uh yeah uh all right everyone uh welcome back uh today I have Mr Dennis McCarthy it's a pleasure to be on thanks for inviting me Tony no problem I I appreciate you uh making the the truck with the public transport all the way up from yeah I'm not driving yet so um Tony's had to come collect me and he's a legend for um I I hopped on the Lewis and you're supposed to change over at one point I jumped on the wrong tram twice and had to come back I was there on the phone to him like H I'm on the wrong spot I'm back on the right way now no I'm actually back at where I was I'm on the wrong spot again I'm not the smartest in there but there's definitely one brain cell in here working overtime yeah well um than said I I appreciate it and uh you know it's uh it's important for me to have you know individual yourself on so I'm more than happy to you know accommodate and you know help you out so it's no it's no bother to me at all but look um here we're going to we can get right into it I just got a few questions for you I want to I want to ask just to kind of get to know yourself a bit better cool one I'm going to mix these up nice I love that there's cards like that's the best you know in our um uh MMA class in Arlo we for the warm up the same system cards and you throw them on the floor and you'll have different exercises like squats burpees all that stuff that's not a bad idea great my instin Alik there is one I want to ask first can't find it right there all right this one so this is this is a fun one for me just cuz uh uh I like getting everyone's take on it U so just coffee or tea O Coffee I I think um coffee so tea I love tea like um I used to be a big tea drinker and up until I was about I think secondary school and I I kind of got into my fitness more I found like black coffee in first thing in the morning like super early morning gets you like pumped and just ready for the day like even though it's um there's no show no milk no nothing um I don't know what it is it just makes it makes dieting on a Clean Diet a lot easier and it just gives you like a bit more of excitement that morning just like just raw caffeine you couldn't get any like clearer yeah no black coffee is hard I I've tried to I transition to no sugar yeah yeah I do no sugar and a bit of uh just milk yeah um I I've tried to cut down the milk to go to black coffee but it it's difficult it's tough once you do it though like you'll never ever go back I think just a matter find in that right right coffee like uh I'll go to um there's a place uh there's a place in Arlo that used to do uh coffee out of a um a truck just by the Mr Price if anyone from AR was watching shout out to them I can't even remember the name of the place but super strong black coffee local coffee beans and oh my God like you will say if you have hard things to do that day you're going to get them done like yeah all right uh what is the best piece of advice you've ever gotten um best piece of advice I've ever gotten was from Richie smullen um I was not in a great place mentally at the time and but I was in very very good shape like uh I I'm a person who pushes like mental health problems a lot like cuz I deal with them a lot like all the time and uh I think I was going through a breakup or something at the time and uh I always choose to spend my time stupidly in the past whereas like you know I'd be late for training like during you know when we were training in boxfit with the lads like Rich You' be like why are you late and I'd be like a dropping my girlfriend off home it's like be selfish be selfish with your time like like [ __ ] what everyone else thinks like um you want to be a fighter don't you so spend your time at fighting like every need you have you should be pushing them needs like just the two words be selfish cuz like I'm a very nice person and uh sometimes that's actually a big weakness cuz I kind of like you know if I see homeless people on the street like I'll be [ __ ] trolling change into a cou and stuff but U my mat would be like what are you doing that for you're going to be broke at the end of the month why know I just feed off of it I get a good I get a good um feeling off of it just to know like this they might be a nice guy uh but he's he's eating today because of me and he might not steal some somebody's stuff because of that you know um yeah be selfish yeah that's good that's a you know it sound I don't want to say it sounds bad but I it doesn't sound the greatest but it actually like that's it's good information because I think a lot of people would probably put their own needs asde to do something for someone else at the detriment to themselves so you know and especially if you're trying to take something seriously you know be selfish especially with your time or whatever like that's not that's not terrible advice at all that's great yeah I remember it was just a big one for me cuz his voice would always stick in my head like you know the lads would be like H ringing me after training and they'd be like oh come on hop on the PlayStation with us or whatever we're playing [ __ ] whatever game and uh Richie's voice is just play in the back of my head and just like be selfish i' be like h no I'm going going to bed early I'm going to bed early tonight I want to go to the gym before work tomorrow smart um and yeah there's a lot of other advice he giv me there that's H very good um like even uh I I have this thing right where anytime I make a bad dietary decision Richie will pop up he'll just see me somehow I remember I was working in Tescos at the time and it was my lunch break going on a Friday and I was like right I've been good all week I've been running all this stuff and I was actually getting ready for a boxing match at the time and so I picked up a Dairy Milk Bar out of the sweet section I was like right I'm going to treat myself to this now first person that walked past is Richie no way yeah straight away how are you Dennis and then I was like oh no he's he's he's seen me to do that and then uh I went I went and I put it back and I went to the fruit section and I was like picked up a load of pears and stuff and and strawberries I was like look there's like [ __ ] at least 150 calories in days and that chocolate bear is like 800 and it's still a treat like and uh he appeared out of nowhere where'd you put the chocolate bar in this and I was like oh rich I was thinking about what you said there and [ __ ] I was like yeah and he's just like big smile come on his face yeah if you want to be a fighter you can't [ __ ] eat chocolate not even to pass your lips at all so it was H that's funny is it's it's I wouldn't call that advice but be like a great influence like you know yeah no I I've heard that from several people before that uh yeah that Richie's a you know a good person to have around and good info and S up so that's awesome happy he's around he happy that he's around for you there um so here next one dead or alive one person who would you want to have dinner with dead or alive one person H who would I want with me no to like to go have dinner with like had talk to her go have dinner with Muhammad Ali and yeah without even without even a thought there Muhammad Ali was like the first um influential person on my life because uh you know the way you have like David goggin you have like all these like inspirational people and stuff I remember there was a stage in school like like I used to as a young lad I used to be just sitting in my room eating bad food all day like I I was the point I tipped the scales at 140 kg at one point crazy like like I I [ __ ] I went so overboard with my life it was just extreme and um remember I started training um when I was about 10 or 11 with John Shields down in the old red door and um straight away he looked at me and he was like you remind me of myself when I was younger I used to wear glass asses and like all this stuff um but H yeah going back to what I was saying uh when I was young and fat and stuff I was looking into boxing and all and um Muhammad Ali came up and I was like being picked on at the time and all and I was like looking at all the oppression and stuff that Muhammad Ali had to go through like um he he was ref didn't want to go to the Army and stuff to be drafted away to Vietnam and uh he uh believed that they people weren't doing anything wrong why why his words I ain't got no quarrel with The N he used to say but um he's something that he a person that believed in something and it didn't matter what point of power was pushing down on him he was just like no this is what I believe in this is what I