Okay, so it's my absolute pleasure to have uh Logan Peters here with me today. He's going to be fighting for number one contender fight. He will obviously fight Ushin Daily when it comes around in April if he's successful in this bout, but he also has Dale in front of him as well. H thank you very much for your time. How are you with Fight Week? What does What does fight Week look like for you, >> bro? Fight week is just really chill. Like obviously we're trying to cut a lot of weight and like dieting down and stuff, but like bro, I'm I'm very good at it now. like I've kind of got it under on under wraps mo for the most part anyway. Like it's just about chilling. Um drinking a lot of water, making sure I'm reducing the sodium and the carbs and just making sure that I'm in such a good mind mind space, you know, like you know, I like a lot of journaling. Um just going over tiny details in my head of the fight, but just relaxing more than anything. Like like I take off work on fight week. I don't really get into like like any hard training sessions because bro, the work's done. The work's done now. Like I I know myself like how hard I've worked for every single fight, especially this one because it's got title implications, but um yeah, it's just about chilling as much as possible and just making sure the weight's coming down and it's coming down, you know, handily, you know. >> Yeah, cuz cuz obviously we had a conversation for about 10 minutes before we came on here and you do not look like someone who's like like in the midst of I know obviously the cutting weight will like will come later, but you seem like in good form. You we had a really good conversation before, but something touched on there. I want to ask you said obviously to chill and relax. That seems very mature and like a very f like a high IQ for someone coming into fight because obviously amateurs people there's excitement there's this that and the other and especially coming up to it you go 100 miles an hour. Yeah. And then how can you make that switch to just stop from going 100 miles an hour for your training camp to fight week to kind of just how were you always like that or was it something you had to learn over time? Uh, I think in my preparations I've always been super professional. Like obviously small things have like changed over time, but see to be honest like I I just like I know what the crack is. Like I know one day I'll be professional and like if I just make the groundwork happen here then it'll just be easier as time goes on, you know? Like um I think obviously I want to win no matter what and I'll do anything it takes during the week to make sure that I win. So, if that means me having to just chill out and relax and do whatever, like that is what it is. You know what I mean? Like, and you know, I know like a happy fighter is a dangerous fighter. A relaxed fighter is a very dangerous fighter. And like obviously maybe the first couple times that I cut weight and stuff like that during amateur, like it maybe things weren't as good as what they could have been now, but that's why we do it and we learn. And like now I'm just at a stage where like I know it's fight week, things can be stressful, but let's not make it stressful. Let's make it as easy as possible. Like at the end of the day, I love fighting and like I'm just going to get in there and like I can't wait. I'm excited for it, but I'm also super chilled out, you know what I mean? It's just another fight, you know? >> Yeah. No, 100. See, I like what you were saying there as well that like >> it's a fight. Don't let because especially people get stressed out and especially with things you can't control as well, cuz I think when people get stressed out if if you if you can't control something that makes you angry, that then controls you or stresses you out, that then controls you as a person. So, I think you've done really good from just this this short conversation. I I really like your mindset and the way your outlook on things as well, but this will be your fifth fight. It'll be your third fight on Rat and and then you main evented it. We were just speaking about that. How does it feel? Obviously, you had your first two fights on Rat. You've got this one with potential title implications. The fact that you actually started on this show and you you potentially will get a title shot and and a chance to win a title. How does it feel to be at the show? Cuz as as as small as it will be in your career over time, it's still a part of history that you were like on the first show. How would it feel to for the first show that you fought on as an amateur potentially get an amateur belt on? >> That would be great, man. Like I would love it like bringing it back to where it started. Like obviously that would be unreal. But like I'll take I'll take a a shot at a title. Like I I would fight for a title tomorrow if I got an opportunity. You know what I mean? Because it's all about building and like the notoriety and like just growing that as a fighter. But like, bro, it would feel great. Like, um I know I I love the venue. The small sort of atmosphere in the room just makes it feel like it's so loud and like so like full of energy and the buzz of it all. Like I just love it, man. And um for main eventing it before twice, like I just feel