So, I'm gonna be talking with Oscar Lee. He's going to be fighting at Elite this weekend. Me and Oscar go way back. Uh we actually went to Slovakia together. We'll probably touch on that later. This is his second fight. He's going to be looking for the win. He's going to He fights out of Cork and he's going to be fighting in Cork as well. So, it's very close to the the fight. So, I really appreciate your time. How are you? How is fight week looking for you and thanks for joining me? >> Oh, thanks for having me. Um yeah, look, fight week's been great. Um, no complaints really like but I'm feeling really really good about this one. Um, prep's gone exceptionally well. Um, I've taken on now I had him before for a previous camp I had to pull out of but um Sean Sean Fitz who's shown adaptive health on Instagram. Real um game changer with strength and conditioning making the weight everything like so everything's gone really really smooth. Uh no complaints at all. Feeling great. It helps a lot when you've got someone to take care of that side of things because obviously they've got their degree. They've they've kind of done whatever they've done. They've done courses. Whereas as a fighter, you don't have time to be looking at all that. Do you feel it's it's taking a lot off your shoulders having someone like that and you can concentrate on technique and and other things. >> Absolutely. Because like I f felt before like I fought in boxing and MMA and half the struggle like I I've done like weightlifting and all that type of stuff for years all that bulk and cut shite but I um was often way more concerned about like making the weight and what I'm eating rather than obviously I was training really hard and stuff but it was big taking up a massive portion of my mental capacity you know just thinking about making the weight making the weight whereas I just have everything kind of like planned out here and it's real minded these type of thing, >> you know, and that's good coming into a fight week as well because what's it like for you like coming into fight week? Obviously, you tone it down. You have like maybe a couple of days before, maybe a week before your last kind of hard session and you go from 100% training, putting everything in, getting ready to having to just switch off. How hard is that or is it hard for you? >> Um, yeah, to be honest, I find like I love like like you've seen me train and everything. Like I love to spar. I love to go 100% the whole not 100% sparring but like 100% with the wrestling and just push push the pace the whole time. Push the push the pace and like it was Monday and uh Friday I was um in the gym with MAGA, Shane Hurley and Tom Bokeley and they were all sparring and I was there sat there just watching it kind of itching to do it but Dylan had had um sparring ban on me. So um yeah that type of stuff I do find hard like I'd only be stretching kind of shadow boxing. I've done a good few pads this week, light drills in the grappling. Um, some stuff I've been working on, but yeah, ready to ready to go. Um, fight week. It's just like it really gives you that itch because I'm only kind of I feel like I'm sitting around and I want to go now. I've I've said I've been saying it for like a week or two weeks. I've been ready this whole time. Like I actually wish the card was last week. >> Yeah. And that's good though that you're excited. You're looking forward to it. Like your last fight was quite a while ago. Um >> uh you compete I believe it was Premier that was in Cork as well. >> It was in the bars. Yeah. In uh in Cork. Um I really like that looking back on that fight like it was it's I'm completely different. I feel like a completely different fighter because I am you know like I was in that in the game um martial arts itself only really two years and um went in there against Lee who I respect a lot. Tough opponent, really nice fella. Um, and we got along really well after the fight. Um, but I was gutted with the result. But I have twice the amount of training put in. Like I'm I'm really excited to show off the product I am now uh compared to what I was uh in April 23. >> Yeah. Cuz because it's a long time. Amateurs can progress very quickly even over the space of weeks and months. So with this gap also you were away for quite a bit or away a bit there recently as well. Do you want to talk about your your trip? It seems to be a destination you see a lot of fighters going to. Did it live up to the expectations? What was your kind of positives from it and what did you gain from the trip? >> What did I gain from it? Yeah. Um Daniela from my gym uh went over to Banga in Thailand. Banga Muay Thai and MMA and it was incredible. Like I just went by myself. Um just was like I'm going to take the plunge and just go out there and do it because this is something I really want to do for years. Um, but yeah, it was incredible being able to train train with the thighs and it it absolutely did live live up to expectation. Now, like the gym was kind of different from what I thought it would be. I thought it would be kind of more not old school, but more kind of how would you