want to do with my life I'm going to do it and um especially like with training when he's talking about how hard you train like he's like uh you ever see that clip of him r with that H TV presenter he's like oh I'm going to cut out in a minute and Muhammad Ali is like you want to run until your throat feels like sandpaper until your lungs feel like they're on fire and yeah I just looked at all that sort of stuff and I was like [ __ ] this guy um this guy was just sitting there one day like I am and uh I in my mind I was like [ __ ] I do nothing with my life like I don't even know I am here like I have no reason to be alive right now and uh I was just like if someone can just think something and go out and act on it and and do it like why why the [ __ ] can't die like you know even though like I'd go to the gym and I remember I used to say to the lads I was training with like I'd be like I'm going to be a professional fighter one day and they'd be like you know you know they I'll be trying to be nice but like they' be like you're kind of 140 kg you know in their head whatever they're thinking and H [ __ ] I remember one of the lad wasn't nice to me and he was just like man you're literally overweight like why why like you can't be I was just like yeah no I think I'm I'm training harder now I'm going to do it I'm going to do it eventually you kind of need that person though too you know you can't have everyone just kind of fluffing you up makes you work harder to yeah you need that person not necessarily saying you can't but that can't right now yeah you know yeah yeah I thought it was very funny at the time I look back at it now and I'm just like how stubborn I was but at the same time it kept me motiva kept me working harder like like I remember at that point it was how old are you now I'm 23 I'm actually 24 now was my birthday on the 8th just what day is today the 11th yeah a couple days ago I'm getting older now thank you getting older now you're still young I I got I got a few years on you thank God uh well um yeah no um I look back at it now it was very uh very stubborn and uh definitely definitely needed to plan my life out a lot more um but I was definitely had I had the right idea in mine and acted on it so I wouldn't change it for the world like now right right on um here so if you could pick a superpower what would it be uh superpow um I would say h that's a to that's a very good one now um do you ever see in was it fantastic forward a guy that can like Rich super F I do that just so just just so I can annoy my coach with a super long JB that he can't reach cuz he's what like uh John Shields way taller than me and like he has a long long reach just to annoy him like stretch it out just let him know I can do it yeah there you go you can beat my ass but I've got this superow know that's really um one word to describe yourself he one word to describe myself i' would say uh that's a that's a tough one um just evolving um I think I've changed uh who I am in my life like three times that's good like uh I don't I wouldn't even recognize myself like when I was younger I was [ __ ] I looked like a a a Minecraft character like a square just a blob and um you know I had no athlet athleticism to me at all um I used to love music I used to play guitar for like hours every day and um yeah no discipline and then I changed to kind of semi having discipline you know still kind of like like hobby having a hobby like going out kicking the football with the lads like you know going to tie boxing um and you know H doing a having a healthy balance to it and then I think it was like I think it was I had my first kickboxing fight in Ireland um during I think it was 2018 or something like that h i i could be wrong now but um I switched up I remember fighting this absolute [ __ ] Greek god over a looking man like wild was still like 95 kilos of like saggy um saggy like kind of you know I had the that that Dad ball rocking that Dad ball which is respectable I think it's the Peak Performance but um I'm not going to argue with that yeah I think I don't know I feel better when I'm like that when you can have your food um but I I think there was a switch in me at that point then too just to be like um remember a guy pulled out of a fight uh over in Germany and uh I was in the gym training and now I am stubborn as like anyone that knows me I am so stubborn and I don't use my brain I just throw myself into things like um remember John was talking about how one The Lads pulled out of this fight and it's a big fight like [ __ ] I need to get a replacement for it um and I was just listening in what I think it was warming up at one The Lads or something like a pin or something I can't remember at the time just doing something just being like what are they talking about yeah and I heard him say I this fight in Germany I need to get somebody like that's 77 kilos and I was like [ __ ] it I'll fight him John what weight is it and he's like you're on after fighting that like 95 something whatever I was like [ __ ] it I'll fight him I don't care like [ __ ] what else have I got going on I was working on McDonald's at the time I'll fight him don't care so I went I I was 95 kilos and uh it was a solid month out from the time the date of the fight and uh so I had to start was train we were training twice a day on top of like say twice a day was MMA class Jujitsu boxing or whatever it' just be a mix up of all the tree and um and we me and John would go running in the morning before I the day of training would start and so I would be running on on a a 500ml bottle of water and I was eating a half a banana a day and then I'd have like one chicken fillet with a [ __ ] ton of salad at the end of the day just to treat myself kind of fill up a little B was just crazy at the time but um I wouldn't change it because uh [ __ ] it had to drill that discipline to me into like look [ __ ] you've not disciplined yourself for the last 18 years of your life like and so now when a big opportunity comes knocking on the door you've got to go to drastic measures which you should never have to and um so I went over and I thought a [ __ ] one of the top amateur welterweights out there at the time Max amillian cash is his name and he's now I think I believe he's at the last time I checked up because we followed each other on Instagram after we fought he's like [ __ ] seven and something with like six Ko's professional now like and it was his toughest fight of his amateur career on my first MMA fight out in Germany like after you know like I I [ __ ] didn't even train a whole lot of grappling for that that camp too so I was just I was so hard on myself after had that stage after where um I was proper depressed I was like ah [ __ ] I'm after losing a fight and my biggest thing in my head is like I can never lose a fight ever but then at the same time if you lose a fight you're going to learn where you're going wrong and you can better it if you if you win all the time you're just kind of like ah I want that one now we go to the next one and I win that one too yeah unfortunately most people can't have a uh most people can't have a you know 100% winning record you know so like it's good to have especially in your amateur career at least um to know how to lose know how to lose with dignity and um you know and like if you can take away from a loss that you know you you know where you need to you know improve yourself then I mean I don't want to say oh you know that's the win but you know what I mean like that's kind of I guess the upside to to the loss or whatever you know and um you know it's it's good for you know continuous self-improvement and if you're winning all the time you know perhaps you are really that good but like you know there might be areas where maybe you're you know you're not focusing on and eventually that might catch up with you yeah yeah big time it's like uh it's it's crazy like cuz when you get older I know I'm not much older than I was back then it was like just after the uh lockdown and all that stuff I think we were still in restrictions but it's crazy I always say to like um younger kids that I'd be coaching like about you're going like say even the other day young lad he's got his first um kickboxing I think it's no he's an MMA fight with no head shots you know them sort of ones um in a few weeks time and he was like H his last one canceled on him and he was just like I'm I was so nervous I was in Math's class on Friday before and I just I was like so nervous just thinking about it all day and I was like yeah one day you're going to look back