as though like it would be nice like a nice homecoming of sorts. Um I guess you could call it. But uh yeah, man. Like I just I'll take I'll take the opportunities wherever I can get them, you know? >> Yeah. No. And that's one thing we do look for on the show as well is we look for people Ushin Daily never had a title shot. Henry Leer, believe it or not, never had a title shot before we >> Tom Tom Buckley. Um I think Nathan Chambers might the first one cuz we want because everyone will go there certain people that will hold events. I don't want the people that hold all the events because there's we've so much talent in this country that like on our talent like you said that okay there's there might be people that are more experienced than you that know but that's what we want to find the likes of you and boy here. That's why I think this fight is an absolute banger fight in my opinion. One thing I have noticed is you have fought a lot of the hybrid lads. Is there a grudge there or is it just the only lads that's [laughter] I bro I am the most chilled out guy ever. I don't think I could hold a grudge against somebody if I tried. Like I have so much respect for everybody getting in the cage. I think it's just a matter of like the I mean I've actually thought about it and I've thought it's quite funny but like maybe it's just the hybrid guys are the only guys with the balls to get in there. You know what I mean? Like put it like this, right? The guy I'm fighting, D Mooney, he has taken a fight two weeks after this one against another one of the most dangerous prospects of featherweight being Jamie Ferguson. Like see if you can take a fight against me and then go yeah two weeks later I want to fight against him. like you you must have kahunes like you know what I mean like you know like and you got to like commend that because like um not a lot of people like would be willing to do that you know what I mean like especially he's a big lad having to cut all that weight as well like it's pretty mad but um yeah no no grudges at all man >> I was only joking by the way it was only [laughter] >> no they've always been so good to me so signed as a um one organizer for the event like uh yeah know they're all good lads like um as far as I know anyway like so yeah it's good >> yeah so uh we're going to call you the hybrid if you defeat another hybrid you we're going to call you the hybrid hunter and that will be [laughter] your nick day from now on so so Dale has a lot on his shoulders and I will be speaking to Dale tomorrow but I think it's an absolutely cracking fight there's loads and loads of really good fights as well but talk to us about your gym obviously new facilities talk to us about the new facilities and what they're like >> yeah the new facilities are incredible. Like I remember walking into it for the first time and really thinking to myself like wow like I almost feel elevated as a fighter to be like I'm privileged to train in such high level facilities. Like it almost makes you train better because it's like wow this is like really really really high level and like I now feel as if I'm really high level because of the facilities and like the surroundings etc. Not that I didn't any less in the past but like having all the new facilities and stuff really solidify it. You know what I mean? So I think also just having like not even the facilities because the facilities are just like a physical thing. Um like see having the level of training partners there and like the coaches as well that are as equally high level as the facilities man it just it is an absolute machine for just turning out such high level fighters and you've seen it. That's why like we are the best gym in Ireland and one of the best gyms in Europe if not the world. Like the level that we're turning out great fighters is just unseen of in this country before. >> Yeah. And like that you had to get new facilities. I remember it was a couple of years ago I went up on a Sunday and I mean the Sunday I went up I was to interview Liam and they were doing it was for the safety thing >> and on a Sunday the whole place was packed. I was like >> it's crazy. >> I'd be hung over if I didn't have to come up here and do this today like and all these boys were out training. But talk to us about the coaching because one thing it was Damian McGuigan I spoke to. I think it was when he fought was it Kim McCarten and Annie Beam and he said one of the things was that obviously they improve your thing but they revisit basics quite a bit as well because basic stuff is kind of what's going to win you fights as well. So what's the level of detail like? What's the training like and and and what's your relationship with with the with the coaches and obviously with the other members going but what what do they mean to you the coaches and then what is their training style like and and how do you like it? >> Yeah, obviously Pat and Shan do mean so much to me. I mean, they gave me such great opportunities. Like, I was only training in like Fight Academy for maybe less than a month before they gave me my first novice fight. And like, it was what, four or five days notice on IUR against a dangerous guy. And like I just went in and showed the level that I'm at. And like [snorts] I just really really appreciate everything like the