describe it? Less commercial, less commercial than it was. Now, that's taking nothing away from Bangto at all. It's not not an insult to the place. Um but like I was training the normal tie class for a while and it was a lot of beginners and for like the first kind of week like five days but as soon as I got accepted into the fighters class um with fellas on like RWS one championship it was incredible and I got to train under the likes of crew M and like he lo the PT personal trainings with um crewm who I don't know if you know who Azar and Watt is um he'd be coach to Michael Savas now he's fought in one championship and channel 7 my and everything, but massive details from him like even even basics I was missing really really helped me up my game and the experience of being put under pressure like by those guys like for example like there's guy Liam Patel now he's the he was he was the former UK number one uh he's at 63 kilos I believe might be 61 63 I think but even be able to train with fellas like that inspire them and learn from them is incredible really incredible >> yeah you said something there at the start as that you're training with like beginners for a week. Is that like a trial kind of a thing to see where your skill set is at or or what or was it just you were training there and then these people came after the week? >> So, so there's there's so many classes like at at at one stage there's like I'd say there's about 200 people 150 people on the mats. The gym is huge. It's massive complex. like they have three massive training areas, but the first Muay Thai class you originally join um their normal one is it's it's full of beginners and that's a great thing, you know, like people are out here to learn the sport, they'll travel to Thailand to learn the sport, but you have to be uh invited to the fighters class, but it just takes a few days. If you're any any good whatsoever, and they say, "Do you want to fight?" They'll throw you in that. And it was it was amazing. now. Like it was [ __ ] it, excuse my language, it was tough. But um yeah, it was um it was tough and really gritty and a lot of their training was um kind of old school training and a lot of pads, a lot of cardio, a lot of sparring, but also being able to train under the likes of like Owen Livy um and Brad Redell uh the UFC the UFC competitor was incredible. Really eye opening. Uh and the amount of time they had for everybody as well. I was um surprised how much time like once you ask questions shows you're interested they like to meet someone like Brad Redell and own lives and have them spend sit down and spend five minutes with you making sure you got that technique perfectly was um was great. It's really good. >> Yeah, it it sounds classy. You see a lot of fighters going over there and like that. You see these UFC competitors just in and out. So yeah during their camper when their fight is over just going over and having some some training and it's something that I think fighters should do. They should travel and they don't always have to travel to the same destination. There is different places you go Dubai. You could go different places. Dagistan two three years maybe. But like that I I would advise them to travel and like that network and get around and because there's different countries have different styles and you'll always pick up something new. So fair play for doing that. But this weekend you've got to fight. Like I said you're really excited for it with your opponent. Do you study the opponent much? Does Dylan do that or do you look much into them? cuz like you still be hard to get tape on him actually cuz it's his debut I believe. Yeah. >> Yeah. No. Um you'll have a quick look obviously like I had a quick look with Dylan and we talk about a few things. Um I I know a few things about him. I know I know he's southpaw and he's some jiu-jitsu experience. Um bit of kickboxing experience. Um that's all. But I don't even really think about that to be honest. I'm kind of thinking about my own performance, how I'm going to perform. I'm not really thinking about how I'm going to be reacting. I'm just kind of thinking what I'm going to be doing. U and I think that's the best way to look at things mentally especially. But yeah, all respect to him, you know, I'm sure he's he's he's there. He's coming to win just like I was for my debut. But um I plan on leaving him disappointed, but that's just the way it is. It's part of the game. >> Yeah, it is. And like I I like that idea. I talk to fighters and they all kind of say the same thing. They don't want to game plan against someone else cuz you know how much people can improve from one fight to the next thing. And you don't want to base your style around every amateur fighter you face because then you don't like stamp your own kind of fighting style. So, and get yourself known. So, it's better to concentrate on you and your performance and that's exactly what you're doing. Talk to us about the gym. Obviously, um I I be quite close with the gym. Obviously, we went back together. MAGA, Tom Buckley, someone I'm very I I think is very very good. H Shane