at that and you're going to realize why was I nervous dter guy is nervous nervous too like he's as nervous as I am if you just pretend you're not nervous then you go into the ring and you're just looking at him like whatever like he's not he's going to be more nervous than you because he's like why is this guy not nervous you know I think it's really cool cuz um I I look back at that now and I'm like Jesus was doing very well like you know for your first MMA fight to go in against someone that experienced and not it you know like my coach was honest with me and he just said um I'd be happy if you just go through the whole rounds like and you know just not you know not let him finish you as a m or anything yeah and um [ __ ] even like winning exchanges standing up man like I'd say you know it was crazy to watch like um we just worked that hard we got the job done we came came short on the grappling and the things cuz we weren't I was training for kickboxing fight but um that's where where we've been working now the last while like [ __ ] big time and um I just can't wait to step into the cage again like just just to [ __ ] you know have it more well-rounded now um what what do you have a hobby outside of you know like Combat Sports in general not really no um everything I'm I'm a bit boring like um I work in a supermarket I work in Ali which is very good for the mind to be fair cuz it is hard and um fighting is my hobby it's my hobby that I've turned into it's my hobby it is therapy for me like genuinely [ __ ] if there is like you know the way they always say like all people should go talk to somebody if they're um if they're finding mental problems or whatever I think if you P you know a mental problem comes from you're not happy in what you're doing like so if you're sitting there and you're in a job and you don't like that job the whole day your mind is ruined already and then you go home and you just watch TV or something watching TV is like fair enough it's a little bit therapeutic but you're not actually like you're not giving yourself to do something you know yeah I think with com Sports in general it's there's a kind of a meditation that comes along with doing something that's physically difficult yeah you know and I think for a lot of people in general if they're either just to work out or um you know practice a a train and combat sport then you know I think you know mentally they might be a better bit better off every person I've ever spoke to um you on this podcast and in person or whatever um they have all said at one point or another that you know Combat Sports is been kind of their the key to you know their mental stability yeah yeah I think if I didn't have it I wouldn't be on the planet like I literally said it to my coach today after and like I was just looking at him I was like trying not to cry after doing hard rounds I was like I was like um it's actually mad because like if I didn't have this actually wouldn't be speaking to you right now it was Cra Crazy like to think but it is true um I don't know like I feel like there's I belong to you know when you feel like you belong to something like you know and 100% yeah that's another thing I think people are lacking especially men you know kind of uh you know belonging to anything really you know um I don't think I think most people probably don't have like a like a tight-knit friend group yeah but you know like these training sessions that you would go to like you know for either it be you know like striking or you know grappling to MMA or anything like that like you're all kind of in this struggle together to do something difficult so like you all know you're all you you're all suffering uh um together basically you know you kind of you have that one thing in common and I think that really it's weird to say like suffering brings people together yeah oh big time yeah I was listening to one of your podcasts reing on it and I really like when he was saying about when he was sparring and Peter kley came over and said it's about who suffers more in there's the winner I was like that's that's the coolest thing to think about like you think about that when you're training man like sh you know you're going to push yourself every time like you know you're just thinking you're doing your [ __ ] sprints on the ski machine Ora bike whatever you know just things that are [ __ ] hard if you're just thinking in your head right 10 rounds and you do five and you're like ah I want to leave it at 5 if you're like [ __ ] that like dude our lad's going to leave it at 5: I'm going to go to 10 you know and then go for a light jog after you know it's it's pretty cool to think about like having people like that around you just strengthens you think about if Peter quy wasn't there well he's sparring and it's just dead silence in between rounds and they're sparring and he's like [ __ ] this is tough and then we just jump jump back into the round and there was no energy given from Peter there and then it would drop off then you know the the work we would drop would drop off because Peter's not there cuz the family is not working together yeah I think that's cool to think of all the lads up there were around there's some a lad standing behind you on the bag so you're hitting it harder like you know that sort of stuff is [ __ ] brilliant to me and you know and there might even be people up there maybe I don't say you don't like but you know maybe they just kind of irritate you or whatever but like you're still doing this thing together so it's like it is in a way kind of like a real family everyone's got you know some family member or something where it's like you know that person just kind of drives you crazy but you know you're you're still family so you're you know you know you love that person regardless or whatever yeah yeah um all right favorite movie favorite movie oh there's uh okay so my Nery side will come out for this one um and then I [ __ ] think I have like two personas for some reason like my favorite movies while I'm a nerd is Star Wars movies I watch everything Star Wars nothing wrong with that I'm a big fan as well yeah absolutely everything Star Wars from the kids shows right up to the adults movies yeah yeah con Wars those are the those are the best hell yeah they are so good like um and there's a lot of them too which is awesome loads of hours of watching that I can't wait to watch them with my kids yeah yeah and teach them about it too like even like do they have the games for it like Lego STS grew up playing that like um as funny as it sounds I actually booted it back up there the other day on my rest day just just to be like was it actually that good it was that good by the way and not not even any shame to admit that but um Star Wars is a big one and um I think Creed was a big one too when it's comes for motivation for training because you watch the Creed movies and you just feel like no actually no I got to put Rocky before Creed because U Rocky's the OG like he's right on especially Rocky Balboa that's was [ __ ] big on mental health and I think it was like you know no one believed in him and all and he was like [ __ ] it I'm coming back and I'm going to Wi and he [ __ ] you know he did and he didn't yep he did it what would you prefer City Life or country life so this is a hard one to answer um I like my small town in Aro and um I feel at home when I'm in Ireland but H I'm a real big H I love Arizona Heart like I can't grew up [ __ ] going over there every Christmas with my family like and um just I I don't know what it is man no matter where I go it just I just feel welcome over there like uh America's great I went um over for the first time as as an adult there last October okay and um I had a boxing match so I went over for three and a half weeks with the idea of I need to continue training camp over here and find a gym and I just went with my family like and uh sent it I was just like right gyms in Arizona Gilbert and uh all these gyms were showing up I went to one that actually closed down and it turned into some sort of CrossFit gym which I ended up training that just because why not like it was an experience and I met some pretty cool people doing it too um but uh I remember I just ran into a guy in h my family used to go to the pub to catch up each other at the end of the day you know and uh I used to get soda water and I used to annoy the [ __ ] the waiters and waitresses ordering it cuz it was free over there yeah and um remember I met this guy out of nowhere um coaching in h he's coaching in jab Fitness which is an MMA gym over