energize show up the irish okay what's going on guys welcome to a brand new episode of energized the face off russ introduce the guests man today we have a cage warriors belfast special we have two welterweights making their pro debut we have troy gibson from fight academy ireland and we have paddy wilkinson from team rhino lads how are we doing oh gorgeous can't complain excellent store flats troy uh you're obviously coming off a fight of the year contender you went 9-2 amateur you picked up nearly all the amateur belts along the way how do you feel about fighting paddy wilkinson in your cage warriors pro debut yeah uh down the road ssc so faster every day um such an opportunity um to fight on them especially on cage warriors such a big promotion so we're only four weeks out here so very excited for it um patty yourself you haven't had been in the cage now for i think it's nearly two years this time you're six and one as an amateur i'm off silver medalist five wins by knockout how excited are you to actually just get back in the cage again yeah i can't wait yeah even even the train and i'm doing a lot with james she and then just aspire and the intensity you miss that sort of uh you know that kind of pop in your shot when you're just doing little bits of knocking around when you're in fleet camp it makes all the difference feel that kind of actually hitting each other you know yeah and patty just touched on troy he's obviously very long uh he's he's got those long limbs do you think they'll pose any challenges for you on fight night yeah i've always been the the small little stucky fat fellows i wasn't avoiding the ranger fellas so that's going to be a whole career anyone i fought is yours even taller than me so it's all the same you know you never troy is a wrestler i think so it's stylistically it's a weird one because on the small smaller less range striker and choice the longer taller wrestler which is a bit of a a weird matchup but we'll see how it goes on the noise i suppose that's what makes this matter so intriguing lads yeah no definitely definitely definitely doors and troy paddy's obviously got a lot of power in those hands he's got five knockouts on his i'm sure her resume not many people in the welterweight division um have an over eighty percent knockout uh finishing right do you fear that come fight no um will you be looking to engage more on the grappling as opposed to keep it on the feet not at all like just the whole part of it isn't it's just pieces some of the boys you fought before but it's a completely different fight um completely different atmosphere different show different everything the best moment wouldn't like but i'm not too worried about what he's done in the past but this this is an interesting one because uh obviously you have no lawyers fare on on the two lads making their pro debuts and does this make you more excited for the car buzz because i think this is the second uh all irish uh debut debutants on the cage warriors card yeah well uh obviously we we've known troy for a while we had a mom for the last fight against jordan and that was like one of the best fights i've seen live like um it was it was like it was without a doubt that jordan and troy they were gonna get signed boy cage were straight after that so like that's why watching troy going again it's going to be quality paddy as you said like he's a bit of a knockout more than hasn't competed in the last couple of years but he was saying he was wanting to get back in and then the cage where his contract came up and it was just a perfect timing paddy it really was a radio i was never going to turn around okay i joined this contract no matter who it was against i found out troy's name as i was saying and the signing in the paper so i wasn't going to turn that one down and then uh paddy what's a like uh training alongside jim sheen you know you're both in the same weight class at i know james they're still looking for a matchup to get on the card do you feel like the intensity in the gym is really building towards this uh this point yeah definitely there's also adam darby was on the card as well so does the three of us know derby's over in the boy at the minute but he'd be coming back in the next week or two so there's three of us on the cage where he was carried all in around the same way i think darby's pointing around 73 kilos or so it's a catch weight it's above lightweight but it's below welterweight so i know with moyles in the gym he's prepping for our fault there's a couple of us there so it's great when you go into the gym and you you kind of all you all go and have their heavy spires off each other and show each other different techniques and whatnot like it's it's a good pose at the minute in the gym and then uh troy there wouldn't be a cage warriors belfast car without the floyd academy iron lads what's the buzz like in your gym at the moment yeah it's we're all proud and fort like obviously we've got a mafia earlier fight and then obviously then those rounds there's four of us looking to get looking to get ready for it and either somebody in the gym so we're just all preparing for the next four weeks here troy will be any nerves come finally obviously you're making your pro debut it's going to be up in belfast it's going to be about 4 000 people there like this is going to be one of the biggest moments your career like uh myself barry were describing a cage warriors belfast as ireland's answer to ufc london this year yeah there for you i was obviously going to be a bit of nerves like normal but it's good nerves yeah it depends which way you use it and use it in a good way and i'm just excited for it more than more than anything one opportunity for first opportunity for everyone on the card like when's the last time it came to ssc like it's never obviously but it was the last time and when i was at 2016. so it's nearly like smart one opportunity just excited myth basically like it's only 10 minutes down the road you can't  win yeah it's bad's like i don't think i've been more excited for a car than this car i think obviously we were over ufc london and cage wires london um we're going back to london but like i think this is the car that i'm most excited for all year i'm just like okay it doesn't actually get much bigger and better than this like we've been doing the countdown about 10 weeks out [Laughter] you better believe it you better believe uh patty how do you see yourself getting your hand raised in this fight and another