Hurley, yourself, Josh Allen, I love meeting Dylan Kieran when I down there. Talk to us about your gym because I I really like the gym. the feeling gym and even on the beginners when I think I was there on a Friday night, the place was jammed. Talk to us about the gym and how it's going. >> Yeah. Um yeah, I'll talk about in a couple of sections like you know we're having loads of new beginners in lately, loads of novice fellas um in both the Thai and the MMA. Like we have loads of guys really going like to get on the National MMA leagues. I think that's a really like thing that's kind of propelled it forward because they see all their friends on the inter clubs and it's so accessible to do it and it's after a couple of months training you can go in against someone who's never trained or never fought before. I think it's it is healthy for the sport and loads of people in there for the beginners courses and the tie as well which is which is great. Um but also our amateur team now I feel like and Dylan will tell you as well we've all I think turned a corner in the last year or two. I think we've really not even turned the corner. I think even just jumped up to the next stage, next level because we were quiet for a while and then the likes now the Hurley brothers, Brian Hurley, Shane Hurley, you were mentioned Tom already, Maga, myself, um Josh, like all the lads who who are in on the amateur team, John as well. John's always there training and Rory Donnelly. Um they're all really leveling up now. We all give each other trouble. Um but yeah, I feel like we're the team itself has um really like grown into a force to be reckoned with at this stage and it's only going to go forward. >> Yeah, it really has. I remember saying with Dylan when I started he had a couple of fighters in amateur and they obviously have gone on to do other things now. Then he was quiet. I was like where's your like and then all of a sudden like that in the background you don't see it like you don't I don't see it in gyms and then all of a sudden you'll be going you need to look at this lad you need to look at that lad. What's it like watching your teammates and yourself develop like that into like you said like a really really good amateur team going forward for the next few years? >> Well, it's to be honest it's it's a great feeling like you feel everybody getting better. You feel like you're on the same journey. It's a real um kind of team mentality there because we're all we're all close. We'll all have a laugh with each other after training. There's no never any real never any bad blood in the gym or whatever. Like we'll all have a laughter and spar and be laugh and joking the whole time. And we all we're all there for each other when we fight. We're all talking about it in the gym, you know? It's kind of like when someone else fights, everybody's all talk about it. Like it's almost like you're all fighting together. And we all wish the best for each other as well, you know? Like especially with the lads now who've been doing very well lately, like especially Tom Buckley and um Shane Hurley. both of them now like even though uh I'd be bigger than them or whatever they're like they their development now they're the two fellas who've really accelerated in the last um in the last two years um in and out of the cage like um in the gym in the cage like when they perform they've really turned the corner >> the next level >> yeah and Tom Bley is one that stands out obviously he's matched on the show that I matched before I didn't match that fight but as soon as they kind of said I was doing it. I sent that to him and he said I already have that fight made. So it was good that h I was thinking on the same page because obviously Tom was supposed to fight for Titan Akuma and that fell out on the day uh like that Shane me. >> Um so yeah I'm looking forward to I'm looking forward team I'm looking forward I'm not sure if I'm going to be there on Saturday now uh myself. I might be I might not be I'm not doing media that much anymore and I've been away the past two weekends so it's taxing on the body. But if not I'll be watching the pay-per-view. I'm going to let you go. I want to thank you very much for coming on. Is there any you want to say before you go or anyone you want to shout out? >> Um yeah, just the gym, everybody I've been talking about already. Um both like all the whole amateur team did himself and um yeah, um Sean Fitz as well who's um really pushed me through this camp, you know, kept me fueled and really taken away a lot of mental stress. But yeah, uh thanks for having me on, Dave. Uh it's good to talk to you. >> Yeah. No, thank you. This is a long time coming. I feel like that time in Slovakia, we'll never forget Yan who will mean something to us for the rest of our lives. It actually came up with a memory on my on my phone today and >> we were talking about that today. >> Yeah, it came up a memory of him walking to the cage. So, look, we leave it at that. Thank you very much whether I see you or not. Best of skill this weekend and I'll be talking to you after fight regardless. All right. >> Thanks very much, Seth.