there and uh I was talking to him he he was telling me Oh I used to fight when I was younger and stuff whatever he's like you're from Ireland are you and all this stuff kind of just talking to me getting an know me and I was telling them about it like I was like ah I've got this boxing match I'm fighting two Lads on the same night and um I'm I'm in training camp for right now and I'm I'm training in this little box for gym called um it was called uh Rumble boxing that's what it was called it was [ __ ] such a cool gym to be in man just uh atmosphere like it was that was in Arizona right yeah yeah the Gilbert there's a load of branches of that those in Gilbert and I was like yeah well I miss missing that um striking coach and grappling coach and all you know that atmosphere I'm missing that like uh and he's oh cool what gyms were you looking at and he was asking me I was like all right there's this one jab Fitness it's kind of far away but I think I can Uber there every day pretty handily and he was like oh that's like that looks like a a real bad gym look at the page at it of it and I was like oh this guy doesn't seem to like it that much and then I looked at the page and he was like scroll down scroll down and here's a picture of him holding pads up [ __ ] for this gym and I was just like that is [ __ ] so cool like you you mean to tell me I come into this random Po in Gilbert and sat down had an absolutely random conversation with you and you turn out to be a coach at this [ __ ] gym like and he's like yeah what are you doing tomorrow morning 8:00 a.m. I'll pick you up at your address and bring you to the gym straight straight first thing in the morning like uh that's awesome it was so cool because um the first day I trained there literally they left me with Left Me by myself in the gym with the keys everything just not butter straight away and I have [ __ ] John long like the kind runs things in in jab Fitness like he does all the classes and and he all night strike and he he's got his own like he's big on his marketing and stuff for his uh for his gym too and for as Fighters which I think is pretty cool but um I would be going I'd be first thing on a plane St straight over to them and uh the hard thing is like I want to be in two places at the same time like I want to be able to train with kieron and Richie and all the lads like Carol and all and the train with them I'd love to go like three days in Ireland four days in the US you know but I have to pick one I suppose and you know h it's yeah know it's um American culture is pretty open to you know like said first day there they kind of left you with the keys to the place you know yeah we tend to be very uh open and trusting a lot of people at least uh at least in where I'm from it it seems to be like that yeah yeah but um cool so um can you tell me how you know kind of combat sport has changed your life oh uh Combat Sports has changed my life um in a sense that like um I used to be the kid in school and I would right let's start from when I was born when I was born H my mom said uh I told her about coming on the podcast and I was like I haven't really gone public with an interview or anything like that in my life and and only recently I've been posting things where I'm actually talking on it and not like just hitting the pads or like you know doing a drill or whatever and my mom said make sure they know that you come into the world fighting with the umbilical cord tied around your neck and you have to be like resuscitated and everything and um she had to take me away from my mom and then bring me back on so I was okay and but I didn't tap out then and I still haven't I I I shouldn't have said that just in case but you know what ever but um yeah no she said she said make sure you tell let everyone know like when I was younger um coming into Primary School even before like I was overweight or anything uh my parents were dealt a pretty hard but and it was like that they were told that I wouldn't ever be able to actually ride a bike by myself or finish public school or um you know I I would be very dependent on my parents for the rest of my life because uh I was diagnosed with autism and whatever you know I kind of just learned how to I kind of learned how to um push that to the side and like I call it be more normal because I feel like I can cuz no one's being like Oh you're being offensive but um you know I kind of learned how to become more average like you know be on the same wavelength of everyone else not hide underneath the tables in school which I used to when I was younger um and uh yeah it's good that you haven't let that be like a limiting factor in your life cuz I know sometimes people will get like a diagnosis like that and then they just they hold on to it and then that's kind of it's a Crut for everything yeah you know so I think it's great that you know you got to have't went that route yeah it's crazy like when I feel like it's whenever somebody in my bloodline gets told that they can't do something they always end up doing it like yeah it's weird um like it's mad cuz it boils my blood when someone tells me you can't do that and then I'm just like yeah I can like I've got ability there to do it I feel like um my parents probably told me when I was younger I can't really remember if they did or not but they were probably like actually they did they told me um when I was learning to ride a bike H they had to stabilizers on this little kidss bike thing and I was like 6 years of age at the time I'd say and I was like why have I got stabilizers I'm six a sort way and I was there on the bike with the stabilizers and my mom was like uh he's going to kill himself on that bike to my dad and I just heard them and they were about worried watching me and I was like whatever I'm going to jump off this thing till they go away and they went away then and I pulled the two stabilizers off at myself jumped on the bike and went riding around on this table and I think it was my dad come home from work or something that day and they were like he's riding the bike and I was like yeah I'm I'm riding the bike and what and they like you learned that all by yourself yep okay and I just kind of realized okay this this kid's uh this kid's not like [ __ ] going to be not riding the bike and all this [ __ ] that they were telling them and I think I've always had that little bit of a devil in me where I'm like I'm just a little [ __ ] when I'm younger you know like uh I've got a little cousin now um and he's kind of reminds me of myself when I was younger like you know whenever my uncle sees me uh and he's with his kid he'll be like throw a kick at him and my little cousin run up and just round kick me in the ass or something like uh I'm just like yeah that's like [ __ ] if I was you know H more in in touch with who I was when I was younger I'd probably be like him like you know yeah and I think it's just cool to see like the [ __ ] same [ __ ] I had is in the Next Generation my bloodline like it that is cool that cool yeah um what would be your most memorable moment in Combat Sports um my most memorable moment would be so a Breaking Point in I've got two for you right I've got one which was a breaking point where I actually believed in myself and uh I had purpose for fighting I was up in Wen gar and I was fighting on Alan McCormick's show uh RFC and um your man I was fighting against was in phenomenal shape like and uh he I just remember my name being called out and he was behind me my coach was in front of me and he was like I turned around seen the guy I was fighting I was like I was like a fat Miss and um I had just come out of like [ __ ] rock bottom mentally and I turned around and seen him and I was like that's who I'm fighting turned around my coach was like don't [ __ ] mind him you just get into that ring now and I was like okay hopped into the ring and um I remember actually before even that point hitting the pads before H Wonder ladid went to school with he took a own life because he was dealing with [ __ ] mentally like and just didn't tell anyone didn't do anything about it or nothing and um I remember hitting the pads and just thinking about him like just being just hitting the pads and I was just like I was like n [ __ ] that I going wi this fight like you know I was not believing in myself and all and for so long in my life just hitting it I was like nah [ __ ] this I'm I'm winning this like I don't give a [ __ ] like whatever stands across the ring and and I was hitting [ __ ] hard on the pads I don't think I had ever hit that hard in my life and um