question on top of that is will the five minute rounds make any difference to yourself and now we've always started on four minutes in the gym it's it's always been that so it's kind of the normal like we never trained for treatment around uh i think getting your hand raised i never really went with a game plan tell me we go in there and try put my head down and swing for the hills like i'm also at the chipper i try and it doesn't work then you're you're sitting there going oh no what am i gonna do next you know so whenever i go in with the game plan we feel it they'll see how it is um in general they like to stay on my feet but i also like to wrestle you know like most of me trying to parents are restless so we'll see we're getting on but there's not going to be a game plan we're just going to go in there and i'm sure andy will in the lock in the changing room will have a few words of wisdom from you and then we'll go with that you know i thought you were reasonably saying the gameplan was uh brawling like you're outside the chipper yeah yeah what cheaper is the question that you would be keeping active over the last few years and then troy what about yourself uh we'll move into the five minute rounds make any difference to yourself have you had to put in extra work uh have you been ringing up kieran mulholland doing those steps to do and then how do you get yourself your hand raised yeah it's exact same work has been doing before just more just higher intensity and same as potty like five minute rounds is what we do we never do three minutes um so it makes a little difference but we just making sure we'll we'll have the cardio um the best it can be um we're just going to go that's as you're about to begin your professional careers like i mean obviously myself and ross wants us to both do really well but for people sharing in now like where do you want to like push your career i know you're only taking the first step now in the ssc arena cage where it's one for that fast live and ufc fight pass well where do you really want to push your career moving on after this troy you can go ahead first but yeah like as you said it's on your c fight pass like it warriors is the writ it's like 110 fighters i've went from gate towards the ufc so my eyes are highest levels so i'm just going to keep going keep fighting we'll get there like what about yourself buddy yeah i wish i'd i'll be taking and start to fight by fleet so you go here we put on the show on cage warriors hopefully that gets you another foot encouraged worries and before you know you have a multifury contract and just baby steps you know just look after one foot after the other and then see where that takes it i'm not going to be too worried about oh what if i do this in the future whatever you like it's just wherever they're going to me i'll look after that and then you go from there yeah shout out to fai and team rhino yeah um guys obviously i think this is the third all irish fight on the card which is uh pretty epic in one sense but also like you know we don't want to see any of the irish guys lose but uh some will have to uh go extreme going forward troy would you prefer to fight non irish fighters or does it bother you doesn't make a difference as an opponent um i would like i would like to open the card thank god i'll be popping because i was making our day videos opening the corridor would be nice like but no don't care over there it's almost there someone or something later well and what about yourself paddy do you mind pointing the auraspoilers or do you have a preference no i think we've done our whole amateur career well a lot of my footage are obviously abroad in bahrain but in general they're fully orders four years when they're bad i think it is very uh early on that career to face each other like troy is knowing in two one six and one we haven't had a lot of pace to defeat like so it's kind of like it is it's one of them whoever wins knocks the run out the pedestal for a while i knew that's for sure so it's good in a way but it's also very early on you see a lot of people build a rapport in the pro ranks before they start hanging on these voids it's good that me and troy are they only straight in the get-go brilliant yeah and then paddy we haven't seen yourself in about two years what differences have you made in those two years how far much further have you come along well the la well my last point was actually uh about three years ago and uh i thought i thought if i was actually now five and i was a pro but he was just a wrestler so he just he just know that he was so strong he just took me down and when i came back from the worlds i just went help a lot of wrestling it was one of them like oh i'm not going to let this happen to me again you know that i'm sort of a situation so i just worked a lot on my grappling i know it's kind of all coming together it's it's a piece in the puzzle together nicely you know i don't think i don't think you're going to see the old paddy where they come out and just want to stand you know i'm more definitely more well-rounded for you know that's for sure i thought you're going to say you're going to come out with a single well like if this is anything like that uh troy's last word this is gonna be an absolute barn burner uh troy's saying here loud and proud he wants to he wants to open up the whole entire event so that's why you're gonna have to get there early for cage warriors 140 belfast live and you see fight pass and if you want to buy any tickets for uh production is unbelievable yeah i was unreminded boy watching cold chest day the other day like the cameras they have lads jesus christ uh they're better than watching in real life and they're that good so it's going to be an epic platform for you guys to make your pro debut very pew people get to make their pro debut on such a great platform and i am absolutely buzzing for this one and troy do you have any final words you want to say before we let you get back on with your day uh yes everybody should get the tickets get your ashes on them seats don't like i just like the the promotion itself is fantastic like to do everything from the start to finish i mean isn't like true get get the get the belfast and watch the best fight and then paddy yeah same thing goes troy is obviously gonna have a big crowd up there in belfast he's from there so i'm going to bring a bus a lot of people up from dublin and we'll make some noise stop off stop off in the chip on the way up oh i
