we're always waxing about the likes of Sean and Bannon Kyle Sull etc etc. But I do think there's a lot of female fighters on the UFC roster that don't have a big enough personality and Chanel Dyer has bring that personality. And look, don't be afraid to go out there and say you want it. You deserve it because that's what she's going out there and doing. And I could see Chanel Dyer be fighting for UFC title within the next two years. >> Yeah, I wouldn't put it past her. And then the UFC goes down this weekend in China as Umar Nurmagamedov takes on Sydong in the main event. Ross, your picks have been absolutely amazing this year. Who are we going to pick for this one? >> Ah, it's hard to pick past Umar and Mega Maid off to be honest. >> No, I like I'd agree on that one as well. We agree on something for once. So, as >> send home all the Chinese fans in disrepute, >> mate. That won't be won't be the first time, won't be the last time, man. So, as we said, this weekend UFC is on, Decar MMA is going down Saturday night, and then Republic of Jiu-Jitsu Invitational goes down on the Sunday, and as we said, make sure to tune in next week as Adam Derby competes in Dana West Contender Series. That's a big one for Irish May as well. He's a Adam's a very well-liked person in the community. So, uh, let's see what happens. Ross, is there anything else you want to say to the people tuning in now that that just really enjoyed our company at Virtual 6 as well? Yeah, just want to say that uh don't uh don't sleep on that Republic of Jiu-Jitsu event. I think it's going to be an absolute banger. H it's got an eightman tournament on it. It's also got some phenomenal matches. We have um RTM is taking on Nicholas Donnelly in what should be an absolutely stellar contest. Funk Dunn who is taking on Ben Mountain. And then the eightman tournament has some ADCC uh openweight division professional champions which are definitely up there. H Jack Dolan's in in the event. H Eric Sue is in the event. Germaine Mogleski's in the event and many many more. H shout out to Republic Jiu for putting on a great event. And not only that, there's a 2500 euro cash prize for the winner. So big books uh in there and great competitors. So make sure to check out Republic Jiu-Jitsu uh this weekend. Uh hopefully there'll be a stream for everyone at home to watch it. >> Yeah, agreed. And then I'm looking forward to going to the ADCC Ireland as well. Yeah, that's going to be unbelievable cuz I feel like we'll see a lot of the competitors who completed that then move forward and go on to ADCC which uh will be absolutely fantastic as it always is. I was speaking to Kieran Tavern uh another one of the celebs that was up at Fergus 6 and he's really really looking forward to it and he's looking in great shape as well and we also spoke to Shane Smith who recently received his black belt from Eric Grapple. So shout out to him as well. But guys, look, it's been 50 minutes of pure energized entertainment as always. So, make sure to like, subscribe, share, tell a friend, tell your ma, tell your dad, and as always, stay >> the Joy show. Up the orish. Live from the mecca, the world's most famous arena, Madison Square Garden. >> It's time. Introducing first, fighting out of the blue corner.