I was like to my coach I was like Bry take a video of me and send it to my dad and uh he did and I [ __ ] I need to get that video um but I was just hitting the pads like and I wasn't getting tired like they were telling me no C calm down don't waste all your energy before the fight and I was like no no let's do speed kicks [ __ ] that I I'm going in there already and and um come to the fight then and I was looking at your man obviously going back to that and he looked way bigger than me and all hopped in the ring then and I say your man was looking at me and he was just like he's a fat Miss I'm going to knock him out like straight away and he the first spell went like and he just K I went to touch gloves with him and like he didn't even see that I went to touch gloves with him he just swung at me and clucked me straight in the face really and um [ __ ] I just remember taking it all in the face and I was like [ __ ] and I got my composure eventually and head movement started going then she started missing shots and I was just touching his chin a little bit um and I was like right he's going to gas out and I'm just I'm just going to be laughing after this first round cuz he thinks that he thinks because of how I look he's got you yeah he's got me and I remember after the first round he was like like proper pushing air out his lungs like he was bollocked and I was in the corner and I was just sitting there looking at him and I was a bit tired too um I had barely touched him after the first round um but I was like I knew what I could do and I my coach was just screaming in my face like you need to move your head whatever BL and I just like pushed him aside and I just looked over at your man and I started laughing there's a video on me just laughing at him like cuz he is BS on the ropes and I haven't even got started like and uh so we go into the next round then and um I just started Landing combo was like [ __ ] like three four punches and then a kick and then your man hit the floor after I kicked cuz he was off balance or something I timed his he tried to kick well and he didn't have great technique for his kick so straight on the floor and I just looked straight over at my dad then cuz I knew it's just grueling for my dad to watch me train so hard like and then hop in the ring and it just looks like I'm getting my [ __ ] ass beat well I was getting my ass beat but it was in a good way calculated yeah and I remember there was one point in that fight then where my mate from school who had passed his mom texted me after the fight and showed me a video of in the second round I had done a switch stance thing that Gary Rooney was showing up in h SBG one day this Lally days before the fight as well and I stood on the map practicing after class and everything so practice makes perfect everyone and yeah I landed the same the same switch stance left hand on your man and knocked him out like he h straight out straight away just landed like landed at the end of the first round and then like kind of probed it second round landed it went down straight away and uh ref stopped the fight but you can see like in the video there's like an orb going into my left hand I'm a Believer in spiritual stuff and um I'll openly say like I do leave that [ __ ] my M from school had given me like power to actually [ __ ] believe in myself I kind of pushed my left hand into your man he's [ __ ] Let It Go CU it's there and won that anyway and I think that was number one Breaking Point through for me fighting like and I think the number two one was um going to Germany and uh fighting on the GMC and having the big lights and the camera in my face and all [ __ ] my yourself like just being like I'm a big proper event yeah I was just like I'm from Arlo like this like this [ __ ] doesn't exist like you know I only see this on the Telly like you know um and had just a big light in front of my face and the camera and just you know taking it all in and realizing like if I work hard enough for something and I throw myself into the opportunities that are there like I can I can actually [ __ ] do what I want like like I lost that fight that day but um I think it was the happiest I've ever been in my life that day like [ __ ] me man it was surreal that's was yeah that's great um you know to experience that you you know the light to experience you know the you know all these people big event big venue cameras everything that is it's a lot of pressure for you know for people to to take and um you to handle it well uh or to handle it even okay I think is it's tough you know especially if you're not your first time for sure like uh unless you kind of grow up under that um you know under you know those kind of circumstances then um it's certainly tough to to have to overcome that but um it to be fair it's a it's a cool experience you know like it feels great you know um something about you know having a lot of people kind of just stare not stare at you but you know like watch you and look to see how you're going to perform in front of them like that that uh that is a is a it's a unique feeling for sure it's crazy no no other feeling like that like no no no um like even uh you know you forget that everyone is there at a point but it's just crazy walking up to that octagon you're like what is going on here like you know it's just it's just so cool and I think uh like I think I think it's great I don't think there's any other sport compares to it football stuff like that yeah there's passion in it and I played football for a good while I used to play on the wing and you know I was that fit to the point where I'd be given full back stick saying are you fast and then I just go and I'd be past them they'd be like [ __ ] off man or whatever and but yeah fighting is a complete it takes discipline that's why you have to be you have to be a good person and a good disciplined person hold one sec got yeah okay it is going and almost had a little mini panic there because I couldn't see the the red light up on the screen and I'm [ __ ] we're not yeah it has happened before and it's it it's devastating it's horrible worst feeling in the world you either have to try and go back and organically have that conversation again um which is near impossible to do yeah um or you just kind of got to just skip it or just skip it yeah um yeah it's a bummer but um no we're we're good to go yeah thank God all right um what do you do to prepare mentally for your fights for my fights I have such I have this down to a tea you have like a ritual or I am so happy to be surrounded by The Lads that I I was at the start of when I first started fighting to learn off them and Aaron lenon I learned this off him for H nerves now I am [ __ ] I a big bag of nerves when it comes to fighting and well at the start it was anyway now I kind of just learn to enjoy it uh but what we do is you bring your pillow with you to whatever venue it is I got a nice pair of uh noise cancelling Studio headphones can't hear a thing with them so could be cracking pads next to me don't hear them so what you do is I'll ask the promoter what time am I going to fight at roughly um and they could say oh you're fighting at 8:00 so I'll set my alarm for 7:30 7:35 I be exact with that time because what happens then is I'm going to stick my headphones on and it could be music that I've listened to during training camp to keep me motivated training or it could be a big one as of late has been uh motivational speeches with Tyson Fury Muhammad Ali H Floyd Mayweather Connor like just a load of stuff like that people that are successful and their point of view on it like you know and I can kind of be sitting there half asleep before I fight like oh that's pretty cool my mind isn't even on the fight like I've done the preparation for it and you don't have time to be nervous cuz you end up falling asleep and you wake up 20 minutes before you fight so you wake up and your coach is like right come on warm up hit the pads start Shadow Boxing whatever whatever they want you to do and there is no emotion to it you just warm up and then you it's time to go in the ring and uh you've done all the work so you know you don't have time to be nervous you've warmed up you hop in the ring your opponent's in front of you nothing can go wrong I think it's absolutely foolproof so if anyone is looking to adapt to nerves like I Tred to push it into the kids so much like I'm like get yourself a good pair of headphones don't listen to nobody go to sleep for your fight and Coach will call you and it's time to warm up cuz you're not thinking about it not a bad