David Letchford is from Maidstone, Kent, training at Combat Sports Academy under Mick Hall after his previous gym, Fitter Stronger Faster, closed last December.

He didn't come to this sport chasing glory. He came to it bullied, carrying abuse from inside his own family, needing to know he could protect himself. That's not background - it's the whole reason he's here. 

The kid once afraid of everyone around him is now a man willing to share a cage with anybody.

Fighting at 61kg and at 66kg, David has spent around five years in the sport, also crossing into boxing, K1 and no-gi BJJ along the way. His amateur record reads 5-5, five in title fights - and it won't look tidy to anyone glancing at it cold. David wouldn't have it any other way. The amateur circuit is for learning, not protecting a record, and he's used his exactly as intended, collecting two Bloodline Fight Series titles, most recently at 66kg, which he defends October 25th. His style is deliberately awkward, unorthodox, and hard to solve.

That most recent title is his proudest moment - arriving after three straight losses and a year and a half without a win. A stretch long enough to plant real doubt, silenced the only way that works and he was back in the win column.

His hardest night came outside MMA entirely: a K1 title fight, short notice, his first ever in the discipline, against a tough prospect. Four rounds of punishment, gassed completely, never once hit the floor. His coach wanted to throw the towel before round five - David talked him out of it. He lost but the result didn’t matter to him, he had persevered.

He looks up to fighters like Conor McGregor and Ilia Topuria, drawn to the conviction underneath the highlight reel. His closest training partner, Jacob Wall, is an amateur champion himself, on the verge of turning pro.

David isn't chasing a name yet. He would like to one day fight and win on the biggest stage - for now, it's the fight directly in front of him that matters, defending his title in October @bloodline.fight.series 🔥