push that they've really gave me and like all the training and everything. Like it's just like they invest in you as much as you invest into them. And like I'm I I have and I'm willing to invest so much of my life and like it is my life. MMA is like what I do. Like I don't do anything else other than this. Well to as high a standard anyway. Like and you know it's just like if you if you put the work in, they'll put the work in. You know what I mean? And it just keeps building and building on from there. Like um and like the coaching is just such a high level. like like yeah they they go over the basics so so well to a point where like it's almost as if there it's not basics like well they just break it down in such a way to where like even the highle techniques feel as if it's easy to learn because like the the level of detail that you know Pat and Shando and stuff go into like Pat could literally teach anybody how to do any form of jiu-jitsu who's that good at teaching it like it's ridiculous like I mean not even like the fighter classes but if you even go and look at like Pat's Gilly grip or like uh back grip or leg grip or anything like that. That's where he really breaks everything down. And it's like you can just feel yourself levels above people in that area who don't do those like um uh training sessions and like it just goes to show how high level the coaching is. >> Yeah, I I've heard I said Kley was shouting out on Cage Warriors about [laughter] >> about the thing. Uh, but you said something there and I'm after losing my train of thought on it, but we'll we'll move on slightly. What was I going to say? I actually can't remember. But in terms of obviously you're not looking past uh you're not looking past Dale this weekend. Have you have you much more booked for the rest of year. What kind of Cuz we were talking it was very hard for you to get matched after you had a a really good knockout. And >> are you looking to stay really active now because you're fit, you're heady, you're ready to go. >> Put it like this. I mean, I just take fights as the like I I mean, I actually think I don't like booking two fights at the same time because I think it's a curse if you do that. I think it means that you're looking past one of the other people. I just like to take it one fight at a time. We'll look we'll get this fight over and then we'll look at the next fight because like I just feel as though anybody else I've seen do that, they've never won both of the fights. like one's went horribly wrong or they've had to pull out of one of them or just from like I mean no specific examples like but just from what I've seen in the past of like all different fighters over the country like it I just never ever see it go well if you have two fights booked at the same time which is why I just think like I'll take one fight at a time I'll take a couple weeks and then we'll move on to the next one. I'm in no rush to be pushed towards anything because I know that like everything will come eventually. You know what I mean? Like uh and I'm always going to be fit and healthy. Like uh I like bro I never ever blow up out of camp. I'm always eating healthily. Like my diet is always on point. Like bro, I don't even I don't drink fizzy drinks. I don't eat chocolate. I don't like none of this other none of these vices. Like I don't have them. Like everything is always on point. Like that's just the level of mindset that I have. Like um I just know that like my time will come like for everything in due motion and like everything's already planned out. You know what I mean? >> Yeah. Know and fair play to you for not eating chocolate and physician because sugar is one of the worst things. And look, I'm guilty of I I I I do think it is an it is an addictive substance because I like >> I I see a lot of people drink and it's really bad stuff to be putting into your body. You actually one of the things I was going to say was when you see obviously when Liam and Pat they go away. you were saying that like they both have sentence shoot they've come back from like France and you see them at novice shows like how does it feel like when you see them at other shows with the likes of Reese on the UFC Ken Lin uh you've got Paul Hughes on PFL and obviously the boys on Cage as well like do you be looking around and get inspiration from all these guys that are in your gym like does it feel surreal going like me >> bro it it is crazy every single I mean it's almost like you're speaking to these guys as if like they're just like normal people but then you have to remember like these guys are fighting in the have fought in the UFC are fighting in the UFC like they're fighting for PFL belts like when it is kind of create like in a sense you almost take it a bit for granted and then you sort of step back and think about it and you're like whoa that is pretty crazy like you only have to look at the back wall in fight academy to see like Paul um the likes of Patty etc all those guys like even big Patty fighting for a belt in like a couple weeks time here It's I was there whenever he won the belt in Dublin and like it's such a surreal moment like it's like it's like whoa if they can do that and they're if they came from the exact same place and like time that I came from like there's no reason that I can't shoot