idea to kind of just be in a I don't say you're not necessar you're not zoning out but to kind of just be relaxed kind of ultimately like I mean how you have to be relaxed to go to sleep so you know if you can yeah take a like a short little nap or whatever beforehand yeah and you wake up feeling maybe even a bit refreshed even yeah mentally refreshed is a big thing too yeah know that's great like there's um I sleep for long periods of time because how hard I tend to Train sometimes I overtrain I mean all the time overtrain cuz I just have nothing else to do I train I Bard them half the time yeah and um to be mentally mentally refreshed before you go into a fight is so good like like I've went into um fights where I am worrying like he's bigger than me what what if he catches me with the right hand what you know what if what if you know all this stuff and it's just silly like you know one or one or two fights like that it's just silly at the start and there's no skill to it it just becomes a slugfest and you don't want that if you've trained a skill for such a long time you want to be able to use that so why turn it into a slugfest with you know negative thoughts let's go asleep before that fight and hop in there and use your reaction your timing all that stuff techniques and the less cardio you use the better um so you know in Comet Sports and you know kickboxing MMA like there's certainly risk for injury yeah like uh what is it that do you do anything specific to kind of mitigate for injuries yeah so I am I used to not I used to not do anything like stretching or warming up when I was younger which you get away with when you're younger so like when I was 18 years of age I'd get away with it all the time I'd literally go run 10K first thing no warm up no nothing I'd run it I'd go home shower and I'd be straight on the PlayStation or whatever yeah healing time and um now if I run I will feel my legs if I do not warm up and cool down uh when I'm in training I will be doing some sort of grappling and I I feel how tight my glutes are my hamstrings and all they're all going to be sore cuz I've gotten older now and they're repairing at a slower rate uh because up until I think it's you're 25 your body naturally just gets stronger and stronger as much as it can so you get away with no um recovery and all but now I feel it the most where I can't hit the bag all day and I'll start to get sore elbows and um my hands wear down H your back starts to get sore so making time that extra day of recovery training I think that's so important like um the ice bat sauna even like you can do cardio while you're on your rest day swimming like that's been brilliant the last while even though I am I'm so bad at swimming like it's funny people just look over at me and I'm there doggy paddling but uh yeah um one big thing as well is like uh if you ever see recovery boots there's a place in Arlo the HotBox Aro like a what's that so recovery boots are like compression they oh yeah yeah they are brilliant like especially a full couple places here um that uh you can go uh I always call it the flow lab it's a a flow recovery Lounge um the they have them there that you can use you know they also have a cold water big huge cold water tank it's like a 10 person tank they are horrible by the way they are horrible uh they have a hot tub and a sauna and then they have the those uh the boots as well yeah um yeah know the cold water is I'll be H like I used to like it yeah um but like not the biggest fan anymore like it's it's if I can go immediately like into like a sauna like it's not terrible but like I have one here like like a little one like a little portable one and um I've used it a couple times but um like it's nice but like I I need a sauna to go to like it's not that like I can what I would do generally is I would get in the water and stay to do about 10 minutes and then I'd go up and take 10 minutes in and take a hot shower yeah and um yeah but like it's not the same you know like uh I'd rather jump into a sauna you know U but like to be fair like it is nice though like it's good for U like I suffer with my shoulders you know my my shoulders [ __ ] kill shoulders are killer man yeah um just like just doing Jiu-Jitsu and you know moving around then you know arms being uh you know pulled and stretched and you know you know I've actually got something really cool for you that you should do for Jiu-Jitsu class get yourself a weak resistance band I learned this off of U one of the girls up in the Box clo and air CL and I was always watching her she'd be there with her hands like this pulling a resistance band like that and behind her head and now before training and I just be looking at her and I'd be like she's warming her shoulders up um it's probably not a bad idea and I was like that's pretty cool so I started adapting that I started doing it and shoulder pains are gone ever since I de started doing that mad like just [ __ ] 30 seconds of pulling this stupid band around like um people looking at you silly like what is he doing um saves your shoulders I have to have to give that a shot actually I have some uh excuse me I have some of those uh bands inside so uh I have to I'll try that that's one like you were talking about uh like warming up and cooling down um and then like stretching as well like like the three things I'm you know I'm guilty of uh neglecting it's cuz we're all so caught for time like when you're you know you know we say that but like you know like I work from home yeah you know like my desk is just over there like I I got for something like that there isn't I can make excuses which I do yeah you know and that's what everyone does you oh you time I don't have the time but like it is there we just got to make it and I'm just being I'm just neglecting it you know and then complaining about the my problems later it's hard you know and um I don't know it's just part of being a human I think but um yeah know it's discipline it comes out it's a discipline things really what it comes down to um you know and all right two more questions here cool um how do you stay passionate about you know comat Sports so how I stay passionate right I would say it's just in me H it's the only thing that I feel I belong to yeah like it's the only thing I always say it's the only thing I've ever been good at number one but it was the first thing I was ever terrible at okay so I was terrible for at it for so long that I became good at it and then I was like okay this is where sticking to it really works out like I've become good at and now it's the only thing I kind of have and but H sometimes you know you'll be like have bad days and you'll be like oh don't want to go to training I want to go to bed whatever you know you might be [ __ ] feeling sorry for yourself or something like that this is where your training Partners will start to be come important and where like your coach will text you I remember one morning I had boxing pads and uh I I my my coach will text me like half an hour before because one time I I slipped it out like I usually train super early for boxing like so it could be like 5 or 600 a.m. and uh he'd be like are you up yet and i' just not reply and he'd ring me and I'd be like ah I'm I'm I'm feeling [ __ ] today I don't want to go and he'd be like no these are the days that can't come in now and you know I'd come in and I'd just be there and i' be like a I don't want to be here yeah know the days you don't want to do it are the days you definitely should yeah yeah you feel so much better after yeah and then the amount of regret you'll feel if you don't do it yeah you know you just feel 10 times worse oh yeah you know especially like especially if you know like you're capable of doing it yeah you just kind of chose not to it's killer on the mind like um you know uh especially anyone that works a day job um if you have like my work it will be two 2 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. or 5:00 a.m. to 2: p.m. so I'll come up to Dublin a train if I'm finish at 2 p.m. but um if it's 2: to 10:00 p.m. I am stuck in AR that day okay h a train in Arlo And I have you know the lads down there and I have the boxing gym and normal gym and stuff where where are you training up here so up here SBG the HQ there are you up there yeah yeah and um I'll go from there and then i' we've got box F gym and Aro and then there's you know obviously normal Fitness Gyms and then there's Arlo Jiu-Jitsu Academy Arlo mixed martial arts as well which on Shields and um yeah I have a lot of gym memberships to make up for there that like it's crazy each month like and um I just float about to each different gym as much as I can yeah yeah yeah and they get kind of expensive oh yeah is especially like at HQ I know they're they're expensive generally where I train as well um I'm either there in the morning or uh in the afternoon at the afternoon jet class but I haven't been to that class in quite a while yeah and know desperate to go back I'm am I'm usually in Striking up in Dublin and uh I always had um Kieran and Richie were kind of saying to me like you want to get your grappling to be good enough to to be able to appreciate the technique that are being shown in them classes cuz uh some of them would be very Advanced and I remember like I'd go to jits up there and they'd be showing something and I'd be like I'd be like what what like how do you do that and I just felt like a hindrance on the class but now I'd feel comfortable going up there and training um so uh I'll try to make that Jitsu Class A lot more like um I I train for the most part down in AR for jitu chain with uh what's it Derek black be Dean yeah East Coast us to yeah um it' be Dean Barry and Brian Kelly are running the one in um Arlo it'll be the same yeah yeah so yeah they're they're they're so so nice man there I've always wanted I've always wanted to go down there yeah you should yeah we have a there's open mat in Arlo on a Saturday and Sunday and I'm not sure what the East Coast open mats days are but they're so fun like like H every everyone they're so funny like you have such characters there like um remember one day my friend Ben who I actually met from a training jitu down there he wears braces and one of the lads just got a brand new rash card and we're doing noi and he got his brace I don't know how it happened got his brace caught in the Rashard and like everyone just stopped rolling and was looking over and we were all trying to figure out how to get this Rashard off without actually ripping it felt so sorry for the boat with them like oh brand new Rashard and the one day you wear in gets caught in someone's brace imagine yeah yeah now um yeah what was the question was about motivation right I how to stay motivated in it um um or was it the sorry what keeps you passionate what passionate yeah passionate what keeps me passionate was how low I was in my life when I was super heavy and I had no discipline I had no no sense of direction with my life I remember I used to be in college in atan and like so so out of shape and people used to look at me and you know I was that heavy that people look at me and start laughing and they just be like the S of him like holy [ __ ] how tall are you I'm about I'd be about 6 foot roughly I actually haven't measured myself in years so [ __ ] be roughly around there yeah said you're about 140 kg wow it's almost like 300 isn't it yeah wow yeah um I used to not be able to uh walk for a long periods of time I yeah would always be on say video games and people could hear me breathing through the microphone that I was that heavy really and uh I [ __ ] obviously severely picked on and all and uh remember there was a point where I was hobby training down to about 110 kilos and I'd fluctuate from 110 to 120 with a severely poor diet but just training super hard and uh I went out for a walk one night and while I was in college and my head was [ __ ] and I just didn't know what it was at like and stood at the bridge in at Lone Town middle of the night [ __ ] people that were on gear walking past me you know not a safe place at all I just didn't care I was going out and I was sitting there looking at the bridge I don't know why I was looking at it I don't know why I was looking up and this is like 3:00 in the morning looking up at the sky and all and looking at all this [ __ ] it was kind of a dam sort of thing water flowing through it and I was like what do I actually want to do what my life from this point on like what do I want to do and and it was funny because the next day I said i' I'd um start I'd start like pushing myself to do something do something with myself you know at least get in shape anyway the next day uh Kieran smen rang me and and he said hey I'm going up to SBG Concord uh what was it starting up there NE I can't remember what day it was I remember gner Nelson was doing some sort of I think a seminar or something like that I can't I could be completely wrong on that but something like that was happening that H he was going to go up to and he was like um H you should get signed up on a membership and now like me and Kieran would know each other at the time but we wouldn't you know each other that well yeah but he just rang me come with me up tog tomorrow or whatever day was or whatever and I moved back home and I think it was I can't remember exactly when it was I may ask him but I moved back home anyway from college dropped out of college straight away what were you studying I was H Byer supervision the course was called so it would have been like culinary arts and cocktail mixing and all that stuff and which I I kind of liked and but I wouldn't want to do that for the rest of my life um and I I walked in went up to my Dean and I was just like I felt so guilty for it because um they liked me there like you know um and I I used to do super well when I when I was um you know getting tested and stuff I'd have great ideas and stuff and like to help other people out with their assignments and stuff but uh I just went to my Dean and I was like look um I'm having bad health issues right now I just made some [ __ ] excuse to her and uh I was like I'm going to actually have to just drop out the course but you have all been [ __ ] great and uh I moved back home then didn't tell my parents that I was uh dropping out of college for ages just cuz it haunted me I was like I was like ah they're going to just think I'm a failure straight away like and I still wasn't in shape so I was you know mentally I was like ah they're just going to be like what what are you doing with your life then and they already knew parents always know they already knew I dropped out one um it was like a week I was back home and I was supposed to be on a break or something from college um and then I started just training like like we used to go to Concord me and kieron um it was a summertime I think uh just before summer we started and we used to go up on the bus H would take a 9:00 bus or 8:00 bus and get up to the HQ for it used to be the stop at Bluebell and we get off there about 10 or 9 or 10 a.m. roughly I'd say and the full day it would be training all day it would be like a 9 to5 I was on the doll like um claiming 100 something a week spending all my money on just bus ticket and straight up to the SPG training all day and like literally I lost up to about 95 kg at that point just training but still bad bad diet well I always watched like Connor when he was saying like uh when you're becoming obsessed with it with fighting like you have to treat it like a 9 to five there's n of this [ __ ] like you know all my arms are sore I'm going to rest today know going and cycle like you know going trying kicks that day but um yeah especially because I was young I could train all day so I used to go in and I'd hit the bag or shadow box or practice some sort of weird like technique that I had been shown in the class to day beforehand before class and then I go into class and um remember vitec used to coach the boxing class up there and it was my [ __ ] favorite class and um and we put on Facebook a while ago that he wasn't um going to be doing the classes anymore whatever um and [ __ ] the first thing I put up in the group remember I was there and I was so heavy but I used to train so hard like I you'd look at me and you'd be like that kid sits there eating pizza all day [ __ ] you know whatever just just average and uh I was training so hard to be like the warm up and I'd be killing myself like in the warmup even and voytech used to stand and just shout at me come on heavyweight you are number one and I just used to [ __ ] love it man and and I was just like [ __ ] like this is this is where I'm supposed to be at like all these years of like [ __ ] you know trying one thing and then going on you know just being like ah it's not for me and then leaving it whatever and this is where I feel like I'm at home like um and it's kind of good like I was thankful the other day was coming out of Jitsu class on the lad's Liam and we were talking about bullying and I was like [ __ ] I was he was we were talking about how bullying actually helps you like because you know people