on to do something like that as well. So it's just like you're building and building and building towards it and having these guys as your mentors it's like wow this maybe this dream actually is really possible after all. >> Yeah. I I think it was Oliver said like and you just said as well if you put 100% of yourself into 100% you will make it cuz he was saying and like you just said they've got the systems and all there in place the proper that the excellent training that like on if you don't make it not that he said because obviously people will have bad luck here and there but he says that the opportunity is there for you once you show up. Would that be a correct kind of assessment of the gym? If you just show up everything is there for you because >> you sorry if you put Sorry. Yeah. If you put the work in, they'll give the work back. Like nothing goes unnoticed in Fight Academy. Like I if you if you don't show up for like a month or two and you don't give this the the coaches or anything any sort of insight as to why you're not there, like they're obviously not going to put as much work into you as to somebody who's you might be a far better skilled fighter, but why should they invest time into you if you're not going to invest time into them? Like I'm not going to say I'm the most technical guy in the world, but like I show up every single day and like you know you invest the time in and you get it back. You know what I mean? That's just how it works in life. Like you don't you don't get anything handed to you. Like you got to work hard for it. Like you have to put the time in and the effort in. And regardless of how good or talented you are, like um if you don't put the time in, they're not going to invest the time in you. And why should they? Because you you're obviously not showing the effort that other people are showing, you know? >> Yeah. And it's I think it's it's like if people aren't turning up it's complete lack of disrespect and stuff like that for the people. And then if they were to get more time than the people who were turning turning up then that sets a bad president as well. I would have done something similar in work when I was a manager. I would take someone who was less skilled but had a better attitude over someone who was more skilled but like had a bit of a a bad attitude. You know the sort of way. >> Yeah. So, I can see I can see why they do it and we can see what's coming out of the gym because obviously you've got Matthew Elliot as well who had bro even get me started up. Matt is the absolute G. Like Matt's from Carrick as well. That's where I'm from. Like Matt is the absolute he is like an absolute gangster, bro. Like he is the Bro, I can't even get you started on how good Matt is. Like Matt is like like give it a year or two's time, Matt will be fighting for like extremely high level um belts and competition. You know what I mean? >> Yeah. It's cuz I think I think he goes under the radar cuz he's quite quite cuz when he does say stuff when he's outspoken, it's usually conspiracy theories or something that gets him from [laughter] from Instagram, >> bro. It's some like Illuminati confirmed type Like that's why we love Matt. Matt is just like he he's got a theory about everything, bro. You know what I mean? He could. He knows that we don't know. You know what I'm saying? >> And I think people would actually pay when me and him do commentary together. I think people would actually pay for the conversations we have not on >> 100%, bro. 100%. >> I was talking to him the other day and I was like there was a chance at one stage I wasn't going to make it and he's like I'm so glad you're there. And I'm like I'm so glad that I'm going as well. So as well having a teammate commentate on your fight as well. I find that mass days uh is very impartial as well. But um yeah, no uh I got to let you go. I want to thank you very much for your time. >> Yes, 100%. >> Is there anything you want to anyone you want to shout out or anything you want to say before you go? I really appreciate your time especially so close to >> Yeah, I'll just shout out all my sponsors here quickly. So big massive shout out to I have it all wrote down like you said. Cafe to Belfast, Dylan Best, Stanley's Butchers, Baker Street, Bari Bakery, Abby Memorials, PDS Training Academy, uh, Pub Supplies Belfast, and 36 Car Sales. Um, that's all my sponsors. Just massive thank you to them for making the dream happen. Like, um, you know, obviously it's very expensive for us to do this sport. So, you know, having all that in the bag is, you know, it's nice and it's helpful. So, it is. So, yeah, I'm just I'm ready ready to roll for Saturday. Can't wait. Can't wait, bro. You know what I mean? And there's also before we go, there is actually also cash prizes for fight of the night, finish of the night and stuff like that. Hope you've seen that as well. Um, so hopefully you'll get one of them. I think this is potentially one of the fights of the night. I really do. I think >> two lads is coming in and like that. Obviously with the title implications as well, it's going to be fantastic. But look, enjoy the rest of your day. I will have this out in about an hour, bro. Yeah. So, 100%, bro. >> Enjoy the rest of the day. All right. Thank you so much. You too. See you later, bro. Thank you.