fair enough The Bullying goes far and then like things that are bad that happen but I got bullied and and then it threw me into MMA and then because it threw me into MMA like I found found who I was in it and if I didn't have the bullies then what would I be doing now like you know um yeah kind way no I get it I think there's it's like a one of those necessary evils you know obviously like it gets taken it can get taken too far um but you know you know what I think it is I think it's the Unity that you know someone might be facing as a result of like a bully obviously you know it like said it can get taken way too far but like just to kind of you know have that adversity to challenge yourself I think certainly could be beneficial oh yeah all right real quick before we go um you're fighting you have a fight coming up soon that's a kickboxing match right I have no I have a I have a boxing match now in h three weeks time I think it is the third of May in AR and we've kind of had it's a problem getting me matched so we've had like change of opponent like three times but for for the minute I have one match um but uh hopefully it stays there and for the plan at the minute yeah I've got a boxing match at the minute in the it's going to be in the Sports Center in Arlo in my hometown who's uh you know you know your opponent yeah I actually I actually don't know who he is like I like um the promoter sent me his name and I actually I can't remember it I think it was uh I hope he doesn't watch this s well do you find this to be kind of beneficial like yeah you you're not kind of stressing about it or something like that or it's I want to get better at it so I want to be active like you know I want to be active boxing like uh that's my my expertise is boxing like um so so I feel like I feel like they could throw anyone at me in there and I should be able to win like because that's my bread and butter like you know and but it's it's going to be exciting I think I have a feeling it might be my last one in my hometown before we moving on to the bigger shows um sadly but you know I'd love to bring something back one day in the professional boxing back back to my hometown but probably too small for that but we we could maybe build something and yeah um what uh was going to say um yes are you doing anything in particular for for this for this one um so boxing's mad right you can do different styles of boxing like so many different styles and uh I have been working on Soviet sway style I've been working on Philly shell I've been working on absolutely like so boxing is crazy because you can craft you can you can train one basic style of boxing for your whole career or what I'm doing is I'm like listening out to what the Champions are saying like Floyd Mayweather is a prime example and he's not just the one style of fighter he has like several he has a Muhammad Ali in him he has a Mike Tyson in him he has Golovkin in him you know he has all those different styles that are trained in him over the years and I think that's important to do in my game as well so like I'll go and pressure fighting for one fight I'll be like right this fight the opponent is taller so I have to be a pressure fighter get inside the jab work the body shut the body down and then you know eventually finish or counter punch I work on different things different training camps so I know the opponent I have right now is going to be heavier than me and he's going to be roughly the same height so um knows what I want to work on for that just in case he's watching but uh I'll definitely be working on something that I haven't boxed before something sort of style I haven't boxed before oh yeah so uh So speaking of boxing and boxing matches that are coming up um how do you feel about the Tyson Paul fight that's coming up I love that fight you think really I'm so [ __ ] scared for uh everyone's well-being like so Tyson with the age Factor you know is not going to repair as much after the fight like you know even if he does and I hope he does uh beat Jake Paul easily um what what if he gets a knock on his [ __ ] rib or something and it it's going to be there for the rest of his life and it won't repair or something like it's not really a game perhaps yeah and but also he's not fighting regularly either you know what I mean so I guess it it might be an issue you know he know trying to fight you know two three times a year or you know whatever then uh yeah that that might be an issue but um this might basically just be a once off what's crazy is right we have Jake Paul right he they're not the same weight though are they because T not at all I don't I think Tyson's heavier especially uh he's probably training like a bodybuilder now because well after his boxing career he probably is like I want to look well so I'd say he's just lifting heavy weights and stuff and eating loads and eating the right foods but still um it's a [ __ ] hell of a fight man it's going to be entertaining H like Jake Paul has the fitness of a professional boxer he has the perfect Fitness but it comes down to the brain at the end of the day he's still a novice boxer like yeah know I like now I I don't know a lot about boxing but um I I think half of his problem is his Personality yeah you know and people just want to not like him because of that so you know they still might tune in to watch but they're not watching as a as a fan it's they want him to fail yeah but like half that issue is um like because he's a legit athlete he's a legit boxer he's a hell of an athl you know um and I think if it wasn't for like the if he didn't come up through YouTube if he wasn't like a you tuber yeah um then he he could he would have a I don't know what I'm trying to say um he'd have the respect I guess of the the community but then also like some of the fights that like you know they're putting together like it they're very yeah you know it's you're either picking you're not picking boxers yeah or uh you know like you're not picking boxers you're picking someone from another another um discipline and you know not trying to be disrespectful but you know they might be a bit past their Prime already oh you know and you know it's like that come on now you know now you're just making boxing look a bit foolish you know and I think that's where a lot of people uh maybe have their draw their issue with them it's very smart what he's doing right oh for sure like the dude's making see right let's see Anderson Sila Ben askar like who else MMA is you fought like Tyrone Woodley yeah so in MMA we train for a long endurance cardio yes we have explosive cardio in a strengthen condition where it's like you know um explosive movements landmines explosive uh squat Tru all that stuff and box jumps all that crack yeah but for the most part MMA is your gritty and you're wrestling with a lad like and it's you're solid boxing is like flashy you're like Sprints you're a to be as fast as he can so J Paul just prays on that and he prays on it big time and the weight as well because you know boxing's B on their same day um rehydration clause weighings and all this stuff uh MMA kind of day before if you're 70 is fine you know and the guys come in like look at Pereira like somebody like this they come in and they're just Giant on the day of the fight and Jake Paul Praise on that he's like MMA guys okay you fight 77 fight me at 77 oh by the way there's a rehydration clause in this and all this stuff and um [ __ ] smart what he's doing like cuz yes they're better Fighters Than Jake but he's able to beat them because he's training the game he's training that explosive A to B more and he's just staying far away from them like yeah if they get in and they scrap with him they if it was an if it was an actual fight yeah he'd be in real trouble gone like like look ataz man Nate Diaz ain't going down for no like he is I think he's the toughest fighter there is n absolutely yeah he he's like um uh I don't know never mind yeah he he's he's very tough yeah like you he got he's yeah you're not taking him down yeah you know not easily at least no or he's not letting it happen is what I mean you know yeah but uh all right look uh look I I I wish you all the success in your upcoming fight um I I certainly hope it goes through and your guy doesn't uh doesn't pull out again god um so you know I'm looking forward to that I want to I want to see the result um you know but uh yeah like I said uh before thanks for coming on um I appreciate it and I'd love to have you again sometime yeah yeah all right man thanks for that man cheers [Music] yeah uh yeah uh [Music] n
